00:11:44 Devastator: Bunnycat is a dick.
00:47:42 Devastator: I kept expecting a rickroll.
01:30:11 Devastator: I completed a mission without torches.
01:30:15 Devastator: I forgot to buy them.
01:31:51 Devastator: There as no achievement.
01:34:48 ER: now do it with 0 light the whole time :D
01:42:15 ER: huh, arquebus and possibly high enough control seems to negate the enemy's chance to evade entirely
03:50:30 Devastator: Dang, that was some combat round.
03:58:45 ER: this is proving surprisingly easy thus far
04:02:47 Devastator: First fight, and we had a string of good rolls.
04:02:56 Devastator: But yeah, things going wlel.
04:03:07 Devastator: I also like how form words without material words are treated.
04:03:12 Devastator: you get the item, but it doesn't last.
04:03:18 Devastator: Way better than
PW's clunky images thing.
04:15:11 ER: I was considering having form words scrunch up whatever's near into that form but that might be too holy hell dangerous :p
04:17:51 Devastator: You might be able to do that if you direct it towards stuff.
04:17:58 Devastator: although this first battle is in a pretty empty area.

05:16:18 Devastator: gah, I'm dumb for missing
MJ.
06:43:46 syv: GoD updated twice in one day
06:44:31 Devastator: Gonna not post tomorrow.
06:44:45 Devastator: (and yeah, burnout soon, but damn, it's good.)
06:49:26 Devastator: also looks like I passed my crappy rolls onto the boss.
06:49:36 syv: I think it's a mook but yes
06:49:49 syv: I wonder why Fluffe is saying only one word at a time
06:50:09 Devastator: seems more viable than in
PW's game, since form words get you a temporary item.
06:52:22 syv: Fluffe could already be very intimidating with just Aura and Frying Pan.
06:52:49 Devastator: It's also a better way to do it.
06:52:54 syv: Needs decent rolls, but that's a weapon and a shield.
06:53:03 Devastator: Seriously, Fallacy took the stuff that's wrong with Perplexicon and fixed most of it.
06:53:21 syv: But we've seen very little so far.
06:54:12 Devastator: that said, what we have seen looks good.
06:54:27 syv: He split magic into three stats, unified physical into a few stats, added a default weak material for forms/targeting, and made channelling scale more reasonably.
06:54:35 syv: They're good changes, yes.
06:56:11 syv: Multicast spells losing control is questionable, crest mechanics are questionable, and the stat system overall is somewhat questionable. The stat stuff has also been done before.
06:57:12 syv: Haven't seen enough of phys stats either. They should be very strong if they're to be balanced with magic.
06:58:36 syv: Might should be able to do unreasonable physical things like tear people apart and tank bullets without harm, for instance. It's directly competing against wizards turning themselves into steel.
06:59:02 syv: Though magic stats themselves are broadly weaker, so that should help.
07:00:47 ER: well, we are magical girls fighting shadow monsters in a dream world
07:01:04 ER: so punching things might be expected to be pretty powerful if you believe in it
07:01:20 ER: though still less interesting most of the time
07:02:10 ER: I want to know what nature went for a statline of 2 0 2 0 2 0 and why horizon seemingly copied it
07:03:59 ER: I think he's a kid who doesn't think so hard about things
07:04:41 syv: Yes, but even then it's a very basic foolish decision.
07:04:57 syv: "I'll copy someone who understands better than me" is reasonable
07:05:39 syv: Managed to make the literal worst choice
07:05:51 ER: nature can sometimes appear confident! :p
07:06:15 syv: Maybe I *should* run Druujinas.
07:06:33 syv: Do two person teams instead of three
07:06:39 Devastator: I'd be obligated to missspell it.
07:07:30 syv: It's a Russian word spelled with latin letters, it's already misspelled
07:07:50 syv: It's a 5x5 grid of areas with teams in each corner.
07:08:30 syv: Each square is a section of a modern urban... *place*, neatly sectioned off and dropped in, with the inhabitants still there and confused.
07:09:07 syv: Central square is a tall slade pillar that keeps the center from being the best square
07:11:08 ER: welp, that setup with 2 player teams would make me want to do raven and corven feathra
07:12:19 syv: Play sisters with Saki instead
07:15:36 syv: Druujinas had a central control crystal in every zone, rated 1-3. 2 and 3 power crystals multiplied your mana-per-turn if you controlled it. The only 3-power zones were directly between players, and were also heavily armed and hostile military bases, serving as a PvE challenge and a barrier to zerging other players.
07:15:50 ER: just a couple twin teenage sisters with magical powers trying to make it in an effed up chopped apart city
07:16:43 syv: If you owned a zone, you could infuse words into a crystal to affect the entire square, with the cost/difficulty of that being inverse to the rating. So 1 rating squares were very easy to affect, and would better serve as scorched earth barriers than actual homes.
07:18:36 syv: Druujinas also had seven pages of words, with more emphasis on spell storing/delayed casting, and affecting non-wizard entities. Ideally encouraging using NPC forces ("adopted" humans from the city segments) as soldiers to defend/attack with/for you.
07:19:42 ER: that's the list we used for the uhh Road Wizard fight right
07:20:00 syv: I may have used the old Perplexicon list for that.
07:20:24 syv: Or a page that had 1/3rd cost?
07:20:38 syv: Yeah, then Road Wizard used Druujinas rules.
07:20:41 ER: never figured that shit out :p
07:21:08 Devastator: who turned into a bird and failed to explode a giant to death from inside.
07:21:23 syv: To be fair the giant just abused Zentol
07:21:56 syv: And you literally had "Kill X" words
07:22:19 Devastator: but kill X seemed not stylish
07:23:04 ER: I hope reoah doesn't have a zentol :p
07:23:27 syv: If it does I hope it burns your stats
07:23:57 syv: Zentol costing Heart instead of counting as a word would be suitable
07:25:10 syv: But yeah. Druujinas is intended to be prep-heavy rocket tag with respawns.
07:25:25 Devastator: You lose qa stat for the mission
07:26:07 syv: Ah, and before the game started I was gonna have every player choose three words, then cast three twelve-word spells from those choices. Publically.
07:27:12 syv: Idea being that puzzling out what those big spells are made from would be a good common early game thing to do, and means everyone starts off with a *vaugely* similar list. If steels in there, everyone's gonna figure it out soonish.
07:28:56 ER: how many words can you spam out in, say, an in-game day
07:29:49 syv: Channelling * local power source. Home would be a 2 or 1. Never decided on stat amount but intended to never change it, so...
07:30:46 syv: Sixish channelling probably, if you hyper focus into channelling.
07:31:09 syv: Five stats, and aim to make a balanced build be reasonably +1 in all of them.
07:31:47 syv: So that would be 6, 12, or 18 words per turn depending on local area.
07:32:01 syv: I don't think days would exist.
07:32:58 syv: I like Fallacy's multiple-spells penalty, and would use that now.
07:35:18 ER: didn't you say that was questionable just above?
07:35:22 syv: Could actually see doing it on a different system with that, where the stat indicates how many words one spell can have, and mana amount is purely tied to your power source.
07:36:06 syv: I can like a questionable mechanic. It encourages using big long spells.
07:38:01 syv: It adds to the high unpredictability of the system though, since you have two rolls that need to succeed and it adds penalties. It discourages using multiple spells in a turn, so you're less likely to cast defenses along with your attacks; a big attack is more reliable. It buffs control.
07:38:58 ER: could you even use multiple spells in a turn in perplexicon?
07:40:07 syv: Druujinas has mechanics for spell storing, which would mitigate those somewhat. It's part of why you get so much mana. Even then, it's still questionable--Druujinas deliberately stacks a lot of benefits for defenders, so adding even more emphasis on prepped spells may encourage it to be too rocket taggy, with players prepping tons of huge attacks so they can overwhelm defenders before their defenses attrit them.
07:40:46 syv: That said, I also just like the emphasis on larger spells, especially for doing science. It's a real problem with Perplexicon, as
Dev said.
07:41:35 syv: And yes, you always could. It was normal for people with six mana to use six independant single words, at least with the four pages where that worked.
07:42:08 syv: "Dirt magma sword" tells you less than "Dirt. Magma. Sword."
07:42:37 ER: I'm having fun working things out from two or three word spells
07:43:28 syv: I had basically shrugged and accepted that issue. Didn't even think about fixing it.
07:44:48 Devastator: Do you think the mook will go down this turn?
07:45:19 ER: if you don't miss, certainly
07:45:40 ER: but that's still an RTD roll
07:45:40 syv: I think it's mostly disabled. Won't matter much either way.
07:54:05 ER: I've not really been paying too close attention to other people's words
07:54:12 ER: since they're seperate lists
07:54:48 syv: Also it's already quite tempting to micromanage people
07:55:21 syv: Am jealous of Fluffe having Aura, and him hamstringing himself by not using more words worsens it.
08:04:21 Devastator: Maybe you can reanimate the corpse as an ally.
08:06:23 Devastator: bat it and make the flesh into a bat
08:08:19 Devastator: "Unlike in previous games I've run, once an attack hits I won't roll for the attack's damage-level. That damage level will be set by what the attack is,"
08:08:32 Devastator: Hmm, that means being decently armed or a giant dragon is really, really good.
08:11:51 ER: hopefully someone tosses you a frying pan
08:12:05 ER: prefeably made out of something semi permanent
08:13:54 Devastator: I'm pretty sure I'll find some good buff spells eventually.
08:15:43 ER: was fiddling with paint.net to try to make a map for a city-scale game
08:16:59 ER: would color in the white spots with different colors and have them be different areas of the city
08:17:34 ER: probably different vague areas of control by corps and gangs
08:28:00 syv: Yeah
Dev, Perplexicon damage is basically always decided freestyle
08:28:12 syv: The system is just far too broad to handle mechanicallu
08:31:25 ER: oh yeah
Devastator you seen the awful hospital updates?
09:02:54 Devastator: was doing another dungeon.
09:03:07 Devastator: beat the second pig boss. Still haven't lost a character, but had a close call.
09:03:20 Devastator: this time I had a guy acrualy need to roll a save against death.
09:06:07 Devastator: Got critted by a giant maw eater for 45 damage while blighted.
09:08:05 Devastator: was all up to the dice at that point. That battle went well, actually. I was in very bad shape after the previous battle, where I had four advanced bandits basically play ping-pong with me.
09:08:22 Devastator: they were stunned and had two backrow advanced gunners.
09:09:13 Devastator: anyway, this party couldn't deal with people hiding, and I failed to put any of them in the ground.
09:09:29 Devastator: I think I had at least one miss, probably two.
09:09:43 Devastator: then it was six consecutive rounds.
09:10:05 Devastator: four AoE attacks with a couple crits that debuff dodges and two bigger hits in there.
09:10:10 Devastator: yeah, that battle messed me up badly.
09:17:38 ER has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
09:55:16 syv: How have you been doing well in DD when you don't have an answer for enemies hiding
10:20:09 Devastator: I do, just that party didn't have a good one.
10:20:34 Devastator: I don't have particular parties geared up and coordinated.
10:21:02 Devastator: that one got stuck because the plague doctor couldn't plague bomb the two gunners at the back because they were both hiding.
