ERLOG 2022-11-30

The below can be used to save the settings to a file or load them from a file. Useful if you want to transfer the settings between devices or feel better editing the settings by hand. Settings are stored as a cookie in your browser.
The below is a unique name for your settings. If you update your settings on one device, all other devices with the same name should be updated. This is done by checking if the stored cookie has an update date later than your current cookie. If you change the name, then the update date will be set to 0 so that an attempt will be made to load the latest data from the database.
Cookie last updated: 2025-04-06 04:43:08
Pushing the button below will register your browser and cookie ID so that you will receive push notifications. This happens automatically when loading the page, it is merely left here as a debug tool.
The below can be used to set an offset in minutes to alter the displayed timestamp. So, for example, someone in CST (which is UTC-6) will use an offset of -6*60=-360. Autodetect should find your offset automatically using javascript.
Check the below if you want the logs to attempt to render links in a pretty manner
The below can be used to set a colour for each user's name, overriding the automatically generated colours. Saved colours are displayed in order of priority. Notify allows you to receive push notifications for replies mentioning that name.

03:34:52 MJ: lo
03:34:55 ER: bleb
03:35:07 MJ: how're you ER?
03:35:36 ER: fingies cold
03:36:29 MJ: That is a problem
03:38:07 ER: I feel like playing videogames
03:39:32 MJ: Ah, I unfortunatly don't have time
03:42:05 ER: unfortunate
03:52:31 Devastator: 'lo
03:52:34 Devastator: you're cold?
03:52:40 Devastator: it's -15 here. ;-p
03:52:50 Devastator: I'm up for vidyas.
03:53:37 MJ: It's actually warmed up here
03:59:08 Devastator: https://tasvideos.org/4955M
03:59:41 Devastator: people will TAS anything.
04:00:30 MJ: Clearlly
04:04:24 Devastator: it's also pretty brutal.
04:05:42 MJ: Yeah much more brutal then I expected
04:05:44 MJ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi9_TPlHAs4
04:05:46 MJ: Why.
04:05:49 MJ: just why
04:07:25 Devastator: that's perfectly reasonable.
04:07:38 ER: hell yeah bloxxors
04:13:32 ER: I like the random anime girl in the intro of that tas
04:14:12 Devastator: It's the signature of the encoder.
04:14:20 Devastator: Each one uses a different one.
04:14:25 Devastator: ..most of them are vidya game girls, yes.
04:15:43 ER: vidya
04:16:20 ER: I wonder if a bloxxors tas is also necesarilly a fewest moves completion or if there's ways to cut down on time using extra moves
04:16:53 Devastator: Author notes might tell you that.
04:26:38 ER: is interesting how speedrunners can go to such effort to speedrun a game which was never designed for speed to even be a factor :p
04:27:10 ER: there's something more logical about flying through half life than through a puzzle game
04:29:28 Devastator: heh.
04:33:31 MJ: Its' weird to me that one of the only games based off a movie that's actually at all decent is the james bond games sometimes
04:34:16 Devastator: There are others.
04:34:20 Devastator: the 2009 ghostbusters game.
04:34:58 MJ: That's true, and the alien game
04:35:12 MJ: Alien isolation\
04:35:12 ER: several alien games! :d
04:35:33 ER: I remember there was an aliens game on the DS or something which seemed well recieved
04:35:55 ER: video game movies have a way worse track record than movie video games
04:36:13 Devastator: Fewer examples.
04:36:16 Devastator: the rate might be similar.
04:36:53 ER: though it is true that more success comes from the game being allowed to be different from the movie. for obvious reasons
04:37:15 ER: like alien isolation is tied to alien through themes and setting rather than what literally happens
04:37:19 Devastator: Warcraft wasn't terrible.
04:37:32 ER: it's an alien sequel which happens to be a game rather than an adaptation of an alien movie
04:37:35 MJ: There's a warcraft movie?
04:37:50 ER: there was of course that one adaptation of an alien movie which *really sucked* ;p
04:37:58 MJ: oh god right
04:38:00 Devastator: ..Yes.
04:38:08 Devastator: yes there is a Warcraft movie.
04:38:13 ER: or at least was way too hard
04:38:20 Devastator: 'not terrible' is probably the best way to refer to it.
04:38:23 MJ: Yeah colonial marines was a mess ER
04:38:30 ER: no an older one
04:38:43 ER: colonial marines wasn't a movie tiein either
04:38:48 MJ: I was dissapointed by the hitman movie, why not just have a dude dress up in a variety of outfits and infilitrate for 90 mintues
04:38:54 ER: I was thinking of the alien 3 game I think?
04:38:57 ER: an FPS
04:39:06 Devastator: Yeah, that's one that could have been much better.
04:39:46 ER: far as I know the warcraft movie meets the tier of blizzard writing and cinematics, which is to say it's lame and boring but technically is fine I guess
04:39:52 MJ: I feel like you could have done the hitman movie on a lower budget and it would have been better if they'd done that.
04:40:06 Devastator: 2000 bucks?
04:40:19 Devastator: hah, do it all with gopros like that movie.
04:40:30 MJ: Hardcore henry?
04:40:33 Devastator: `1
04:40:49 ER: just hire a chain of youtube mini-movie people and tie whatever they make into a chain of infiltration
04:41:48 MJ: yes
04:42:04 ER: you don't need a constant actor for agent 47, he's a MaStER oF dISgUisE ;p
04:42:22 ER: just take any old bald guy
04:43:12 MJ: Honestly that being a constant joke of 47 just looking vaguelly different throughout the movie because the just keep subing bald men in would have been hilarious to show how he's supposed to look just genuinely difficult to place
04:48:09 Devastator: 'every new actor was another 007' theory looking better and better.
04:48:48 ER: SAME GUY
04:50:30 MJ: Bond is actually just a sentient STD in human form, fueled by vodka and bloodlust.
04:50:45 MJ: Every new bond is just a new mutation of the STF
04:50:48 MJ: ^D
04:52:07 MJ: Also I'm gonna be really busy this week with the last of school stuff for the semester
04:52:22 MJ: so I won't have time to do anything until Wensday night
04:52:29 MJ: But then I'm complelty free.
04:52:47 MJ: ^next Wensday night
04:52:56 Devastator: ok
05:03:40 MJ: goodnight gentlemen
05:03:44 ER: night
05:04:32 Devastator: Day
05:05:03 MJ has quit []
05:10:59 ER: so how strong should goblins be, dev?
05:12:15 ER: (thinking that they're effectively fully intelligent people, but 'artificicially' made by dungeon magic
05:12:34 Devastator: Varying.
05:12:43 Devastator: overall fairly weakish but with strong examples.
05:16:11 ER: so most follow a weak template but I could make some stronger ones with real skills
05:16:34 Devastator: yeah.
05:16:37 Devastator: or levels, or gear.
05:52:55 Devastator: Huh.
05:52:57 Devastator: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=180609.0
05:53:01 Devastator: wonder if that was inspired by K-com.
05:56:33 ER: saw that
05:56:44 ER: but was tldr for me at the moment :p
06:00:08 Devastator: I think no, but there's some resemblance.
06:00:24 Devastator: gonna do some dierolling.
