09:14:57 syv: In the other DS games, there's "normal" weapons, which can have any infusion. Fire, magic, whatever. Then there's "special" weapons which often have a base infusion, but can't have it changed.
09:15:20 syv: Ashes of war are both a unique attack you can add, and a vehicle for infusions. Magic ash? Magic infusion.
09:15:50 syv: Buuut with the right items, you can just apply whatever infusion on whatever weapon. Frost, with any slash. Don't need a frost ash.
09:16:44 syv: As a bonus, the unique weapons with their own infusions... can't have ashes applied. So they're trash by default, because their base special attacks are typically worse than a good ash.
09:17:31 syv: It would make so much more sense to have infusions locked to a related set of ashes. Want a frost weapon? Well you can't use sword's dance, because that only does keen and normal infusions. You have to have a frost ash.

09:22:24 syv: Statuses are also terribly OP. I have a frost naginata, at level 0, and mostly everything out it is relatively fair. It doesn't have any of the absurd broken oneshot attacks.
09:23:17 syv: Buuut it has good range, speed, moveset, and ash availability... and innate bleed. Which unlike every elemental infusion, doesn't stop you from changing the infusion. So I have it on frost. Which essentially is a second bleed infusion.
09:24:06 syv: At +0 it sometimes has better DPS than normal +10 weapons, because after eight strikes or so it will suddenly do 40-60% of an enemy's health. Even through shields.
