ERLOG 2021-12-26

The below can be used to save the settings to a file or load them from a file. Useful if you want to transfer the settings between devices or feel better editing the settings by hand. Settings are stored as a cookie in your browser.
The below is a unique name for your settings. If you update your settings on one device, all other devices with the same name should be updated. This is done by checking if the stored cookie has an update date later than your current cookie. If you change the name, then the update date will be set to 0 so that an attempt will be made to load the latest data from the database.
Cookie last updated: 2025-04-06 04:24:26
Pushing the button below will register your browser and cookie ID so that you will receive push notifications. This happens automatically when loading the page, it is merely left here as a debug tool.
The below can be used to set an offset in minutes to alter the displayed timestamp. So, for example, someone in CST (which is UTC-6) will use an offset of -6*60=-360. Autodetect should find your offset automatically using javascript.
Check the below if you want the logs to attempt to render links in a pretty manner
The below can be used to set a colour for each user's name, overriding the automatically generated colours. Saved colours are displayed in order of priority. Notify allows you to receive push notifications for replies mentioning that name.

08:25:27 Devastator: heyo
08:25:29 ER: co-op is fun, even better when the game which has the co-op is good rather than mediocre
08:25:35 Devastator: DS?
08:26:21 ER: we were playing a game called unsighted
08:27:34 Devastator: any good?
08:27:38 syv: Very good!
08:27:56 syv: Seems to be Hyper Light Drifter, but bigger and soulsier
08:29:13 ER: and with some time pressure
08:29:52 ER: you're a robot, you'll eventually run out of power. so will all the NPCs, and become monsters unless you help them
08:30:27 ER: game has very seamless co-op, which goes well with the constant low intensity time pressure
08:31:38 Devastator: hmm
08:32:38 syv: It also has a lot of Zelda-ish puzzles, which work remarkably well with co-op
08:33:01 syv: Everything's clearly possible with SP, but in co-op you can cheese stuff, or simplify it.
08:34:16 syv: It... really seems to be about as close to optimal for couch co-op as a game that's not exclusively co-op can be?
08:34:58 syv: And I've played exclusive co-op games that were STILL worse.
08:35:00 ER: but man, it was a pretty cool moment when the game told me that I could double tap X to *instantly* refill my stamina, with the only cost being that I have to stand still for a moment
08:35:09 ER: that just feels really strong
08:35:19 syv: Especially when you're using the greataxe ;P
08:35:26 syv: I really love the weapon system too!
08:36:16 ER: yeah, don't need to use melee + gun, 10/10 better than bloodborne~
08:36:20 syv: You have two weapon slots, which can be used at any time. They seem to be meant to have one gun, one melee, but nothing stops you from doing double gun or double melee
08:36:42 syv: Except, arguably, some puzzles where you need to use a gun to hit something at range. Still.
08:37:27 ER: the shuriken was necessary, but since there were two of us that was just one weapon slot out of four
08:37:56 syv: The only real flaw I'd call out is that the player characters aren't dissimilar enough IMO.
08:38:27 syv: Especially playing over stream, with compression making them blurrier, it took some focus to remember who is who.
08:38:40 syv: And we decided to use strikingly different weapons to help contrast.
08:38:58 syv: Still, *really* good
08:41:26 ER: hmm, there's a ross's game dungeon but I should go to bed rather than watch an hour of youtube
08:41:50 Devastator: sounds like a good time.
08:41:53 syv: Yes.
08:42:08 syv: Watch youtube at a time when the alternative *isn't* playing a game with me. :P
08:42:14 Devastator: hah.
08:42:25 Devastator: also, speaking of Ross's, apparently Irony had never heard of Freeman's Mind.
08:42:39 Devastator: ..what should I tell people so that they'd watch it?
08:42:47 ER: well, you know irony, totally uncultured~
08:46:38 ER: you should tell people that it's good
08:46:56 ER: ...I don't know whether it's entertaining if you haven't played HL or not
08:47:28 ER: tell them to go play HL, and *then* watch freeman's mind
08:47:34 syv: It would be, I've never played HL1.
08:48:08 syv: I didn't feel like I was missing anything in particular, though I know I missed sequence breaks and avoidance of loot.
08:48:37 syv: Somehow, Unsighted's store page claims it allows remote play on *phone*
08:48:48 ER: yeah, he uses a mantling system which isn't in the game :p
08:49:57 ER: I think you can do that with any game, though?
08:52:15 ER: alright
08:52:18 ER hugs syv
08:52:36 ER: good night, syv
08:52:40 ER: good night, dev
08:53:56 syv hugs ER

10:51:39 Devastator: heyo syv.
10:51:55 syv: heyo dev.
10:51:57 syv: Something up?
10:52:14 Devastator: Not really, just was reading for a bit.
10:52:49 Devastator: also figured out in my head who you'd have to go through to escape through the enemy army.
10:53:32 Devastator: It's theoretically possible, but you'd basically need to fight absolutely perfectly for about twenty orders.
10:54:27 syv: Cool
10:55:06 Devastator: I also can't go over it, because there's a few things I'd like to remain surprises.
10:56:28 Devastator: But basically you have to go through a bunch of mooks, a bunch of officers, the concordat jungle fighters, a bunch of highland adventuring parties, a couple of outright paladins up here, and that asshole, Dorren of Mossberg.
10:56:49 Devastator: and he's got another stupid trick to throw at you.
10:57:42 Devastator: The wonderful part about him is that I have like 8 stupid tricks. I know what his trick is for the final encounter, and I know which one he has ready today, but I don't know in between.
10:59:28 Devastator: Today it's a multi-hit debuff like Sessha's poison, but since it's a persistant spell and not a poison you can't antidote out of it.
11:00:04 Devastator: Normally you can't do that, but because he's Dorren, doing impossible spells is kinda his thing.

20:02:19 Devastator: good luck in paranoia.
20:02:28 Devastator: also, it hit -40 today.
22:21:54 ER: yeah, I was given the secret task to just deliver the box to somewhere else. and the others let me carry the box and seem like they're going to waste some time getting equipment, so I'm just gonna go do it. :p
23:31:16 Devastator: Business as usual, that one.
23:31:25 Devastator: next up: It's a fake box.
