02:31:17 IronyOwl: tis fine
02:31:56 ER: today I cooked some pasta and made a cheese sauce for it
02:32:06 IronyOwl: well aren't we fancy
02:32:13 ER: fancy pasta too
02:32:19 IronyOwl: anything else in there?
02:32:23 IronyOwl: meat, onions?
02:32:48 ER: stepbrother made some asparagus and grilled chicken to go with it
02:33:02 IronyOwl: asparagus ew, grilled chicken is nice
02:33:29 ER: whats your issue with asparagus, it's good
02:33:39 IronyOwl: I have a deep loathing of vegetables
02:33:50 ER has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
02:34:46 Piecewise: a proper american
02:36:18 Piecewise: Hm hm hm
02:36:52 Piecewise: Now what detectors can't detect megavoltage photons...
02:37:06 Piecewise: Ion chambers go to 3mev
02:37:24 Piecewise: ...the hell is a flow meter?
02:38:57 Devastator: 'lo
02:39:01 Devastator: Looks like they finished up.
02:39:04 Devastator: so dev has good net now.
02:39:06 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
02:39:24 IronyOwl: how good?
02:39:32 Devastator: Not really good, but good enough.
02:39:35 Devastator: 50mbps.
02:40:17 ER: god, america sucks
02:40:24 ER: making people hate vegetables
02:40:51 Piecewise: well
02:40:52 Devastator: That's France.
02:40:59 Devastator: 1% vegitarianism rate.
02:40:59 Piecewise: we love corn syrup if that counts
02:41:07 Devastator: everyone loves corn syrup.
02:41:17 IronyOwl: fun fact, vegetarianism has been on the rise in the USA
02:41:36 IronyOwl: but mainly for economic reasons: nobody WANTS to be vegetarian, they just can't afford to eat meat
02:42:03 Devastator: I challenge you to find a vegitarian who says that.
02:42:10 ER: ALSO
02:42:22 ER: currently playing this thing https://tuyoki.itch.io/dwellers-empty-path
02:43:36 Piecewise: Well Dev, I'd argue there are some vegetarians via poverty, but not in america.
02:43:53 Devastator: Probably some of those, but I question if Irony can actually find one.
02:44:22 Piecewise: Check some of those places the USA has fucked over with charity donations of food
02:44:44 Piecewise: Where we dropped so much rice we destroyed their entire farming economy
02:44:56 IronyOwl: bleh, can't find it now
02:45:02 IronyOwl: read an article on the thing
02:45:43 Devastator: It's more buying all their quinoa.
02:46:31 ER: I mean, it's america, don't people eat meat because they're poor
02:46:31 IronyOwl: I notice the polling data I am finding doesn't list cost as an option
02:46:49 IronyOwl: which could mean it's not as relevant as that phantom thing was saying, or it could be a blind spot
02:47:33 Devastator: or someone made it up as part of the currently-ongoing disinformation efforts.
02:47:43 Devastator: no worries, we got movies.
02:49:43 Piecewise: The real reason vegetarians exist is because the spores have infested them and are forcing them to ingest more spores.
02:50:24 Devastator: Ahh, the ork theory.
02:52:05 IronyOwl: that or deer mind control devices (known popularly as "ticks") are forcing people to avoid delicious flesh
02:52:51 ER: well, you clearly have parasites keeping you from eating your veggies...
02:54:35 IronyOwl: blood for the blood god
02:54:37 IronyOwl: marrow for the soup god
02:54:50 ER: bleh
02:55:15 ER: also I linked a game and nobody commented on it, I'm offend :(
02:56:18 IronyOwl: what is it, exactly?
02:56:25 IronyOwl: RPGMaker, experimental, play the prequel first...?
02:56:41 ER: just an adventure game walking simulator, basically
02:57:01 ER: I played Escaped Chasm, it's pretty simple. And also pretty depressing.
02:57:12 Piecewise: I'm doing homework so I ignore all anime not related to the anime we have congregated to watch, ER
02:57:27 IronyOwl: man
02:57:37 IronyOwl: still disappointed our waifu deathmatch was so... overdramatic
02:57:40 ER: clearly not anime :P
02:57:44 Devastator: anime.
02:57:53 Devastator: waifu deathmatch being overdramatic?
02:57:59 Devastator: what other kind of waifu deathmatch is there?
02:58:29 IronyOwl: I don't mean overdramatic in a good way, I mean everyone killed themselves or accidentally into a rock
02:58:47 Devastator: mmm.
02:58:57 IronyOwl: I wonder if I could make some kind of shitty Unity game for this
02:59:37 ER: maybe it's supposed to be a pit of suffering
02:59:37 Devastator: waifu deathmatch?
03:00:54 Devastator: also, very pleased at you guys saying "Nah, no questions" in extinction.
03:00:57 Devastator: very Trence.
03:01:06 IronyOwl: find loot, start swinging!
03:02:20 Devastator: Unfortunately.. the mystery room is not there.
03:02:36 Devastator: but loot there is.
03:02:41 ER: what do you mean, unfortunately
03:03:10 ER: loot grinding and sidequests FIRST
03:03:11 ER: THEN main quest
03:04:47 Devastator: be careful. Sometimes you're on a time limit.
03:05:57 Devastator: and the main quest might have a failure route..
03:06:26 IronyOwl: what's the worst that can happen? :D
03:07:15 IronyOwl: mmm, now that I think of it
03:07:31 IronyOwl: a proper waifu war would probably just be loading waifus into xcom2's recruitment pool or something
03:07:42 Devastator: they're already waifus.
03:08:02 IronyOwl: what, the sneks?
03:08:45 ER: I dunno, only RPG I've really heard of with a doom clock is Tyranny
03:09:10 IronyOwl: Tyranny doesn't really have a doom clock I don't think
03:09:14 IronyOwl: it's just very linear
03:09:54 IronyOwl: speaking of which, it's kind of an interesting game but pretty meh in execution
03:10:27 IronyOwl: the premise is cool, you're the lieutenant of an evil overlord wreaking havoc or else
03:10:44 IronyOwl: but it's mostly standard RPG with some branches
03:27:50 Piecewise: well thats enough for today I think
03:27:58 Piecewise: Blarg
03:28:38 IronyOwl: on to your true calling: watching children die
03:29:10 Devastator: Watching children suffer from horribly botched medical procedures.
03:29:25 IronyOwl: wait that's also his day job I think
03:29:34 Devastator: There's Breath of Fire V for the doom-clock.
03:29:52 IronyOwl: what happens if you run out?
03:31:35 Devastator: nonstandard game over because main character went berzerk with excessive power.
03:31:50 IronyOwl: huh
03:31:54 IronyOwl: well, that's interesting at least
03:32:09 IronyOwl: could make an edgy devil may cry style game outta that
03:32:34 Devastator: I haven't actually played that one. It's a fanbase breaker.
03:32:38 Devastator: you either like it or hate it.
03:32:59 IronyOwl: alas
03:33:11 IronyOwl: speaking of which, you get around to playing second sky?
03:33:46 Devastator: No. It will be a while.. watching that other player put me off it again for a while, I'm less certain about liking it again.
03:33:51 Devastator: I will play it, but not now.
03:33:52 Piecewise: We get to meet bonedaddy tonight
03:34:01 Devastator: hmm, should play some surviv now that internet is decent.
03:34:16 Devastator: always had trouble with bad internet.
03:35:29 IronyOwl: that's what you get for living in a snowbank in the middle of nowhere
03:36:43 Piecewise: otherwise known as all of canada
03:37:21 IronyOwl: well, yes
03:41:17 Devastator: one for one.
03:41:31 Devastator: the win streak is 1.
03:42:16 Devastator: and it dies at 1, dammit.
03:51:26 Devastator: 2 for 4.
03:51:28 Devastator: ok, enough.
03:52:44 IronyOwl: poor luck in the death arena?
03:53:06 Devastator: second game did some poor aim to get killed. Third one was bad luck.
03:53:13 Devastator: won first and fourth.
03:53:46 Devastator: killed a guy called I HACK YOU who probably wasn't hacking, but was kill leader.
03:55:19 Devastator: got him running around a corner with a grenade and finished with a mac-10.
03:55:57 Devastator: guy gave his hand away by trying a few long range shots, so I knew he was following. Had plenty of time to prime it for the surprise kaboom.
03:56:38 IronyOwl: mmm, so what kinds of games do you like?
03:56:52 IronyOwl: I know you play that kill arena, puzzle/challenge games, and apparently JRPGs
03:57:22 IronyOwl: otherwise the only common thread appears to be older games :p
03:57:39 Devastator: Allegiance is the best game ever made.
03:57:48 Devastator: other than that, I basically play whatever I find fun.
04:02:52 IronyOwl: does syv know we're waiting on him tonight as well?
04:04:36 Devastator: I'd hope so, he was on that PM I sent.
04:08:27 Piecewise: That seems reasonable
04:08:33 Piecewise: so we shall never see him again~
04:09:40 Devastator: The curse of the dev.
04:16:55 Piecewise: I swear some of these questions are not at all covered in the text
04:16:57 Devastator: Extinction update.
04:17:01 Devastator: hah.
04:18:51 Devastator: good smbc today.
04:24:13 IronyOwl: seems kinda eh to me
04:28:29 ER: Are scan crystals single target or do they scan every enemy?
04:29:00 Devastator: Trence doesn't know.
04:29:05 Devastator: but he had one used on him.
04:30:34 ER: then I shall use two in my endless hunger for lore
04:30:56 ER: it's maybe nore very Trencelike, but... this is how I play every game
04:31:14 ER: just see every single snippet of text in the game O_O
04:32:04 Devastator: well, no way I'm going to describe every single building in this massive city.
04:32:39 ER: read every single sign in sight
04:32:52 ER: talk to everyone in the port town
04:34:08 IronyOwl: so that's why dev needs a doomsday clock
04:34:20 Devastator: It helps, yes.
04:47:00 IronyOwl: so how long we waiting on syv?
04:47:16 Piecewise: Good question
04:47:17 ER: until he gets here or we leave
04:47:40 Piecewise: someone change sy's name to Gadot
05:01:40 Devastator: sydot
05:05:14 sydot has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:06:00 Piecewise: oh no
05:06:08 Piecewise: is it really sy or just a ruse
05:06:28 Devastator: only sy has his irc join name as GWG.
05:06:33 Devastator: the long-absent GWG.
05:06:42 sydot: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RtT2xYZbWBs
05:07:15 sydot: Movie still says it'll take a day to download, just now it says it's 65% done.
05:07:27 Piecewise: why are you so slow
05:07:41 sydot: Because I live in a swamo.
05:07:48 sydot: *swamp.
05:07:58 Piecewise: swampo
05:08:27 Devastator: surprise parry.
05:09:13 ER: surprise mechanics!
05:09:31 sydot: Always fixing up my car when I least expect it
05:10:45 Piecewise: damn mechanics
05:10:52 Piecewise: under the couch
05:10:54 Piecewise: in the walls
05:11:02 Piecewise: crawling on the ceiling
05:11:20 sydot: Spidermechanic
05:11:42 sydot: Peter Parker decided crimefighting was too risky a profession.
05:15:06 Piecewise: so I'm assuming this download of yours won't be done anytime soon eh?
05:18:54 sydot has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
05:19:14 Devastator: presumably.
05:19:18 Devastator: welp.
05:21:04 Piecewise: Ugh x2
05:21:57 Devastator: mmm
05:22:52 sydot has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:23:35 sydot shrugs
05:23:55 sydot: This is why normally we plan in advance and predownload things.
05:24:10 Piecewise: It has been 5 days since I posted that link I'm pretty sure
05:24:18 sydot: Though typically my internet is at least capable of downloading overnight.
05:24:37 ER: piecewise is just really enthusiastic and thinks we can do it instantly
05:24:42 sydot: And I said I wouldn't download until Sun because of work.
05:24:59 sydot: I also agreed to say when it was done, we never agreed to watch at a specific time.
05:26:01 sydot: Why *are* you so focused on watching with us, Dubs?
05:26:18 IronyOwl: everything's better with accomplices!
05:26:20 IronyOwl: I mean friends
05:27:42 Devastator: Dunno. Made in the Abyss was good fun.
05:27:48 Devastator: I'm happy to watch more of it.
05:30:30 sydot has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
05:31:01 sy has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:34:23 ER: well, I don't mind, this game is pretty entertaining to me
05:35:00 ER: even if it doesn't have any "gameplay", it's not like RPG gameplay is ever entertaining anyways -_o
05:35:18 sy: So it's a visual novel?
05:35:42 ER: with more walking
05:35:53 ER: closer to a point and click in structure, really
05:36:00 sy: So a book-based walking sim!
05:36:04 Devastator: ooh!
05:36:21 Devastator: next ep of Emperor had a text to speech device comes out on the 30th.
05:36:31 Piecewise has quit [Quit: Leaving]
05:36:45 ER: so long, gay bowser
07:33:56 sy: Oh, MiA's finally done.
07:34:03 sy is now known as syv
07:34:05 ER: yay!
07:34:34 ER: meanwhile, I'm playing through Dweller's Empty Path a second time because I like it
07:35:27 Devastator: nifty.
07:40:04 Devastator: got a stream up.
07:40:12 Devastator: found an infinite giant magic missile wand in noita.
07:41:37 Devastator: It does add cast delay, hmph.
07:44:11 syv: Berserkium!
07:45:10 syv: Do you have vampirism?
07:45:21 Devastator: yes
07:46:00 syv: Lucky.
07:46:11 syv: Vampirism, especially early, is so awesome.
07:46:21 syv: Really want a chainsaw, though/
07:46:53 syv: This wand is disappointing.
07:51:13 syv: Ooof
07:51:38 syv: This is definitely not looking like a lategame wand. Pretty decent here, but far from ideal.
07:52:46 Devastator: ooh.
07:53:00 Devastator: Shuffle 'No' cast delay 0.02, recharge 0.23, always extra damage.
07:53:05 Devastator: that's useful.
07:54:25 syv: Oh man
07:54:32 syv: That is QUITE the wand
07:54:46 Devastator: the last one? Yeah. 1500/30, though, so have to be careful about mana.
07:55:07 syv: Nah, just the elements.
07:55:27 syv: Double cast, mist of spirits, fire chain.
07:55:37 Devastator: yeah.
07:55:38 syv: Suicide wands are funny/
07:55:41 Devastator: need some trigger on that, though.
07:55:57 Devastator: saw a worse one with the boomerang/unstable crystal.
08:00:31 Devastator: welp, dead.
08:01:13 syv: No not lethal wands?
08:01:19 syv: Also, kicks
08:02:12 syv: Wow
08:03:58 Devastator: did not think that was livable.
08:05:48 syv: Need to refill your blood bottle.
08:05:59 syv: You'll be getting a health restore regardless.
08:06:40 syv: No no no ru
08:06:55 syv: Just causally standing next to the giant explosive box on fire
08:07:31 syv: Uhh, what's that
08:08:38 Devastator: Hisi Nightclub, it looks like.
08:09:03 syv: Nice
08:09:07 Devastator: aww
08:09:36 syv: "Big bomb" I guess
08:13:19 ER: hmm yesss, encourage you to put Escaped Chasm and Dweller's Empty Path on your "play eventually" lists
08:13:56 syv: Itch games from that bundle?
08:14:03 syv: Any others I should add to this list?
08:14:12 syv: Also I responded to your PM.
08:14:23 syv: Ooooh, lookit all that blood
08:15:01 syv: MORE BLOOD
08:15:34 ER: not from the bundle, just free
08:15:37 syv: Oh, protip, pressing 1/2/3/4 switches to the bottles.
08:15:50 ER: responded to your responded also, syv
08:16:55 ER: I haven't been playing bundle games too recently, and the most recent ones were a little underwhelming to me
08:18:04 Devastator: and misclick.
08:18:29 syv: Aww, did you die while I was reloading the stream?
08:18:49 Devastator: yeah, misclicked and tried to fire while drinking.
08:18:52 syv: I hope I can't fail empathy now. :(
08:19:09 Devastator: if that wand was more lethal I'd just have died sooner.
08:19:42 ER: guess I'd recommend... RYM 9000 as a trippy looking twitch shmup, Witchway as a short and chill puzzle platformer, Lenna's Inception as a sorta kinda clever proceedural zeldalike, and This Strange Realm of Mine as a decent FPS with a trippy story
08:20:57 ER: ah yes, and Minit, a sort of puzzle game where you only live for 60 seconds
08:21:33 ER: Minit is probably the best of the ones I've played, but I'm saving Pyre for when I need a good long one
08:23:05 syv: Thank you!
08:25:29 ER: do play Dweller's Empty Path though, Yoki's cute
08:30:49 syv: Ok.
08:45:34 ER: hmmmm
08:45:47 ER: yup, I think that's all I got

08:56:48 ChanServ changed topic of #einsteinianroulette to: Fleshorrors dream of feline BASS
09:05:08 ER: or wait, one more thing, syv
09:05:18 syv: Huh?
09:05:49 ER: discord?
09:45:52 syv: Had a setting idea vaugely inspired by MiA.
09:46:25 ER: join the club
09:46:45 syv: There's multiple different dimensions, all of which loop at the edges. Each dimension is smaller than the last, and you have to proceed through them in order.
09:48:00 syv: You can get into the next one by forming a special kind of magic circle within a magical nexus of a higher level dimension. These magical nexuses gradually wander about the landscape, changing position with the seasons, though in a steady pattern.
09:48:22 ER: Hmm. I had an errent feeling earlier, involving dying and ending up in an inert place, and having to forever dig deeper because hell is coming from above
09:48:44 ER: which might just be backwards mous or whatever it was called but whatever
09:49:18 syv: Where you go in the next layer down is dependent more on the specific traits of your portal, than on actual physical location. It also is affected by the "season" of the next layer down. Nexuses tend to repulse teleports into them.
09:50:55 syv: At the very top layer, it's a whole planet, so lots of different civilizations with no contact have access to the second layer, which is much smaller, and since location you end up is dependant on your circle and the layer's season rather than your own world (where season only affects *when* you can travel), they have a lot more contact and clashes when exploring the lower layers.
09:51:26 IronyOwl: ooh, that's kinda cool
09:51:41 IronyOwl: sort of a brawl for the underworld from civs that only vaguely know of each other overland
09:52:20 syv: The deeper you go, the less other explorers there are from other civs (because deeper is harder to get to and more dangerous), but the more dangerous they are, for the same reason. And the chances of meeting them is about the same, since each layer is smaller.
09:53:06 syv: There's some construction and fortification of areas within the layers, and some civs practice a kind of safe seasonal exploration, where they just wait for a seasonal nexus to pass over their fortress before they launch expeditions.
09:53:28 IronyOwl: always a fan of colonizing hell
09:53:45 syv: But if you're willing to brave the wilderness, you can go basically whenever, just you have to find new paths and you risk running into other explorers who are hunting the same nexus.
09:53:59 syv: Dunno how going up should work, though.
09:54:16 ER: who said you could go up, mortal
09:54:35 syv: I really like MiA's "going up hurts" idea, and I also like lower layers affecting you in a supernatural way.
09:55:23 syv: Living in a layer, IMO, should be something that gradually drives people mad and transforms them. Colonists may be friendly, may even be allied, but they're all strange and dangerous people.
09:55:36 IronyOwl: clearly!
09:56:21 ER: remember how pretty much every single NPC in DS1 ends their dialogue with an inexplicable laugh?
09:56:29 syv: Yeah.
09:56:36 ER: He he he
09:57:17 syv: I kinda want it to be a game like that old tile-based exploration Dubs kept trying, where inventory management was core. But unlike that, every time you enter a layer, you're starting at some random ass spot in the wilderness.
09:58:00 syv: You can kinda figure out how the portals work, and learn the seasons to predict things, but at the beginning you're just blind. You have to make your own world map, and figure out the teleport/season system on your own through trial-and-error.
09:58:46 syv: Early on you'd be going one layer down to collect basic resources, but later you just want to plan the fastest routes through the first few layers to get to the hellish bottom, where the awesome stuff is hidden.
09:59:15 syv: But you still need to use your maps and knowledge from the early expeditions to support that, and there's still possible risks from conflicts with other civs.
09:59:48 syv: Also, I want an expedition to just randomly get teleported into an ocean.
10:00:35 ER: now, this all sounds fun, but what if I just put some random people in a cave full of bad things in order to extract suffering
10:00:55 syv: That would probably work better.
10:02:06 syv: Now this is making me want to work on Mauser again. Which is basically the same upsidedown pyramid, but you can only go down, which happens quickly after death, and every layer is more hellish.
10:03:12 syv: Literally descending through the circles of hell, except there's infinite circles, and each one is more crowded, so you're actually only fighting to just not go to a worse place.
10:07:45 ER: at least my hell has an escape hatch
10:08:04 ER: well, the only escape hatch in existance
10:08:16 ER: actually it's a pretty rad place~
10:09:02 syv: Yeah, less mercilessly depressing.
10:09:27 syv: Mauser's supposed to be a mindless dungeon crawl filled with random violence and backstabbing.
10:09:51 syv: The upsidedown pyramid realms exploration game would be more optimistic, I think.
10:10:01 syv: At least as optimistic as Roadside Picnic.
10:10:24 ER: that doesn't seem *particularly* optimistic?
10:11:18 syv: At its core it's about optimism and striving for victory and goodness in a strange insane world that hates you and keeps kicking you down every time you try.
10:11:51 ER: mhm
10:12:13 syv: Which is more optimistic than "You're fucked, you're going to suffer, and if you get lucky you might suffer only a little bit worse for awhile before suffering a lot more"
10:12:40 ER: well I'll be sure to clairify that all the people who ended up in the suffering pit will, after dying, go to a very good place where benevolant angels give them therapy
10:13:08 syv: Should finish that cat setting.
10:13:33 ER: afterlives make the mood of a setting go fucky
10:14:49 ER: what cat setting?
10:16:13 syv: The cat vs mouse setting?
10:16:18 syv: With Rakiit?
10:16:33 ER: that one
10:17:02 ER: good excuse to play as an offbrand katia there
10:23:09 ER: well, what do we still need for that setting anyways?
10:23:15 syv: I forget.
10:24:47 ER: I feel like we may was have fleshed it out pretty well except like, specifics as to the local area?
10:25:20 ER: I might have wanted to write some stuff for the mouse pantheon or maybe I already did
10:28:12 syv: I think the mouse pantheon was mostly empty.
10:28:42 syv: Some of the related adventure stuff for the cats wasn't completely written up.
10:29:01 syv: There was no pre-built plots or characters, but I think that was gonna be left for Dev.
10:29:21 syv: Mostly it needed to be cleaned up and finished. Rather than being pages of chaotic rambling with logs mixed in.
10:30:10 ER: Dev's never gonna run it anyways
10:30:51 ER: the point of working more on it would be either to amuse ourselves or salvage it to add to the pile of games to run someday
10:31:03 syv: He's told me a couple times "I would've run that cat game instead of [game he just started] if you had finished it."
10:31:04 ER: so we may as well build specifics
10:31:14 ER: and we didn't!
