01:01:12 Devastator: Also, plot.
01:16:09 IronyOwl has joined #einsteinianroulette
01:16:32 Devastator: Heya.
01:16:36 IronyOwl: hey
01:16:46 Devastator: Okay if we do it in public?
01:17:11 IronyOwl: yeah
01:17:38 Devastator: aight.
01:18:01 Devastator: the first part of the dissection is done non-destructively. They try to image as much of the brain as possible.
01:18:17 Devastator: identify major structures, look for combat damage and other damage, and all that.
01:19:06 Devastator: What they find first is that the brain isn't, as you understand it, wholly dead.
01:19:37 IronyOwl: excellent and somewhat hoped for!
01:20:37 Devastator: well.. maybe not.
01:20:45 Devastator: there are three further findings they make to that.
01:21:10 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
01:21:44 Devastator: Firstly, it isn't a fully formed brain. It's sort of a hybrid thing, like it's capable of doing reflex actions, but not more than that.
01:21:59 ER: unless you changed how research costs work, that's not true
01:22:13 Devastator: 20 per turn, yeah.
01:22:19 IronyOwl: mmmmmmm?
01:22:21 ER: y
01:22:29 IronyOwl: but yeah, we kinda suspected they were remote controlled
01:22:42 Devastator: well, they sort of are. They're semi-autonomous.
01:23:59 Devastator: but the weird part is the antenna. It looks like it's rigged to be destroyed should the remaining part of the brain cease to function. There is some relation to the stuff the council uses to track the Kaiju, and although you aren't an expert on that, you can get enough information to know that the location of the kaiju is being sent back somehow.
01:26:00 Devastator: The third discovery is there is a part of the brain which isn't made of the blue stuff all kaiju parts are. There is a metallic case attached to that antenna.
01:26:13 IronyOwl: ooooh, cybernetics eh?
01:26:31 Devastator: Now you do have electronics experts, so you eventually puzzle it out.
01:27:09 Devastator: It's a physical key generator, like it creates complex, encoded signals upon demand.
01:28:38 IronyOwl: aaaaaah
01:28:47 IronyOwl: so that's how they get in n out of... wherever they come from/go to
01:29:12 IronyOwl: and also how we plot our way to their hideous realm to set off a nuke and/or sue them for damages
01:30:07 Devastator: Well.. no, that's not quite 'how they get in and out.'
01:30:16 Devastator: there's no part of the brain that could concievably make said portals.
01:30:35 Devastator: but it's a very reasonable assumption that the key generator would signal such a transition, yes.
01:35:30 Devastator: or has some other, important role in the process.
01:36:57 Devastator: Mechanically, in gameplay terms you can recover one of three things from a Kaiju Brain.
01:37:30 Devastator: the antenna, or communications unit, which would theoretically let you either design something that could snoop on kaiju communications, and get information on the orders and instructions of incoming Kaiju,
01:37:51 Devastator: or make a communications unit that would allow something to send back information from the other side of the kaiju portals.
01:38:04 ER: huh, UPF, huh
01:38:09 Devastator: The key generator, which clearly has an important part of the whole process.
01:38:27 Devastator: or some Kaiju Nervous Tissue, which will be like the other processed Kaiju bits.
01:40:09 ER: Cly we need to jam some Unified Peace Front scientists into a submarine with both the key and communication device
01:40:31 ER: and they'll either sort things out peacefully or give us a good casus belli!
01:41:00 Devastator: You have a pretty okay casus belli already.. ;-p
01:41:23 ER: I mean "give me all the money"
01:45:32 IronyOwl: gosh
01:45:42 IronyOwl: pretty sure I'm gonna need to go for the comm unit
01:45:54 IronyOwl: nervous tissue is tempting for bote, but not really necessary
01:46:14 IronyOwl: ...although I'll bet I could pull off some kind of organic fighter drone swarm shenanigans with it
01:46:43 IronyOwl: plot box is nice and all, but we can't really use it atm
01:47:01 IronyOwl: so it'd just be a key acquired way early in the level, taking up inventory space until we figure out where the door is
01:47:19 IronyOwl: the comm unit might allow me to tune in to kaiju soap operas
01:49:06 IronyOwl: hey er, how's your current listening post tech work?
01:50:07 ER: maaaagic
01:51:15 Devastator: maagic.
01:51:23 Devastator: no, they're not really similar at all.
01:51:59 Devastator: comm post wouldn't give you the intel ER gets.
01:52:04 Devastator: ER doesn't get the intel a comm post would give.
01:52:50 IronyOwl: intercepting kaiju communications sounds REALLY nice, I'm gonna go for that
01:53:49 IronyOwl: unrelated, watched that sc video you linked
01:54:00 IronyOwl: the skin doesn't feel like a skin
01:54:10 IronyOwl: feels like an entirely different game
01:54:28 Devastator: yeah.
01:54:31 Devastator: it's a skin.
01:54:39 Devastator: Sure.
01:55:19 Devastator: You recover a Kaiju Antenna Rectifier. ;-p
01:55:28 ER: RECT
01:56:51 Devastator: changed to Communication Rectifier.
01:58:13 Devastator: No, no bizarre psychic events. ;-p
01:58:26 IronyOwl: YET! :>
01:59:21 Devastator: Yeah, yet.
01:59:27 Devastator: dice will deliver one day.
01:59:48 Devastator: and yeah, that skin is something. Same game as BW, just a skin.
02:00:39 Devastator: do note that you'll need to research either of those two buildings, too, btw.
02:00:55 Devastator: well, either the building or the unit equipment.
02:01:23 Devastator: won't be too long.
02:03:01 IronyOwl: is it just the two preset things I can research, or are there other possibilities?
02:03:25 Devastator: For the plot antenna? Yeah probably.
02:03:33 Devastator: but did you have something else in mind?
02:03:42 Devastator: I mean, nervous tissue can be used for normal stuff.
02:03:58 IronyOwl: not actually, I'm just highly amused by the thought of trying to tap into completely militarily-unrelated alien communications
02:06:01 Devastator: you have no idea what you might find that way.
02:06:12 Devastator: Tell you what, if you want to try for that I'll let you design that building.
02:06:24 Devastator: tack on probably another month and a bit more to build, but sure.
02:07:05 IronyOwl: you mean I could tap into alien advertising and news reports on colonization efforts? :D
02:10:32 Devastator: sure.
02:10:37 Devastator: if they're sending those to your dimension.
02:22:22 Devastator: you know, I do like NG's projects for one thing. I get to describe whatever craziness her units get up to as simply 'being friendly' or 'being energetic.' when they're about to escape.
02:23:38 IronyOwl: hahaha
02:23:46 IronyOwl: murder hornet wants a kiss!
02:24:22 ER: she should make a god-ai to coordinate our strategy next~
02:24:37 Devastator: well that's what she made last time.
02:24:50 Devastator: and hey, her single bug scored damage.
02:25:06 Devastator: I'm just disappointed she doesn't spend money on exotic animals. ;-p
02:25:26 Devastator: or ask me if she can buy stuff like t-rex amber or something.
02:27:16 Devastator: "Oh, I'm going to make a horrific monster. I know, I'll start with a raccoon!"
02:27:18 Devastator: she has money..
02:27:50 ER: take a dolphin
02:27:58 ER: fuck, that's actually a great idea
02:29:01 Devastator: it'd be better than a raccoon.
02:29:09 Devastator: otoh, she'd need to add range to it.
02:29:14 Devastator: which, you know, is possible.
02:29:40 ER: a swarm of dolphins with added weapons
02:29:56 ER: just hunt down kaiju while they're submerged and dick them
02:32:13 Devastator: gotta get your deployments down.
02:32:27 IronyOwl: honestly a dire raccoon sounds like a pretty good soldier
02:32:38 IronyOwl: large, ornery, got lil hands for holding his lil rocket launcher
02:36:53 Devastator: mmm, fair point that.
02:37:06 Devastator: nobody other than ER made any creatures that have weapon slots. ;-p
02:37:19 Devastator: well, except maybe those dubs bugs.
02:37:23 Devastator: but they don't have slots, really.
02:37:27 Devastator: just insanely powerful guns.

08:06:42 ER: sad~
08:06:50 syv: sad?
08:06:59 ER: sad!?
08:16:07 ER: when ps!
08:17:40 syv: After I finish working on this fucking email.
08:17:58 ER: ooh, a fucking email!
08:18:01 ER: scanaldous!
08:23:52 Devastator: I'm still amused at how Katia is physically incapable of changing clothing non-instantaneously.
08:31:55 syv: "Uh, I liked the striptease, yes, but... maybe next time do it a little slower, please?"
08:36:13 Devastator: It's like the most bizarre handicap I've ever heard of anyone having in fiction.
08:36:31 syv: It's hard to call a handicap, methinks.
08:36:42 syv: It's more than she has no real sense of propriety with it.
08:36:55 Devastator: "You explain that you’ve always been remarkably quick at getting in and out of clothing. Some people would consider this a skill, but for you it’s always been more of a liability."
08:37:18 syv: Because she had too much sex and regrets it...?
08:38:10 Devastator: basically.
08:38:32 Devastator: but the last update makes it obvious that she's actually physically incapable of not changing clothes instantaneously.
08:38:45 syv: I should check it.
08:39:08 Devastator: oh, I thought you saw it already.
08:39:38 syv: Somehow, no.
08:47:42 Devastator: At some point the players have to get her to stress-test it.
08:47:52 Devastator: 'put on all the clothes'
08:48:35 ER: I still think she should rapid swap in combat
08:51:09 Devastator: that might also be useful.
08:51:12 Devastator: maybe she can do other people.
08:51:18 Devastator: 'no more amour'
08:51:48 syv: Nah, it's just Oblivion's insta equip.
08:51:52 syv: One item per slot, no more.
08:52:08 syv: Though actually she should be able to do other people.
08:52:21 syv: But only if she gives them better clothes, I think.
08:52:41 syv: She probably has a strong need for them to consent.
08:53:36 ER: more like the opposite because you have to be pickpocketing, right?
08:53:48 ER: if they're *aware* of you, you're not able to
08:54:17 syv: Yeah, but IIRC you can't steal someone's clothes unless they equip something else. And they autoequip the best stuff in their inv.
08:54:28 ER: yeah
08:54:33 syv: So you can give someone daedric platemail, and they'll wear that instead of their civvie outfit.
08:54:48 syv: Actually, I think it works to give them daedric boots, if they have a full "outfit" item.
08:55:17 syv: NPC mages will strip themselves naked if they get a rando "summon bound boots" spell.
08:55:26 syv: Because mage robes count as shoes.
08:56:03 Devastator: well, then, 'summon bound armour on target'
08:56:22 Devastator: also the old reverse-pickpocket a mage hood that'll kill people when equipped.
08:57:21 syv: But yeah, she can't steal someone's clothes unless she has clothes they like better.
08:57:32 syv: Which implies consent is necessary.
08:57:40 syv: Or at least her believing they'd give consent.
08:58:11 ER: but you still can't reverse pickpocket anyone WITH their consent
08:58:33 ER: they just find a thing in their pockets and think "I like this better than what I'm wearing"
08:58:54 Devastator: It works even when they're sleeping.
08:59:23 Devastator: although, mind you, she did strip someone naked already, come to think of it.

09:01:22 Devastator: Just looked it up.
09:01:23 ER: hey hey people
09:01:31 Devastator: the visual catalog makes it much easier to do that now.
09:01:51 Devastator: remind me, NJW, have you read "Making a cat cry, The Adventure?"
09:02:04 ER: nah, he just has naked sigrid on bookmark
09:02:04 NJW: I don't think so
09:02:07 NJW: what is it?
09:02:14 ER: prequel
09:02:31 NJW: to?
09:02:41 ER: oblivion :P
09:02:53 syv: It's excellent.
09:02:57 Devastator: https://www.prequeladventure.com/
09:03:05 Devastator: It is the best MSPFA of all time.
09:03:12 syv: It's a dramatic story about a chronically naked catgirl who would prefer to not be chronically naked.
09:03:24 syv: And it has flash animations, sometimes!
09:03:44 syv: There's even a poledancing minigame.
09:03:59 NJW: :<
09:04:01 NJW: lewd
09:04:10 syv: Not really.
09:04:36 ER: you weren't very good at making that description not-lewd, syv

09:05:09 Devastator: but it's something.
09:05:36 syv: But yeah, best webcomic I've ever read.
09:05:45 syv: And I've read most of Unsounded.
09:05:52 syv: And Digger.
09:05:54 ER: how dare you! D:
09:05:58 syv: Which really isn't even close.
09:06:04 ER: cly unsounded gets the one crown
09:06:11 syv: Nah.
09:06:32 syv: Unsounded is great, but mostly just has better art and an original setting.
09:06:44 syv: Prequel *easily* wins as far as quality of writing.
09:07:09 syv: And the simpler style really doesn't hurt it much at all.
09:07:41 syv: Hell, I have a panel from Prequel hanging on my wall, but nothing in Unsounded made me think "yeaaah, that would be nice to see frequently."
09:08:08 Devastator: which panel?
09:08:29 Devastator: unless you bought the tapestry.
09:08:48 syv: Oh, I have that too.
09:08:53 syv: I'll find it, a min.
09:11:00 syv: https://www.prequeladventure.com/this/story1687.gif
09:11:11 syv: Take damn near any panel from Unsounded, better art.
09:11:15 syv: Worse scene.
09:12:27 Devastator: mmm, pegboard.
09:16:22 Devastator: okay.

09:21:30 syv: I read through it, forgot to send a PM about my thoughts.

09:22:08 syv: Sometimes he's MJ.
09:22:30 syv: I feel like Katia would be uncomfortable with someone else stripping her naked.
09:22:48 syv: Furthermore, I suspect that someone being an animate corpse would not improve the situation.
09:23:50 NJW has quit [Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client]

09:26:05 ER: F
09:26:13 ER: so anime? :D
09:26:16 syv: My most notable thought on the mechsuit game was that there seemed to be no map, or easily referenced list of equipped modules--beyond the one in the firstpost, which seemed to be private..? That would mean you have to think more about where all the other people are in reference to you, and read and track their turns to figure out what they have equipped.
09:26:28 syv: It's almost six in the morning, Egan.
09:26:41 ER: does that matter for you?
09:27:09 syv: No, but the fact that I should really work on stuff before morning comes properly does.

09:47:24 syv: *headdesk*

10:34:21 syv: Saying my name does ping me though.
10:34:23 NJW: In any case, the comments about the mechsuit game make sense.
10:35:36 syv: Yeah. I don't know about the actual players, but not having an easy in-turn reference made me slightly confused at a couple points, and I know I've referenced charsheets to find a good target, in similar arena games.
10:35:42 NJW: Better bookkeeping would improve it. Kinda thinking about letting it die though - not finding it a lot of fun to update, and diverse as the combat is, none of it is particularly interesting.
10:36:06 syv: Yeah. Interesting little idea, but it's still functionally a standard slugfest.
10:36:35 syv: I like your narrative writing much more.
10:37:52 NJW: narrative rtds do feel more worthwhile. Wizard school time!

10:41:30 NJW: you can't know that I didn't~
10:42:01 NJW: the RTD and FGRP forums are quite weird atm... RTDs fill up faster than they used to, despite the forums being waaay quieter.
10:42:46 ER: yeah... I think we might not have enough GMs
10:43:05 ER: but it's a good throught that the player interest remains there, though

10:57:15 RadioControlled: Ooh, right! Wanted to play that but didn't have the time I think.
10:57:32 ER: bluh, I should update my RTD
10:57:50 ER: it just feels monumentally uninteresting, sometimes
10:58:14 ER: but also it has an actual planned ending, and I told myself I'd get there, and there's a shopcat
10:58:20 RadioControlled: Then throw in some bullshit to make it interesting~
10:58:41 ER: the bullshit is there
10:59:04 syv: He keeps running games about murdering NPCs.
10:59:15 syv: And then he feels bad when I gleefully murder all his NPCs.
10:59:27 ER: but I'm using an actual system for combat rather than narrative which is meh
10:59:32 RadioControlled: Murdering of NPCs tends to happen, yes.
10:59:33 syv: I don't think either of us really know what to do about this.
10:59:50 RadioControlled: Hmm, then either do a PvP game again, or a game where murder isn't the way to deal with challenges?
10:59:54 ER: I mean, it's clear
11:00:01 ER: run refine / scavenger game
11:00:10 ER: and probably not FMD
11:00:10 syv salivates
11:00:23 syv 's salivation continues
11:00:26 RadioControlled: Like, would you feel bad for your NPCs in eg. a game about outcompeting your rivals in a commercial setting?
11:00:42 ER: boooooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiing
11:00:44 syv: I think he just wants to run a game about people murdering things.
11:01:02 ER: I make games about murdering humans because I love murdering humans in games
11:01:14 RadioControlled: Capitalism can be interesting!
11:01:27 RadioControlled: Could do a game about fighting things that are not humans then.
11:01:30 syv: (ER) I make games about murdering humans because I love murdering humans
11:01:45 ER: but then, I love destroying bloodfilled human-shaped faximilies in videogames
11:02:07 ER: and when I' playing an RTD, that's usually what I see
11:02:22 RadioControlled: do a repeat of that farming game where you have to fight the earth. If only so I can give suggestions to Gaia about pyroclastic death from above in verse again.
11:02:27 ER: when I'm making an RTD, my character-building insinct kicks in
11:02:50 ER: and then I get the play the role of some people who the players, hey, see are fun murder targets
11:03:02 ER: no
11:03:12 RadioControlled: Aww, but it was so fun!
11:03:25 ER: but yes, games about fighting things that aren't human
11:03:26 syv: Damn near all his games are so fun.
11:03:40 syv: Problem is they're fun for everyone except *him*. :P
11:03:56 ER: refine would involve vanishlingly little fighting humans
11:03:57 RadioControlled: P&P3 when
11:04:05 RadioControlled: :p
11:04:07 ER: maybe
11:04:21 syv: God I'd love it if P&P could be worked out to fix the flaws.
11:04:34 ER: just let you fucks kill each other
11:04:36 syv: When that game worked, it *worked*, so well
11:04:45 ER: no sympathy for PCs, they're all terrible~
11:04:53 RadioControlled: I just wanna squish mages, mkay?
11:04:56 syv: The return of Narcissus!
11:05:14 ER: "narcissus, but again"
11:05:30 syv: He was so fun to play.
11:05:37 RadioControlled: Narcissus 2: egotistic boogaloo.
11:05:43 syv: And he's got the awesome Trump Character clause--
11:05:53 RadioControlled: Queh?
11:05:54 syv: If he dies, I don't feel bad, because *I* hate him too!
11:05:58 RadioControlled: Heh.
11:06:25 RadioControlled: It is fun to play as characters you don't mind dying from time to time, lets you be sillier and take more risks.
11:06:43 RadioControlled: Which is why Abu was fun for me back in Chalice.
11:07:05 ER: stop that! no silliness!
11:07:17 ER: also, good morning!
11:07:27 syv: ...Damn it.
11:07:45 ER: here comes the sun, do do do do
11:08:05 RadioControlled: I'm not catching the reference right now :v
11:08:39 syv: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xUNqsfFUwhY
11:09:04 RadioControlled: Ah, yeah, that song I know.
11:11:22 RadioControlled: I wonder if your action in mook is gonna unleash a killbot on us, syv.
11:11:51 RadioControlled: It'd be right when other people aggro the two security androids as well, so perfect timing.
11:12:13 syv: :)
11:12:42 RadioControlled: I'll just be here hiding among these mountains of live ammunition.
11:12:56 RadioControlled: Good plan great job.
11:13:04 syv: Oh yeah, meant to post and ask about those.
11:13:26 syv: I already have a massive stack of bullets, but you can't really have too many bullets.
11:14:05 RadioControlled: Truer words have rarely been spoken.
11:14:15 RadioControlled: Let's see if I can slice open that door.
11:15:05 RadioControlled: I feel like this whole sector is schmuck bait though, given the amount of possibly hostile/dangerous loot it seems to have.
11:16:14 syv: It did come right after the true shmuck bait sector, which we had difficulty accessing, and which also had a guaranteed-hit lethal AoE trap.
11:16:27 syv: Might just be the reward for not dying in there.
11:16:52 RadioControlled: Maybe the sectors will just increase in schmuckyness from here on out.
11:17:30 RadioControlled: Or maybe the next sector will have the mind control dude and this is a way to properly arm us up for efficient teamkilling.
11:17:41 ER: the real shmuck bait is playing mook at all
11:17:46 ER: tilde
11:18:51 RadioControlled: Didn't /you/ play it for a while?
11:19:29 RadioControlled: I'm having fun with it, at least.
11:21:17 RadioControlled: Anyways, lunch is all gone, so that's it for me for today.
11:21:32 ER: I find it far too crowded and demanding for how inspiring it is
11:21:52 RadioControlled: Thank ya'll fabulous people for being mildly entertaining, 7/10 would chat again.
11:22:02 RadioControlled: Laters!

11:22:05 syv: Good bye, RC.
11:22:09 syv: >.<
11:22:20 ER: <.>
11:23:01 syv: I synced two minutes of gameplay to a song, doing nothing more to edit the video, and am really happy with the result.
11:23:24 syv: I think I'm gonna actually make a youtube account.
11:30:48 ER: do you figure that FMD would involve a lot of fighting with humans? I kinda do, both because it's a bad warzone and the PC's are empowered children who might get into fights, and because the badguy aliens will probably try to use soldiers as shields.
11:31:02 ER: maybe I could encourage nonlethal methods?
11:31:14 ER: or just have a lot of drones
11:31:38 syv: Give nonlethal options, definitely. Like in Xenonauts, the stunsticks and gas grenades.
11:32:04 syv: I don't think FMD would need much human vs human combat, if the players are killing humans they've prolly fucked up.
11:32:24 ER: or just make them the same options but flavor them as nonlethal. it's not hard to make magic bolts knock people out
11:36:38 ER: and if you're using a normal gun, the bullets are magical by virtue of being shot from a weapon held by ann MG
11:37:08 syv: Seems reasonable enough.
11:37:48 ER: having those as seperate options means PCs might not build for them on the reasoning that being nonlethal doesn't help them
11:44:28 syv: Very true.
11:44:47 syv: Though there will almost inevitably be *someone* who chooses to be the goody goody innocent.
11:45:21 ER: almost as inevitably as there will be the rage filled murderhobo
11:46:30 syv: Yes.

13:27:55 ER: too bad
13:41:35 ER: ooh https://youtu.be/6jli5MwO9Qk
13:49:01 syv: I have too little internet to watch, what's notable about it?
13:49:19 ER: oh, just saw the title
13:50:02 NJW: bizarrely conceived taser shotgun. Fires something like a double bola with an uncovered live wire between them?
13:53:06 syv: That's pretty neat!
13:53:22 syv: Sounds kinda dumb, but neat.
13:53:38 ER: welp, I just now realized how pump shotguns work mechanically
13:53:49 syv: Pfff
13:53:58 syv: ...Hrm.
13:54:11 ER: $120 tazer shells!
13:54:23 syv: God, I think I understood that before I understood how cars work.
13:54:39 ER: how do cars work? :P
13:55:43 syv: ...I was thinking of how they rotate axles to rotate wheels, which cause it to go forward by friction, but then that's incomplete without an understanding of engines, which took much longer.
13:56:03 syv: By friction? Is that even the right way to say that?
13:56:12 syv: ...Damn it, how *do* wheels work?
13:56:26 ER: I guess
13:56:39 ER: friction is also how feet work, technically!
13:56:47 ER: no friction, no working
13:58:45 ER: they also made shotguns specifically to only take the taser shell, because someone mixing up their shells would probably be bad optics, and apparently this means those shotguns legally aren't firearms, because they physically cannot fire lethal ammunition
13:59:22 ER: though shooting someone with one of those from too close would probably be pretty bad... eh, they're expensive

14:06:47 Topic set by syv [Sunday 01 March 2020, 07:55:55]
14:13:35 syv: "They were tinkering with a 40mm grenade launcher system"
14:13:36 syv: Ahahahahaaha
14:13:54 syv: Makes sense, and yet is just so perfect!
14:16:41 ER: I wonder if you could fit a drone into a 40mm grenade
14:16:55 syv: Absolutely.
14:17:04 syv: There's remote drones smaller than 40mm rounds.
14:17:26 syv: Making it work well as a deployment method would be questionable, though.
14:17:28 ER: would they survive being shot out of a grenade launcher, tho :P
14:17:49 NJW has quit [Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client]
14:17:58 syv: I think you could probably do that, actually. 40mm is pretty low velocity, and you can always lower it further.
14:18:04 ER: I dunno, launching lil robots out of a mortar is funny to me
14:18:35 syv: That would make more sense, actually.
14:18:40 syv: Literally, a mortar shell.
14:18:52 syv: Or go whole hog and make it a howitzer shell.
14:18:53 ER: best idea
14:19:15 syv: Load it up with fifty automated drones that are released at the target location, and scan a bunch of stuff chaotically.
14:19:24 ER: launch a whole drone swarm out of a self-propelled artillery
14:19:35 syv: None of them need to be reliable because you can jam fifty in. It's a howitzer, so it adds miles to your range.
14:20:01 syv: Maybe fire a second shell which deploys a lil parachute and acts as a signal relay to transmit what they see back to you.
14:20:31 syv: Does it really make sense? Naaah. Is it conceivable? Sure!
14:21:03 ER: perfectly reasonable
14:28:07 ER: http://www.casualvillain.com/Unsounded/comic/ch15/ch15_78.html
14:32:53 ER: (nothing in particular there, just like the page and it's philosophical musings)
14:41:53 syv: Hrm.
14:42:29 syv: Duane very nearly became one of the spellwriters, and he totally could've done it well.
14:43:01 syv: Also, "its". Sorry, that's just a pet peeve because of Piecewise constantly messing it up.
14:43:25 syv: I like how he draws Sette.

15:02:22 syv: Egan, you linked me forgotten weapons, and now I've watched both his Calico videos.
15:02:42 syv: And I'm amazed at the thing, I always thought it was a dumb meme, but no, it's amazing.
15:03:17 syv: Top comment on the actual test fire video is "After years of silence, Calico's phone starts ringing madly..."
15:03:39 syv: Which is pretty accurate, I want one myself now. :<
15:04:08 ER: what this
15:04:31 syv: ...Of course you don't know what a Calico is.
15:04:49 ER: this looks odd
15:05:02 syv: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CbKj2t7MnBg
15:05:09 syv: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YqhLfEmNuEA
15:05:39 syv: I thought it was singlestack, straight blowback, had no alternative sights, and was unreliable.
15:05:57 syv: Throw in that it just has a really nice design and takedown in general, which is always a bonus.
15:06:49 syv: I *hate* disassembling anything based on an AK or AR-15, but my PS90 takes down like a dream. This isn't all that far off.
15:49:45 ER: "How much of thing with bad reputation's reputation is from user error?"
15:54:22 syv: Reading through the comments, it does seem like it's more than just that. It's choicy about ammo, only runs well with high pressure stuff like the military uses (which apparently *is* in the manual, at least), and gets dirty really easily... though cleaning your gun every few mags is not a real issue when you're using 100 rnd mags.
15:59:11 ER: 100 rounds!
16:00:36 ER: though it is true that it's a lot to ask of people that they count to 23 when winding the magazines
16:01:38 syv: Yes.
16:02:00 syv: I also wonder how well it holds spring tension. If you actually *do* need to wind it just before use, that's a problem.
16:02:44 syv: If you can wind it then store it for awhile, that's... pretty fine, really. Something to screw up, potentially, but not a substantial problem for operating the weapon.
16:03:39 syv: I'd think you could put some kind of mechanical indicator in there without adding *too* much cost.
16:04:16 syv: I bet that would've been in the revised model if the company hadn't pretty much died.
16:04:18 ER: probably
16:05:59 ER: someone suggested making it play a tune like a music box :P
16:07:03 syv: A nice, calming, soothing tune.
16:07:12 syv: That suddenly SCREAMS if you go to 24.
16:11:15 ER: why is the topic "fleshorrors" rather than "fleshhorrors"
16:15:39 syv: Because a fleshhorror is a flesh horror, which can be horrors happening to flesh.
16:16:05 syv: Since it's a fleshorror, it's one unified thing, a bastard combination of multiple words which should not go together.
16:16:31 syv: It is not a fles horror. It is not a flesh orror. It is a fleshorror, no less.
16:16:55 ER: not truly flesh nor horror?
16:17:22 syv: Yes. Something all its own. Unique. Pure.
16:17:23 ER: they each only get one half an h. not enough to instansiate the concept
16:18:38 ER: want to play denature? I'd kinda rather do a casual 1-player PM game than a real SG
16:18:46 syv: yes
16:18:47 ER: and I want that FLESH HORROR
16:18:53 syv: Not this moment.
16:19:13 ER: I'd do it slow anyways
16:19:34 syv: Send me a PM, I'll give you a sheet or actions or whatever tomorrow.

23:47:21 NJW: ulp. fingers crossed, I guess
23:47:29 Devastator: yeah. Could be a thousand people.
