01:50:28 Devastator: sweet jebus, caught up on the news today.
01:50:46 Devastator: The wheel just keeps on turning.
02:04:55 Devastator: Huh, case study. The Atlanta protests are winding down because the chief of police waded right into the crowd and is talking to them, so things stay quiet. In Brooklyn they brought out the batons and rubber bullets, and now dozens of people are hurt.
02:06:18 Devastator: one of them takes courage.
02:08:59 Devastator: Good luck everyone.
02:43:13 Devastator: “The Facts Are Unusual,” Says Judge About Acquittal in Mistaken-Home-Invasion-Broom-Sex-Fantasy Case"
02:43:19 Devastator: Lowering the bar, thank you.
02:55:28 ER: turns out, storebought alfredo sauce sucks
03:23:00 Devastator: Oh man, that's a great line,
03:23:02 Devastator: but it's a spoiler.
03:24:07 Devastator: "Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the moon going to hit us in less than twelve hours? Why the hell would we want to go there?"
03:34:02 Devastator: oh my god, that lowering the bar article is even stupider than I thought.

05:38:58 syv: I love every part of this.
05:43:52 Devastator: oh man, I hate to say it, but I'm stepping away for a bit.
05:44:02 Devastator: be back in like an hour.. leaving in five-ish.
05:44:08 syv: Ahkay. I'll be here for awhile. And tomorrow.
05:46:47 Devastator: did finish up chefgame.
05:47:01 Devastator: pretty fun. #2 should be good.
06:24:42 syv: I still haven't read Sh in, like, two months. I really suck at following SGs, even though I quite like them. >.>
06:26:04 Devastator: also, biometal is amazing.
06:26:09 Devastator: like super amazing.
06:30:11 Devastator: you want an insect with d12 int? Go for it.
06:34:57 Devastator: probably, but acid blood.
06:35:07 Devastator: also an extremely expensive 4kg of food.
06:37:26 syv: I updated Ada and Sophia yesterday. Sophia partially failed her inn roll to "ready her rifle", which is an AK, so I had her be unable to figure out where the safety is. It greatly amuses me that neither Egan or
Paris actually knew about how the AK safety works.
06:42:01 syv: The dust cover is the safety, and the fire selector. If it's up, the rifle can't fire, you can't chamber a round, and filth can't easily get inside. If it's down, all those things can happen It's a *terrible* design, and also very unintuitive if you've never operated one.
06:49:59 Devastator: "What if he comes back to life.. and bites you!"
06:50:13 Devastator: "Relax, kiddo, david is like a professional. He's searched at least a dozen corpses.
06:50:17 Devastator: some not bad lines.
07:05:50 syv: Should update today. Don't need to wait on RGU.
07:05:59 syv: Yay asynch time shenanigans.
07:09:25 Devastator: yeah, RGU can show up at some other time.
07:26:14 Devastator: but yeah, biometal can basically be anything, living or dead.

09:35:19 er: Was it an alphabetagamer video?
09:36:24 er: Youtube recced me that video a bunch of times but I stubbornly didn't click because the time I watched an alphabetagamer g
09:36:55 er: Vid he just linked to his own site rather than directly to the game
09:36:56 syv: Yes, it was. The game is Helltaker, free on Steam, you will like.
09:37:05 syv: ...Also, yeah, I noticed that in the desc.
09:38:00 er: And it's more annoying, because he seems to have damn good tastes! >:0

09:43:28 syv: I think you linked that one?
09:44:07 ER: local multiplayer with the steam streaming thing enabled, yeah
09:45:17 ER: hmm, helltaker's a free game with a 10 dollar artbook. clever :P
09:50:47 syv: Apparently the artbook stuff is all unlockable within the game itself, so buying it just means you can skip playing.
09:51:12 syv: So it's just a way to give people the option to donate through Steam. Though I think I'd go through Patreon.
09:51:29 ER: I dreamed that I was watching a bad torture porn b-movie, which had been edited to add stale memes
09:52:40 syv: Hahaha, that sounds amusing
09:52:46 syv: I think I would watch that.
09:53:43 ER: Apparently the movie was like super short, and was made longer by the editing.
09:54:39 ER: because apparrently that's the kind of fake fact that my brain quotes me about the weirdass dream I just had.
09:57:29 syv: This is something that should exist.
09:57:35 syv: I bet
Piecewise would know.
09:58:10 ER: anyway, gonna play helltaker nao

10:32:18 ER: sokoban just aint my element
10:33:36 syv: Hah, figured it out myself.

Dev.
11:52:33 ER: oh yeah,
paris reminded me who vanripper is :P
11:52:51 ER: those daystone animations were great
11:53:49 ER: it's lovely that this is a free game with a dlc which contains a pancake recipie, and the dlc is actually unlockable without paying.
11:54:35 ER: you have to do one or the other!
11:54:39 syv: I'm kinda surprised by how short it is, considering the amount of art in it.
11:55:06 ER: Hmm, yeah, it could have been longer with the same amount of art.
11:55:07 syv: No, the "DLC" is an itch link with a password, both given after the secret ending.
11:55:29 syv: I could just send both to you and you'd be able to grab it.
11:56:08 syv: I suppose it's less work than animating a full episode of daystone, and does last longer.
11:56:12 ER: Malina really is
dev. At the end she complains about modern game design, then produces a large bottle of booze
11:56:26 syv: Yep, exactly what made me comment on it.
11:57:06 ER: well, I made sure you beat the game before I talked about it ;p
11:58:21 syv: I kinda hope he does something more with these assets. Just going on the nature of the writing, I'm guessing he won't, but it's charming all the same. More would be nice.
11:58:59 ER: I think it's charming how to-the-point it is
12:00:06 ER: there could have been five times as many puzzles and text with the same number of art assests, if he were willing to make all that stuff more fillery. :P
12:00:30 syv: I don't tend to consider text filler
12:01:02 syv: Then again I enjoy visual novels. Which he pretty much has the assets for right there, and was partially parodying the tone of.
12:01:43 syv: Maybe I just want a Vanripper VN?
12:02:44 ER: I don't know if *he* would be into writing that much.
12:03:13 ER: I mean, could be, but I've not seen him do it.
12:03:53 syv: Too bad, I like his brand of humor and silliness.
12:04:08 ER: judging by this he could be a good artist on a team though
12:05:39 syv: I think he worked on Katana Zero?
12:06:08 syv: This game is definitely an awesome ad if he's looking for a job. :v
12:08:39 syv: Thaaat was what I was thinking of, not Katana.
12:09:06 syv: I haven't played either, I'm gonna assume the two are close enough to justify me confusing them. Yes...
12:16:51 ER: They're both... 2d side-on games with a cyberpunk aesthetic about sword-murder with time gimmicks
12:17:01 ER: other than that, nothing alive at all. ;P
12:17:23 ER: I do hear that katana zero is good. I'd like to try it some time

12:42:40 ER: hey if sunstone were a game I'd pay for it
12:43:46 parisbre56: turns out Malina loves UFO enemy unknown
12:44:16 syv: Yeah, I saw that stuff. Thanks anyway.
12:46:53 ER: do you remember if the rules I wrote for vijiriwek said how to roll for initiative :V
12:47:21 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 1 5 5 <Total: 11(+2) = 13>
12:47:22 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 1 4 4 <Total: 9(+2) = 11>
12:47:30 syv: I don't recall rules on initiative.
12:48:10 parisbre56: Agility: Movement, speed, and coordination. Used to move and evade. Rolled for initiative in situations where both parties notice each other simutainiously.
12:48:24 parisbre56: so it looks like the one who ambushes goes first
12:48:35 parisbre56: if nobody ambushes, roll agility
12:48:54 syv: +2 stealth, +2 agility bby
12:49:18 ER: the other thing would be Intu, but Intu already carries a lot and agi doesn't have as much to do comparatively
12:50:25 ER: It would make some amount of sense to roll luck for getting the upper hand in a chaotic situation. Eh, I wrote agi so I'd better do what i say.
12:52:54 parisbre56: assuming things happen at the same time and it's a series of alienating take cover, move and fire actions, it makes sense that those that are quicker will get to act first and then jump back into cover
12:55:04 ER: what do you call the kind of flashlight you wear on your chest
12:55:48 GameServ:
ER rolled 1d4: 4 <Total: 4>
12:56:32 syv: Erm. On your chest? I don't know of specific names, just flashlights that attach to the shoulder, or have a 90° angle and are attached/put in a pocket on the chest.
12:56:44 syv: I think both are called "flashlight"
12:58:10 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 3 5 1 <Total: 9(+3) = 12>
12:58:17 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 5 5 5 <Total: 15(-2) = 13>
12:58:24 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 4 5 2 <Total: 11(-2) = 9>
12:59:43 parisbre56: a quick search reveals "anglehead flashlight" as a possible thing. though I dunno, maybe it's just a brand name
13:00:50 parisbre56: yeah, apparently that's what they're called
13:01:02 parisbre56: there's a frigging blog about flashlights
13:01:48 syv: I am entirely unsurprised.
13:02:08 syv: Take any subject that exists, there's a nerd writing a blog about it somewhere.
13:05:07 GameServ:

13:16:01 syv: Are we at cqb, med, or long distance?
13:16:17 ER: You are at close and the others are at med
13:16:46 ER: congrats, you a tactic are work
13:17:16 ER: I feel like the prep work I did for this *actually* is making it easier for me to do, which is nice

13:23:23 syv: Hrm, only 64% chance of actually killing all three.
13:24:36 syv: Yeaaaah it's probably not bad that it's hard to quickly get three accurate shots with even a great shotgun.
13:26:04 ER: hmm. that is *indeed* enough damage to crunch someone through a helmet
13:37:15 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 5 4 5 <Total: 14(+2) = 16>
13:37:33 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 3 4 3 <Total: 10(+1) = 11>
13:38:18 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 4 6 4 <Total: 14(+1) = 15>
13:38:25 GameServ:
ER rolled 3d6: 3 3 4 <Total: 10(+1) = 11>
13:38:46 ER: isn't 6 accuracy a *little* crazy, you think?
13:39:54 ER: might have to change out-of-cover to "half" point shot penalty
13:40:06 ER: despite that being a little bit jank
13:55:34 ER:
syv, does anything unusual happen if the final blow on a witch is struck by the creation of Inner Monster?
13:56:53 ER: Would it die in the collapsing labrynth, or is the only real way it goes away by getting killed?
14:07:04 syv: Witches need to be attacked to be killed. Simply destroying the labyrinth will basically never be enough.
14:07:34 syv: I think I broke that rule in the testgame, but it was because things happened differently from how I expected and I didn't want ten turns of cautious poking.
14:07:44 syv: ...And then Nik fucked things up, IIRC.
14:09:48 syv: The 6 accuracy is so that it's still really easy to hit even with negative CQB score. The wanton is supposed to be something that's just awesome in CQC no matter your stats.
14:10:07 syv: It's also supposed to be heavy, not light, which balances it against the SMGs. In theory.
14:32:23 Piecewise: you saw the file I sent you right?
14:58:32 syv: I opened it up but haven't really looked at it, other stuff has taken priority and you said it wasn't urgent.
15:17:48 syv: The inner monster is an expression of the girl who created her, like a particularly strong familiar. The labyrinth is an expression of the witch who created it, like a Refuge.
15:18:29 syv: They generally won't have too many interactions that affect each other, unless something weird is happening.
15:18:39 syv has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]

16:11:05 ER: is it a horrible idea to do an ISG where I draw the images in physical media and then scan them?
16:30:20 syv: A bit odd but if you have a good scanner I don't think it'd be a big issue.
16:30:38 syv: Drawing's usually gonna take way more time anyway.
16:31:52 ER: writing is easier for me, but I do enjoy just going at it with a pen or pencil
16:32:25 ER: maybe actually posting it in a story format would make me self concious about the fact it's not actually good though :V
16:40:56 Devastator: sorry
syv, went to sleep.
16:43:40 ER: how many SGs has B12 had about beginning necromancers
16:43:47 ER: I feel like there have been a few
16:44:38 Devastator: at least two illustrated ones.
16:47:22 Devastator: well, I'm getting nothing. Rest of the internet is ok.
16:49:25 Devastator: apparently most of the people arrested in Minnesota weren't from there.
16:54:12 Devastator: Ugh, if reported properly that would be the thing that would make sure things wind down quickly.
16:58:19 Devastator: At least it's checkable.
17:09:03 Devastator: forums still down for me.
17:13:04 Devastator: No idea. Might be a DNS issue or something.
17:36:29 Devastator: That said, if it isn't working.. I won't be able to do k-com.
17:36:36 Devastator: maybe we should play chefgame 2?
17:43:35 syv: I think we agreed to play tomorrow, when I have an internet connection?
17:43:51 syv: I didn't buy it yet but it probably takes like 40 seconds to DL at work...
17:44:12 syv: And by tomorrow I guess I mean late today, for you.
17:44:36 ER: so close to being able to update vijiriwek D:
17:47:00 Devastator: Sounds good. I'll get downloading it in a couple hours.
17:48:17 ER: I like how I can design an enemy who is powerful, maybe even more so than the players, but it doesn't matter because being shot in the head kills people.
18:11:37 syv: This dumb pancake recipe gives cook time but not temperature.
18:26:44 syv:
ER, yes, the text does imply that it's a woman holding the rifle, but it's a bit unclear. You have to connect that the person with the rifle is the fourth person, therefore also the last person, who stops and is presumably the woman speaking.
18:26:58 syv: In my case you also have to notice that the word "woman" is not "person".
19:06:34 Devastator: oh, that's why Psionic Blast does so much damage.
19:06:42 Devastator: you get no defense unless you have immunity to illusions.
19:22:46 Piecewise: rocket launch is now
19:31:22 syv: Strange. I can stream this.
19:36:55 Devastator: yeah, looks like no trouble.

19:37:14 Devastator: Bob and Doug Mackenzie.
19:37:23 Piecewise: I get that reference
19:37:45 Devastator: also forums seem down for me.
19:38:06 Piecewise: Caesar was murdered so they shut down the forum

19:40:34 Piecewise: the house is an anime girl?
19:42:30 syv: The sad thing is I've seen all four possible cominations of those two things with vore. I am not comforted.
19:42:49 syv: ...I know that name from somewhere.
19:43:02 ER: I link his youtube stuff sometimes
19:43:18 ER: did you play Sacrifights? he made that
19:44:45 syv: I am disappointed by this stream. Back to trying to write.
19:45:31 ER: what were you expecting,
sy? :P
19:45:53 syv: Nothing in particular, really.
19:46:16 syv: Just not a fan of pixel art I guess? Or maybe the incomplete nature of what he was doing.
19:46:56 ER: it's not exactly constant action
19:47:04 ER: but it's nice to see something come together
19:48:16 syv: More a fan of speedpaints, myself.
19:48:28 syv: Drawfee's great when I want to see that kinda thing.
19:52:55 Piecewise: Pixel art can be great
19:53:08 Piecewise: the issue is that people often use it to be lazy
20:22:23 syv: What's a good unit-independant noun that describes something around 30 feet long?
20:23:29 syv: I'm serious, I try to use descriptions for sizes that make sense to both Americans and the rest of the world.
20:23:31 ER: hmm, Gargantuan is only 20ft or larger
20:23:37 syv: But my brain is syrup right now.
20:23:46 syv: Something that would be known to non-nerds.
20:23:53 syv: Though that's probably unnecessary, here.
20:25:05 syv: The length of an abrams works, but that's a jarring comparison, and I doubt many people have an intuitive understanding of that unit.
20:26:06 ER: I don't have an understanding of units in general
20:26:10 syv: Why do big things have to vary so much in size? "20 to 45 feet" come on.
20:26:45 syv: Maybe I should just say fuck it and roll a die to decide which system I'll use.
20:26:47 Devastator: metal slug was a huge amount of effort into pixel art.
20:26:55 syv: That way everyone gets to be equally confused.
20:27:19 syv: Isn't barb verse coin flips?
20:27:27 syv: I don't have any coins, but I have tons of dice.
20:27:52 Devastator: yes. It's success without penalty or success with penalty.
20:28:08 Devastator: only failures will be involving magic bullshit.
20:28:22 Devastator: I wanted the system to represent the barbarian point of view.
20:28:30 syv: Do you know of any consistently ten meter common things,
Dev?
20:30:30 Devastator: smaller locomotives?
20:30:58 syv: "0.83x length of a pole which which I wouldn't touch mr grinch"
20:31:05 Devastator: width of a tennis court.
20:31:15 syv: Oh, two car lengths is good.
20:32:35 Devastator: what's ten meters long?
20:33:05 syv: Is Bay12 still dead for you?
20:33:13 Devastator: Yeah. Looks like a DNS issue.
20:33:20 Devastator: it'll be back eventually, but could be a day.
