01:37:49 Devastator: Hey, the NHL will hold the playoffs.
01:38:02 Devastator: cancelled the remaining regular season games officially, but they will hold the playoffs.
01:38:44 Devastator: no Vancouver on the list of possible hosts.
01:40:34 Devastator: looks like they're going for putting people in 14 day lockdown before doing any group practices, and then starting games later.
01:40:43 Devastator: should be safe enough.
01:41:51 Devastator: and yay, vancouver is indeed on the list.
02:25:16 Devastator: Hey,
ER, would you mind asking
PW a question for me?
02:25:48 Devastator: could I do 'reverse-disease' to make someone healthy, or give someone a syndrome with positive benefits?
02:27:01 Devastator: but that might be a word you can't reverse.
02:27:20 ER: I mean, you could cure diseases with it
02:27:33 ER: just like I could negate toxins
02:28:00 Devastator: Yeah, I'm sure about that. Wondering if I could use it as temporary fast healing or such.
02:28:33 ER: that doesn't really have anything to do with disease, opposite or otherwise
02:28:58 Devastator: well, there are flesh-eating diseases.
02:29:31 Devastator: or like infect you with bacteria that make you feel amazing for like a week before they die.
02:31:19 Devastator: need to pay mana while the effect lasts, naturally.
02:33:24 Devastator: or permanent mutualistic things that give some other benefit, and last as long as the mana does, or risk mutations.
02:35:23 ER: if the stuff could work as a mundane thing you could just summon it with Will and infect yourself with it
02:36:06 Devastator: I'd probably want to put another word into it, like Speed for more efficient permanent drugs or something.

02:38:55 Piecewise: I hear there are questions
02:39:16 Devastator: just contemplating the possibilities of 'disease'
02:39:29 Devastator: and if it can be like reverse-diseased.
02:39:46 Piecewise: you can use disease to cure disease
02:40:02 Piecewise: just shove smallpox in there till all the other stuff falls out~
02:40:05 Devastator: could I like use it and 'speed chemical' to like infect myself with no-side-effect amphetamines forever?
02:40:08 Piecewise: but seriously yes, you can
02:40:33 Devastator: or as long as the mana/mutation lasts.
02:41:35 Devastator: well, if that'd be better than just using 'speed' directly, then it'd be a really good thing.
02:45:31 Devastator: ok, probably take that one over Ape, then.
02:47:34 Piecewise: Magical girl asks "What if I just did meth forever?"
02:47:43 Devastator: and it didn't make my teeth fall out?
02:47:55 Piecewise: Grow more teeth if anything
02:48:06 ER: how did you THINK mobility 3 worked?
02:48:39 ER: don't do drugs, kids. unless they're magic drugs. that's fine.
02:48:48 Devastator: I dunno, Alida did eat that cake.
02:49:00 Devastator: and it was caketastic.
02:55:30 Devastator: got any good methhead stories,
Piecewise?
02:58:11 Piecewise: Well, one time while I was driving I stopped at a stop sign and a man came out, flopped his nuts on my hood and started screaming
03:01:25 Devastator: sounds like a good time.
03:01:29 Piecewise: This is near the swap meet where we just had a gun fight
03:02:20 Piecewise: Honked. He honked back and then shuffled away
03:02:42 Piecewise: Las vegas can be a weird place
03:04:23 Devastator: yeah, looks that way.
03:34:33 Devastator: wait, there's another meaning of the term goose.
03:34:39 Devastator: no wonder meth-man honked back.
03:36:57 ER: curse: your genitals are replaced by a live waterfowl grafted to your body
03:40:36 Devastator: Saeko could do that to someone.
03:54:11 Devastator: well, it'd be a prank.

06:04:15 Devastator: I'm pro-flamethrower.
06:04:34 ER: I was sort of looking forwards to a "blow everything up" strat, but just killing everyone works too. :)

06:05:25 MidJag: I'm trying to figure out if I have time to join.

07:30:49 ER: It looks like adding 2 mony to the fund won't help buy the expensive medkit, because a madlad apparently decided to go in with only a machete and give 4/6 his mony to the fund
07:31:06 Devastator: presumably 'I'll take the gun from the first guy I kill.'
07:32:14 ER: I guess? His main stats seem to be stealth and medical
07:32:47 ER: he's tied for highest med yet doesn't spend his Mony on just buying a medkit
07:36:06 syv: Well if the money isn't needed for a medkit, I'll take the smoke.
07:36:57 syv: 420° noscope triple collateral
07:37:27 Devastator: M-M-M-Monster Kill.
07:49:08 Devastator: america, dakka nation.
07:50:54 syv: The original idea was dakka, and generally balanced stats, with flaws of higher average weight and cost.
07:52:19 ER: aka, in this context they're OP :P
07:52:40 syv: Guerilla is actually the most OP, I think.
07:53:55 syv: But yeah, CQB is shit and Stealth probably doesn't get enough boon from stealth to be good. Though some of their stuff is OP just because it was balanced for "this is literally supposed to be the best thing, aside from its ridiculous cost and unreliability"
07:54:14 ER: I feel like I should start, but I guess you all still technically haven't figured out what to spend your mony on
07:54:28 Devastator: The three-shot anti-tank rifle with the bayonet is still the best thing ever.
07:54:48 syv: I think you should start, and allow last minute equipment purchases in the first round
07:56:28 syv: Oddly, the CQB AMR has equivalent shoot-on-the-move stats to the Occupy SR. It's one point less accurate than the SR, but has one point less move pen as well. Semiauto difficulty is damn near impossible, though.
07:56:53 Devastator: Makes perfect sense given the source.
07:59:50 syv: ...Guerrilla AMR is still better. Same move pen, more accurate. Singleshot but that doesn't matter since both oneshot anyone through any armor.
08:00:05 Devastator: no need for a multishot AMR.
08:02:43 syv: I like how, canonically, the CQB AMR is actually kinda sane. The Occupy faction fields armor heavy enough to withstand even rifle caliber rounds, and likes to use that for room clearing. So the opposite faction makes anti-materiel rifles which are cheap and small enough to handle within close quarters.
08:03:11 syv: Everyone else, they make AMRs to extend range. CQB, they make an AMR to be maximum kill.
08:11:56 Devastator: Mmm, you sure you want the 'repairable from lethal damage' thing,
ER?
08:11:59 Devastator: That's gonna be costly.
08:12:37 syv: That sounds pretty good, actually.
08:12:46 syv: It fixes the whole eggs in one basket problem.
08:13:23 Devastator: Yeah but it wouldn't be cheap. Or quick.
08:13:34 syv: It's fine to put all your eggs in one basket if the basket and eggs regenerate from annihilation.
08:14:01 syv: Well, I guess if the GM is saying "No, this is bad idea!" then it's a bad idea. :P
08:14:24 Devastator: I mostly want to see them fielded one day. With that, well, they probably won't make it out.
08:14:49 syv: Will the mininuke rifles ever make it out?
08:20:26 Devastator: they'd be much easier if he made like mininuke tank cannons.
08:26:04 syv: How expensive would it be to modify his infantry guns into aircraft guns?
08:26:55 Devastator: I'd need specifics.
08:27:26 Devastator: oh, his infantry nuke guns?
08:27:32 Devastator: You'd need to modify your planes, not the guns.
08:28:17 Devastator: not very long for an infantry gun, it'd be a few months.
08:28:44 syv: Adding a slot for -/- equipment would take three months?
08:29:01 Devastator: Adding a slot for 'infantry sized' equipment, yes.
08:29:08 Devastator: although I'm not saying three without my notes open.
08:29:33 syv: I guess that's actually F/F, but still. Weakest slot in the game.
08:29:35 Devastator: It'd be even faster if you take off the missiles.
08:30:03 Devastator: well, sadly, nobody developed anything between F/F and Stirk's nuke cannons.
08:30:08 Devastator: which are a lot bigger than F/F.
08:33:12 Devastator: Really, how long would you expect?
08:38:53 syv: Maaaybe two with bad rolls, but that's getting to the point of inefficient expense wise.
08:41:13 Devastator: well, if you remove the missiles it might be one turn.
08:42:02 syv: Yeah. Which is a massively, ridiculously bad trade.
08:42:49 syv: It'd be reasonable for "maybe one turn" being to replace the missiles with an empty modular slot. That, that I could see being fair at 2 +/-1 turn based on luck.
08:43:11 syv: *Empty modular *large* slot
08:51:00 syv: Thinking about it, the best way to create a kaiju unit capable of fighting another kaiju toe-to-toe...
08:51:20 syv: Would be to have one org research it, while every other org cuts up kaiju bits and funnels them to the first org.
08:51:32 Devastator: that might have funding issues, though.
08:51:41 syv: Literally, want to make a Kajiu? Butcher other Kaiju and build a new one from the pieces.
08:52:03 syv: I'm not saying this is smart.
08:52:23 syv: I'm just saying that it's the easiest way to field a Kaiju, and I find that amusing.
08:53:35 Devastator: fairly sensible, really.
08:58:48 Devastator: I do want to see those jaegers.
09:21:10 ER: turn 1 seems conceptually hard
09:21:36 ER: I *have* prepared enough for this, right? And also not too much?
09:21:59 ER: bah, it just seems hard because I haven't tried it yet!
09:33:47 ER: barely anyone went for armor, hmm
09:34:09 ER: eh, fair enough. other stuff to spend on.
09:36:22 syv: I didn't go for armor because it's OP and boring.
10:02:53 syv: Huh, I didn't notice that
Paris went with +4 marks.
10:03:21 syv: With... the gun that needs marks least of all, due to this system's oddness.
10:04:48 syv: I don't see how that applies?
10:05:20 syv: That'd be a Parlous or Jagged maxim.
10:08:25 syv: He has a 99% chance to headshot someone at long range if he's moving.
10:09:00 syv: Derp. If he's *not* moving.
10:09:24 syv: ...Wait, no, ~100%, because out of cover no prec pen is applied.
10:10:01 syv: And only 38% chance of hitting someone in cover at short range, if he moves. 26% if it's long.
10:11:14 ER: well, he can always just jab people with his primative caveman weapon
10:13:31 syv: Ugh. Med, not short, short is CQB. -.-
10:14:33 syv: He has precisely zero chance of hitting anything in CQB with his rifle, if he moves.
10:15:21 syv: But is basically guaranteed to murder anything at any range if he sits still.

10:16:50 parisbre56: hence I went with highest odd of success I could get
10:17:49 parisbre56: also, I've got the anydice calculations in my character post, you can get all the odds from there
10:18:07 ER: don't forget, you can always roll mutant snake eyes~
10:18:08 parisbre56: except from the "fire while moving" odds because I have no reason to do that
10:18:27 syv: Ah, man, how did I miss that spoiler?
10:19:46 parisbre56:
ER: just imagine the spear is attached at the end of the rifle. or maybe the rifle turns into a spear
10:19:49 syv: The odd thing about this system is that Control is usually OP, especially on more accurate guns, because it gives more shots = more rolls to hit. That's not really true for the AMR because it has a really high semiauto DC and only gives one additional shot, but it's generally true.
10:19:52 parisbre56: transforming weapons ftw
10:20:17 ER: I've always felt a little bit like having something like 6 accuracy on something is a little silly, but it's easier to not rebalance everything myself.
10:20:46 syv: To be fair that gun has only a single shot at all in a system where reloading takes an entire turn.
10:21:26 syv: I did not know about some of that Anydice stuff you did.
10:21:33 syv: I bow to your mastery of roll mathing.
10:21:37 ER: yeah, but very good odds to hit in the hands of someone who is the worst possible at shooting
10:22:27 syv: Game balance, not realism.
10:22:41 ER: I feel like at some point missing your only shot is the price you pay for using a cheap, low-tech, specialist weapon :P
10:24:56 parisbre56 is now known as parisbre56[Away]
10:25:39 syv: Also, huh? Cheap and low tech? That one is supposed to be a cutting edge specialty weapon.
10:26:08 syv: Guerrilla isn't low tech, CQB is. And *all* the proprietaries are high tech.
