01:21:34 Devastator: and draggy be killin', it looks like.
01:21:58 Devastator: maybe we should kill, drag the guy upstairs, lock the door and barricade it, eat him, and escape through his window.
01:22:42 ER: I would be against killing him if he offered an excuse or something other than just money. :P
01:24:12 Devastator: in truth, I'd also be against killing him if he hadn't murdered a subordinate.
01:24:27 Devastator: guy fought non-lethally after all.
01:24:48 ER: ...I'm not sure if he actually killed her.
01:24:51 Devastator: I mean, there's likely to be someone showing up soon.
01:24:57 Devastator: sucked her brains out.
01:25:01 Devastator: that seems like killing.
01:25:14 ER: The brain seemed to be cleanly removed, and she was synthetic flesh or something
01:25:28 ER: which sounds more like kidnapping
01:27:09 Devastator: I think he just stole the tasty, tasty midichlorians from her.
01:27:21 Devastator: or something like that.
01:29:44 Devastator: I mean, she could have been some kinda synthetic replacement person with a brain injected inside her somehow, which the guy than stole.
01:35:41 Devastator: maybe we'll find out if we can loot this guy's apartment.
02:05:17 Devastator: any orders for zavi?
02:05:23 Devastator: any luck with work?
02:10:53 Devastator:
MJ friendslisted me on Steam.
02:12:43 Devastator: Huh, there's an actual Alleg game going on right now.
02:13:03 Devastator: Except I fucking can't because steam must update.
02:13:51 Devastator: this time, because they added a seperate item to my library that defaults with auto-updates on.
03:17:27 Devastator: ahh, alleg is still the best game ever made.
03:17:43 Devastator: Playing a game style I don't like with a faction I don't like, in a way I don't like.
03:17:48 Devastator: and it's still like nothing else.
04:47:46 Devastator: going to stream that new gaaaame.
04:50:54 Devastator: well, can't stream, it's fullscreen.
04:56:10 Devastator: Man, it's not happy not being fullscreen.
04:56:33 Devastator: also, disappointing because it's clearly a fixed-res game.
04:56:42 Devastator: so should look good if I didn't have to stream.
05:04:05 Piecewise: Is there a reason we're just standing here
05:06:12 Piecewise: You seem to have picked up a new weapon
05:06:41 Piecewise: Is it a tutorial or just the first level?
05:10:21 Piecewise: Trying to do this without shooting?
05:26:39 Piecewise: They call it a rogue lite, not a rogue like
05:27:49 Piecewise: Apparently the game takes you more seriously the better you do, and that remains between runs
05:28:59 Piecewise: honestly
dev if you hate it that much, don't play it
05:31:16 Piecewise: I mean, lots of action games have stuff you unlock
05:31:27 Piecewise: unlocking weapons or moves and such
05:32:09 Piecewise: So...ninja gaiden is shit?
05:33:58 Piecewise: Ninja gaiden unlocks different weapons throughout the game. Just because you don't have access to everything all at once doesn't mean it can't be fun before you have it all
05:45:11 Piecewise: Heat is heat. When you fire a gun quickly it will heat up
05:45:20 Piecewise: and can hurt you or jam if it heats up too much
06:02:29 Piecewise: That is a pretty big gun
06:05:12 Piecewise:
Dev, beset by upgrades
06:11:06 Piecewise:
Dev "I hate having to unlock things!"
06:11:22 Piecewise: Also
dev "I hate unlocking things!"
06:23:49 Piecewise: Whats interesting about the grenade launcher is that it doesn't explode on contact, it has a minimum distance and if you hit it too early it just bounces off the enemy for minor damage
06:37:55 Piecewise: Ah, minigun has to spool up
06:44:51 Piecewise: Laser hunting rifle?
06:58:39 Piecewise: Yeah, most games like this have a progress reset button
06:58:51 Piecewise: or something like that
07:00:10 Devastator: Yeah, looks like a fun game.
07:00:19 Piecewise: Thanks for the stream
07:00:39 Devastator: just.. shouldn't have a game where the first tier of upgrades are like +30% to all classa bilities and massive survivability, heh.
07:00:51 Devastator: Do you know how long it is?
07:02:53 Devastator: Did a skyrim playthrough once.
07:03:13 Devastator: "do no action that earns experience, and use no dragon shouts."
07:03:22 Devastator: really made it apparent the overall weakness of gameplay.
07:03:45 Devastator: it did lead to weird discoveries like how the thieves ask you to steal something exactly once.
07:03:46 Piecewise:
Dev is playing life on Nuzlock
07:03:55 Devastator: the introductory mission.
07:04:21 Devastator: and how you have to go to bizarre lengths to do things because they put a difficulty 0 speech check in the way.
07:04:28 Devastator: ie, an unfailable one.
07:05:09 Piecewise: I'm surprised you could manage to do anything in that game without getting experience
07:05:17 Devastator: Well, the thing is..
07:05:34 Devastator: they removed quite a lot of skills, many of which were sensable decisions, that you can do practically anything without earning experience.
07:05:46 Devastator: and the game doesn't actually ask you to do very much at all.
07:05:59 Devastator: just a very long string of 'press e to continue.'
07:06:19 Devastator: you don't need to worry about not being fast enough to run from something, because every character is now, for instance.
07:06:31 Devastator: and health regenerates so you don't need to worry about earning money or making potions and such.
07:06:58 Devastator: there aren't very many situations where you can't just run past enemies.
07:07:14 Devastator: and there are only a small handful of enemies that are lethal to the player.
07:08:16 Devastator: Level scaling is there, and even if not as extreme as in Oblivion, it means the basic enemies are never more than lower-mid level enemies anywhere.. there's just a few hazardous bosses.
07:08:30 Devastator: Plus questing doesn't ask you to do anything.
07:10:06 Piecewise: I would have thought there would be sections that demanded you use a shout too
07:10:28 Devastator: There's a fair number of those.
07:10:33 Devastator: all of the 'press x to win' type.
07:11:02 Devastator: Some you can bypass, but it's incredibly infuriating to be able to get past so many things only to hit a stupid wall like that.
07:12:38 Devastator: I think it's a total of four checks like that in the game.
07:12:48 Devastator: two in conversation and two 'press x to win' ones.
07:13:13 Devastator: the one or two ones where you're supposed to do it in world are bypassable.. the mountain storm can be passed by either before or during the storm, no problem.
07:13:36 Devastator: yeah, there's a couple of times where you're supposed to use the fast movement to go through doors. Those are also beatable without it.
07:14:25 Piecewise: Via a series of banana peels I assume
07:14:40 Devastator: nah, one you run normally.. that's the one on the mountain side.
07:14:57 Devastator: the one in the cave is quite difficult. While poking around there I managed to break it somehow.
07:15:42 Devastator: lemme find some pics..
07:16:15 MidJag has joined #einsteinianroulette
07:18:17 Devastator: That one, for instance, is a bit strange.
07:18:21 Devastator: see if you can figure out what's wrong.
07:18:52 MidJag: I honestlly never really played skyrim, so I rally have no idea.
07:20:41 Devastator: well, the door there is locked, but I'm on the wrong side of it.
07:21:00 Devastator: it's supposed to lock you out unless you cast a spell, make a zero-difficulty speech check, or do a dragon shout.
07:21:07 Devastator: none of which I could do due to variant rules.
07:21:21 MidJag: How did you fail a zero degree speech check?
07:21:47 Devastator: I had to come up through the midden, up the university dungeon the wrong way, and out the top into the inside of the university.
07:22:21 Devastator: that also changed the spawn areas of the NPCs to the state they are in if you unlock it nomrally, which meant the gate guard was no longer there, and people would try to walk through the closed door, which would remain closed forever.
07:22:50 Devastator: fortunately I could fast-travel out, but it was still hilarious seeing people walk into a door forever.
07:23:42 Devastator: There were some fun moments.
07:23:55 Devastator: but about halfway through the game there were no longer any quests I could fuck up and make go sideways.
07:24:32 Devastator: Yeah, they started adding extra-thick invisible walls around stuff and only spawning quest items at the right quest times.
07:24:51 Devastator: plus there were more examples of 'press x to win' stuff.
07:25:12 Devastator: I did have a few things left that would have been neat, but it would have just turned into a pretty ordinary playthrough.
07:25:21 Devastator: except for the lore I was writing.
07:25:47 Devastator: I mean, I found a technique that let me walk up vertical walls. It ended up coming in handy.. twice.
07:27:28 Devastator: That got me inside a later game area with, sadly, the lights turned off and the NPC not present, but to my surprise they did spawn some of the artifacts in there.
07:27:44 Devastator: Doubly unusually they were marked as owned, so taking them was stealing.
07:28:42 Devastator: If I got to the point where the NPC was supposed to give you that, I don't know if I would have gotten a second hilarious 'give me that' moment when you already have something a NPC is about to give you, or if he'd have given me a second copy.
07:30:11 Devastator: Of course, the best part about sneaking in there was leaving out the top exit to the mountaintop temple bit, which was about 200 feet inside a giant ejection zone, which made my character go flying across the mountain.
07:31:48 Devastator: I dunno. There were interesting bits, but they got fewer as time went on.
07:32:10 Devastator: game was just too heavily railroaded for really fun stuff. Morrowind it wasn't.
07:33:24 Devastator: I think if I'd found one more big skip, I might have seen it through.
07:34:15 Devastator: or if I'd managed one or two more bizarre tricks, maybe.
07:34:44 Devastator: I was deeply disappointed when I couldn't manage one trick I was hoping to do.
07:35:15 Devastator: At one point the assassin's guild kidnaps you while you sleep in a bed, assuming you've gotten a notice from them.
07:35:24 Devastator: that teleports you halfway across the map to a shed.
07:35:51 Devastator: I wanted to have that happen through sleeping in a bed inside a dreamworld during one of the daedra quests.
07:36:18 Devastator: ie, they would have kidnapped cat-dude from the inside of the mind of a madman, while being sent there on a quest from the god of madness.
07:36:35 MidJag: That would have been great
07:36:52 Devastator: but, of course, that bed is owned, you can't sleep in an owned bed, and that NPC, like 99% of all of them, was immortal.
07:37:12 Devastator: Yeah, writing that dialogue would have been amaaazing.
07:37:32 Devastator: "I'm not asking who you are, I'm asking HOW you did that."
07:37:57 Devastator: plus I might have been allowed to smuggle the quest version of that artifact into reality!
07:38:09 MidJag: Aww, that does suck. That would have been exceptionally entertaining.
07:38:29 Devastator: Yeah, but you know, heaven forbid you miss one quest.
07:38:45 Devastator: fuck that game and pandering to completionists. Too stiff to let you do amazing shit like that.
07:39:36 Devastator: and I was hauling that bed sleep across about forty updates before the payoff!
07:40:41 Devastator: Anyway, I ended up skipping that quest and continuing my setup in that town to earning a 'get out of jail free' card and using it to break up the execution, which the game tries very hard to make happen the moment you first enter the town.
07:40:49 Devastator: ie, doing something that should also be impossible.
07:41:14 Devastator: but it wasn't as amazing as getting kidnapped out of someone's mind.
07:41:46 Devastator: basically, each time I entered that town, I had to do it in a strange way to avoid the execution. I also then had to leave the town in a similarly strange way.
07:42:08 Devastator: I had just enough ways to do it to cover all the necessary quests.. plus that one, if I could get kidnapped out of town.
07:42:43 Devastator: You get one chance if you just run in the right direction, but only one as the execution has a global timer.
07:42:56 Devastator: You get one if you get arrested and teleported to the jail.
07:43:18 Devastator: You get one if you bypass it with one of the war quests, which takes priority.
07:45:08 Devastator: leaving I only had two, but that was enough, if I couldn't get kidnapped out of someone's mind.
07:45:49 Devastator: getting arrested was also good because I got to have my stolen property removed, which consisted of one set of imperial agent's armour.
07:46:00 Devastator: who were retconned into much less interesting dragonslayers.
07:46:15 Devastator: ie, one set of imperial agent's armour, and the stolen Dragonbane.
07:48:43 Devastator: "Okay, hand over all stolen goods."
08:00:29 Devastator: so how are you doing?
08:05:29 MidJag: not bad. working through the buracary of the MCAT's that's about it.

16:47:06 Devastator: I didn't know about those.
16:47:46 Devastator: scales should help, though.
16:50:16 Devastator: looks like it was a near thing.
16:51:05 Devastator: and welp, ate someone else.
16:53:31 parisbre56: Well, you rolled badly, but your choices were good, so I decided I should remove some time as a penalty instead of making him win
17:04:01 Devastator: so do we get to loot the place?
17:04:40 Devastator: I don't think we can take much, but there a bottle or two might be good.
17:18:07 Devastator: also, draggy was already absurdly strong for his size. He's going to be ridiculous.
17:18:15 Devastator: I suppose that makes sense for dragon.

20:07:04 Piecewise: "I need cabal orders
ER."
20:09:01 Devastator: gotta hand Zavi some mana, too.
20:12:27 Devastator: I mean, there's murder coming, and likely explosions.
20:27:22 Piecewise: Just to let ya know, I'm doing some studying and stuff so I probably won't be around much till this evening
21:10:17 parisbre56: magia record is OK so far. maybe a bit overcrowded with characters due to its origins (though I guess it also makes in universe). I think it would benefit a bit from slower pacing to explore the characters a bit more. The fights and designs are good. The hook/overarching plot/mystery is also good but so far it feels a bit like an excuse for the MC
21:10:17 parisbre56: to go out and meet/fight/befriend other MGs
21:11:43 Devastator: so not as good as PMMM?
21:13:21 Piecewise: Might wanna check out the manga if there is one
paris. Often times rushed anime are just rushed because they are trying to fit 200 chapters into 20 episodes
21:14:31 parisbre56: maybe they'll all die/despair in the next episode~
21:15:29 Devastator: and we can all celebrate that. ;-p
21:25:21 Piecewise: Need to watch season 1 of no gun life
21:25:27 Piecewise: or at least look at it to see if its ok
21:25:46 Piecewise: season 2 of RE: zero is coming out soon too
21:27:34 parisbre56: I liked no guns life. it's a nice mix of detective/fights/humor/drama/transhumanism
21:27:45 parisbre56: if I had one complaint, it's that it's too short
21:33:35 Piecewise: well, season 2 this season so

22:50:18 ER: That has to be the best diplomacy scene ever though ;P
22:52:13 Devastator: "I seduce the machine-man."
22:52:40 ER: but I mean the bit after that :P
22:53:32 Devastator: haven't finished it yet.
22:59:46 Devastator: ahh, little kitten.
23:07:38 Devastator: god, fuck the angels sequence at the end.
23:08:10 ER: angels are adorable in their own murdery way
23:17:18 ER: hmm, I've seen this game before
23:17:45 ER: or I've played the free version that's just wave defense
23:19:50 ER: well, I didn't play it too long because there's too many meters and such for my little berserker brain
