01:30:50 Devastator wants to continue streaming planegame.
01:56:04 Devastator: Dunno if you'd care.
01:56:07 Devastator: it's a strategy game.
02:00:31 Devastator: eh, starting it up.
02:00:37 Devastator: twitch.tv/kofiman19
02:05:28 Piecewise: Fly planes into the tokyo towers
02:06:03 Piecewise: Catgirl, boneman, madlad eh?
02:11:06 Piecewise: So are these planes fueled by the suffering of little girls?
02:11:30 Piecewise: I mean, do you see the fuel?
02:11:35 Piecewise: Can you say for sure its not?
02:15:21 Piecewise: Name of the game "Make a shit load of money"
02:16:15 Piecewise: why is this airline not called "Lodes o Mone"?
02:17:42 Piecewise: So...can you pay iranians to shoot down your opponents?
02:21:09 Piecewise: How long till space plane?
02:26:16 Piecewise: So when does Trump Air come online?
02:26:33 Devastator: That's the one named after you.
02:27:01 Piecewise: But boneman isn't an utter failure~
02:29:57 Devastator: since I now have a hub here, they'll let me fly more planes.
02:30:04 Devastator: Also, that first jet is really shitty.
02:30:11 Devastator: eats all the gas and is super expensive.
02:33:37 Devastator: god, what a shitty plane.
02:33:51 Devastator: one slot is one flight, be it a 80 seat plane or a 140 seat plane.
02:33:55 Devastator: since I need more bums in seats..
02:39:32 Piecewise: Can you get these planes to multi-track drift?
02:39:47 Devastator: the slowest plane in the game.
02:39:58 Devastator: one of them can manage to do.. one round trip from Perth to Sydney a week.
02:42:20 Piecewise: Is it some sort of ground based plane?
02:42:25 Piecewise: Does it just taxi all the way there?
02:42:39 Devastator: it's also got an unshown minimum luxury value.
02:42:59 Devastator: which doesn't make much difference, initially.
02:43:04 Devastator: but it helps with competition.
02:43:16 Devastator: well, it doesn't help.
02:44:15 Piecewise: "This will be a good idea"
02:44:23 Piecewise: Its a terrible idea"
02:45:43 Piecewise: Your "It helps with competition. Well, it doesn't help"
02:45:54 Devastator: Luxury helps with competition.
02:46:00 Devastator: A minimum score doesn't help.
02:47:37 Devastator: Oh hell yeah, I was expecting to only be able to get 11.
02:48:01 Devastator: but Hong Kong is the starting headquarters for this company, so it's some higher ratio.
03:00:43 Devastator: well, time to jack up those fares;.
03:01:41 Piecewise: Imma stop watching because I'm gonna kick some torrents on and it would turn this into a slide show
03:01:51 Devastator: thanks for watching.
03:03:04 Devastator: It's surprisingly deep.
03:03:10 Devastator: sadly, no fielding giant birds.
03:04:37 Piecewise: where is my birb bame 2.ooo
03:06:22 Devastator: There's no reason I couldn't try that in Cabal.
03:20:34 Devastator: what sort of costs would I be looking at?
03:21:01 Piecewise: depends on how they work
03:21:39 Devastator: probably have a building with a clerk in it per city.
03:25:58 Piecewise: Cost of making the building and hiring some guy to stand there
03:26:14 Devastator: and probably aim to maintain two animals a building.
03:26:17 Devastator: maybe more if they're dumb.
03:30:25 Devastator: I suppose I'd want them to be able to do packages too, like 15kg loads.
03:36:06 Piecewise: judging from my calculations
03:36:25 Devastator: sounds quite doable.
03:36:33 Devastator: Can I summon a sufficiently capable animal with one d8 spell?
03:36:59 Piecewise: of flying or vending
03:38:18 Piecewise: a creature able to carry people, for d8?
03:38:55 Devastator: and strong enough to not get murdered every trip.
03:41:44 Devastator: gear would probably be a perverse incentive.
03:41:54 Devastator: it'd be more valuable to attack the carriers.
03:42:22 IronyOwl has joined #einsteinianroulette
03:42:42 Devastator: been playing it some more. Can turn the stream back on.
03:43:42 IronyOwl: Hey
Dev, I'd like that
03:44:01 Piecewise: I AM NOT A CLOWN! I AM A MAAAAANNNNN
03:44:43 IronyOwl: I'm in, and I was worried before I saw our SE totals
03:44:59 Devastator: That's a big red quarterly bar.
03:45:04 Devastator: I'm hemmoraging money somewhere.
03:45:58 IronyOwl: So what have you been up to,
pw?
03:49:30 Devastator: IO, you see those fuel and service ratings on those jets?
03:49:36 Devastator: The first jets are like that.
03:49:55 Piecewise: Today I built a model
03:50:22 IronyOwl: How many creepy robots does you house have now
pw? Leering at you?
03:50:31 Devastator: Ahh, there's the money.
03:50:45 IronyOwl: Who'd have thought it could be such a hole
03:51:18 Piecewise: I have made over 100 models
03:51:41 Devastator: Tokyo Disneyland, a hole?
03:52:00 Piecewise: I think tokyo disney is actually preforming well
03:52:00 IronyOwl: that appears to be a purple mech with a mowhawk and gigantic axe-mace
03:52:20 Piecewise: Yes. Its from the "LBX" line
03:52:25 Devastator: Amusement options generally don't make much money.
03:52:30 Piecewise: some nice cartoony designs
03:52:36 Devastator: they boost the tourism rating of the city it's in.
03:52:45 Devastator: they can make money, and often do, but it's pretty random.
03:53:27 Devastator: the hotels are more steady business and give you a more direct boost.
03:53:49 Piecewise: NExt of that line I have on order is this guy
03:54:33 IronyOwl: I feel like these have a style I can't quite place
03:54:45 IronyOwl: Almost... hrm... Power Rangers Feudal Armor or something?
03:57:32 Piecewise: Though they do actually have power rangers model kit stuff
04:01:54 Piecewise: In case you wanna build this
04:01:56 Devastator: been a while since I've seen that flag.
04:02:01 Piecewise: its a robot, and a house
04:04:10 Devastator: there's not really supposed to be 7.2 million people in Athens.
04:04:32 IronyOwl: I mean... there aren't supposed to be or there aren't?
04:04:42 Devastator: there are, but it isn't right.
04:06:46 Devastator: second run of jets are much better.
04:06:56 IronyOwl: What's the point at jets atm? Higher capacity makes up for the increased costs?
04:07:05 Devastator: higher capacity, greater speed.
04:07:16 Devastator: none of them have rock bottom luxury like the MD-6 either.
04:07:23 Devastator: they're mostly one notch better.
04:07:39 Devastator: one notch below the Vicount, same as the L-1100s
04:07:49 Devastator: same as the super constellation.
04:08:49 Devastator: Lockheed comes out with the 1101, the greatest failed airliner in the world. It's stats in game are pretty accurate to reality, it's basically like those jets but much better fuel efficiency and cheaper maintenence.
04:09:24 Devastator: came out too late. Boeing and Douglas cornered the market first.
04:09:39 Devastator: Also, fuel prices weren't as important then.
04:11:24 Devastator: Boeing comes out with a much better small jet in about two years.
04:11:32 Devastator: just doing it now for the hell of it.
04:11:37 IronyOwl: That's still like eight turns though, right?
04:11:59 Devastator: but I could then use the cash to buy large Boeings.
04:22:00 IronyOwl: Only 0.8M in Dallas? Crazy
04:22:04 Devastator: Checking what city should be my north american hub.
04:22:17 Devastator: looks like Chicago.
04:22:21 Devastator: also, no air conditioning.
04:23:51 Devastator: Smoking allowed, naturally.
04:25:13 Devastator: I actually have an excuse to fly behind the iron curtain.
04:25:19 Devastator: because of those havana slots.
04:25:38 Devastator: Connecting flights are important, too!
04:26:54 Devastator: in the real world, they'd have to put a guy on a boat or a sub, or like 12 hours in a heavy bomber to get there.
04:27:26 Devastator: and now you can fly there through
Paris.
04:27:47 Devastator: I have no idea how the game is going to handle this situation.
04:29:41 IronyOwl: How are you making less money than that shit skelly?
04:30:23 Devastator: He has the entire north american market.
04:30:49 IronyOwl: Oh, I guess that'd do it
04:33:51 Devastator: trans-iron curtain flights usually do no business at all.
04:35:28 Piecewise: GAOGAIGAR is great...maybe not as good as this
04:35:41 Piecewise: HA GOTCHA THATS ALSO GAOGAIGAR
04:36:32 Devastator: the massive losses was a huge spike in expenses.
04:37:25 Devastator: I'll sell that amusement park as soon as the DC-8s are available.
04:37:43 Piecewise: turn it into an airship
04:37:53 IronyOwl: That's the correct approach
04:38:16 IronyOwl: On that note, why haven't you superglued several planes together yet? it's the ultimate strategy!
04:39:29 Piecewise: You've activated my trap plane!
04:45:20 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
04:47:59 Devastator: "Yes I want to have 142 million I can spend on really good planes."
05:03:11 Devastator: This is where the others are making money, btw.
05:03:49 IronyOwl: Is it better to try to compete or find your own markets, generally?
05:04:02 Devastator: but if I'm filling them what, 40%?
05:04:20 Devastator: I just need to add some more links in europe and in NA and I'll have the markets.
05:17:46 IronyOwl: How's the AI at properly picking out planes and routes and such?
05:17:57 Devastator: It's not perfect, but the AI knows how to play the game.
05:18:04 Devastator: I don't think I'm going to get a win here.
05:18:17 Devastator: in truth, I think I've had enough for today of this.
05:18:24 IronyOwl: Probably not, if you're getting outdone in your home region by that Catgirl scrub
05:21:39 Devastator: These meetings are basically access to the AI for players.
05:21:56 Devastator: THAT's an idea, if there's a plane that can fly that.
05:22:12 IronyOwl: That's... what, literally 1/4th the planet across?
05:22:32 IronyOwl: "We should buy more DC6's"
05:22:35 IronyOwl: Fire that man immediately
05:22:50 Devastator: No, it's an idea, the cheap short-ranged jets don't exist yet.
05:22:59 Devastator: That's another idea.
05:23:03 Devastator: nobody else is flying through
paris.
05:24:33 Devastator: well, in the real world that couldn't have happened, due to the soviets.
05:28:31 Devastator: after quitting it can put you on AI control and sim out the rest.
05:28:41 IronyOwl: Kinda neat but probably not fast enough to be useful
05:28:53 Devastator: I remember their pacific war sim on automatic.
05:29:18 Devastator: it took 90 minutes to simulate the attack on pearl harbour.
05:29:39 Devastator: But it is an interesting game. Tough opponent draws, though.
05:29:47 Devastator: New York and London are the two best starting cities.
05:30:12 Devastator: drawing those two and Beijing against a Hong Kong start is rough.
05:30:39 Devastator: Had another save where I started in Tokyo, against L.A, Bagdad, and one other.
05:30:50 Devastator: LA can't get out of NA as easily.
05:31:40 Devastator: Bagdad has lots of unfriendly nations and much less money.
05:33:12 Devastator: and nope, no whisperling update.
05:35:39 Devastator: hmm, ~100 gold to set up bird mail posts.
05:35:51 Devastator: and 1d8 spell per mailbird.
05:39:34 syv: Mail is cheap. And there's more of an expense than that, it's not something you just plop down and you're done.
05:40:57 Devastator: Mail is cheap in this age of mass transit and internal combustion engines.
05:41:16 Devastator: I'd bet it could be profitable.
05:41:32 Devastator: and would improve the local economy at the same time.
05:45:20 syv:
Piecewise, how many gold does it cost to send a letter from one city to another city that's a moderate distance away?
05:46:29 Piecewise: Depends on the speed and the cities. Trade is pretty common so sending letters with traders is a pretty established business and they'll do it quite cheaply. But it might take weeks or months to get to where you want depending on how far out of the way you are
05:47:32 syv: And how expensive is it to send a letter with a trader?
05:50:39 Devastator: mmm, sounds like it'd pay off but not be a massive profit centre, then.
05:56:34 syv: 1 gold is a single day's pay for a workman, and you probably would want to pay people well since they're handling potentially-valuable packages. Good to make the job valuable in itself, so they don't risk losing it. Though, even 2 gold a day would do that, and isn't *that* much, and I'm sure you could get people to pay more than that for fast letters.
05:58:09 Piecewise: To send a letter varies, but can be anything from a few coppers to a silver
05:58:23 Piecewise: of course, thats just "get there when you get there" mail
05:58:33 Piecewise: dedicated messengers are far more expensive
05:59:35 syv: That actually sounds pretty good, really. If 1 gold is a day's pay for a commoner, you'll probably have some people with high value mail that they're willing to pay a lot of gold for. Over an entire city, yeah, there'd be a lot of that. Though you'd need to establish trust and reliability and whatnot, once you're secure this doesn't sound like a bad income at all.
06:00:07 Devastator: Saeko does have a pretty good reputation.
06:06:12 Devastator: think trying some forest revival is still more appealing.
06:07:46 Piecewise: sell specially trained messenger hawks
06:07:47 syv: Money isn't really an urgent need right now. Money can be sought when it's actually useful.
06:08:04 syv: Dubs has a good point there.
06:08:39 syv: Just enchant up some birds, then sell *those* to established messenger places for a high price. Instant payoff, no real risk.
06:11:56 Devastator: Well, forest first.
06:12:00 Devastator: just gotta find a time to RP it.
06:12:19 syv: Hey,
Piecewise. Could Saeko use "bird" to enchant the Ferrous Memento into extending its mindreading/control effect to birds?
06:13:08 Piecewise: did I ever say it didn't work on animals already?
06:13:17 Devastator: Yeah, you said humans explicitly.
06:13:32 Devastator: and an ingredient was specifically a human skull.
06:15:04 Piecewise: then...maybe...but doing so will be a big roll and failure might break it
06:15:27 syv: "The skull can open, like the lid of a jar, and allow the blood from a human to be placed within. The Ferrous Memento is then aligned with that individual and grants its holder total control over the memories of that individual."
06:18:03 syv:
Piecewise, what's it like having d12+2 knowledge? IIRC Saeko's pumped so much magic into her appearance that she sparkles, so does Ekrov have any oddities about him from having a superhuman intellect?
06:18:38 syv: Or are his thinking patterns just weird/magical or something?
06:18:41 Devastator: I'm pretty sure sparkles are just from the +3 end.
RC sparkles from his +2, IIRC, just not as much.
06:19:01 Devastator: I think it's Will that does apperance.
06:19:43 Piecewise: You can basically just know things, even if its not reasonable you would know them, on a good roll
06:22:21 syv: Are there limits on that, like I can't just know roll "where is this city's core?", or is it more "If you beat a d20/d100 roll you can divine whatever information you like"?
06:22:56 syv: Hmm, I never had Ekrov try to punch out a sand dune,
06:23:59 Devastator: Don't see why you couldn't roll to try and discern the city core's location.
06:24:04 Devastator: you've been wandering about inside it for a while.
06:24:11 Devastator: you might be wrong, but guesses.
06:24:43 Piecewise: Basically it would be a very hard roll, but you could basically divine the location of the core
06:26:22 Piecewise: Going to bed, Any last questions?
06:27:12 Devastator: Could I make grow potions that basically induce pokemon style evolutions?
06:27:56 Piecewise: as in make them change forms and become "More" of what they are as opposed to just bigger?
06:29:04 Piecewise: might need to be creative or specific on the wording, but I see no reason why not
06:29:21 Piecewise: Alright, night various human and human like things
