08:34:43 syv: "It's the--I--I, gah, it's secret! Umm, just let me in!" Once he's let inside, he closes the door carefully, before setting down a sack with a large object inside, on top of a table. He looks at Saeko seriously, though his voice remains frantic "There's nobody around to listen, right? Nobody eavesdropping, or anybody that could hear, or anything?"

08:36:57 syv: "Okay. Okay, good. This is..." he takes a deep breath, calming down a little. "I finished my sculpture." Then he unceremoniously flips the sack off of it, revealing the clockwork-covered skull.

08:37:20 syv: "I call it the Ferrous Memento." he says, no small amount of pride audible.
08:37:43 syv: "It's... ergh. It has to do with memory, it's... complex..."

08:38:51 syv: "It's magic, of course. I just have to put blood inside. I put mine in already, to test it out. Whenever I put someone's blood in, I can see all their memories. And I make *new* memories. Or delete old ones. Or, or--so much, I've only experimented a little."
08:40:12 syv: "It's already useful, when I used it on myself I could remember stuff way back, from when I was a *baby*. And, and the gyrotourbillon? That clockwork balancing thing you gave me to melt awhile back? I could remember every aspect of it, perfectly. It was as good as my sketches. Better! It was amazing!"

08:43:25 syv: "Horrible things could be done with it. I... it's like the best notebook ever, to me. But, thinking about it, it could, it could *destroy* a person. On a level, way, way worse than anything. Or remake people, into slaves, or... ugh."

08:44:23 Devastator: "I met a guy a few months ago, before we met."
08:44:47 Devastator: "He'd been wandering around for a while, carrying a big crossbow, attacking people, didn't seem to have much reason."

08:45:38 Devastator: "It made him attack people, do terrible things. And when I got it out of him, he didn't really remember much from what he'd done, and he'd lost a lot of his life."

08:46:43 Devastator: "That could have made him remember his life properly. Know where he'd needed to go. And you could have helped him get over the things he wasn't responsable for."

08:55:36 syv: "As if I could lose it. This is... it's the most amazing thing I've ever made. Even before I realized how... destructive it could be, I wasn't gonna let it out of my sight."

08:59:30 syv: Ekrov nods. "You're an invoker, right? It's... a different way magic expresses itself in mages. Mine is more based on creation, I'm a sculptor. I know a little about the differences, like invoking is descended from the old ways of magic, and so you have to use the old, faded materials. Though I'm not an expert, and the books I've read about it contradict each other, a lot."

09:00:56 Devastator: "But for me, if you got talent for a kind of magic you just kinda know it, right? And then you have to go around to places and buy spells. Once you've got them, you can cast them as much as you like. Well, until you get tired."

09:01:45 Devastator: "That said, there were other kinds, too. There were people who carried around.. well, sort of bits of mana. And when they've done so for long enough, they'd suddenly learn spells."

09:07:20 Devastator: "I did see one once, and she could jump a hundred feet in the air, and fire magic blasts, and make shields, and it was pretty impressive. But how do you train someone like that? I heard they have no idea how their powers work, they just do."

09:09:14 Devastator: "It's amazing. I can't say I wasn't tempted myself."
09:09:25 Devastator: "Nobody really knows. If you kill them, they just come back. And the bodies aren't right."

09:18:46 Devastator: "There was also the leader of the group, a tanky guy with blue hair. I'm not quite sure how it works, but although he was mute, we always seemed to understand how he wanted us to go."

09:21:20 Devastator: "Anyway, I couldn't attack with anything, so if I wanted to travel, I mostly had to sit around and see who comes by, and pick a group to join up."

09:22:36 Devastator: "Anyway, we went off together, and I was looking forward to spending some months moving around, maybe a couple of years, exploring places, defeating monsters, and having fun, you know?"
09:23:28 Devastator: "But I found out that where I lived, well, we were kinda a hidden village, and, apparently our village smith was some kinda ancient blacksmith in hiding, and the normal stuff that was on sale was like amazing super gear."
09:23:59 Devastator: "Well, I wanted to look around. We were kinda in a small mountain valley, and you get tired looking at the same fifty people all the time, you know?"

09:24:46 Devastator: "So after I joined up, we travelled for like two weeks, went to one place, and then the leader came out with this neat flying rainbow magic carpet, and then we flew into this nasty evil-looking castle."

09:25:58 Devastator: "So.. there it was, my one big adventure, and it was over in two weeks, I'd gotten shipped back home, and there wasn't anything left to do."
09:26:47 Devastator: "Eventually, I decided I'd had it, snuck into the forest, grabbed this kinda sorta local giant ostrich creature, tamed it, and rode it out of there."
