00:00:56 ER: hmm
00:03:01 ER: the credits song for Bastion is fucking amazing but also I feel like it would have a bit less impact if you haven't played the game before. It merges two songs from earlier in the game which are each wonderful in their own right and are linked to emotional moments which also tie into the game's ending.
00:03:30 ER: so rather than link that I'll tell you to go play through Bastion and appriciate what it does with its music :V

00:07:46 Elastic_Ridicule is now known as ER
00:18:37 Devastator: Nah. I watched a playthrough of it and Bastion didn't seem much good.
00:19:28 ER: well then I guess you're just DUMB
00:21:04 Devastator: Like Undertale, but weaker.
00:21:58 ER: so you're blind AND deaf!
00:50:00 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
00:50:26 syv: I'm totally fine with calling Dev dumb because he has poor taste in videogames!
00:50:31 syv has left #einsteinianroulette
00:50:43 ER: k
02:02:04 Piecewise__: Bastion wasn't amazing gameplay wise but it was very nicely presented
02:02:11 Piecewise__: Undertale much the same, really
02:02:24 Piecewise__: Neither are ground breaking in gameplay but had good presentation and story
02:02:37 Piecewise__: THough undertale is now poisoned by its obsessive community
02:02:40 Piecewise__: and furries
02:03:03 ER: right, the game is ruined by people you have the option of not paying attention to. sure.
02:05:41 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
02:05:57 ER: hello syv
02:06:04 syv: hello... you.
02:06:22 ER: 'tis I
02:06:55 ER: I have created a... moderate segment of a game called Dissolution
02:07:14 syv: Oh?
02:07:38 ER: where you uh, try to murder the gods because they're destroying the world through negligence.
02:07:56 syv: So, DaS?
02:08:28 ER: heh, maybe. but more like shadow of the collosus in the god-murder
02:08:36 syv: WAAANT
02:09:00 syv: Dubs has a half-made colossus climb system somewhere, I might still have the link...
02:09:39 syv: Mmmnnope.
02:10:27 syv: Have this, though. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8yOnztOOptg
02:10:38 ER: dunno if I want a deticated system for the big climatic battles here anyways
02:10:55 syv: Aww
02:11:37 ER: that's 100% more bullet, per bullet.
02:13:02 syv: Not really.
02:13:11 syv: Half the bullet, twice.
02:13:25 ER: it's a portal 2 reference :P
02:14:05 syv: Amazed at how well it works. Inrange has a longer video about it, apparently the bullets were designed to separate, and actually don't disperse *that* much. Like 12 MOA.
02:14:09 syv: I know. :P
02:17:16 ER: "standing neat turret may result in accidental empathy suppression."
02:19:32 ER: though in portal 1 the turrets have blue muzzle flashes, same as the combine turrets in HL2 which seem to use combine pulse rifle technology, so why are they suddenly supposed to be using bullets, man
02:20:03 syv: Maybe they had a different kind of propellant which burned blue?
02:22:08 ER: I prefer to think that apature science stole pulse rifle tech from the combine. :P
02:25:17 syv: And then decided it was inferior to just penumatically launching whole cartridges.
02:25:32 syv: "Penumatically"? Pneumatically.
02:25:58 ER: it's not an air gun, they use little pistons
02:27:18 syv: Yeah. Like pneumatic pistons.
02:27:38 syv: What, do you think they're magnetic pistons...?
02:28:15 ER: looking at the video, they're spring powered
02:28:26 syv: ...Though actually they could be explosion-powered pistons, like the OTs 38
02:28:30 syv: Huh.
02:28:32 ER: and reloaded by a little gear pulling it back
02:28:37 syv: Now that just makes no sense at all.
02:28:50 ER: https://youtu.be/6i-nMWgBUp0?t=20
02:29:01 ER: I imagine that's why they did it that way :P
02:30:17 ER: stupid and inefficiant seems to be the apature way
02:32:48 syv: ...Why do the turrets still have a muzzle flash?
02:33:54 ER: I guess the cartidges go off when fired by the piston?
02:34:16 syv blinks
02:34:35 syv: I have no idea what to think of that.
02:34:58 ER: it's something I heard someone say about it one time
02:35:41 ER: why eject the casing when you could just shove it out the front of the barrel?
02:37:34 syv: Because... gun?
02:38:12 ER: just shunt everything out of the barrel really hard, best plan
02:41:44 syv: :(
02:42:00 syv: Today has been one continual thunderstorm after I woke up.
02:42:14 ER: sounds rad
02:42:21 syv: I wanted to work on Lucy's memories, or guns, but nooo, skyzaps are constant
02:45:26 syv: I am too nerdy to enjoy rad.
02:46:44 ER: I like it when it rains heavy and there's rumbles of thunder
02:47:19 syv: You can probably ignore it and curl up in a blanket.
02:47:25 syv: Thunderstorms are awesome for that.
02:47:34 syv: Less awesome when I have to go out in it and count flashes.
02:47:55 ER: yup
03:29:56 Devastator: heya.
03:30:52 Devastator: No list of guns for a pirate game?
03:32:29 syv: What?
03:32:43 Devastator: Just wondering if you'd like a distraction.
03:32:53 Devastator: could use a list of weapons for use by pirates or against pirates.
03:33:38 syv: That's MJ's field, if you want historic accuracy.
03:33:56 syv: If you want balance, then I'd need to see a system beforehand.
03:34:33 syv: I'm not really good with firearms from before WWII or so. And I'm best with modern stuff.
03:35:30 Devastator: oh, ok.
03:35:37 Devastator: it could be any period you want.
03:35:49 Devastator: I wasn't going to depend on historical pirates, outside of 'whatever setting seems cool.'
03:36:31 ER: I assumed modern pirates
03:37:12 syv: If it's anything-goes then I'm still going to need a system.
03:37:43 syv: If there's no functional difference between an AK-47 and a BAR, then most gun lists I would make off the cuff will be a bit... too much.
03:39:23 Devastator: I was more concerned with availability and theming.
03:39:43 Devastator: What would be readily available? What sorts of issues would there be? What stuff might come about once in a while?
03:40:35 Devastator: What would you like to use and why?
03:42:13 Piecewise__: ER, I didn't say it was ruined, just poisoned. As in it might be more difficult for people who haven't played it to get into it depending on what they see before hand
03:43:51 syv: What would be readily available when? If it's contemporary, AKs. AKs that are actually machine guns (RPKs), AKs that are actually sniper rifles (PSLs), AKs that are pretending to be submachine guns (AKSs), etc.
03:44:13 ER: cute lil
03:44:18 syv: Be back later.
03:44:19 syv has quit [Quit: ???]
03:46:23 Devastator: If I had to choose, I'd probably say mid-70s.
03:46:45 ER: near future with alien occupiers
03:47:41 Devastator: say the gas crisis lead to some minor wars and a general breakdown of international trade, so there are lots of impoverished people and more valuable cargos, not to mention various superpowers willing to fund people, and other people willing to pay ransoms or such.
04:02:38 ER: shit to steal, people to hurt
04:02:44 Devastator: Basically.
04:02:52 Devastator: plus it'll allow for a lot of variety.
04:21:11 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
04:21:39 Devastator: yo.
04:21:43 Devastator: need a repeat?
04:21:50 ER: heyayayaya
04:22:08 syv: yo.
04:22:24 syv: And oh jeez, world politics, I hate world politics.
04:22:46 Devastator: I didn't vote for a manchild.
04:22:48 Devastator: ;-p
04:23:22 syv: Neither did I!
04:23:49 syv: ...You're Canadian.
04:23:50 ER: I desire deep political lore in PS
04:23:55 Devastator: Yes.
04:24:10 Devastator: We've got an upcoming campaign too.
04:24:13 Devastator: Not like anyone will care.
04:25:32 syv: If you force me to put deep political lore in PS, I'll kill the game for real.
04:25:46 syv: Are your options decent?
04:26:11 Devastator: Could be better, but anyone would do, really.
04:27:37 Devastator: Nobody looks like a generational talent or anything.
04:28:00 Devastator: Probably decide depening on who'se running in this riding.
04:28:14 ER: tell us of the facinating political system of atlantis
04:28:52 Devastator: Well.. we have a mostly-unicameral legislature, composed of a collection of single-member plurality districts.
04:29:12 syv: It's a seven-party distributed autocracy, with FPTP voting.
04:29:13 ER: not you silly, who cares about canada~
04:29:14 Devastator: Leader of the largest set of those members more or less runs the country.
04:29:32 Devastator: (And yes, ps political lore would be weird.)
04:30:47 syv: The national flag is "Crayola", with the quotes. However, it's in comic sans font. Colors are unimportant.
04:31:12 ER: mhm
04:31:42 Devastator: That sounds like a terrible wish result there.
04:32:47 ER: one literal genie wish followed by a smartass without anything better to wish for making the memes real
04:46:43 syv: Game idea: two teams, let's say of six players, opposed, fairly tactical gameplay. Simplistic ("shoot that guy", "drop mine here"), small arena. Everytime someone dies, they go to the same coordinates on the next level of the arena, and take slight (permanent) penalties to stats if they were among the first six dead on the previous level.
04:46:53 syv: Each level of the arena has no physical connection to the previous or next, but is more cramped than the previous. All solid areas in the previous level remain solid in it. Every level also has neutral monsters which will attack any player, indiscriminately.
04:47:03 syv: If all living things left alive on a level are aligned to a single team, that team can see the next level's entire shape and all occupants. Otherwise, vision between levels is impossible. The goal is to reach the final level (in which all deaths are permanent), kill all monsters and enemies present on that level, and to unlock a macguffin vault on the level.
04:47:48 syv: Would it work? Nope!
04:48:16 syv: But, I like the concept of being killed by someone, then setting up an ambush for him on the next layer of Hell.
04:48:29 Devastator: mmm.
04:55:22 Devastator: No more hunter queen metal?
04:55:36 ER: is that what you think?
04:56:06 Devastator: I don't know what to think.
04:56:10 Devastator: Hence the question mark.
04:57:17 ER: nope
04:58:02 Devastator: Yay!
04:58:40 syv: Is that "nope, these
04:58:53 syv: there's more", or "nope, it's dead"?
05:09:27 syv: Y'all're both boring, I'mma go play a game.
05:09:33 Devastator: ok.
05:09:35 Devastator: Have fun.
05:09:41 ER: nooo
05:09:46 ER: I'm not boring!
05:09:46 Devastator: playing stuff anyway.
05:10:17 syv: Oh really, ER?
05:10:21 syv: How so?
05:10:34 ER: we uh
05:10:37 ER: talk?
05:10:59 ER: okay maybe dev is boring
05:11:20 syv: You are super ultra very terribly boring, Eggo Reader. And that is very boring indeed.
05:11:39 ER: well then what wouldn't be boring
05:11:55 syv: Playing a game!
05:12:05 syv: Right now I just opened up Spiderman.
05:12:18 Devastator: God, spiffing brit's latest video is utter trash. He's terrible at civ VI.
05:12:21 syv: Wiiith music!
05:12:24 Devastator: which isn't a terribly strong game, but still.
05:12:31 syv: Aren't all his videos trash?
05:12:53 ER: you find yourself in a jungle clearing, there's a cave mouth built up with stone bricks in the shape of a big skull
05:13:11 ER: you feel like if you wander off a tiger will attempt to eat you
05:13:26 Devastator: Some are pretty good, but it's staggaring how trash he is.
05:13:41 Devastator: Do we have any weapons?
05:14:03 ER: [6]
05:14:18 ER: no weapons, but you are a dabbling mage.
05:14:33 ER: you're PRETTY sure that you've figured out how to not explode.
05:14:34 syv: I use my 3DMG to launch high into the area off a tree, and examine our surroundings.
05:14:52 ER: wuzzat
05:15:20 Devastator: Toss a fireball into the cave to flush out any snakes, bears, other hostile creatures.
05:15:41 ER: [6] [5]
05:16:12 ER: you toss a fireball into the entrance, which causes it to explode in a shower of bricks.
05:16:19 Devastator: Victory!
05:16:29 Devastator: Stroll into the ashes and look for any surviving loot.
05:16:39 ER: well, there's bricks.
05:18:37 Devastator: Nothing else deeper in the cave?
05:18:44 ER: a gigantic muscular tiger with an eyepatch strolls into the clearing and glares at you with its single eye.
05:19:06 ER: You explodated the entrance, so you'd need a shovel or something to get in
05:19:30 Devastator: Fast-talk the pirate tiger into digging into the entrance for me.
05:19:44 ER: [2]
05:20:12 ER: the tiger decides that you make annoying sounds and tries to eat you
05:20:21 ER: [1]
05:20:31 ER: it trips on a tree root
05:21:22 Devastator: Good! Make with the lightning and zap it.
05:21:39 ER: [1] [1]
05:21:44 ER: mhm
05:22:06 ER: you are struck by lightning and incinerated
05:22:23 syv: borinf
05:22:35 ER: boron
05:22:43 Devastator: boom!
05:22:45 Devastator: ok, was good.
05:47:01 syv: ER, come play gaem with me
05:47:08 syv: I'll teach you to race!
05:47:10 ER: gaem?
05:47:14 syv: Gaem.
05:49:27 syv: ◕.◕
05:55:53 syv: :(
06:00:07 ER: swingy game is haaaard
06:00:54 syv: Yeah, I'd actually say it's way harder than Sekiro.
06:01:07 syv: But I can teach you how to play it easy!
06:01:11 ER: and racing doesn't have murder
06:02:15 syv: If you want I can teach murder instead.
06:02:33 ER: learning is also hard
06:02:35 syv: Racing is just more interesting to learn, and leads to easier murder. Also! Racing can include murder, easily.
06:03:20 syv: Learning isn't hard!
06:03:34 syv: Learning is so easy that you constantly do it even when actively trying not to.
06:09:33 Devastator remembers syv talking about recent politics.
06:10:46 syv: ?
06:11:13 ER: r e c e n t p o l i t i c s
06:11:29 Devastator: "Learning is Easy."
06:11:38 Devastator: "Recent Politics."
07:25:47 syv has quit [Quit: ???]
07:36:17 ER has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
15:28:33 Devastator: oh good, RC put in orders.
15:29:52 Devastator: and Pathos has Xan's dice for tech it seems.
15:40:36 Devastator: Playing a different roguelike.
17:05:00 Devastator: So.. not doing it this turn, but going to kill Oz's character in Mook should he fuck up more next turn.
17:09:02 Devastator: Although I will be terribly amused if he hits the ejection seat, and it ejects the pilot, as that's what ejection seats are for.
17:10:05 Devastator: He does have the statline to end up okay after that..
