00:36:20 Piecewise: Paris is ignoring this place
00:37:16 ER: you're just hard to be around for people with their sanity left~
00:38:31 Piecewise: Otherwise known as losers
01:12:54 Devastator: heya Piecewise.
01:13:58 Piecewise: hello
01:14:24 Piecewise: Watching Armor hunter Mellowlink
01:14:24 Devastator: hmm, background that would be good for romance shenanigans.
01:14:29 ER: oiya
01:14:30 Devastator: ..ok?
01:14:50 Piecewise: Its about a man who fights mechs on foot
01:14:54 Devastator: ..Looking at that image link from John Walker.
01:15:06 Devastator: That guy only played action games during the mid-90s.
01:15:16 Devastator: or later than that.
01:15:18 Piecewise: I'm not sure he ever played them
01:15:19 Devastator: 00s.
01:15:21 Devastator: Yeah.
01:15:27 Devastator: "A struggle to survive 30 seconds.'
01:15:32 Devastator: That's been action games since forever.
01:15:47 Piecewise: Because Devil may cry and ninja gaiden and shit existed for a long time
01:16:03 Devastator: Excluding the brief period when everything went to 3d.
01:16:18 ER: that basically describes Devil Daggers which was a favorite of pretty much everyone at the site he cofounded
01:16:36 Piecewise: he co-founded RPS?
01:16:41 ER: yeah
01:16:49 ER: and he just left it
01:17:17 Piecewise: for what?
01:17:26 ER: unsure
01:18:12 Devastator: Oh, got some links for ya, PW.
01:18:14 Devastator: http://loweringthebar.net/2019/03/alert-catnip-cocktail.html
01:25:42 Piecewise: Don't eat catfood either
01:25:51 Piecewise: its mostly heroin
01:26:48 Devastator: So that's why they spend 12 hours a day sleeping.
01:26:53 Devastator: and 12 hours a day completely tweaked out.
01:41:57 Piecewise: Hmmm
01:44:44 Piecewise: what should I make a dungeon out of....
01:44:47 Piecewise: Mountain top?
01:44:56 Piecewise: Catacomb?
01:45:18 Piecewise: ant nest?
01:45:22 ER: giant abandoned storage container in lunar orbit
01:45:31 Piecewise: Cool
01:45:51 ER: silent hill
01:47:04 Devastator: shopping mall.
01:47:20 Devastator: didn't you do that once, actualyl?
01:48:43 Piecewise: yep
01:50:27 Devastator: Well, there's hospital.
01:50:46 Piecewise: There hospital
01:50:48 Piecewise: There castle

01:51:38 Piecewise: Thats just my house
01:53:45 Devastator: Fortified compound.
01:54:09 Devastator: like some crazy's madness castle, except at some point it becomes topological madness.
01:55:04 ER: the problem with a fortified place as dungeon is that the most difficult part will inevitably be the very beginning :P
01:56:18 Devastator: Internal lines, fallback lines, etc.
01:56:33 Devastator: At some point the guy could no longer reach the outer parts to maintain the fortifications.
01:57:36 ER: hmm
01:57:46 ER: so I have a setup that I like but honestly got no idea what rules I want
01:58:20 ER: and "roll 1d6" seems inadequate.
01:59:40 Piecewise: I like ER's
01:59:51 Piecewise: It feels like a samurai jack set piece
02:00:05 Piecewise: And samurai jack is cool so
02:01:12 Devastator: hole in the ground?
02:01:25 Piecewise: Abandoned storage container in orbit
02:02:00 Piecewise: The Giant Robo ova is looking good
02:03:07 Devastator: "Potato substitute, 100 tons."
02:03:21 Piecewise: That is a very large potato
02:04:00 Devastator: It's what you have when you don't have potato.
02:04:09 Devastator: and dammit, no giant room in Dig.
02:06:10 Piecewise: 252.66 cubic feet of potato specifically
02:06:16 Devastator: Hmm.
02:06:19 Devastator: big potato.
02:06:22 Devastator: not that big room.
02:06:35 Piecewise: wait
02:06:42 Piecewise: is a ton 1000 or 2000lbs?
02:06:50 Devastator: 2000lbs.
02:07:37 Piecewise: so 505 cubic feet ish
02:07:52 Devastator: yeah.
02:07:58 Devastator: a bit less than eight feet on a side.
02:08:04 Devastator: potato closet.
02:08:08 Piecewise: wait no, thats for 10 tons
02:08:51 Devastator: That makes it 17 feet, 2 inches on a side.
02:08:55 Piecewise: 5055 cubic feet for 200,000lbs which is 100 tons
02:08:59 Piecewise: (I think)
02:09:29 Devastator: assuming spacefilling potato or spherical potatos?
02:09:52 Piecewise: space filling. 5055 solid cubic feet
02:10:17 Piecewise: https://www.aqua-calc.com/calculate/food-volume-to-weight
02:11:54 Devastator: mmm.
02:31:19 Devastator: Could have the dungeon be inside the giant robot.
02:32:12 ER: mm, apple slices with sharp cheddar
02:36:05 ER: "So that's a game based on a mod for a game based on a Warcraft 3 mod based on a StarCraft mod."
02:36:59 Devastator: League?
02:37:19 ER: dota auto chess
02:39:11 Devastator: oh.
02:39:15 Devastator: so is League..

08:13:51 syv: Systemised romance game would be simple enough to make. Only difficult part would be to make an obsessively detailed, weird, and nonsensical dating profile for a dude. Could prolly get Aigre to do that, if he's still around.
08:14:28 syv: Game starts with the "protagonist", an NPC who has no defining traits of any sort, utterly generic, and has that dating profile, but completely empty.
08:15:38 syv: All players make love interests for the protagonist, who are only interested in Captain Generic for some random stupid reason, with excessively detailed profiles that only explain their *own* traits. All their likes, of course, are just "protagonist".
08:17:32 syv: Every round, each player selects a generic action to take towards the protagonist. Off the top of my head, "date", which has a little bit of every bonus, "berate" which lowers relationship but forces the protag to add a couple of their chars' traits to their profile, "support", which raises relationship, and "stalk" which doesn't touch relationship but fills out of a bunch of random traits on the protag's profile.
08:18:17 syv: Maybe throw in a "makeover" or something so that PCs can change their own traits to match revealed likes. All this beig random, of course, so hilarious failure and hideous success are possible.
08:19:22 syv: Gsme ends when the protagonist's sheet is full filled out, and then the GM goes over and tallies how many liked traits each of the love interests has, ranks them, then ranks their relationships, and aberages the two or something to figure out who has the best score. That char wins.
08:22:21 syv: And yeah, throw in a side game where people get two stats. "Skill" and "support" or something. Every round, everyone rolls skill, whoever got the highest roll is that episo--err, round's hero, saving the day from the evil enemy mechs/monsters/witches/teachers/whatever the fuck, getting a big relationship boost or something. Support just acts as a static chance that the love interest did something to help protagonist, and gets a minor relationshi
08:22:28 syv: So there.
08:23:08 syv: If you want a non-parodic romance system from me, I'll direct you towards PS and the "I'll kill you off if you try and pursue romance" rule.
08:23:12 syv has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
08:36:59 Devastator: should add in a bidding system.
08:37:16 Devastator: to take control of the 'episode' and get extra powers for that one round.
08:38:52 Devastator: Also, as for PS, I could imagine creating a character that was in a relationship, and I could accept relationships if one was in the offering, but I won't make you shoehorn one in.
