06:13:42 syv: Managed to get virtually nothing of importance done over the last two days, slept terribly, have a bunch of stuff I *have* to do today, and I don't have any good ideas on what to do with Sophia, when I'd really like to have *something* substantial done before
ER wakes up. Or at least before morning comes and I have to be concerned with real life.
06:14:20 Devastator: Trouble introducing Sophia?
06:14:57 syv: I've known exactly how I want Sophia introduced for about a year and a half now.
06:15:31 syv: I like it too much to not do that, so I don't want to just say "Nah, she's in the game proper *right now*".
06:16:47 Devastator: so.. what do you need, then, if you know how to do it?
06:17:49 syv: Make the main game move along. :P
06:18:09 Devastator: so no ideas for memories?
06:18:16 syv: Which currently requires writing all Lucy's memories, which I meant to do this weekend.
06:18:22 syv: Eh? No, no, they're fully outlined.
06:18:42 Devastator: so her name was Lucy?

06:25:38 Devastator: I think I'll just shut up about the werewolf at this point. Irritating myself.

06:30:25 Devastator: So.. sophie will have awesome intro, presumably.
06:30:34 Devastator: Memories will be written when absurdly tired.
06:30:49 syv: Heh, just now read RGU's last post. "Oh! A reference to Roadside Picnic, awesome! ...Wait, I already made that exact reference in Aleksandra's PM introduction, he's just referencing my reference."
06:31:38 Devastator: What's roadside picnic?
06:32:08 syv: You haven't read Roadside Picnic?!
06:33:20 Devastator: looking at the wiki entry, I'm wondering how I haven't read it.
06:43:33 Devastator:
PW's read it, that for sure.
06:49:12 syv: ...Yeah. I said STALKER was what made me read the book, didn't I? No, it was Dubs, he listed Roadside Picnic as an influence on the "alien can opener" part of
ER, and THAT'S what made me read the book. STALKER was separate...

07:39:59 Devastator: worms are your interesting fact.
08:47:44 Devastator: Thinking about how to take out a tank with a magical girl.
08:48:02 Devastator: Probably be easier with manabolts than CC, if only because ERA could soften the blow from a CC strike, but not a manabolt.
08:53:28 Devastator: plus the whole thing about not having to get in melee range.
08:53:38 Devastator: Dodging probably would require max mobility.
08:56:30 syv: Sekiro's combat system, but you're dual wielding two weapons, both of which can attack and deflect indepentantly. Double deflects and double attacks carry extra boons if used correctly but can screw you over is misused. Multiple independent styles which can be applied to your weapons, affecting what the buttons do; full offense and full defense are options, along with a couple specialty styles. Many enemies might *require*
08:56:40 syv: This will never happen and that makes me sad.
08:57:23 syv: Combat arts would simply be the results of double attacks with specific style combinations.
08:58:01 ER: would a shield be one of the weapon options? :P
08:58:25 syv: No, you just get two katanas or something. But you get a defensive katana style.
08:59:05 ER: duel wielding two of the same weapon no matter what? gross~
08:59:38 syv: Maaaybe throw in some mageblade stuff, so you can unlock an enchant that effectively makes a katana work as a greatsword, which uses an effect like the ivory king greatsword from DaS 2.
09:03:43 syv: Five basic styles; mixed standard, basically Sekiro's default. Full offense, probably something more like Sabimaru, very fast rapid hits, with no less damage. Full defense, with attack being the default deflect, and deflect being full block (normal deflect should work like Kuro's charm, or at least have SOME chip damage). Stabby style, which is like standard attacks but a little slower, with the same dps but more ranhe. G
09:17:57 syv: Guns don't sync well with Sekiro's combat.
09:18:18 ER: guns sync well with anything
09:19:41 syv: Hum. Since I've got five styles there, and already was thinking mage blade, could have all five styles have a elementally boost version, which would take place of Sekiro's tools. China has a five-element system, and Sekiro is Eastern, so it'd make sense to use that...
09:20:59 syv: Chinese elements are wood->fire->earth->metal->water, looping. Aaand I know nothing of their symbolism, so that's all I can theorycraft. :\
09:22:26 syv: As a bonus, if you made the elemental lore thing core to the combat system, you could base enemy movesets off the same styles, and have their weaknesses be implied by which element they're using. Elemental rock paper scissors, except it's actually pointing out what they're bad at countering.
09:25:19 syv: So you'd still get the prosthetic counter system Sekiro has; axe beats shield, shuriken beats flying, poison beats women, firecrackers beat everyth--beasts. But instead of "press L1 to win", you'd still have to learn their moveset and how to counter it. With the limited elemental boosts just ming the counter strats trivial, so id you hate one style of enemy, you can just use your consumable silver bullets on them.
09:26:25 syv: I've now come up with a way to rewrite Sekiro's system into something I'd like while everyone else would probably just hate it.
09:27:15 syv: Obviously I need to systemize this into a PbP game.
09:28:59 syv: DAMN I ACTUALLY REALLY WANT TO DO THIS NOW.
09:29:25 syv: But I should be writing somethig for Sophia!
