04:06:30 Devastator: I'll do birdgame in a few more hours.
04:06:37 Devastator: Damn
PW and making me work.
04:07:19 Devastator: He's trying to jump through the tapestry, mario-64 style.
04:08:20 Devastator: Which would be impossible if the death god was around, but being absent would be possible.
04:08:33 Devastator: Also not activating it right, but that's just a penalty. Still can happen.
04:09:11 Devastator: Hell, I didn't even think of that.. it's supposed to be a telephone.
04:09:15 syv: "Jump into the tapestry" "You jump into the tapestry and bounce off the stone wall behind it. Your head hurts."
04:09:31 Devastator: Yup. That's failure.
04:10:27 Devastator: Eh, I'll roll for that now, should happen first.
04:10:52 syv: No
ER. Guess that's wise of him, I was gonna offer to finish the bossfight with Tor, and he'd probably find that a difficult offer to resist.
04:37:30 Devastator: So what's the plan instead?
04:37:49 syv: Sit here and stare at a laptop until words begin to appear.
04:39:28 Devastator: Could play something for you. It'll delay birbgame, but I'll probably be up a while tonight.
04:40:43 syv: I don't drink, and I'm also at work, so no booze regardless. I may be unprofessional enough to stream videogames here, but I'm definitely not intoxicating myself.
04:40:55 syv: And nah, no need for a stream.
04:41:15 Devastator: Ahh, forgot you were at work.
05:16:32 syv: I want a Dark Souls mod that works similarly to the randomizer, but adds lots more spawnpoints all over the place, and randomly decides which to use. Throw in a general difficulty level gradient, plus enemy type, so it'll balance hollow spawns by spawning like ten of the things, but won't drop five Gwyns on you if you get super unlucky.
05:27:10 syv: ...Building on that, something that'd be great is an item randomizer, except the item spawns are semi-balanced by area. No upgrade materials, all weapons come with a random upgrade level, with later areas having higher levels
05:27:23 syv: Same with armor. Other loot can prolly just be left alone though.
05:27:59 Devastator: "I want a Dark Souls total conversion, where I don't know anything about it, except that the mechanics and items are identical to the ones in Dark Souls.
05:28:36 Devastator: Do you want a new map?
05:28:41 syv: Well yeah but that's not gonna happen.
05:30:24 Devastator: lives out of town, has to travel in to find witches.
05:31:24 syv: Probably wouldn't get the wish in the first place.
05:33:35 Devastator: I can imagine some situations.
05:34:09 Devastator: Just thinking of having to run an hour before you can go on patrol.
05:35:18 Devastator: or bike for like eight minutes.
05:35:22 Devastator: that might be fun actually.
05:35:59 Devastator: MG who has to haul her bike around all the time.
05:36:29 Devastator: "Shut up, the ultra-light titanium frame is the only kind that doesn't melt in the air friction!"
05:39:04 syv: I think I put "bike" in the OP *specifically stating* that it was an acceptable totem, yet nobody has tried it.
05:39:34 syv: Get TM2+1, morph the front into a lance, pull some sanic jousting stunts.
05:39:48 Devastator: Or just use TM 3 to make my club a lance.
05:40:01 Devastator: or would TM 2 count for that?
05:40:11 Devastator: lots of fun with bikes.
05:40:31 syv: TM2 just gives cheap summons and minor changes, pretty sure.
05:40:31 Devastator: Nope, no bike in the thread.
05:40:53 Devastator: Yeah, 'to a low extent'
05:41:17 Devastator: 3 says "At extra cost, alter a single copy's traits significantly, deforming it into most any shape that at least resembles the original, and even change the physical properties."
05:41:21 syv: "Firearms, cats, and cars are all non-functional, but crossbows, shields, or bicycles are perfectly fine."
05:42:09 syv: I think I say "bicycle" rather than "bike" just to be absolutely sure nobody would think "motorcycle".
05:43:13 Devastator: would a motorcycle be ok with TM4 bike?
05:43:45 syv: I'd someone make guns out of ribbons, so I don't see why adding a motor to a bike would be a problem.
05:43:48 Devastator: And I'd probably make a lance by making a long club and using CC to compress metal around the end into a pointy bit.
05:44:11 syv: It might even be good enough to actually give you a real upgrade, since it's a totem.
05:44:49 syv: "Level 3: Mobility is impossibly good. Outrun most vehicles, jump on thin air, etc."
05:45:44 syv: If you're riding a motorcycle, your own mobility isn't really relevant. Most would have a higher top speed, but not much else.
05:45:44 Devastator: Level 3 with Motorbike... better?
05:46:01 Devastator: Ahh, so it would be like you're on a superbike, except faster.
05:46:52 syv: Yeah. A TM4 bike totem turned into a motorcycle would prolly be a better machine than anything humans are currently capable of constructing.
05:47:07 syv: Because totems are broadly "just better".
05:47:20 Devastator: I'll be fun if
Paris starts making us equipment.
05:48:39 Devastator: Does
Paris know the cost of the gauntlet MG?
05:49:51 syv: Also, her name is Sharon. Or was. Either way.
05:50:30 Devastator: Eh, shield into breastplate shouldn't be too too expensive.
05:50:42 Devastator: not free, but payable.
05:51:14 Devastator: shield into gauntlet probably a lot more.
05:51:56 syv: Yeah. More it has to deform, more it costs. At least both are protective, so they have something in common.
05:52:35 syv: Pistol -> rifle is cheaper than pistol -> armor, just as shield -> armor is cheaper than shield -> rifle.
05:53:23 Devastator: That's what I'd probably expect from
paris, anyway.
05:53:26 Devastator: bodyarmour for everyone.
05:53:46 syv: ...Is this, uh, a roundabout way of being bitter about
ER somehow?
05:54:04 syv: If so, don't worry, body armor isn't *that* good.
05:54:53 syv: Last labyrinth most it would have done would prolly have been reducing the damage Tooru took from the clay woman's smash.
05:55:26 syv: Plus some of the little bits of damage that didn't much affect anyone.
05:56:14 Devastator: Mighta kept Alida on her feet when she got blow'd up.
05:56:31 Devastator: That was like 150% of Painless 2's soak ability.
05:57:08 Devastator: And yeah, less damage to Tooru would have been noticeable.
05:59:10 Devastator: besides, it would be basically all upside.
05:59:17 Devastator: very little downside, other than the soul cost.
05:59:25 syv: Oh, no, no. Alida would have lost her legs regardless. Maybe she'd have kept her thighs and a knee if she'd been wearing, like, havel's set.
06:00:08 syv: More bleedout time, but she wouldn't have feet to be kept on.
06:01:00 Devastator: So no help from greaves, then.
06:01:45 Devastator: I guess size might be the better plan then.
06:03:09 syv: Yeaaah anything reasonable for you to wear is gonna be more damage mitigation than immunity or anything. Sharon used full plate, but it was because it brought "You're entirely destroyed" down to "You're dead but mostly intact".
06:03:27 Devastator: Mmm, saves a regen rank.
06:03:49 Devastator: Or go with plan Mech. ;-p
06:06:10 Devastator: I mean, you pilot those. I'm assuming 'stuff you pilot' would be able to do better.
06:06:36 syv: Mobility doesn't extend to them, if that's what you're asking.
06:06:55 syv: Totem quality and Totem Manipulation does, in both cases.
06:07:01 Devastator: I don't think I'd make the mobility character the mech pilot.
06:09:51 Devastator: Now what would be a good totem for that, outside of the generic 'Mech Core' Hmm..
06:10:24 syv: Yeah, that'd probably be the best.
06:11:03 syv: Literally just "Exactly what I want, but juuust small and simple enough that it's actually acceptable."
06:11:14 Devastator:
PW was linking pictures of that mecha-raptor model.
06:11:20 Devastator: Something like that?
06:11:37 Devastator: They make metal models.
06:11:59 Devastator: albeit most of them are like planes or cars or ships.
06:12:41 Devastator: "It's a model of the 250 foot long WW2 destroyer Gridley."
06:13:01 syv: It'd still be like Finale cost to actually turn it into a full sized mech. Though I miiight let an Innocent with store it in their L3 refuge.
06:13:03 Devastator: A little bit impractical.
06:13:21 Devastator: Yeah.. but that's a hell of a use for a Finale.
06:13:30 syv: Yeaaaah "250 foot long" is a bit outside the realm of "usable".
06:13:56 Devastator: Might be worth having, even at that cost.
06:14:15 Devastator: I mean a mech suit is like really useful.
06:15:14 syv: A mech *suit* would be different, and probably quite a bit cheaper. Only massive with the perfect totem, assuming similar armament and whatnot to the stereotypical mech.
06:15:45 Devastator: so depends on the franchise.
06:19:34 Devastator: Probably ok to have like a sword and a beam cannon?
06:19:38 Devastator: or a shield or such?
06:21:43 syv: I was thinking missiles and like a laser. Sword sure, magic energy shield would be straight back up to finale if an option at all.
06:22:29 Devastator: was thinking big metal shield.
06:23:41 syv: Ah. Sure, that'd be fine, if it's part of the design.
06:56:28 Devastator: Hmm.. could you animate toy robot and have it be like a independantly functional creature, just toy sized?
06:59:05 Devastator: could you put an Offspring in it and combine the two?
07:04:55 Devastator: "I fire a major-cost manabolt from my toy mech offspring."
07:17:02 syv: Mm? Oh, yeah, you could totally put an offspring in a toy mech and have it be piloted around, yeah. Even shoot manabolts from it, no problem. That's what Offspring is about.
07:19:09 syv: I've considered raising the remote power cost on Offspring to Moderate, but the power's 100% untested and I can always just nerf it if it ever ends up being OP.

08:25:57 Devastator: sent you a birdgame turn.
08:28:25 ER: I woke up a couple hours ago
08:29:12 ER: well, like two and a half, and I was half-awake for a long time
08:29:42 ER: I thought that it would be a little closer to morning when I turned the light on
08:30:20 ER: but I was hungry and needed a shower so this seemed like as good a time as any
08:32:15 syv: I rolled four d6s on random.org, telling myself I'd take the first number below 5 for my wizard level in that new WIZARDS game. First three dice rolled 4, fourth rolled 2.
08:33:11 Devastator: I think he said everyone was level 3.
08:33:17 syv: Some lurker named Foxtrot just started an illustrated dungeon crawl using Wizards' rules and setting.
08:33:24 Devastator: I'll wait for him to confirm my sheet before rolling for any additional stats.
08:33:37 Devastator: well, not really Wizard's rules. I liked the roll under system
PW was using.
08:34:58 syv: Mm, yeah. He modified a bunch, but kept the levelup and counter system, along with the stat array and action economy.
08:35:16 syv: Changed all the rolls though.
08:35:50 syv: And... yes, everyone is level 3. How'd I miss the giant red letters?
08:36:26 Devastator: the stat array is totally different.
08:36:38 Devastator: action economy, yeah.
08:36:58 syv: Str/dex/mind, they modify d6 rolls.
08:40:52 Devastator: ..and as such, are useless after +1...
08:42:01 Devastator: at least if they're straight d6 rolls.
08:45:52 Devastator: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9...
08:46:15 Devastator: critfail, failure, partial success, success, perfect success, overshoot, greater overshoot, greater overshoot...
08:46:16 syv: The wording is you get +1 for every 3 points, and there's no mention of overshots.
08:47:07 Devastator: Yeah, right, it says 'amazing success' not 'overshoot.'
09:21:54 syv:
Dev, you should link an actual pic of Beethro. Unless you specifically don't want him drawing the actual char.

09:29:46 parisbre56:
syv: I was thinking that since the armor I make is made out of my soul and I have Immaculate Soul I could combine the two and make it even more protective. That should hopefully make it more useful to the team.
09:30:05 parisbre56: especially if I get IS3
09:32:06 syv: Immaculate Soul is essentially immunity to status effects and environmental effects. It's a bit weird and gimmicky, but while IS3 would let you walk through a forest fire without issue, it doesn't mean you'd be immune to a fire elemental's attempts to kill you. You'd be immune to being caught on fire, but could still get burned by it.
09:33:51 syv: So... it's meaningless against being punched, or shot, or whatever, because those don't fall under its immunity umbrella. Most anything armor protects you against doesn't care about IS, while most things IS grants immunity to don't matter for your armor (though for those that do, the effect does extend to your totem).
09:35:18 syv: ...It'd work as an amazing hazmat suit, if that's what you mean.
09:36:26 syv: Not perfect, plate armor has gaps so stuff like drowning would still be a threat, but sure it'd still protect against fire or radiant effects. Maybe even offer some defense against sonic or aura effects, that sounds interesting.
09:36:47 parisbre56: well, even if all I end up doing is spreading IS to the rest of the team that would probably be worth it.
09:37:42 syv: Also, the armor will always be really clean and shiny.
09:38:34 parisbre56: of course it will be. it's my perfect armor after all~
09:38:57 ER: oh i get it you're discount sharon
09:40:19 syv: You *have to* call Ada that IC, eventually.
09:44:51 parisbre56: another thing I've been thinking: since the shield is shiny I could turn it into a mirror use it to look around corners. beyond the obvious benefit that should also work for acting as a relay and extending LoS powers to work behind obstacles. don't know how useful it will be but it sounds fun
09:45:21 parisbre56: act as spotter for a squad of TK girls
09:47:30 syv: Oh yeah, on
Dev's recommendation I was gonna change "line of sight" to "line of effect". Forgot about that.
09:50:05 syv: ...Though that changes the ambiguity from "What if I'm blind/headless/wearing a helmet/have sixth sense?" to "What if my body/clothes/fist is in the way?"...
09:52:01 parisbre56: You could just change it to "anything you could reach and know about"
09:52:24 parisbre56: though that might mean you could reach into people's lungs
09:52:45 parisbre56: unless you say the opening in the throat is too small
09:53:02 syv: Yeaaah I don't know if there's any good way to phrase the limitation. Bah! People will just have to ask questions.
10:24:59 parisbre56: just giant shield pauldrons
