The below can be used to save the settings to a file or load them from a file. Useful if you want to transfer the settings between devices or feel better editing the settings by hand. Settings are stored as a cookie in your browser.
The below is a unique name for your settings. If you update your settings on one device, all other devices with the same name should be updated. This is done by checking if the stored cookie has an update date later than your current cookie. If you change the name, then the update date will be set to 0 so that an attempt will be made to load the latest data from the database.

Pushing the button below will register your browser and cookie ID so that you will receive push notifications. This happens automatically when loading the page, it is merely left here as a debug tool.
The below can be used to set an offset in minutes to alter the displayed timestamp. So, for example, someone in CST (which is UTC-6) will use an offset of -6*60=-360. Autodetect should find your offset automatically using javascript.
Check the below if you want the logs to attempt to render links in a pretty manner
The below can be used to set a colour for each user's name, overriding the automatically generated colours. Saved colours are displayed in order of priority. Notify allows you to receive push notifications for replies mentioning that name.

01:53:39 ER: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perverse_incentive this is a fun list :P
02:43:08 ER: yup, it's tournament time. https://killsixbilliondemons.com/comic/king-of-swords-6-59/
03:27:52 Devastator: dun dun dun...
03:28:01 Devastator: so is muscle ally going to compete?
03:28:08 ER: probably?
03:28:35 Devastator: in truth, it's more fight scenes.
03:28:37 Devastator: which is good.
03:28:44 Devastator: no offense, but it's the best part of k6bd.
03:28:53 Devastator: even if the fight scene is like a card game or drinking contest.
03:34:29 Devastator: ...
03:34:39 Devastator: one of his generated footballers is "Diego Dos Santos."
03:35:37 ER: is it acceptable in a cyberpunk setting for EVERYTHING to be vulnerable to wireless hacking?
03:35:55 ER: Including like, people and guns and such?
03:36:19 Devastator: That's how it works in current Shadowrun.
03:36:24 Devastator: because people there are morons.
03:37:06 ER: Maybe I could make it so that you can choose to not be networked, but you lose out on some things and the government gets angry if they find out.
03:37:35 ER: Guns having any wireless shit built in is pretty hard to justify, though.
03:37:58 ER: outside of "because that makes hacking more fun"
03:38:04 Devastator: Aren't there guns IRL with wireless shit built in?
03:38:47 ER: I dunno, one popular idea in fiction is guns that can only be fired by their proper owners.
03:39:19 Devastator: Yeah.
03:39:29 Devastator: Those aren't necessarily wireless, though.
03:39:53 ER: I guess libruls sometimes are like "put tracking chips in every gun!" which seems rather impractical.
03:40:53 ER: yeah, just put a little USB in the wrist of your future armor and a corresponding plug in the gun. ;P
03:41:36 Devastator: Well, that part isn't that impractical, Rfids are like $5.
03:41:57 Devastator: but it'd probably make it easier to fake guns.
03:42:25 ER: I less mean the expense and more in actually getting everyone to go along with it.
03:42:37 Devastator: Yeah.
03:42:54 Devastator: Also, wireless shit in your aircraft-mounted gun is a lot more acceptable..
03:48:09 Devastator: So.. want me to change my orders in Mook?
03:49:36 ER: you do whatever's most fun for you~
03:50:02 Devastator: Man, I'm fine.
03:50:09 Devastator: for all I know the admin area is where the anomaly is.
03:50:12 Devastator: What is it, anyway?
03:50:55 ER: a woman got possessed by something that was living inside a crystal ball.
03:51:13 ER: ball got smashed, spirit escaped, stole her body.
03:51:28 Devastator: so.. grab the woman but don't smash her?
03:51:43 ER: my successful Occult roll told me that killing her is a bad, bad idea. the spirit will just possess someone else.
03:51:57 Devastator: oh, ok.
03:52:56 ER: also it grows stronger with repeated possessions, so solving THAT problem the same way will make things progressively worse and worse.
03:52:57 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
03:53:21 Devastator: Hey syv.
03:53:55 syv: As far as wireless handguns, not really. There's been a number of handguns with built-in RFIDs to ensure only the owner can fire them, but all have failed commercially to my knowledge.
03:55:17 syv: I believe militaries have experimented with sensors and stuff on rifles, but not really anything which would fire infantry weapons, or really hamper their usage. Vehicle weapons, sure, sky's the limit there. We have remote control *aircraft*, so literally.
03:55:20 ER: well, economics can be handwaved some in a cyberpunk setting.
03:55:48 ER: Say that the tech improved enough to be reliable and that militaries/police forces adopted it.
03:56:25 syv: Oh, easily. It wouldn't be at all unreasonable to have a setting where every gun has a built-in RFID, and you have to have the proper credentials on a device in your hand to fire it. Then, guns need to be hacked to use.
03:56:54 ER: if you have police sniper drone hovering over the city, that could be fun for a hacker. :P
03:57:19 syv: Throw in some remote operation stuff, most likely a kill switch combined with a guncam for police weapons, and that's got hacking opportunities.
03:59:14 ER: basically thinking of a two team game, two secret orginizations in a cyberpunk city trying to eliminate each other, with civillans and police getting in the way.
03:59:38 ER: and a silly tron-style "cyberspace" layer, of course.
03:59:40 syv: And yes, remote drones are totally reasonable. Technologically possible today, really, though I don't believe anyone's really pursuing it. Hardest part would be getting it to be actually accurate, but I don't think that's a technological limit.
03:59:52 syv: You have my interest.
03:59:54 Devastator: and lag.
03:59:57 Devastator: don't forget lag.
04:00:45 syv: Also, yeah, sniper drone. One shot at a time, high altitude. Probably best with a low caliber and lots of recoil reduction. Automatic would be a hilariously bad idea, and completely worthless.
04:01:03 ER: I always wondered why we put missiles on the robots we appear to mostly use to assassainate people. A rifle would be more economical, surely. :P
04:01:23 Devastator: long range sniper shots are hard.
04:01:35 syv: Actually, no, Dev. We've got autonomous camera drones which can track people completely on their own, purely using on-board computers. Commercial, even; my dad has one.
04:01:40 ER: robots are good at hard things.
04:02:04 ER: and bad at easy things, just like Dev!
04:02:24 Devastator: ..hmm?
04:02:34 Devastator: cameras are easier than bullets..
04:02:36 syv: Missiles have very little failure chance and are much, much easier. There's a lot of data that goes into a sniper shot, and collecting all that data is hard, even if crunching it is easy for a computer.
04:02:59 syv: Yes, but lag isn't the issue.
04:03:23 ER: (also more expensive and therefore more profitable for the folks designing it)
04:03:51 syv: Getting the gun on a big enough mount that is precise enough to place the bullet accurately is difficult, but getting them to determine where they need to put the bullet? Relatively easy.
04:04:16 Devastator: lag is an issue when things shoot back.
04:04:36 syv: Also, yeah, this is something that would probably cost as much as a cheap car, by modern tech. Maybe more.
04:04:53 syv: I never said you could make the drone effective in a firefight. :P
04:05:40 syv: But something that hovers 200 meters out, flying in the sky, colored dark during the night? You'd have no real ability to target it yourself. Maybe during the day, though it'd still be difficult.
04:05:48 ER: yeah, this probably isn't going to be a thing that can take even a single bullet pretty much anywhere. I'd think you'd rely on it being too high up to return fire effecively.
04:05:50 Devastator: Yeah, use that missile then.
04:06:27 ER: missiles are espensive and hard to hide.
04:07:09 ER: in terms of the game idea I had, it would be something the players COULD get, but it would take some resources and attract unwanted attention.
04:07:21 syv: Missile has collateral. This would be a police tool, methinks. Operates like a police sniper, but has less risk to the officer, and can take shots no officer could ever get in position to take, due to being an aircraft. Precise enough to avoid collateral damage, unlike a missile, small enough to be stralthy and economical, unlike a helicopter.
04:07:29 Devastator: they are expensive, though.
04:07:59 ER: that's why you hack the police ones~
04:08:15 syv: IRL it'd still never be used because it's an autonomous murder device, but in fiction we can have the world be as dystopian as we like!
04:08:40 Devastator: there are plenty of autonomous murder devices.
04:08:44 Devastator: they're called 'kittens.'
04:08:45 ER: chicks dig autonomous murder devices.
04:14:37 Devastator: yes.
04:30:25 ER: hm
04:31:19 ER: is it possible for an online game, such as a multiplayer FPS to have a functional server browser without having some central server?
04:31:45 Devastator: Yeah.
04:32:23 ER: without having to type in an IP or something? just click and see a list of servers in game?
04:32:50 ER: that is, a list of every connected server for that game on the internet?
04:33:06 Devastator: That in particular, no.
04:34:34 ER: like if the company making the game died entirely, and you wanted to get a match going without looking up a fan site or something.
04:34:48 Devastator: Depends on the game.
04:35:02 syv: Fanservers and P2P games.
04:35:09 syv: Only two real options.
04:35:39 ER: So you'd need to find someone else who plays outside of the game itself.
04:41:26 syv: Yup. Probably through fansites, which are--you guessed it--hosted on servers.
04:42:06 ER: not very hard in practice so long as search engines exist. :P
04:44:43 ER: still, it takes there being people willing and able to host their own sites for the sake of the game.
04:44:55 syv: So you gonna run a test of this cyberpunk game?
04:45:41 syv: Also, not -quite-. There's plenty of ways to set up a free-ish community on some service that gets money from other things.
04:45:57 ER: hmm, part of the premise was having a fairly detailed city map. Something like frozen synapse 2
04:46:07 syv: FS2 is a tragedy.
04:46:14 syv: Sorry, refled.
04:46:17 syv: *reflex.
04:46:28 ER: then both teams would pick a building to put their base in secretly.
04:46:54 ER: the goal would be to explore and hack to find the other base and destroy it.
04:47:01 syv: I'd suggest taking the Chalice path for city design, then fleshing out individual segments only when needed.
04:47:04 Devastator: like X-Com Apocalypse.
04:47:22 ER: like [insert game with detailed city map] :P
04:47:33 syv: Was Apoc a tragedy? I've never played it, but I think it'd be hard to be as bad as FS2.
04:47:42 ER: that game that Introversion were making then decided was too hard.
04:47:57 ER: Apoc is cool, but unfinished.
04:48:55 ER: I tried to play it but the emulated verson on steam had some major visual bugs that made it unplayable, sadly.
04:49:22 ER: there was an Openapoc project but I haven't heard about it for a while
04:50:09 Devastator: I have a non-steam version around somewhere..
04:50:12 Devastator: works fine.
04:50:55 syv: HMMM. Pay money to Steam for a version that doesn't work, or pirate a free version which does... hard choice.
04:51:21 syv: Oh hey, I have internet right now, so if either of you want to do anything I'm free.
04:52:39 ER: you know, as much as I like the idea of doing a game set in a city, I'm not entirely sure how to make said city?
04:52:54 Devastator: well, I could roll one up for you.
04:53:41 syv: Ask Piecewise to make a system for it, he'd probably like the challenge.
04:54:29 syv: Thinking about it, I've seen a few neat ideas for gamey random map generation, making a city version of those shouldn't be *too* difficult...
04:58:40 ER: Dev, would your way end up with a street-level map?
05:00:15 Devastator: Nope!
05:00:19 Devastator: Sadly.
05:00:37 syv: You know, boarding and commandeering a giant starship would be an absolutely terrifying endeavor.
05:00:59 syv: Even with overwhelming force and numbers on your side.
05:01:35 Devastator: Maybe.
05:03:51 syv: The people you're attacking have control of the power systems, and taking control of said power systems would be the hardest thing to do. They have full knowledge of the environment, how everything works, and any modifications that have been made or could be made.
05:04:34 syv: They have every advantage, extreme degrees of control, and it's all in a giant machine that's *in space*.
05:06:20 ER: so wear a space suit
05:07:14 ER: they're the ones who have to live there, so they lose the most from a firefight breaking out and smashing vital systems.
05:07:49 syv: A good spaceship would have a lot of compartmentalization, so you could cut things off to certain areas.
05:08:14 Devastator: Yeah.
05:08:28 ER: then again, if both sides have an interest in not breaking shit, it might be more of a melee. microgravity knife fights.
05:08:42 syv: And wearing a space suit, unless it's something super hi-tech (which is admittedly ubiquitous in scifi) would seriously hamper CQB.
05:10:00 syv: Dev PM's me a thing about Steve just trivializing any boarding operation you get involved in.
05:10:06 syv: *PM'd
05:10:14 ER: kek
05:10:25 syv: It's not revelant, I just wanted to mention it.
05:11:03 ER: also if we're talking about *giant* spaceships then a suit that's more flexable doesn't seem out of place.
05:12:21 ER: what we have now is basically terrible, but if we're making that much of an investment in space technology in our magical scifi world, skin hugging suits is probably a logical step.
05:13:27 syv: Giving every soldier a suit good enough to survive a vacuum, while not hampering dexterity, though? I don't think that a reasonable possibility unless your side is *very* rich.
05:13:39 ER: https://i.imgur.com/ja4CoPo.png
05:13:46 Devastator: ...
05:13:58 Devastator: I mean, you've got spaceships.
05:14:01 Devastator: nobody in space is poor.
05:14:03 syv: The whole MCP idea is neat, but I have SIGNIFICANT doubt that it works as well as theorized.
05:14:45 ER: that's a city generator that looks a lot like the FS2 one, but it's actually a prototype by introversion software that I got from a humble bundle way back.
05:15:09 syv: ...Well, solution found?
05:15:13 ER: it doesn't seem to have any way to export what you've make or take a nice top-down shot
05:15:41 Devastator: Prequel update.
05:16:08 syv: Anyway, clearing in a ship isn't just difficult because space. It combines all the worst parts of urban combat with the worst parts of subterranean combat, and then throws in a few extra challenges for flavor.
05:16:22 syv: Does it have a way to generate from a seed?
05:17:25 ER: it does have a seed, but it's a random extra thing that was available in a limited-time sale years and years ago.
05:20:36 syv: I don't like Makkon's style.
05:21:39 syv: That hoodie he sells is actually pretty good though, I have one right here and it's my favorite hoodie. Has an appropriately giant hood.
05:22:26 syv: ...Or, no, he's selling anew thing. A stupider thing. Neat.
05:23:44 ER: "You confirm that, yes, you do have a signed contract telling you this is okay."
05:24:57 syv: One of the sizing options for the hood is "Literal cat" and suddenly I actually have interest in the stupid apparel.
05:25:17 Devastator: Heh.
05:25:18 syv: None of my cats are Katia's color though. :\
05:25:31 Devastator: so breed one up.
05:35:05 ER: https://i.imgur.com/5Zp48sz.png
05:35:24 Devastator: That's pretty good.
05:35:34 syv: That looks hard to use.
05:35:52 ER: yeah...
05:36:20 ER: it's kinda hard to get a good shot?
05:36:59 ER: I have to screen capture too, as it doesn't have a built in photo button
05:37:08 ER: almost as if it wasn't made for this!
05:38:15 syv: Could just use FS2 if you literally only want the building map?
05:38:48 syv: If nothing else you *are* able to load up the exsct same map repeatedly and look at it.
05:39:47 ER: I'd say that one problem with that is that I don't own it but then you'd probably just give it to me >.>
05:40:16 syv: Yeah?
05:40:23 syv: Want a torrent link?
05:41:16 ER: just unsure how well it'd work for that, really.
05:41:23 syv: Want a torrent link?
05:41:32 ER: no
05:42:25 syv: Okay then.
05:44:37 syv: "jumping out of a second-story window sounds like a *really cool* way to make an exit..."
05:44:59 ER: not sure how much effort I want to go to to create a map for a hypothetical game I don't have anything *else* made for yet.
05:45:34 ER: however sweet "cyberpunk Chalice" sounds.
05:45:49 syv: Disregard such concerns and DIVE FULL BLAST INTO IT YEAH!
05:45:53 Devastator: Chalice wasn't cyberpunk?
05:45:57 Devastator: Nah, update tachell.
05:46:01 syv: No cyber, so no.
05:46:14 syv: ...Wait, yeah, update tacy\tihell.
05:46:21 syv: Tactihell too.
05:46:26 ER: Chalice is plexipunk
05:46:33 syv: ^
05:46:50 ER: aw, now I miss Chalice
05:47:04 Devastator: You could absolutely have cyber in Chalice.
05:47:24 ER: but the *setting* wasn't cyber itself.
05:47:44 Devastator: well, except for the magitech.
05:47:44 ER: the setting was plexi, which in turn pretty much lets the players do whatever the fuck they want.
05:47:48 Devastator: We just were slumming with the poor people.
06:03:46 Devastator: oh well.
06:03:50 Devastator: I hope Cabal continues.
06:04:00 ER: it better
06:04:43 ER: pfff
06:04:54 ER: sadly, I want to drop vessel.
06:05:02 ER: I didn't like, really give it a chance
06:05:20 syv: Okay, drop it.
06:05:29 syv: THEN UPDATE TACTIHELL.
06:13:20 syv: Heeey Dev, wanna play Surviv?
06:13:53 Devastator: lemme check my connectoin.
06:13:55 Devastator: but sure.
06:14:59 Devastator: http://surviv.io/#gGS8
06:16:43 Devastator: should be ok.
06:21:45 MidJag has joined #einsteinianroulette
06:21:56 MidJag: lo
06:23:11 ER: hi hello
06:23:25 syv: Hey, you.
06:23:32 Devastator: heya.
06:23:33 MidJag: How're you ER?
06:23:37 Devastator: got about a full second's lag.
06:23:39 MidJag: and syv and dev
06:23:40 syv: Why have you always been joining at like 2 AM?
06:23:43 ER: hmm maybe now that you're exiting the boring cave biome art will become harder
06:23:48 syv: Dev and I are playing surviv.
06:23:55 Devastator: well, sort of.
06:24:00 Devastator: I'm getting more of a slideshow effect.
06:24:00 MidJag: Because that's when I finnaly decide I'm going to go insanse if I study anymore
06:24:11 syv: Wanna join us?
06:24:14 MidJag: sure
06:24:54 MidJag: linky?
06:25:18 Devastator: http://surviv.io/#gGS8
06:27:35 MidJag: wow I am laggy
06:28:21 Devastator: Yeah, this lag isn't working out.
06:28:28 syv: The M1100 sucks, fyi.
06:28:40 Devastator: I think it's underrated.
06:28:53 syv: You can survive in the zone pretty long early on.
06:29:04 syv: Should've stayed back and broken the airdrop crate.
06:30:10 syv: This map has way, way too much lack of weapons.
06:30:56 MidJag: Still weirdlly laggy
06:31:05 Devastator: This lag is terrible.
06:31:19 syv: MJ, strobes are good for offense, closing off an area of retreat so they can't run without risk.
06:31:21 Devastator: roomate's been talking with his gf for the last seven hours.
06:31:26 syv: Tossing it and running won't do anything.
06:31:40 syv: How is she still his GF?
06:32:09 MidJag: I don't even have a roommate anymore and I still have horrible lag.~
06:32:15 syv: Did any of you DL SWAT 4?
06:32:18 MidJag: I did
06:32:45 Devastator: Nah, just finished.
06:32:50 Devastator: he's downloading stuff now.
06:33:02 Devastator: so.. bumped him off, because he's asleep and we can play now.
06:39:22 syv: Okay,
06:39:24 Devastator: Much easier when not lagging.
06:39:29 MidJag: nice
06:39:29 syv: Dev is now Team leader. Follow Dev.
06:39:35 Devastator: Heh.
06:39:39 MidJag: Agreed
06:39:44 syv: Because I know he's the one who always refuses to stick with others -.-
06:39:46 Devastator: well, you two did good too..
06:39:52 MidJag: Dev is more human blender than team leader~
06:46:00 Devastator: welp.
06:46:09 syv: I spent that entire round using semiautos.
06:46:12 syv: I shouldn't do that.
06:46:21 Devastator: the M1A4s isn't a semiauto..
06:46:25 Devastator: it's a stupidly good weapon though.
06:46:32 MidJag: What was that green gun I was using/
06:46:36 syv: Aww, yeah, but only used it for like 15 secknds.
06:46:42 Devastator: Dunno.
06:46:47 syv: Barely had one mag.
06:46:51 Devastator: oh.
06:46:55 Devastator: I dropped more ammo for it.
06:47:01 syv: The QBB? Decent, better than any ARs if you have the green.
06:47:08 syv: Ah.
06:47:09 MidJag: Yeah that
06:47:12 MidJag: Liked that one
06:47:12 syv: Didn't realize.
06:47:18 MidJag: that and the tommy were useful
06:47:20 Devastator: stupid good.
06:47:31 syv: brb
06:47:48 Devastator: I'm just glad I got my allocutment of melee kills.
06:47:49 MidJag: whatcha been up to dev?
06:47:54 Devastator: Working.
06:47:59 Devastator: and human blender, heh.
06:48:04 MidJag: how's the job?
06:48:11 Devastator: Everything's breaking down.
06:48:39 MidJag: Heh, I suppose that's nice if your the guy who repairs it and hellish if you arent.
06:49:22 Devastator: or hellish if you're the guy who repairs things.
06:49:43 Devastator: http://www.scarygoround.com/badmachinery/index.php?date=20110928
06:49:58 syv: Back.
06:50:34 Devastator: again?
06:50:38 MidJag: You could look at either way in that case dev. One on hand your proving your purpose, on the other hand now you have to fix all the shit
06:50:39 syv: Yes.
06:50:47 ER: oh yeah
06:50:49 syv: And why that comic?
06:50:55 ER: I was going to put a fight in this room
06:51:04 ER: because this game is supposedly about fight
06:51:05 ER: s
06:51:17 ER: and I haven't really given you a proper stand up one yet
06:52:14 ER: and yet I drew up this room and wrote a whole turn with it *not even occuring to me* that a fight could possibly be a thing.
06:54:52 Devastator: fuck.
06:55:00 Devastator: guy with M4A1s and a saiga-12.
06:55:02 ER: I should obviously build game systems without any combat rules at all because dropping fights on people is not my GMing style
06:56:13 MidJag: damnit, I got squished
06:58:19 MidJag: alright, I think next one might be my last
07:00:03 Devastator: ok.
07:00:09 Devastator: oh, you can also kill the stone blocks with airstrikes.
07:06:15 Devastator: ...
07:06:16 Devastator: ok..
07:06:20 Devastator: I think that's enough of that mode.
07:06:21 MidJag: nice
07:06:25 syv: So: Don't fire flares in the red zone.
07:06:31 syv: You can carry them out.
07:06:34 Devastator: Yeah.
07:06:38 Devastator: but I got two full boxes!
07:07:02 MidJag: Anyway, I should go to bed.
07:07:04 Devastator: or do, if you have the healing items.
07:07:17 Devastator: I finished with an AN-94 and a Saiga-12.
07:07:20 syv: In squad I'd suggest not to regardless of heals.
07:07:25 Devastator: makes sense.
07:07:41 syv: Your allies don't necessarily have the heals, and the drain from three people isn't worth it.
07:08:21 Devastator: def.
07:08:36 Devastator: yeah, just shoot them in the safe zone.
07:08:38 Devastator: or shoot them immediately.
07:08:58 syv: MJ had grabbed them in the red zone and shot immediately.
07:09:14 Devastator: mmm.
07:09:16 Devastator: yeah.
07:09:16 syv: It seemed like he chained that two or three in a row? Which is lucky, but very wasteful.
07:09:31 Devastator: I did get to loot those boxes, though.
07:09:39 syv: Anyway, Dev, did you download SWAT 4?
07:09:40 MidJag: Yeah, I didn't think through that action
07:09:41 Devastator: you guys didn't need me.
07:09:49 Devastator: don't think so.
07:10:04 Devastator: lemme check.
07:10:06 syv: Okay, then.
07:10:08 MidJag: anyway, night.
07:10:11 syv: Night.
07:10:11 MidJag has left #einsteinianroulette
07:10:21 Devastator: No, was downloading goblin slayer for PW.
07:10:31 syv: ...For PW?
07:11:12 Devastator: I think so.
07:11:23 Devastator: not ER.
07:11:26 Devastator: but PW wanted it.
07:11:35 Devastator: and recommended shield hero, but I think I'll skip that.
07:11:50 ER: what do you call it when
07:12:17 ER: something has its tail cut off but not at the base, just making it shorter?
07:12:30 Devastator: lopped?
07:12:34 Devastator: trimmed?
07:12:36 ER: lopped?
07:13:13 Devastator: lopped off?
07:13:55 syv: chopped, shortened, hacked, etc.
07:14:10 syv: "severed in the middle" works.
07:15:33 syv: @Dev does your current wifi setup allow you to port forward?
07:16:45 Devastator: I don't use wifi.
07:16:49 Devastator: and yes I can port forward.
07:18:44 Devastator: RWR stuff?
07:22:44 syv: SWAT 4, actually. There's public servers available which cycle through various maps, but they're not ideal to use, and require messing with one additional file. Mostly asking to see if it's even an option.
07:22:52 Devastator: Ahh.
07:22:55 Devastator: Yeah it's an option.
07:28:26 ER: I want to exclaim something but it would be a spoiler, oh no.
07:28:32 Devastator: oh?
07:28:34 Devastator: about what?
07:29:09 ER: tachel, what else?
07:30:17 Devastator: ahh
07:37:06 Devastator: Did you have a particular map in mind?
07:37:09 Devastator: one that's not dark, say?
07:39:47 ER: I guess if I ever have to defeat Dev I'll know what his weakness is
07:40:02 ER: just fight him at night with dim lighting
07:40:26 Devastator: If you do that intentionally, I'll just tweak my monitor, you know.
07:40:46 ER: can't tweak the monitor of life
07:40:55 Devastator: Yes, that'll work.
07:50:09 syv: SWAT 4 has a campaign mode, which takes you through the missions from easiest to hardest, and slowly unlocks weapons and equipment, so you don't start off with ten (or fifty) different options for every aspect of your loadout.
07:50:49 syv: If someone runs the campaign mode, we're guaranteed to start with the easier "training" levels, and without so many items that there's just a flood of choices.
07:51:38 ER: it's fun to make demons and make them ever so slightly unique and give them name
07:52:08 syv: If we instead use a server, we might get put into one of the seriously difficult maps, like the one that has about fifty russian mobsters crammed into a moderately sized family home, or the one where you have a time limit to find four bombs in a multistory flooded concrete building that has a bunch of heavily armed gunmen hiding everywjere.
07:52:23 ER: would I ruin the mood for everyone in swat4 if I just charge in and shoot everyone with a shotgun?
07:52:26 syv: And there will be just a metric fuckton of guns and equipment available to use.
07:52:29 syv: Not at all!
07:52:34 syv: You can also just punch people.
07:53:36 Devastator: Sadly, I suspect I'll be required to use weapons that aren't mac-10s and rifle-round revolvers.
07:54:02 syv: Shotguns are generally pretty good in SWAT 4. They start to become a bit sad once you run into heavily armored suspects, but before then they're awesome tools.
07:54:28 syv: You can shoot the locks off of armored doors with shotguns, too, which generally means you want *at least* one shotgunner.
07:54:44 syv: Explosives and lockpicks are slow.
07:56:18 syv: Oh, there's a MAC-10 in the game, and .357 revolver, but in both cases you'd need to be playing on one of the servers to use them.
07:56:35 syv: Or host the same gametype as the server, that also works.
07:57:30 Devastator: oh good.
07:57:40 ER: those enemy weapons?
07:58:06 syv: Yes.
07:58:25 ER: obviously Dev should run Opfor
07:58:39 syv: You can't pick up guns or ammo in this game, though. What you start with is all you get.
07:59:19 syv: Though you can load yourself down more heavily than any real life soldier would need or want, despite being a cop.
07:59:21 Devastator: shouldn't I always be running Opfor?
08:00:27 syv: There's versus game modes, but then we'd *have* to have Dev host. None of the SEF servers run them, and the base game is... not as fun.
08:01:30 Devastator: mmm.
08:01:34 Devastator: I might not have the bandwidth for that.
08:05:49 ER: there we go
08:07:25 syv: ?
08:07:33 ER: tac
08:07:34 ER: hel
08:10:08 ER: TACHEL
08:10:43 ER: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=173230.msg7962660#msg7962660
08:10:56 ER: T A C T I C A L H E L L
08:12:39 Devastator: ooh
08:13:00 ER: now featuring weird dogs
08:13:13 ER: because I had to give you a real fight at some point.
08:13:47 ER: bugs were going to be that but then mister book kinda bypassed the fight
08:19:15 ER: did syv just go AFK or did he just start reading the turn before saying "yay"?
08:19:27 Devastator: Probably.
08:19:53 ER: don't you inclusiveor me
08:21:14 syv: Dev is distracting me from finishing reading, by talking about more furry webcomics.
08:21:32 ER: ...
08:21:34 ER: why?
08:22:07 Devastator: ..because syv asked?
08:22:14 syv: "For some reason I have the voice of an anime girl."
08:22:28 syv: ER, this isn't abnormal, you always sound like an anime girl.
08:22:41 syv: One with a relatively deep voice, but still an anime girl.
08:22:55 ER: cool
08:29:57 syv: ER, if I move adjacent to one of the dogs, would it get an attack of opportunity against me? Or no, because it hasn't had a turn yet?
08:30:32 ER: no
08:32:09 Devastator: Why does catgirl always lose initiative?
08:32:10 syv: If I move between a dog and an allly, and then that ally attacks that dog, do they take any penalty on the roll?
08:32:56 syv: Because catgirl has low focus.
08:33:28 syv: The idea being that catgirl is ADD, but that's a little lost since ADD would *improve* initiative if anything.
08:33:44 ER: did I not write down any rules for shooting past someone?
08:34:00 ER: eh, let's say no
08:34:57 Devastator: sounds like a problem that can be solved with more drugs.
08:35:19 syv: Damn.
08:35:59 syv: Real quick, just say that on a miss your shot will hit the person intervening inst... wait, no, that's hilariously abusable.
08:36:46 syv: Simply position catgirl on the far side of the enemy, and give your worst shot the biggest gun. Catgirl dodges incompetent gunner, IG shoots at CG, misses, shot hits enemy.
08:40:20 syv: If I parry a reach weapon while they're not in range, I presume they're undamaged by the parry, rather than being yanked closer and stabbed?
08:40:24 syv: @ER
08:40:45 syv: Also, does reach work diagonally, or only orthogonally?
08:40:59 ER: no, they take damage
08:41:43 syv: Wow. That's awesome.
08:42:03 syv: So Alexander could solo this fight, no sweat.
08:42:19 ER: diagonals count as two tiles away so within reach range
08:44:33 syv: Acrion posted.
08:51:15 syv: ER, did you DL SWAT 4?
08:51:23 ER: no
08:51:33 syv: If I send you a torrent, will you DL it?
08:51:40 ER: sure
09:29:44 ER: hmmmm
09:30:00 ER: you mean to go 1W, *then* 2N, right?
09:30:11 syv: Does it matter?
09:30:18 ER: cause otherwise you kinda collide with a pillar~
09:30:30 syv: Ah. Didn't realize it was solid.
09:30:36 syv: Yes, 1W 2N.
09:31:14 ER: it's the same color as the rest of the solid stuff
09:32:37 syv: No, most of the solid stuff is plain white.
09:32:55 syv: Or transparent, I guess.
09:33:38 ER: transparent is stuff you can't see.
09:34:52 ER: the walls here are a slightly greenish grey which is probably easier to see on the light theme
09:35:04 syv: I always use light theme.
09:35:17 ER: yup
09:35:36 ER: so I dunno what you're drinking, the walls aren't white~
09:35:45 syv: I'm just saying I was judging where the walls are by looking at where the map ends.
09:58:36 ER: updated
09:58:39 syv has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
10:02:31 ER: off he goes
10:07:55 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
10:11:01 ER: back he comes
10:11:18 syv: Posted in PS.
10:11:27 ER: what should I call cyberpunk Chalice?
10:11:28 syv: Not sure if Dev is waiting on anything, there.
10:11:56 syv: Cylice? Cylunk? Cylink?
10:12:09 ER: slink
10:12:17 ER: sylink
10:13:05 ER: would be a good idea to name it after whatever city it's set in, but I don't feel creative in that direction
10:13:38 syv: It'd also be a good idea to name it after me~
10:13:50 ER: also, I UNDERSTOOD THAT REFERENCE
10:13:59 syv: Eh?
10:14:06 syv: What reference?
10:14:10 ER: in PS :V
10:14:33 syv: ...What reference???
10:14:52 syv: The "wish away all witches"?
10:14:53 ER: you know, wish away all witches
10:14:59 syv: Ah. Yeah.
10:15:22 ER: I just want you to know that I GOT THAT
10:15:33 syv: Pumsy said that because canonically that wish has been made before. Many times. Always prefaced with that same question.
10:16:02 ER: "no, you are not jesus"
10:18:19 syv: "Sorry..."
10:18:52 ER: ...guess she has correct domain for time fuckery. :P
10:19:44 Devastator: Cyberpunk Chalice would be..
10:19:49 ER: Now let's watch her make that wish, causing her to join the team and Mina to be alive again, with Asha leaving, putting us back at four and I have to keep waiting.
10:19:50 ER: yay.
10:20:25 Devastator: Visor.
10:22:00 syv: That won't happen, ER.
10:22:19 syv: Though if she really does make that wish, well, it'll be interesting.
10:22:33 syv: Fun, even, in a DF sense.
10:22:36 Devastator: Does Twin even want to still play?
10:23:25 ER: she just disappears. "what happened?" "oh, she traveled back in time, thus creating a new branch. We're not that one."
10:24:12 Devastator: ..Yeah, I can see that happening.
10:25:02 syv: Twin seemed unhappy about Mina's death, in a "I want to keep playing" way, but Twin's not coming back.
10:25:57 Devastator: ...well, if Twin wanted Mina to not die, then maybe Twin should have done something.
10:26:04 syv: `1
10:26:10 ER: endless doomed timelines is pretty thematic, too. :P
10:26:13 syv: Or continued to not do anything at all.
10:26:33 ER: have you tried GITTING GUD!?!?!?!
10:27:18 Devastator: ok.
10:27:20 Devastator: night.
10:27:25 syv: Night.
10:27:26 ER: <3
10:28:28 ER: the proper edgy character response to "did mina find another way out?" is "not yet." by the way
10:29:53 syv: Unfortunately, precisely zero of the current characters are edgy.
10:30:00 syv: That should change soon, though!
10:30:14 Devastator: edgy?
10:30:22 ER: you have only yourself to blame for this sad fact!
10:32:30 syv: We've got a happy social rich girl with a broadly great life, a depressive passive sadsack who's the exact opposite of her, the too-smart daughter of a disapeared Russian gangster whose remaining family largely hates her, and the poor girl with many siblings and only one surviving parent.
10:32:41 syv: Lots of sadness, very little edge.
10:34:08 ER: I oughta try cheering them up!
10:34:50 ER: everything can be happy and fun so long as nobody asks anything about me.
10:35:39 syv: I look forward to Sophia of all people being a cheerful, happy, inspiring individual.
10:36:04 syv: TBH I've always expected her to be the Kyouko-like one.
10:36:49 ER: as the pure it's my resonsability to keep everyone working together and happy, which is not something the current group is very good at.
10:37:27 syv: Considering another pure will join at the same time, how will that intersect eith her presence?
10:37:47 ER: ritual combat for control of the team.
10:38:12 syv: Hmm.
10:38:25 ER: like two male deers competing for mates but only the parts of that that are okay in this context.
10:39:21 syv: I'm really quite unsure who would win in a match between Sophia and Ada. Prooobably Ada, because she's got a soul advantage? But maybe Sophia would burst her down, and Sophia does have a heal. It'd likely come down to luck.
10:39:56 syv: ...Nah, Sophia would Inner Monster, and that'd kinda just fuck over Ada.
10:40:01 syv: Probably.
10:40:09 ER: what if I don't wanna
10:40:32 syv: You just had the GM give you the best strat.
10:40:38 syv: Why WOULDN'T you?
10:40:54 ER: confronting what's inside of me is fun and all except no it's not any fun at all I'd like to stop now
10:43:02 syv: Heh.
10:43:25 syv: That's a pity, I really wanna write about what happened to your witch form.
10:44:09 ER: also, current inner monster success rate is 0%
10:45:04 syv: :)
10:45:08 ER: also, it seems too lethal for a magical girl duel? and like, prone to collateral damage?
10:45:15 syv: :)
10:45:39 syv: It's Summon Bigger Fish. But last time you tried it, you were already inside a whale.
10:45:48 syv: Ada's no whale, she's barely a shark.
10:46:43 syv: Also, you're already quite low on soul, so that just means the fish will be even *bigger*.
10:46:45 ER: how about we forget what I said and have a nice armwrestling competition with Ada.
10:46:52 ER: Or just a hug. Hugs are nice.
10:47:44 ER: at some point it stops being "summon bigger fish" and starts being "summon apocaliptic force. also kill yourself."
10:49:10 syv: That's when you cast it and immediately run away!
10:50:18 ER: right, and run faster than your friend rather than faster than the bear
10:52:10 syv: Well, if you can't run faster than a bear, maybe you shouldn't summon one.
10:52:37 syv: Or at least take levels in "Summon bear that probably won't kill me."
10:53:45 ER: I took level 2 in that rather than something nice like level 2 mind control because I wanted it and having level 1 is... not helpful?
10:54:39 syv: It's super helpful! Just only in select situations.
10:55:21 ER: also I happen to not know anything about Ada currently.
10:55:47 syv: It's almost as powerful as soul nova, it's cheaper at L1, and has much more sustain to it. Higher levels grant a similar degree of ally-protection, while still being cheaper, too.
10:55:53 ER: I didn't know we'd have two pures! Hopefully our powers complement each other?
10:56:26 syv: Admittedly, Soul Nova would've probably been able to either kill or seriously impair Isabella, when Inner Monster was kinda swatted aside like a gnat, but so it goes.
10:57:37 ER: how dare you casually defeat my inner fears, and doubts? Those are VERY important to me!
10:58:13 syv: Death and Rage overpower a merely Corrupt soul.
10:59:17 ER: my pessimism and self-loathing are the most powerful parts of me!
11:00:55 syv: Hum. That might be a problem. Self-loathing isn't on this list of seven miserable emotions.
11:01:46 ER: yes! I'm an innovator!
11:02:25 ER: the fact that I've created new and novel ways to feel like trash makes me happy, which in turn improves my life expectancy!
11:03:41 ER: the glass may be full of caltrops and rattlesnake venom, but it's half-full, dammit
11:03:57 syv: Nah it's just not a miserable enough emotion to draw much power from it.
11:04:34 syv: It totally exists and is common; just look at Asha. It's just not powerful; just look at Asha.
11:04:51 ER: everything is looking up for Sophia!
11:05:37 syv: Yes, up, where all the witches are.
11:06:27 ER: I'll kick their asses with the power of friendship and also the darkness crawling within my soul
11:07:16 syv: That's the spirit!
11:08:58 ER: I'll figure out which one to use depending on the situation
11:12:17 ER: tell me about Ada though!
11:14:17 syv: Narcissist, lots of dense fluff information about her, kind've difficult to keep straight in my head.
11:14:33 syv: Hates anyone being better than her, uncomfortably close to my own flaws.
11:15:05 ER: oof
11:15:16 ER: going to need a LOT of hugs for this one
11:15:28 syv: Amusingly, she is inherently inferior to Sophia, because Sophia has killed a L27 witch, and has gotten levels and junk for that.
11:15:42 syv: So yeah, she'll probably really really hate Sophia.
11:15:49 ER: or maybe weaponized crushing despair, I'll leave the option open.
11:16:07 ER: Well she can be my Lancer.
11:16:17 ER: Because I'm obviously the hero!
11:18:00 syv: Nah. Aleksandra's obviously the Hero.
11:18:22 syv: Sophia is her lancer, Alida is her mentor, and Ada is the sixth ranger traitor.
11:19:27 ER: I can't be Aleksandra's Lancer, I want to hug her too much
11:19:41 syv: Mina was the... I don't know? Black dude dies first? Redshirt? The char that exists just to die early on so you know things are dangerous.
11:20:11 syv: And Asha is... uhh. Troping her is hard, the heart, maaaybe?
11:20:11 ER: okay, that might depend on the context in which we meet and contenue to interact with each other but that's my current imporession
11:20:40 ER: Asha is a gritty deconstruction of a heart, of course.
11:20:50 syv: And Tooru's the big guy.
11:20:59 syv: Ah. Yeah. Like the chubby girl in SSSS.
11:21:16 ER: alas, poor Tuuri
11:21:40 syv: Yeah, her.
11:21:57 ER: she died so that everyone else could live on, because the artist doesn't have the heart to do it to anyone else :V
11:22:32 syv: Apparently TvTropes has localizations. I accidentally went into the French version, where they call The Lancer "Le Second".
11:22:55 ER: because SSSS, despite the name, is mostly cosy adventure with cute characters
11:23:58 syv: Yeaaah, Sophia is totally Aleksandra's foil, at least if they both live up to their potential.
11:25:30 ER: we shall see! I personally have faith in the director and writers~
11:25:50 ER: real class act, there
11:30:34 ER: hm
11:31:07 ER: if a ward somehow manages to live for a really long time, will they have birthdays and get older?
11:33:15 syv: A ward is just a human tagalong, so yeah? If they don't die, they'll age as any human.
11:39:27 ER: hard mode: survive as a ward long enough to get too old and grow out of these silly games
11:39:41 syv: Literally impossible.
11:39:49 syv: Well, maybe not.
11:39:56 syv: Very very close to impossible.
11:40:59 syv has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
