01:50:55 midnightjaguar: ER in tachhell what does that door look like. Is it obviously cell like?
01:56:55 Devastator: heya MJ.
01:56:59 midnightjaguar: Ello dev
01:57:01 Devastator: and ER.
01:57:02 midnightjaguar: How’re you?
01:57:05 Devastator: Pretty good.
01:57:12 Devastator: Got a busy weekend coming up, though.
01:57:38 ER: It's just a big old iron door.
01:57:42 Devastator: Also, still want you to play Terranigma.
01:57:56 ER: looks the same as all the other other metal doors around here
01:58:13 midnightjaguar: Heh. I get that. What kinda busy? The fun kind or just the busy kind
01:58:25 midnightjaguar: Cool ER.
01:58:42 Devastator: Party to go to on Saturday, something else lined up on Sunday.
01:58:49 midnightjaguar: Cool
01:59:45 midnightjaguar: And how long is terraingma?
01:59:50 midnightjaguar: Like to complete.
02:00:18 Devastator: It's pretty short for it's ers.
02:00:22 Devastator: era.
02:00:39 Devastator: a fastish casual playthrough is about 10 hours.
02:00:46 midnightjaguar: Hmm.
02:00:47 Devastator: a slow casual playthrough is about 15.
02:01:02 midnightjaguar: That might end up being a thing I do in the summer

02:02:31 Devastator: an experienced player not speedrunning is about seven or eight hours.
02:04:22 midnightjaguar_: Hmm. Well I’m about to drive so I GTG.

02:17:10 Devastator: ..Yow.
02:17:28 ER: yoh
02:18:53 Devastator: Yeah..
02:18:55 Devastator: yow.
02:18:59 Devastator: nothing to do with you, though.
02:19:46 ER: Kit's trying to read his book of madness at a non-sapient bug demon
02:20:36 ER: This has a much larger chance to not work than if he tried it on, you know, something which would understand what he's saying.
02:27:12 Devastator: Heh.
02:27:24 Devastator: May want to provide that information through the turn, then.
02:28:09 ER: It will be obvious if he rolls something which would affect himself but not the bug
02:29:03 ER: lowers rolls would be "nothing happens" or "reality warps" but there's a middle ground where understanding the words messes you up.
02:33:06 Devastator: ahh
03:33:15 Devastator: "Filthy, Overgrown Lizard."
03:33:29 Devastator: I hereby give you permission to do all lizard-themed insults you want in CULT. ;-p
03:33:41 ER: Oh yeah, gods shooting at each other at a meeting table.
03:35:28 Devastator: who is green?
03:35:46 ER: gog-agog
03:35:56 ER: we have not seen much of her yet
03:36:03 Devastator: who dat?
03:36:11 ER: I think she runs a fashion brand? something strange like that
03:36:18 ER: she's one of the seven gods though
03:38:03 Devastator: New Frohman's Mind.
03:38:10 ER: nice
04:03:42 Devastator: yes
05:03:54 ER: hm. care to link me?
05:04:40 Devastator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO9BRF1hjic
05:04:46 ER: thanks
05:05:40 Devastator: np.
05:23:58 Devastator: I like the blooper.
05:37:58 ER: Now, what was I doing? guess I have to handle the book thing now.
05:40:18 ER: hmm. have a other idea that's interesting though
05:43:16 Devastator: updating angel game?
05:43:28 ER: nah, tachel
05:43:59 Devastator: oh.
05:44:11 Devastator: I'm still hoping for spontaneous murder commited by the catgirl. ;-p
05:45:01 ER: the thing that I thought of makes that even more likely.
05:45:22 Devastator: oh?
05:47:05 ER: Hell attracts the stray souls of humans from all realities, including close alternative timelines.
05:47:48 ER: So Amph has met someone who is very similar to this dr reed
05:48:45 Devastator: Ahh.
05:51:01 ER: oh hey, book rolls a 96.
05:51:12 Devastator: What's that do?
05:51:15 Devastator: outside of THINGS.
05:51:21 ER: things.
05:51:27 Devastator: Is the [kitten] involved?
05:51:59 ER: I don't have a real table for this, it's just percentage intensity...
06:32:12 ER: Posted
06:35:56 Devastator: ooh.
06:36:40 Devastator: Heh.

06:43:37 MidJag: lo
06:43:47 ER: hello!
06:49:10 MidJag: I see the new turn is posted
06:49:16 ER: yesh
06:52:51 Devastator: heya MJ.
06:53:49 Devastator eagerly awaits gunfire
06:53:59 ER: gunz
06:54:46 Devastator: Eh, if he lives a couple rounds the doc might get things settled down..
06:54:47 MidJag: Shooting is happening
06:54:48 Devastator: ;-p
06:55:18 MidJag: Rakiit is not giving someone who reminds her of the facility that much, time to explain
06:56:00 ER: Do keep in mind that there are two people standing between you and reed.
06:57:03 Devastator: I'm not sure she couldn't jump on top of the first one.
06:59:16 MidJag: Yes, can she jump over knight bro?
07:00:24 Devastator: The doorway square is free.
07:01:07 ER: Yes, you could.
07:01:31 MidJag: Can she shoot past random sword man?
07:01:48 ER: Depends what sword man does.
07:02:31 ER: If he's just standing still, you can shoot but risk hitting him. Or you could just shoot through his body, it's an LMG.
07:02:50 ER: He'd be standing still if you beat his initiative.
07:02:52 MidJag: Hmm, would shooting past him reduce my odds of hitting the doc?
07:03:31 ER: You'd get a small penalty and have a chance to hit them both even if you hit.
07:04:35 MidJag: hmmm
07:05:09 ER: Also Alexander matches your initiative bonus so there's an decent chance he can move fast enough to attempt to stop you.
07:05:51 MidJag: Does alexander even know what my machine gun does?
07:06:14 ER: ...If he cares. I'm not sure but I think he'd probably try to stop you from killing random people he doesn't know.
07:06:25 ER: He knows that it's a gun.
07:06:37 ER: ...Guns are really quite old.
07:06:45 MidJag: True.
07:07:36 ER: He doesn't know what kind of gun it is, it looks strange. He might gather that it's advanced technology if he's imaginative.
07:11:47 Devastator: Hmm.
07:11:52 Devastator: now what guns wouldn't be recognized?
07:12:16 ER: Dunno, would have to be weird.
07:12:58 ER: I mean if it has a trigger and a barrel I think most people can figure it out.
07:13:36 Devastator: P90?
07:13:44 MidJag: AUG?
07:14:42 ER: Yeah, the bullpup guns could have some confusion on "how do you hold this" but if you look at it for any length of time you'll figure out that it's an awful lot like a gun.
07:15:11 ER: A rocket launcher might be confusing.
07:15:54 Devastator: recoiless rifle
07:16:13 ER: Basically just a cannon
07:21:23 MidJag: ER can I aim and shoot a tthe same time?
07:21:26 Devastator: Alex might give you more freedom if you shout out why you're attacking that guy when you do it.
07:21:41 ER: Shooting after Aiming is a free action.
07:21:45 MidJag: oh nice
07:22:44 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
07:23:06 MidJag: hi!
07:23:23 syv: Hey.
07:23:41 MidJag: ....god damint it windows updated, I needed those tabs
07:23:51 Devastator: heya syv.
07:23:54 Devastator: Heh.
07:23:56 syv: Alexander does not know that Rakiit's gun is a gun. He vaugely knows what guns are, I think, but it's so vastly dissimilar to anything he knows of that he's written it off.
07:24:00 Devastator: The glories of always-on updates.
07:24:06 syv: Was it firefox? Restore session.
07:24:23 MidJag: oh right. Yay! My research isn't lost!
07:24:38 MidJag: ...I need to start saving these things prempetivlly.
07:24:46 Devastator: ..Yeah.
07:26:41 syv: @Dev You can prevent Windows from updating. Might take some work, but you definitely can; most of Egan's computer problems have seemed to stem from him inadvertently doing that.
07:26:55 Devastator: I'm sure.
07:26:59 syv: Also using Egan as an example case, it seems like a poor idea.
07:27:45 Devastator: Eh.
07:27:49 Devastator: I've seen it both ways.
07:28:48 syv: I think it helps if you use exclusively third-party programs, rather than relying on the baked-in stuff. Most baked-in things are bloatware that might as well be uninstalled, anyway.
07:29:35 Devastator: The baked in stuff seems more likely to break down, though.
07:29:43 Devastator: I've seen updates break third-party stuff, but less often.
07:30:15 ER: hello
07:31:11 syv: Yes Dev, I agree. That is why I broadly avoid baked-in apps.
07:32:24 ER: Things would be easier if paint.net had a specific tool for line-of-sight :P
07:32:36 syv: Use Maptool?
07:32:54 ER: uh ???
07:33:02 MidJag: Hmm, syv LMG's can overpentrate human torsos right?
07:33:06 syv: ...Man, I don't think I've used Maptool in like six years.
07:34:07 syv: Better question is "Can 5.56 overpenetrate human bodies?" and the answer is "Maybe, probably yes". If it's modern FMJ, it'll pretty much explode and fragment, but the fragments will come out the other side, just far less lethal. If it's AP, very much yes.
07:34:29 ER: all I know is that PW consistantly points me at a tool which looks good enough but also costs money and like fuck that
07:34:32 MidJag: ER are these AP rounds?
07:34:41 Devastator: I would certainly not trust my life to the rounds not overpenetrating.
07:34:44 ER: sure
07:34:47 syv: However it prolly won't overpenetrate both sides of the guy's chestplate.
07:34:59 syv: ...Cuirass? Wasn't it a cuirass?
07:35:03 MidJag: I thought sword dude just had a sword
07:35:12 ER: Sword dude just has a sword
07:35:22 syv: Oh wait he was nerfed.
07:35:27 syv: Durr, I forgot.
07:35:31 Devastator: Could CC4 parry all those bullets?
07:35:37 syv: Absolutely.
07:36:04 ER: yay ten angels
07:47:15 ER: Oi, here's a thing for the tactical system: Aiming now uses up half your movement. In addition to skills you have proficency with different weapons. If you're proficient with a gun aiming uses much less movement and you can move while aiming.
07:47:34 MidJag: ..Sooo what does that do for me?
07:48:02 ER: I won't change tactihell's system
07:48:43 ER: this is for fell metal dress or whatever else I use a tactical gunfight system for.
07:49:37 ER: Any civilian with decent aim can pick up an unknown gun, aim at a target, and hit it. It takes familiarity with the weapon to do so quickly and on the move, though.
07:52:32 syv: Umm. So I've thought a lot about a gun-familiarity system.
07:52:42 syv: I think it's bad unless it's economic in nature.
07:53:55 syv: If it's something like "you need to fire X number of bullets through this gun to achieve Y proficiency", that's a mechanic which allows (rich) players to have an advantage over NPCs, and is simple enough to gain for new guns, while providing disadvantages for just picking new stuff up.
07:54:21 ER: What? No, no way I'm willing to track something like that. Hell no.
07:54:23 syv: And it makes bullet cost and training more real things in a cost sense.
07:54:55 syv: But beyond that, it's a poor idea. It forces players to specialize, and in a gun system, it's better if they can drift around and vary their armament.
07:55:05 syv: I don't mean track every bullet. -.-
07:56:02 Devastator: Yeah.
07:56:12 Devastator: That would suck.
07:56:13 syv: I mean "In your downtime, you can train with your guns. If you want to get this little bonus for familiaty, you need to buy 1000 rounds, and train with them", which basically means "This gun costs X amount of money to gain Y proficiency in."
07:56:23 syv: Completely ignore mission-expended ammo for this.
07:56:42 syv: It's mechanically just a money sink and simple way to allow player progression and advantage.
07:57:10 ER: It's a progression reward that's fairly cheap to hand out, provides a difference between trained and untrained but talented characters.
07:58:08 syv: And again, I think it'd be inappropriate for FMD. FMD shouldn't have money problems, if you want a trained bonus just have that be a *thing*. You're trained or not, you can train with a new gun once per mission. Your organization pays any costs.
07:58:09 ER: Well paying for bullets as a cost is basically the same as paying a magic levelup as a cost.
07:58:36 Devastator: Full Metal Dressage.
07:58:41 Devastator: Everyone's riding horses.
08:00:22 ER: It makes sense that someone more skilled with a firearm takes less time to aim. But that's a little akward to simulate as a stat or skill.
08:00:38 ER: But if it's just a trait, it's easy.
08:00:44 ER: on/off
08:01:15 ER: without, you pay 50% speed. with, you pay 33% speed.
08:01:24 syv: Damn it I really need to just burn through and FINISH one of the CQB systems.
08:01:47 syv: Or, like, encode all the various little bits of it well enough that I can just link them to people for ideas.
08:02:07 syv: I think I've probably written each element of it three times over by now.
08:02:53 syv: Speed reduction for aiming makes sense. Some accuracy reduction if you move at all, as well.
08:03:17 ER: just check which of the three versions you like best for each section, copypasta them together, update the language so it all matches. :P
08:03:20 syv: It's *really* hard to keep sights lined up while moving, especially if they're not holographic, and doubly especially if they're telescopic.
08:03:21 MidJag: action postyed
08:03:34 syv: It's not that simple, ER. ._.
08:03:42 ER: so simple.
08:04:27 syv: Part of it, and the most recent roadblock, is that I can't decide what roll system I want to use.
08:04:36 Devastator: You could do the writing trick.
08:04:53 Devastator: Remove the best idea you have from each system, and then take the best bits that remain.
08:05:10 syv: I don't want to just give up again and make a ton of roll charts, but I can't figure out a satisfactory roll system otherwise.
08:05:11 MidJag: Just give s straight 50/50 chance for everything syv. Simple ~
08:05:37 syv: ...And to complete ANY of the modules, I pretty much need to know what stats mean what, as far as chances.
08:05:43 Devastator: Tir wants not-a-force.
08:05:53 syv: EVERYTHING is so tightly tied together...
08:06:11 ER: Down to either 3d6 or 1d20 for me. 3d6 might be too... swingy for something more serious than tackel
08:06:16 syv: You're joking MJ, but I've legit considered a system that was basically like that.
08:06:42 Devastator: too unswingy.
08:06:53 MidJag: heh
08:07:16 ER: as in large bonuses swing you to always winning and large maluses swing you to always losing...
08:07:23 syv: I want diminishing returns with skill, uncapped skill, a way to handle multiple types of penalties simultaneously, and success grading. Maybe more than that, those are off the top of my head.
08:07:40 syv: 3d6 isn't good enough because it only really handles direct +/- modifiers well.
08:07:55 ER: Bonus/malus going higher than 3 in my 3d6 system is... uh unbalanced
08:08:58 syv: It also has a functionally capped skill system, since +15 will always be amazing. And even small changes are large, though I could simply increase the die size, since this is all going to be automated in the end.
08:09:03 ER: Denature had -2 to +3 and no situational modifiers. This kind of NEEDS situational modifiers.
08:10:05 syv: It frustrates me so much, I love the idea of a CQB game system too much to do a good job on it. >.<
08:10:36 syv: Magical Girls? I don't really care or have anu particular attachment to the concept, so I can just make a strong system for that without issue.
08:10:47 syv: Tactical combat with guns? Oh god.
08:10:51 Devastator: Heh.
08:10:58 Devastator: Always the hardest about what you love, eh?
08:11:04 syv: Yes.
08:14:08 syv: Complexity is also just plain bad, and I *cannot* make a CQB system that's not complex. The few times I've come close to making a complete system, I've tested the statistics and found GAPING holes in the balance, which were more or less systemic and unpatchable through simple changes. Which always results in scrapping and rebuilding everything.
08:14:18 syv: Damn my perfectionism.
08:15:18 MidJag: Perfection is the enemy of good as they say
08:15:48 syv: MidJag, you need to post in Tactihell again.
08:16:05 MidJag: oh?
08:16:08 syv: ER, can you roll initiative for us, so I know what Alexander can and can't do?
08:16:16 syv: Yes.
08:16:19 MidJag: ah right
08:16:56 ER: I've begun rolling, Alexander isn't reacting in time
08:17:16 ER: the other three ALL rolled 25 so let me make a tiebreaker...
08:17:21 MidJag: Have all of us been mispelling that guys name?
08:18:12 MidJag: I thought that was my shcitk :P
08:18:18 syv: "Reed" and "Reid" are homophones, I believe; the Reid Rakiit knows is different from Reed, but if he says his name aloud it'll only be confirming her beliefs, because she can't hear spelling.
08:18:36 Devastator: well, homophones in most dialects.
08:18:52 syv: ...Also, MJ, Rakiit can't aim if she moves any closer.
08:18:57 syv: She can only snapshot.
08:18:59 MidJag: Ah
08:19:10 ER: is that true?
08:19:15 MidJag: ...Damnit, ER can I change that?
08:19:15 ER: what makes that true?
08:19:26 ER: Oh yeah, min range.
08:19:34 syv: Her gun's min range is 4, and she's 4 tiles away where she is.
08:19:59 syv: If she moves closer, she'll have to snapshot, because she'd only be 2 tiles away.
08:20:08 MidJag: Ah.
08:20:32 ER: change what you like.
08:20:32 MidJag: How tall is Alexander?
08:20:42 syv: Also, I'm assuming min4 means "Must snapshot when 1-3 tiles away", since there's no min1 guns. But that might not be what you mean.
08:21:07 syv: Tall. I'mma say taller than 6 foot.
08:21:14 Devastator: can you still magdump snapshots?
08:21:21 syv: I don't know what's believable for height during the crusades though.
08:21:23 syv: Yes, Dev.
08:21:54 MidJag: Eh, height is variable. even back in the day being tall wasn't unheard of it was just much rarer
08:22:01 Devastator: Average height was smaller, but there were always big guys.
08:22:12 syv: You are the worst advice for height, MJ.
08:22:16 MidJag: heh
08:22:27 syv: I have literally heard you say 6' 0" is kinda short.
08:22:36 MidJag: It is!
08:23:00 syv: Point: Illustrated.
08:23:06 MidJag: 6' 2" is perfectlly average
08:23:17 ER: anyway, initiative posted.
08:23:52 Devastator: I'm not 6' 2"
08:23:56 ER: ...I was going to give Rakiit a little bonus for being the initiating actor. Ah well not changing it :P
08:24:01 Devastator: Also, short arms.
08:24:30 Devastator: Isn't tiebreaker the initiative bonus?
08:24:45 ER: Could use 3d6 for skill checks and 1d20 for attacks.
08:27:18 ER: Skills being immutable and more RTD-like, while attack rolls are pretty much DnD
08:28:27 MidJag: Also I feel like as a player it's a bad idea to end up killing two different players while gunning for one, on the other hand this is one the things Rakiit truelly hate's beyond all reason. sooooo, yeah overpen is the way to go.
08:28:46 ER: of course
08:28:54 ER: they won't stay dead anyways~
08:29:44 syv: Hey, if the guy charges, will Alexander get a reaction attack on him?
08:30:13 ER: I've decided on no reaction attacks until the start of your first turn.
08:30:20 ER: Till then your speed is 0.
08:30:26 syv: ...Why?
08:31:33 ER: Otherwise that speed is pretty much free because you'll get it all back by the time you can act.
08:31:51 syv: Eh, he's got shit poise so it shouldn't matter. Don't think that's a good change though. If I'd known about that mechanic I'd have initiated "combat" before opening the door. -.-
08:32:07 ER: Means that you get MORE reactions when you're surprised at the start of combat than you would in the middle of combat when you're moving around.
08:32:38 syv: I guess that's fair. It should only apply to people who are genuinely surprised, though.
08:33:21 syv: ...Which I guess by the reaction I gave would count, though Alexander *was* expecting people on the other side of the door, and aside from Rakiit's outburst was mentally prepared for violence.
08:34:19 ER: Initiative starts when people start trying to hurt each other and you can't start it otherwise. Initiative wasn't rolled at all in the scribe's "fight" with the bug because the bug just wanted him to go away and he didn't do anything threatening to the animal.
08:34:40 syv: Oddly nice bug demons.
08:35:02 ER: Demons will vary. These ones just act like animals.
08:35:16 ER: They're demons because they're animals native to hell.
08:35:58 MidJag: Well of course they are syv, it's all about the biology of hell.
08:37:06 MidJag: Like maybe these are simply peacuful insectovore
08:37:07 MidJag: s
08:37:17 ER: Also hell birds can freeze time.
08:37:18 MidJag: ...That are just fucking giant.
08:37:20 Devastator: "The snack room."
08:37:45 ER: Oh no, Demon bugs hunt large creatures like humans.
08:38:05 ER: But these are sentries guarding the nest, not hunters.
08:38:32 syv: https://randomc.net/image/Overlord%20II/Overlord%20II%20-%2011%20-%20Large%2020.jpg
08:38:38 syv: Proper bug demon behavior
08:38:45 syv is sad that he couldn't find a gif
08:38:48 MidJag: awww
08:39:05 ER: nom nom crunch nom
08:39:18 Devastator: Oh, in overlord, there's a room full of bugs.
08:39:19 Devastator: Just because.
08:39:28 syv: Unsurprised.
08:39:36 Devastator: hence the 'snack room.'
08:39:42 ER: but is there a snek room?
08:39:46 syv: There were 41 guildmembers, I'd expect a bunch of random bullshit.
08:39:49 Devastator: Entoma likes eating bugs when she can't get human.
08:39:54 Devastator: She can also summon bugs.
08:39:55 syv: ER, asking the real questions.
08:40:20 Devastator: no, the character from ONE PUNCH MAN doesn't have a room.
08:41:10 syv: https://snekdotblog.files.wordpress.com/2018/01/tumblr_p2j3z8kllq1u6d4nyo1_1280.jpg?w=1400
08:41:12 syv: Snek room.
08:41:23 MidJag: hello mr snek
08:41:33 ER: snek
08:41:56 Devastator: long snake is long.
08:42:00 ER: I wonder what Kit's going to do here.
08:42:03 syv: My sister used to have one of those. Far smaller though.
08:42:18 syv: Spend determination and flee, while whining at you.
08:42:21 ER: hopefully the thing where he doesn't die.
08:42:44 ER: He can't flee, he's passing out anyways.
08:43:11 syv: Oh. Well, he'll spend determination, whine, and then whine harder when he realizes that.
08:43:23 MidJag: What did he expect though?
08:43:28 ER: It says it in his turn. I hope he can read.
08:43:58 ER: He got really close to a good outcome here, got a 10 after bonuses...
08:44:02 syv: Man, *I* missed that. Kit has no chance. :P
08:44:19 syv: MidJag, he expected to get a free targeted statless attack item.
08:44:35 MidJag: ?
08:44:39 MidJag: A scalpel?
08:44:58 syv: ...The scribe. Kit's character.
08:45:05 MidJag: oh heh, whoops
08:45:14 ER: ER: ""
08:45:14 ER: The tome is okay, but it has the exact same effect on you as on anyone else, and said effect is inconsistent.
08:45:19 syv: The doctor's char just expected you to be nice and let him live.
08:45:29 ER: Kit: "*shrug* my madness is just as detrimental to me as anyone else, makes sense. I'll scribble up the Scribe shortly!"
08:46:07 syv: Because that's what players normally do. The starting party all loves each other at first glance because that facilitates the game, and people suck at writing.
08:47:01 ER: I dunno, maybe "inconsistant" is an understatement. But I feel like I made the book reasonably clear with that, the book's description, and what it did the first time he read.
08:47:16 Devastator: The doctor/cat conflict was also kinda up front.
08:47:29 ER: a 96 book roll would have been really good if he'd made his Resistance save. :P
08:48:06 MidJag: yes, this one is fairlly explicity conflict filled
08:48:25 syv: Yeah, it's fair.
08:48:40 syv: Kit just strikes me as an immature player who will whine if things don't work out.
08:49:56 Devastator: eh, we all do sometimes.
08:50:23 ER: oh wait, I'm still waiting on Kit for Vessel...
08:51:50 syv: I don't whine, Dev. I *manipulate people with irriatation*. Functionally identical, but one is intrinsically smarter than the other~
08:53:50 ER: okay, just remembered something that Dev said that I didn't understand :P
08:53:52 ER: [03:05] <Devastator> Tir wants not-a-force.
08:53:57 ER: explain?
08:54:12 Devastator: Tir submitted a character sheet for a Servant.
08:54:16 Devastator: hence not-a-Force.
08:54:25 ER: oh, okay.
08:54:42 ER: Literally not a force, then.
08:54:57 ER: Well, a few people have chosen that.
08:55:10 syv: Oh. Someone with silence. At least it's Tir. :\
08:55:22 ER: shh
08:55:30 ER: no shouting in the library
08:56:35 syv: Silence is by far the best PK power, and is the only real counter to my char.
08:56:37 MidJag: heh, force of library
08:56:48 syv: But Tir won't PK, so that's not a big worry.
08:57:12 ER: Ti is a force for good in the world
08:57:42 syv: Yes. Tir is wonderful. Joins too damn many games though.
08:58:56 syv: Oh. I just remembered. I won a bet with Dev, and now I get to write his sig, and he'll keep it for a little while. Need to check precisely how long.
08:59:01 MidJag: Tir is super nice.
08:59:04 syv: Any ideas for what I should put in there>
08:59:05 syv: ?
08:59:18 ER: Goblin.
09:00:03 MidJag: yes
09:00:13 syv: That's not nearly enough.
09:00:17 MidJag: oh, actually appementu
09:00:27 syv: I was given power, I mean to abuse it!
09:00:30 syv: Apemantus? Why?
09:01:00 ER: I am minimalist sometimes.
09:01:18 Devastator: ask RC.
09:02:33 MidJag: s
09:02:33 MidJag: hmm.
09:02:37 syv: MJ, why Apemantus?
09:03:19 MidJag: RC calls him that occasionally, he's a charecter from shakspeare who's a cynical misntrhaopic philospher.
09:03:53 syv: That explains the name, and simultaneously makes me certain that I won't use it.
09:03:59 MidJag: heh.
09:05:15 Devastator: too accurate?
09:05:27 syv: Too obscure and mundane.
09:05:57 MidJag: obscure and mundane are my two main descriptors. ~
09:06:26 Devastator: Also mine.
09:06:52 syv: ...Oh. I know what I'll do. Eheheheheh.
09:07:04 syv: At least part of it.
09:07:57 ER: okay, for the count I have four Servants, four Forces, and two Instruments.
09:08:04 ER: Seems about expected.
09:08:07 syv: Do I get the full number of characters, Dev?
09:09:39 ER: Servants weren't too unpopular. I might have a slight problem in that most of my servants seem to be the less experienced roleplayers.
09:10:13 Devastator: Dunno. My signature is blank.
09:10:21 Devastator: Except Tir.
09:10:23 ER: ...And the other is Ti, who might not know what's going on all the time.
09:10:33 syv: *Will not.
09:10:50 MidJag: ...Tiruin or Truean?
09:10:56 syv: Dev, there's a char limit for sigs. Everyone has the same limit, pretty sure. Can I use the maximum number of chars?
09:11:13 syv: I wonder, MJ. Which of them has an i in their name?
09:11:25 MidJag: Ah right
09:11:31 Devastator: I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.
09:11:40 syv: Just making sure~
09:12:02 Devastator: That said, I think I'm restricted to the old limit of 180 chars.
09:12:12 Devastator: although that might have been changed with the last forum software swap.
09:12:14 syv: Would you mind checking?
09:12:18 Devastator: ..probably has been, really.
09:12:32 ER: No Unerring Voice characters, which is a little disappointing. :P
09:12:52 syv: Angelic is more fun anyway.
09:13:20 Devastator: Nah, says 500 now.
09:13:35 syv: Wonderful. That's more than enough.
09:13:48 ER: Still have to wait on Kit for his everything.
09:14:05 ER: missing stats AND powers
09:17:50 syv: Simple answer: don't.
09:18:16 syv: If he wants in he has to actually make a sheet. He can just be jammed in with the rest two uodates into the game or something anyway.
09:30:09 ER: hm, Crazyabe was the one who formatted his character sheet exactly how it's convenient to me?
09:30:50 ER: Oh, he did leave the Additional Information: Optional
09:31:38 syv: I formatted mine the same, except for not using newlines between powers. -.-
09:32:03 syv: Interestingly, we both chose suitably weird names.
09:32:05 ER: hehe, easy enough to add newlines
09:32:33 syv: I think mine's better though. More adjacent consonants.
09:32:35 ER: interesting that you didn't newline powers, as that's how you format PS powers
09:33:49 syv: Did it on a phone
09:33:59 ER: i see
09:34:14 ER: ...is it hard to hit enter on your phone?
09:35:00 syv: No, but it has very limited vertical height while in landscape mode, with lots of horizontal height.
09:35:42 ER: k
09:36:04 syv: ...horizontal width.
09:36:25 ER: Nobody took divine weaponry :(
09:39:26 syv: It's more fun to BE the weapon.
09:40:13 ER: then why didn't you take Instrument~
09:40:53 syv: Because Instruments don't have enough power points.
09:41:25 ER: They have one less! :P
09:41:36 MidJag: night
09:41:40 MidJag has left #einsteinianroulette
09:41:41 ER: <3
09:43:51 syv: I very specifically needed eight, and no more.
10:07:38 ER: [here we go]
10:08:15 ER: https://youtu.be/7VvkXA6xpqI
10:08:25 ER: Posted Vessel
10:14:40 syv: I was expecting eldritch warping on that voice clip. :(
10:15:13 ER: you'll have to find that on your own if you want it...
10:16:43 syv: Action posted.
10:17:12 ER: Yeah, really not sure what Chariot is attempting to accomplish.
10:19:03 ER: What's that, dodge and then charge through the plate armored crusader?
10:19:39 ER: Or get out of the way and then don't do shit because he's well outside melee range
10:20:28 syv: He's trying to sidestep the bullet, then charge forward to kill her.
10:21:02 syv: Mechanically this would be interpreted as "Dodge Rakiit, then move adjacent to her, then attack her."
10:22:08 ER: That definately means he's getting the no cover malus to dodge
10:22:26 syv: huh, he has +0 agility. He might not trip over his own feet. -2 poise, though.
10:23:18 syv: From earliee PMs:
10:23:20 syv: (syv) I doubt the greek guy will die though.  I think he'll dodge.
10:23:20 syv: (MidJag) Hopefully
10:23:21 syv: (syv) He literally just had the guy say that he's abandoned all the gods.
10:23:21 syv: (syv) And that he'd done terrible things.
10:23:21 syv: (syv) This isn't the man to take a bullet for.
10:23:49 syv: But no, suicidal idiocy is the order of the day.
10:23:55 ER: oh well
10:24:50 ER: also that random-ass linebreak though :P
10:25:49 ER: now let's see him roll perfectly and do exactly what he said he would
10:39:18 ER: Gotta keep things moving in this game, as in combat each of my posts is pretty much just going to be for one player.
10:43:38 syv: Aww, poor guy. I'd have at least had him pratfall and go prone accidentally.
10:44:24 syv: At least we've got set actions for 2/3 remaining people this round. Unless Reed actually manages to do something.
10:45:08 ER: Not sure what's he's actually capable of doing right now, but we'll see...
10:45:10 syv: ...What was the tiebreaker that you used, anyway? Another set of rolls?
10:45:19 ER: just some d6 rolls
10:45:28 syv: If I were him it would be "hide in a corner and beg for mercy"
10:45:47 syv: If he is him, I have a feeling it will be somewhat more suicidal.
10:46:48 ER: the proper in-character response is to flick her off and then attempt some mad science.
10:47:15 syv: Yes. Like I said, suicidal.
10:47:26 ER: Unfortunately for him there's not a lot of sciencable items nearby
10:52:06 syv: TACTICAL BONE THROW.
10:52:22 syv: IT'S SCIENCE
10:53:15 ER: loot bone, loot sword dude's blood, put into science-augmented medkit, hopefully make acid?
10:53:53 ER: Some kind of absolute bullshit science was how I was going to have them escape if you hadn't showed up :P
10:59:55 syv: Yeah, big lot of good rescuing them did.
11:00:13 syv: Now Rakiit's gonna get a double kill with her first shot. -.-
11:01:05 ER: "Well, what was making the noise?" "Oh, two guys. We shot them." "Okay here's your payment."
11:02:22 syv: Alexander is quickly coming to believe that everyone here except for him is destined for Hell, just because of how violent they are.
11:02:29 syv: At this rate he
11:02:47 syv: 's going to end up deciding that he should just kill people on sight.
11:02:58 ER: He would be mostly right.
11:03:44 syv: And yet so wrong at the same time.
11:04:21 ER: https://youtu.be/ZUhAcLlyuvk?t=6
11:07:21 syv: Good quote.
11:07:36 ER: GOOD PEOPLE. DON'T END UP HERE.
11:07:46 syv: Also, appropriate, since I'm currently reading a novel about an insane, out of control AI.
11:07:48 ER: Yeah, I remembered that one...
11:08:20 ER: Portal was just about one of the first PC games I played.
11:08:28 ER: Certainly the first steam game I played
11:09:02 syv: Mm. Certainly not the first console game I played. Nor even the first; first real one was Halo: CE, on PC.
11:09:27 syv: I think the first PC game for me was one of the Age of Empires games?
11:09:43 ER: I got it free when Steam was ported to MacOS :P
11:09:47 syv: Wait. No. Halo CE, I just fucking said that.
11:10:12 syv: You had a Mac? Heresy!
11:10:20 ER: actual first PC games I've played were all flash games. couldn't say which was "first"
11:11:21 ER: My dad had a mac for a long time and my own first computer was a mac inherited from my sister.
11:11:53 ER: After than an old windows box, then my current desktop.
11:12:56 syv: I'm 90% sure m6 first was legitimately Halo. My Dad got it, and I wanted to play after watching him, and at the time I don't think I'd even touched the computer. Pretty sure it was essentially just his office computer at the time.
11:13:26 syv: God that was a long time ago.
11:13:47 syv: I found it *terrifying*, but also awesome.
11:13:56 ER: My first game period might have been some flash game. Honestly don't remember.
11:14:27 ER: That or like. Myst.
11:15:33 syv: Ugh, Myst. I think I got that for, like, the DS or some other handheld. I never got off the first island.
11:15:39 ER: must have been some computer game, because I was given videogame consoles because I asked for them because I knew that I liked videogames.
11:16:16 ER: I really liked Riven, but they're not the sort of game that you ever finish :P
11:16:16 syv: Oh my god I could look up a full playthrough of Myst now!
11:16:22 ER: you could.
11:16:37 ER: or you could download it and see if you've gotten smarter~
11:16:55 syv: I remember spending so much time trying to figure out WHAT THE HELL I SUPPOSED TO DO, and never succeeding. I wanted so bad to know, but didn't even know what the internet was.
11:17:22 syv: ...Maybe.
11:17:46 ER: https://youtu.be/buM-y61RkIo
11:18:22 ER: mm, them gorgeous graphics <3
11:33:12 ER: https://youtu.be/buM-y61RkIo?t=940 good tram rides :P
11:38:26 ER: god those games are *weird*
11:44:45 ER: ...oh, of course now I know what the book does on a roll of 100 ;P
11:50:45 syv: What?
11:51:15 ER: you know, books that transport you to other worlds and all
11:53:13 syv: Oh, duh.
11:53:24 syv: That'll be exciting, if it ever happens.
12:26:03 syv: Night.
12:26:10 ER: <3
12:26:15 ER: morning~

17:04:58 midnightjaguar: First ER. Go to sleep. Second can I move an re aim at the doc?
17:05:59 ER: No, because to move to a place where you could aim at him would require moving within the LMG's min range.
17:06:03 ER: Also no.
17:06:13 midnightjaguar: Damnit
17:07:25 midnightjaguar: Also huh. The doc has better iniative then me. Did not know that
17:07:56 ER: yeah, both of the idiots do, thanks to their ungodly focus
17:08:13 midnightjaguar: I see
17:08:33 midnightjaguar: Do I get a bonus with claws?
17:09:21 ER: How do you mean?
17:09:41 midnightjaguar: It says lethal. How does that affect the damage done?
17:10:01 ER: It's lethal
17:10:08 ER: it kills things that it hits.
17:10:52 ER: This game has one kind of lethal damage, the only difference is what armor it can penetrate and how painful it is if you survive.
17:11:35 midnightjaguar: I see.
17:12:37 ER: So your claws will deal lethal damage to anyone no wearing a kevlar vest or better, and if they're wearing that armor or survive the lethal damage they'll lose 4 focus to pain.
17:12:55 midnightjaguar: I see.
17:13:08 midnightjaguar: And you have to do more lethal damage then what to kill them?
17:14:21 ER: When someone takes lethal damage they roll a 1d6 and if they don't roll a 6 they die. After seeing what the result is they can choose to spend Determination to add to that roll and not die.
17:14:45 ER: IE if someone rolls a 3 they can spend 3 Determination to bring that up to 6 and survive.
17:15:01 midnightjaguar: Ah.
17:20:25 midnightjaguar: Can I move down one space and get a bead on him?
17:21:34 ER: No, that angle should give him enough room to stay out of los
17:21:51 midnightjaguar: Blast
17:22:04 ER: also the door is slightly in the way I guess :P
17:22:17 midnightjaguar: Probably.
17:22:33 midnightjaguar: If I go into Meele can I hit him before deterius hits me?
17:23:02 midnightjaguar: Or is that not how this system works?
17:23:24 ER: Nah, and you'd have to displace Demitri as well. Can't attack at that diagonal
17:24:22 midnightjaguar: Can I Aim. Shoot and then move and shoot again?
17:25:00 ER: No, Aim ends your turn.
17:25:09 midnightjaguar: Ah

17:52:25 ER: you ever played it?
17:53:24 midnightjaguar: Nope
17:53:41 ER: welp
