01:08:38 Piecewise: Finished a DIG post, gonna go check the paint on my robot, then maybe try to get culdcept working. You guys watching anime tonight?
01:08:51 MidJag: maybe. I dunno what I'm doing tonight.
01:09:41 ER: apparently I like anime or something
01:16:40 Piecewise: anyone here ever play culdcept?
01:17:30 MidJag: culdcept? I have never heard of culdcept.
01:36:36 Piecewise: Its actually a series
01:36:42 Piecewise: been going on since the sega saturn
01:36:51 Piecewise: most recently on 3ds
01:37:20 MidJag: Then I'm sure
dev's heard of it.
01:54:08 Piecewise: lets see if I can get it to work
02:00:50 ER: oh,
Piecewise. In MOOK you seem to have confused the omni eye with bionic eyes
02:01:16 ER: NAV's character has a cheap disposable camera, not robot eyes
02:01:39 Piecewise: someone got the robot eyes though right?
02:02:27 MidJag: Also
ER update tachhell
02:03:14 ER: Ah yes, the other person with bionic eyes is the redshirt munchkin
02:04:05 Piecewise: I have changed 1 word, fixing everything
02:04:52 ER: it does help explain why he'd want to do that, though :P
02:05:29 ER: ah, the FF7 victory fanfare
02:06:12 ER: I should keep that bookmarked so that I can link it at appropriate and/or sarcastic times
02:08:27 Piecewise: added a reaction on discord for it
03:08:55 Piecewise: Seems a pretty interesting game so far
03:09:06 Piecewise: I need to go through all these old ps2 games
03:09:10 Piecewise: see what there is to see
03:29:06 Piecewise: Lets crack open some of these old magazines and see if theres anything good in here
04:25:04 Devastator: no never heard of culdcept. Never had a Saturn.
04:26:32 Piecewise: I was playing it on ps2
04:26:47 Devastator: What kind of game is it?
04:27:04 Piecewise: playing a game on steam called textorcist a typing/bullet hell game about killing demons as a exorcist pretty neat
04:27:15 Piecewise: its a sort of boardgame/cardgame thing, culdcept is
04:27:42 Piecewise: you go around a board, controlling territory and fighting your opponent's monsters and such
04:27:58 Piecewise: some very silly illustrations
04:29:06 Devastator: Heh, someone beat Spuds to the draw.
04:29:38 Devastator: well, that looks lovely.
04:30:02 Devastator: Dammit, now the medic is going to take the credit.
04:31:16 Piecewise: ventilate the medics
04:32:05 Devastator: Nah. Next thing we need to do is secure the entryway room so we can close the lab doors again.
04:32:15 Devastator: I don't want this thing getting out.
04:32:38 MidJag: Are we going to see the return of mesk the kickboxing doc
04:33:10 Piecewise: the night is young
mj
04:34:50 Devastator: well, we have pistolero doc.
04:35:39 Devastator: ..Wow, 12 mana.
RC really was ripping me the fuck off.

04:50:19 Devastator: On the other hand, if it ends up being the wrong move, I now have a fall guy.
05:06:45 Piecewise_: always a good thing
05:07:28 Devastator: Is it true that the card for the 'team leader' role in paranoia was a bullseye?
05:07:47 Devastator: Oh, and posted the magic-happy Cabal orders. Might finally start doing permanent buffs.
05:08:03 Devastator: which means opportunity for sparkles.
05:10:05 Devastator: (If they crit-succeed or fail, oh well, that just means next time will be sparkles. ;-p)
05:17:34 Piecewise_: the other dark souls 3 dlc is on sale.
05:17:46 Devastator: I don't think I finished the first one.
05:18:33 Devastator: I want to do a birdgame turn this weekend.
05:34:21 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:35:03 ER: welp, hadn't had a proper shower in a while
05:35:22 ER: makes me feel a lot better.
05:35:31 Devastator: So.. how are you liking overlord,
MJ?
05:35:41 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:38:01 ER: ah, well, how are you gentlemen tonight?
05:38:26 MidJag: Pretty good, playing Apex with my roommate.
05:50:41 ER: followup question if you're enjoying it: would you be willing to play it with me if I downloaded it?
05:56:22 ER: well, it's at least good enough to distract him from IRC:I
05:58:41 Piecewise_: Some people hate apex because it killed titanfall 3
05:58:44 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:59:00 ER: I don't think it "killed" Titanfall 3.
05:59:58 ER: specially as that one guy said there's more Titanfall stuff coming this year. Which could be a spinoff FPS game or it could be a mobile trading card game, but there's room for optimism.
06:00:54 syv: Isn't Titanfall an FPS already?
06:00:55 ER: happy saturday morning,
syv!
06:01:19 ER: By "FPS spinoff" I mean "Titanfall 3 in all but name"
06:01:24 syv: How can it be happy? Tachell won't update. ._.
06:01:31 ER: on the other end of the scale, free to play card game
06:01:53 ER: Tachel will update sometime.
06:01:55 Piecewise_: Well it killed titan fall in that instead of making titan fall 3 they made apex
06:02:04 Piecewise_: yet another battle royale game
06:02:09 Devastator: That's a way to kill a game.
06:02:58 ER: Making something else before making a sequel is not the same as killing the sequel
06:03:43 syv: Who cares, anyway? Titanfall was just yet another FPS arena, with a special gimmick. Apex is just another Battle Royale, with a couple special gimmicks.
06:03:55 ER: Bloodborne didn't kill Dark Souls 3 just because they put resources into it which could have went to DS3
06:03:56 syv: It's exactly what the company's already known for, in that sense.
06:04:09 syv: Yeah, Bloodborne killed Dark Souls 2. -.-
06:04:39 syv: It could've been much better, though.
06:05:10 ER: You could say that BB broke DS2's kneecaps. :P
06:05:16 syv: Though I suppose the few good things about the game wouldn't have existed if it weren't for BB, since they came with all the bad.
06:05:39 ER: But you couldn't say they same of Apex and TF3, because they're not even working on TF3 at the moment
06:05:42 syv: Really, if it weren't for BB, DaS 2 would prolly just be what DaS 3 already is.
06:05:46 Piecewise_: I'm only telling you what I hear
06:05:55 Piecewise_: I've never played any of these and I don't care about them
06:06:06 syv: Yes, the uninvited voice of /v/
06:06:17 ER: you should listen to the people I get opinions from, they're much smarter~
06:06:30 Piecewise_: BB killed all souls games by being better than them~
06:06:56 syv: And it's FUCKING CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE. >.<
06:07:16 ER: damn you sony! damn you to heeeeeeeeeell!
06:07:18 Piecewise_: So is demon souls; the only really imaginative of the souls series
06:07:55 Piecewise_: Sekiro comes out on pc thankfully
06:08:01 ER: DS prepare to die edition was the first souls game
06:08:21 Piecewise_: shrine of storms best souls level
06:08:48 syv: ...Huh, at least one PS3 emulator exists, apparently.
06:09:05 Piecewise_: I'm assuming its in a rather poor state currently
06:10:43 Piecewise_: sadly 2 has tons of content
06:11:07 syv: I'm still having fun with 1 and 2 though.
06:11:20 Piecewise_: you're having fake fun
06:11:30 Piecewise_: you're doing it wrong
06:11:41 Piecewise_: Trust me, my dad works at nintendo
06:11:47 ER: only Sekiro can be real fun from now on
06:11:55 syv: I've been working on 100%ing Remastered, and then I was gonna try and get back into PvP. 3's PvP is just eternal rolling, why would I want that?
06:12:21 Piecewise_:
sy, its only eternal rolling if your bad at roll catching
06:12:34 Piecewise_: if someone just rolls constantly you can murder them with ease
06:12:57 Piecewise_: I can roll catch with a great club
06:13:31 ER: where's our powerstancing, huh?
06:13:48 Piecewise_: Their rolling r1 got nerfed a while back
06:14:10 syv: What do kicks do to shields?
06:15:01 Piecewise_: large amount of stamina loss, basically always knock it open if you're wearing one of two rings (horse or knight slayer)
06:15:30 Piecewise_: Doorshields are a fun weapon by the way
06:16:06 Piecewise_: you wear heavy armor and get hit mid swing. Poise in ds3 is like superarmor on an attack rather than constantly
06:16:24 Piecewise_: Alternatively, there are weapons that give you poise as a special move
06:17:02 ER: there are weapon arts which give you real poise, actually
06:17:26 Piecewise_: yeah. When they're active you basically can't get staggered or stopped
06:17:37 ER: on the caestus and some spears and stuff, activate it and you get a temporary buff
06:17:58 Piecewise_: I used it from a mace and wrecked people good
06:18:19 Piecewise_: because maces have a large forward lunge on the second swing
06:18:26 syv: Oh. Huh. Game still has instant backstabs, right? Don't those kinda get abused with those abilities?
06:18:34 Piecewise_: buff, take hit, trade two or three hits in return
06:19:09 Piecewise_: Blackknight great sword has the same buff. I basically never lost in my Black knight cosplay build
06:19:10 ER: Sekiro will have much better multiplayer~
06:19:27 Piecewise_: the best multiplayer is none at all
06:19:39 MidJag: And yes
ER I would be willing to play it with you
06:19:43 syv: Wasn't Sekiro multiplayer something weird, with invaders possessing mooks?
06:19:56 ER: nah, pretty sure there's none of that
06:20:05 Piecewise_: sekiro is entirely single player
06:20:12 ER: Doom Eternal has possessing mooks though, right?
06:20:32 Piecewise_: much to the wailing of youtube idiots who make money on their epic pvp montages
06:20:57 Piecewise_: and kids who never played a non souls fromsoft game
06:20:58 ER: gonna have to git gud at the actual game~
06:21:15 syv: I think they care about the e-fame more than their hundred dollar checks.
06:21:19 Piecewise_: WHERE ARE MY SUMMONS TO FUCKING CARRY ME!
06:21:21 ER: are there any non souls fromsoft games on steam?
06:21:29 Piecewise_: POINT DOWN ON MIYAZAKI!
06:21:53 ER: metal wolf chaos either came out recently or is coming soon for stream
06:22:26 Piecewise_: but no, they're all souls games on steam
06:22:36 Piecewise_: makes sense, fromsoft was never a pc publishing group
06:22:41 ER: I get the feeling that Dark Souls may have been their literal first PC release?
06:23:33 Piecewise_: nothing on pc until souls
06:24:42 ER: yeah, I'd like to play their games, but gotta get into emulatoin for that
06:24:43 Piecewise_: Ninja blade was the first on windows
06:25:24 syv:
MidJag, what? You've barely even played DaS 1, how do you have questions which need to be explained?
06:25:40 ER: they've really made a fuckton of games, haven't they?
06:26:01 MidJag: It just explains the keyboard difficulty.
06:26:01 Piecewise_: Most of them I've played are good
06:26:07 ER: "Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village DX"
06:26:37 syv: I think all of them that I've played are good, but most of everything is shit.
06:26:53 Piecewise_: Armored core, 3d dot hero, king's field, shadow tower, otogi, all good
06:27:33 syv: ...I've played a little Armored Core. Not much. Long ago, I think I had assumed it was related to Mechwarrior somehow, and was sorely disappointed.
06:27:35 Piecewise_: tenchu games good too
06:27:55 Piecewise_: no armored core is hard core go fast or die mech
06:28:24 Piecewise_: oh dear they made the Kinect steel battalion game
06:28:28 MJ: armored core? Is that the one that's incredibly complicated?
06:28:40 MJ: or was that steel Battalion?
06:29:00 syv: I still have one of the original's absurd controllers, though it's probably dead and nonfunctional by now.
06:29:00 Piecewise_: Steel battalion original was a very "realistic" sim known for its massive controller
06:29:04 ER: they made that one steel battalion game which used the Kinect
06:29:05 Piecewise_: very interesting idea
06:29:16 Piecewise_: the kinect one...was not that
06:29:18 ER: cool idea but the review I read of it said that it didn't work
06:29:32 syv: I keep meaning to try and hook it up to my computer so I can try to play DaS with it, but eternally procrastinate.
06:29:41 ER: would be a cool idea to revisit with VR maybe
06:29:55 syv: ...Think it's been done, actually.
06:30:04 Piecewise_: yeah, vr would handle it better I think
06:30:07 syv: From what I saw the result was disappointing.
06:30:15 ER: Kinect is just worse VR really
06:30:23 Piecewise_: Chromehounds was a great mech game though
06:31:13 ER: they have a lot of mech games, huh?
06:31:41 MJ: Also I looked up that controller and it's hilarious
06:31:42 ER: "Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor was widely panned by critics for being nearly unplayable due to the inability of the Kinect to accurately read the player's movements."
06:32:00 Piecewise_: unfortunate because the idea was neat
06:32:10 Piecewise_: basically tank commander sim but you're in a mech
06:33:58 Piecewise_: and of the kinect version
06:35:09 Devastator: Of course, if there ever were real mechs, it'd probably be half voice controls, half helmet and eyelook functionality, and half switches to get physicality and avoid accidental activations.
06:35:38 MJ: or by then you might be able to neural link
06:35:43 Devastator: That's a serious controller.
06:35:44 ER: real mechs? probably remote drones?
06:35:50 Devastator: remote drones exist.
06:35:55 Devastator: They have keyboards and joysticks.
06:36:58 ER: that or something person sized which exists to get very heavy armor into tight or indoors spaces
06:37:14 Devastator: That's just a tank drone.
06:38:08 Devastator: You just knock the upper floors down.
06:38:56 Devastator: Those stairs go down.
06:39:15 ER: What if it's not something you want to knock down?
06:39:27 ER: Because surely in that case you'd just rocket it
06:39:41 Devastator: "Eat your heart out Kinect. Look at that controller in all it's glory and pout in the corner like the useless device you are."
06:39:49 Devastator: Someone goes in with a winch. ;-p
06:40:30 Devastator: oh man, that game looks ridiculous.
06:40:40 ER: I do think that an exoskeleton with vehicle-level armor could have a use.
06:40:44 Devastator: I see what they mean by an impressive idea.
06:40:53 Devastator: but there are maybe 500 people in the world who would play that.
06:40:59 ER: MAYBE something like a tank with spider legs could have a use as well
06:41:12 Devastator: The world needs Briefcase tank.
06:41:31 ER: that might be difficult to pull off under realistic physics.
06:42:21 ER: IE you're more likely to exist in a universe where bipedal tanks are practical than one where a tank fits in a briefcase. ;P
06:42:23 Devastator: I think briefcase tank gets upgraded into a briefcase spider tank.
06:42:40 Devastator: ..You did read ABG, didn't you?
06:42:45 Devastator: That's what the cultists do to it.
06:42:52 syv: Yes, but it was awhile ago and I forgot most of it.
06:43:01 syv: It wasn't very memorable TBH.
06:43:16 Devastator: I don't understand how someone can forget briefcase spider tank.
06:43:57 Devastator: ..God,
PW needs to read that..
06:45:13 Devastator: "You didn't think that a game this hardcore was going to give you a pause?"
06:45:36 ER: why am I doing things other than updating tachel? I should probably do that
06:46:28 Devastator:
MJ needs another chance to issue tail emotes. ;-p
06:47:07 ER:
MJ, remember to emote with your tail
06:49:34 ER: hey, I see someone in RTD is trying to start two games at once. :P
06:50:04 ER: oh yeah,
MJ do you have claws?
06:50:22 syv: Ears should be easy for you, since cats emote with ears about the same as solid-eared dogs, except without ever being submissive.
06:50:51 syv: Because cats are psychologically incapable of realizing that other beings rank above them.
06:50:52 ER: Except when faced with a stronger cat, you mean? ;P
06:51:18 syv: "Faced with a stronger cat" means "Roll over so that five of your six ends are pointy and available"
06:51:36 ER: I think they're capable of realizing it, just not willing to accept it
06:51:54 ER: which leads to more violence than with dogs
06:52:08 syv: Nah, incapable. Cats don't see anything as ranking above them, just varying levels of threatening versus friendly.
06:52:12 Devastator: aren't there floppy eared cats too?
06:52:18 ER: because every day they get up and ask themselves "okay, am I strongest one *now*?"
06:52:39 syv: Not really. There's folds, which I've never had, but I'm pretty sure their ears are also rigid. They're just bent.
06:53:19 syv: Because housecats never evolved to have a robust understanding of social relations.
06:54:46 MJ: Cat girl probably has claws.
06:56:03 Devastator: should we finish off season 2?
06:56:07 Devastator: or does
ER want to update tachell?
06:56:16 syv: Cat girl obviously has claws because if you have claws you have a free weightless weapons. :P
06:56:25 syv:
ER wants to update Tachell.
06:56:57 Devastator: no more overlord until tachell updates?
06:57:10 MJ: Also she's like bread for a military experiment she's tottally got claws
06:57:14 ER: Having given
syv some very nice armor and a holy symbol, and having given Kit a magic book, I might let Rakiit have some advantages.
06:57:34 Devastator: Just get better free weightless weapons every time you level.
06:57:44 syv: She's bread for the military?
06:57:54 ER: what is this "leveling" you speak of,
Dev?
06:57:57 MJ: Also
ER what skill lets you stick limbs onto others?
06:57:57 Devastator: plant-based catgirl.
06:58:10 MJ: Spelling is hard is all I have to say
06:59:08 ER: Extraction to aquire a usable body part, Medical to make a clean amputation if nessesary.
06:59:24 ER: But attaching itself is automatic success if you have the parts.
06:59:44 Devastator: so is everyone going to have like 11 legs at the end of the game?
07:00:16 ER: So, if a demon slices your arm off in combat, and then you get lucky and slice its arm off cleanly in combat... you know what to do.
07:00:56 ER: Attaching both might require some additional maiming.
07:01:06 syv: Can we heal ourselves while remaining human by chopping pieces off the cultist?
07:01:18 Devastator: You can't just shove in more arms?
07:01:34 ER: It does work with humans parts, yes.
07:02:29 Devastator: I think that was a
PW game that was about shoving in additonal bones.
07:02:41 ER: It needs an open wound to attach. You could cram two arms into the same stump, but I'm not likely to give you anything good for that akward setup
07:03:18 syv:
PW did make a skeletal game in a similar vein to his earlier shots at Oroboropolis.
07:03:19 Devastator: Oh, so you need to stab yourself somewhere else to shove in a third limb?
07:03:44 syv: IIRC it was the best balanced version of Oro, partially because it had virtually nothing in it. :\
07:16:54 ER: Hmm. So the highest medical skill in this group is Rakiit, with a +0
07:18:19 syv: Yeah, cultist likely won't do too well.
07:19:03 syv: Alexander's an armored tank, though, and Rakiit's a dodgetank, so we hopefully won't be *needing* too much healing.
07:19:35 ER: Scribe's also the only one with Extraction.
07:20:20 syv: Man, he's got -2 melee *and* -2 accuracy.
07:20:34 Devastator: yeah, that's self-destruct zone.
07:20:53 Devastator: What's the cultist good at?
07:21:03 ER: He's banking on that book working, I guess. Not the best call.
07:21:18 Devastator: well.. could just be support if the other two are good at attacking.
07:21:27 syv: It's not the *worst*, really, since guns are autohit if your enemy can't dodge... but that means you do have to rely on guns.
07:21:47 Devastator: I mean guns are weapons.
07:22:12 syv: Also, +0 agility, next to +0 poise, which is just downright foolish. +2 resistance too, when he has no armor and 7 focus.
07:23:05 syv: So he's really good at staying conscious while he bleeds to death, but has almost no method of preventing himself from bleeding to death.
07:23:23 syv: Only 5 Determination, which is a limited pool that drains quite fast.
07:23:37 ER: Maybe Resistance to resist bookshit?
07:25:06 syv: Hmm. Hope not. Alexander's got +3, which is appropriate since he'd be the most resistant to [kittens], but then Rakiit has -2... which I guess is extremely appropriate for [kittens]
07:25:39 syv: Still, an untargeted AoE which our only ranged unit is vulnerable to does not bode well.
07:26:06 ER: Cat Ears and Whiskers (+2 Perception)
07:26:30 ER: she STILL has worse perception than the two of you
07:26:41 Devastator: too quick, too little time to see.
07:27:07 MJ: She was raised on a diet of massive amounts of combat drugs.
07:27:18 MJ: She's a touch distractible.
07:27:46 Devastator: "I need to keep a careful eye out."
07:27:52 syv: Man wearing full plate armor, and the insane babbling cultist, both still have more sense than the ADD catgirl.
07:27:53 ER: you know that combat drugs require focus to work well, right? :P
07:28:20 syv: I may have forgotten about that when advising
MJ on stats >.>
07:28:47 ER: Focus might be the most important stat, really.
07:28:57 MJ: ADD is either really unperceptive or extremly perceptive. I guess she got the really unperceptive one
07:29:03 syv: Though actually, if she uses stimulants, she gets +3 focus, and that'd give plenty of room to play around with other drugs.
07:29:26 ER: Though you CAN use Determination as an anything-booster. Expensive.
07:30:01 ER: better stim up so that I can give myself other drugs
07:30:02 MJ: Does clay cauess skill advancment?
07:30:24 Devastator: Yeah, just use stimulants first, and then something else.
07:30:29 Devastator: Or just use all the stims.
07:30:32 ER: skill advancement is only provided by demon parts or other special things
07:30:44 syv: You really did a good job on making every stat and skill useful. Everything's tied together, nothing's really ignorable. Stamina is the closest, which is impressive considering how useful it can be.
07:31:19 MJ: Also yes or no on replacing your head
07:31:30 ER: it might be... painful. and likely to be fatal if you're not very fast
07:32:18 ER: You can replace parts of your head. If you cut the whole thing off, you stay in the head and then probably die.
07:32:41 syv: Her name is a corruption of Rocket Amphetamines. She is the fastest.
07:33:06 Devastator: so do it in two pieces?
07:33:37 syv: Can I replace my brain with a demon's brain?
07:33:59 MJ: Can I replace organs with other peoples?
07:34:14 syv: Can I replace organs with people?
07:34:53 ER: Look, Clay can glue lots of stuff to lots of stuff, let's not get too worked up~
07:35:47 ER: If you want to cut a hole into your chest, remove your lungs, then jam a headless corpse in there, neck-first, it'll "work"
07:36:04 syv: I want some story to involve a lich giant who's enslaved a bunch of gnomes or fairies or something, and has put them to work inside the giant's rotting body, maintaining and repairing their undead flesh and organs.
07:36:19 ER: I mean, provided that you're a skilled enough medic to not die in the process, but we all make mistakes
07:36:54 MJ: eh, rapid lung removal can't be thaaaaaaaaaatttt hard.~
07:37:34 syv: I wish I had been playing a bit more unhinged of a character in the techell test, so I could've chopped of my hand and then grafted one of the people's severed heads onto my wrist in an effort to read their mihd.
07:38:16 MJ: Well we know what
syv's getting arrested for.
07:38:32 Devastator: ..you aren't unhinged enough yet?
07:38:39 ER: if you have -2 med, rather than rolling I'll make you upload a video of you attempting the procedure in surgeon simulator~
07:38:48 syv: No, cutting off my own hand would be too painful.
07:39:03 Devastator: What if you pull it off?
07:39:14 MJ: Heh, IIRC I once streamed surgeon simulator
07:39:26 syv: Considering success in SS does not result in a living patient, I doubt it.
07:40:03 syv: Speedruns of the game are basically just a frantic excavation of the patient's chest cavity.
07:40:15 ER: because I figure that Amph might be claustrophobic
07:40:51 Devastator: cats are claustrophobic?
07:41:00 Devastator: or escaped lab patients are claustrophobic?
07:41:30 Devastator: (I'm sure some are, but..)
07:42:31 MJ: I can't tell if escaped lab paitents would agrophobic or claustrophobic
07:42:54 syv: Agoraphobic likely, plus it's more fun.
07:43:52 MJ: But their main desire is to get out said clautrophobic space. Especially the escaped ones y
07:44:32 syv: I've just always found agoraphobic characters more interesting.
07:45:16 ER: oh yes I like that I put this on my playlist
07:45:20 MJ: Is that just because you grew up in a swamp?
07:45:48 MJ: And thus can't imagine a place not populated by at least one alligator
07:46:24 syv: Knee deep water everywhere means a lot less underbrush.
07:47:26 ER: I'm a little disappointed that "If you leave your guard down, paralyzed" isn't "can you believe I'm god-damn paralized" as I originally heard
07:49:56 syv: Oh wow, I actually looked up the WR speedrun of Surgeon Sim, he oneshots the entire ribcage with the hammer.
07:53:56 syv: Actually kinda disappointing otherwise.
07:55:55 Devastator: Youtube suggested a compliation of all those absurd reload animation videos.
08:02:39 Devastator: no credit, of course.
08:07:07 ER: I'll probably want to do some more background work before next update though.......
08:08:54 ER: need stats for mister red and mister yellow in case you monsters decide to attack them ;-;
08:09:13 Devastator: ..what the hell kind of business involves customers arriving via tiny hatchway?
08:09:33 MJ: Bert and ernie are my names for them
08:09:35 Devastator: Are these the gnomes?
08:10:09 ER: I mean, who WOULD expect a customer to arrive through the tiny passageway?
08:10:35 ER: Mister Yellow expects it, of course
08:11:12 Devastator: well, random dungeon shopkeeps.
08:11:43 ER: I didn't roll for anything in this dungeon, btw
08:12:25 ER: I just decided that there would be a tiny passageway, then decided that there would be a hatch at the end, then decided that there would be shopkeepers behind the hatch.
08:13:59 Devastator: now that update has happened.
08:16:49 MJ: huh, alwyas thought he was more hours behind me
08:17:10 ER: I'm naming them Hart and Hort because I'm ruler of this universe and nobody can stop me
08:17:47 Devastator: anyway, lets do it fast then, before
MJ turns into a pumpkin.
08:18:25 ER: me and
syv have been pumpkins for a long time, so no need to worry about us~
08:20:28 Devastator: Bow, even when in disguise.
08:20:42 MJ: ...Is that his name in reverse?
08:21:11 Devastator: Apparently he didn't take ranks in bluff.
08:21:25 Devastator: Although it's nice passing info around when in disguise.
08:21:35 Devastator: "Do you want me to hit you?" "Yeah."
08:22:04 syv: Welp. Another harem member.
08:22:12 Devastator: Nah, this one is only into humans.
08:22:14 MJ: So Ainz is just naturally attractive to undead?
08:22:29 Devastator: Prolly. I mean, sorcies are Cha-based casters, right?
08:23:03 MJ: I still want Sebas to shift form
08:23:16 MJ: I want to see a dragon eat people
08:23:17 Devastator: Well, lets see what he's got.
08:23:27 Devastator: Just bug
PW for more CULT turns. I'll get there.
08:23:28 syv: Ainz is a wizard pretty sure.
08:23:59 Devastator: Nobody preps spells in a MMO.
08:24:08 MJ: She's tottally going to be evil
08:24:11 syv: Never been shown, but he has way too many spells to be a sorc.
08:24:21 ER: maybe she's one of the battle maids
08:24:35 Devastator: ..didn't they come to rescue her?
08:24:51 Devastator: Probably not one of the maids.
08:24:57 ER: they could have already saved her and planted a fake
08:24:58 Devastator: I mean, none of them are good at disguise, really.
08:25:07 MJ: Brain seems to have like one combo and that's it
08:25:13 Devastator: Good combo, though.
08:25:25 Devastator: "I can detect anything."
08:25:34 Devastator: and "I can blow the fuck out of anything I can detect."
08:25:39 Devastator: Yay, dude in maid outfit.
08:26:05 Devastator: I mean, he survived one encounter, and volunteered for a rematch.
08:26:35 MJ: That theif seems a lot smarter than everyone else in this fight
08:26:38 Devastator: and this time knight boy has more backup and his real equipment.
08:27:09 Devastator: "I actually have to try" trope.
08:28:08 MJ: See Brain has one combo and that's it
08:28:30 ER: also, Tuare is doomed, right?
08:28:45 Devastator: give the critical info at the first opportunity.
08:28:54 Devastator: I want to see him. So many idiots waste so much time, and he just gets to the point.
08:29:10 Devastator: tattoo guy from Cabal?
08:29:19 syv: Oh, so the tatoos are usefil.
08:29:57 ER: this fight was cooler in the intro
08:30:18 Devastator: ahh, well, I guess his hands ran out of ammo.
08:31:06 MJ: She's tottally the whatcha call it princess
08:31:14 Devastator: They were in the same room at the same time.
08:31:29 syv: Also, thr princess is yandere for crimeu
08:32:11 Devastator: She's dead right there if insect maid was dead.
08:32:53 Devastator: Dead enough so the ashes would have been vaporized.
08:33:12 MJ: Nah, He's only in like plate armor rather than magic
08:33:14 syv: I expected kess of this in the finale.
08:33:58 Devastator: "Please tell me what Demiurge's plan is."
08:34:51 ER: interfering with your own plans, you're a real military now
08:35:01 Devastator: "eyes full of love and sparkles."
08:35:29 Devastator: Yeah. It's how you know you've arrived.
08:35:31 MJ: Ainz needs to be less like emotion supressed
08:35:39 Devastator: when your left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
08:35:42 ER: every time he says "slip-up" he could be saying "boner"
08:35:52 Devastator: Nobody does that anymore, sadly.
08:35:55 syv: Not his choice, skeleton has no emotion.
08:36:06 Devastator: Someone might remove that at some point.
08:37:25 MJ: A giant hell fire seems nice
08:38:49 Devastator: Yeah, they gotta do it for a big audience.
08:38:55 Devastator: one person isn't that much.
08:39:14 Devastator: He did do demon wings..
08:40:00 MJ: ..Why is everyone here blond?
08:40:11 Devastator: I mean, this is before mass transit.
08:40:16 syv: Almost everyone in the kingdom is.
08:40:19 Devastator: Other than knight guy there.
08:40:23 Devastator: but he's not a local.
08:40:35 Devastator: Yeah.. but this is before mass transit.
08:41:12 MJ: Aslo it seems like only the nobles and people around are blond
08:41:34 Devastator: Also not that weird for certain places at certain times.
08:41:38 syv: Important chars from S1 aren't.
08:41:44 Devastator: They probably took over the kingdom five or six generations ago.
08:42:42 ER: unusual for a dnd type world
08:43:57 syv: *slight artstyle change* *scare chord*
08:44:27 ER: still no evidence she's anything other than a mundane sociopath
08:44:43 ER: there's psookier than that in this universe
08:45:06 Devastator: Well, she cracked a code by looking at it.
08:45:09 syv: I only questioned it before because when she fiddled with her face while commenting on masks, her face wriggled identically to the slime girl's face.
08:45:26 ER: she is kinda like slime girl
08:45:45 Devastator: Slime girl also seems vaguely like Mami.
08:46:02 ER: prince is actually going into battle?
08:46:02 MJ: Mami?....I could sorta see it
08:46:22 Devastator: I suspect Joffrey is waaay at the back.
08:46:26 Devastator: and horizontal curls.
08:46:49 ER: hellhounds,
syv's worst enemy
08:47:17 Devastator: Ahh, thrown greatswords.
08:47:20 Devastator: best ranged weapon.
08:47:33 MJ: I like this is just the ludcrisoully OP guy is just playing pretend it's kinda great
08:47:34 Devastator: I suppose that maid's Homura.
08:47:52 Devastator: Hey, blank expression..
08:47:55 ER: hmm, do you think that Nabe is more powerful than evileye? :P
08:48:10 Devastator: Yeah, but not by a lot.
08:48:27 Devastator: black-haired maid against evil eye.
08:48:45 Devastator: Well, brain's feeling his oats.
08:48:49 Devastator: Or just wants to die.
08:49:02 MJ: I think just death in this case
08:49:14 ER: I hope Brain finds out that Shalltear is an ally of Sebas
08:49:23 Devastator: ..Yeah, that's going to be something.
08:49:33 Devastator: and hey, didn't Momon supposedly kill shalteer?
08:49:35 MJ: There's no way brain can stop shall right?
08:49:57 Devastator: "You aimed for it?"
08:50:39 Devastator: Stick with your strengths, man.
08:50:55 MJ: Brain doesn't much like heroic sacrafices.
08:51:06 ER: he bought a frikken spellslot
08:51:46 Devastator: It's like they're friends and allys.
08:51:48 syv: I guess it is just a plan to them.
08:51:59 Devastator: ..Wait, Brain lived?
08:52:19 Devastator: Oh, right, Ainz said nobody was allowed to kill knight-boy.
08:53:15 Devastator: She can do raise dead.
08:53:19 Devastator: Maybe a high level paladin.
08:53:37 Devastator: ..He's probably safer here, really.
08:53:45 syv: Paladins never get fifth level spells, I don't think.
08:53:48 Devastator: Not like someone couldn't gank him alone in the palace.
08:53:52 Devastator: Yeah, but it's a MMO..
08:54:04 ER: I think paladins get 5th level in 5e
08:54:06 MJ: Paladins get 5th at 20th or so in 5e at least
08:54:32 Devastator: I think fighter blue rose said she was some kind of divine caster to struggle with the cursed item earlier, too.
08:54:38 MJ: ......why does she have a gun?
08:54:49 Devastator: I think that's the robot maid.
08:55:07 Devastator: no sorry, that one is the dullahan.
08:55:13 Devastator: I forget what the one with Ainz is called.
08:55:23 Devastator: the one with the gunsight eye is a robot.
08:55:33 Devastator: Yeah, this one has a collar. That's the dullahan.
08:57:34 Devastator: I think there will be some fight.
08:58:06 MJ: ...I can never tell if Demiurge is being sarcastic
08:58:10 Devastator: where's elf's gift?
08:58:17 Devastator: I don't think so this time.
08:58:41 Devastator: One day he will be.
08:59:06 syv: It's proper to victimize people equally.
08:59:24 syv: Don't wanna be racist or sexist or anything.
08:59:37 ER: "if they don't complain, don't torture them"
09:00:30 ER: why isn't the entomancer wearing one of the same masks?
09:00:39 Devastator: She already has a maxk.
09:00:43 Devastator: Red is the werewolf.
09:01:47 Devastator: got cosmetic fangs.
09:02:00 ER: this is some good professional wrestling
09:03:18 Devastator: I think he upgraded it.
09:03:19 MJ: You don't want word of that to get around
09:04:31 Devastator: ..I want to know what's up with the black sword.
09:04:36 syv: I expected better for the finale.
09:04:38 MJ: yeah, I could see Evil Eye being a vamp
09:04:50 Devastator: undead wtih fangs..
09:04:57 Devastator: I mean, not necessarily, but seems likely.
09:05:21 Devastator: ..Does ninja just like standing next to herself?
09:05:21 MJ: Anyone know of any other fanged human looking creatures in DnD?
09:05:42 Devastator: I think she has a multiple body poewr.
09:05:48 Devastator: ie, they're both her.
09:07:03 syv: One always has blue ribbons and highlights, the other red.
09:07:10 Devastator: Might just be a theme thing.
09:07:18 Devastator: Could Alida make her effigies have different colour effects?
09:07:18 syv: When they shadowclone, clones keep the same colors.
09:07:45 Devastator: I'll keep that in mind if I get like four of them.
09:08:06 MJ: I do like dog thing kinda weird but neat.
09:08:14 syv: Will be helpful for referring to them.
09:08:17 Devastator: cloth golem as dog furry.
09:09:41 ER: final battles of this season weren't of the same tier as first season
09:09:52 Devastator: Yeah, could have used something to the death.
09:10:01 Devastator: Gotta really have something like that.
09:10:06 ER: he had to fight Shalltear for real and it took two episodes :P
09:10:16 Devastator: That said, next season might have that giant white dragon show up, say.
09:10:26 ER: this one was just pro wrestling
09:10:40 syv: And not as flashy as it could have been.
09:10:47 Devastator: I did want more Demiurge vs Ainz, though.
09:10:56 syv: We did get to see the maid with a futuristic AUG though!
09:11:05 ER: Evileye is too easially impressed
09:11:05 Devastator: Also, I didn't see that scene
PW linked with the elf-torturing douche.
09:11:43 Devastator: Trap elf's a spellcaster.
09:11:52 Devastator: I think all we saw was making earth walls and hills around the tomb.
09:12:12 Devastator: other elf's some kinda beastmaster thingy.
09:13:00 ER: There's just too many maids for them all to get cool battles :P
09:13:10 syv: Reverse trap is a beastmaster, trap is a druid.
09:13:12 Devastator: They could have them go tag-team.
09:13:22 Devastator: tag out with each other.
09:13:39 syv: I imagine that they're meant to work together and support each other.
09:13:45 ER: the elves must have some sort of munchkinny synergy
09:14:10 ER: something like Shalltear healing from summons
09:14:12 MJ: Maybe each buff druid gives beastmaster the more it buffs the beast as well
09:14:22 syv: You've got a healer/buffer and a summoner who uses exclusively summons who get extra synergy from the support.
09:15:10 Devastator: Maybe one does AoEs and the other one can grant target protections or something like that.
09:15:45 ER: that's thinking too small, the summons probably heal off the aoe
09:16:35 Devastator: infinite combo nonsense?
09:16:48 syv: So we've got def-heavy knight (Cocytus), cleric undead (Shalltear), Beastmaster (Aura), Druid support (Mare), Martial monk (Sebas)...
09:17:22 ER: I'm not sure if Sebas is even a monk.
09:17:24 syv: Demiurge seems to be some kind of martial caster, but something that gets fleshshaping to a degree.
09:17:31 syv: Sebas is obviously a monk.
09:17:50 ER: He might just be so high level that there's no point bothering with weapons for these enemies
09:17:51 Devastator: Demiurge might be for single-target kills or some kinda command character. IE, provide mass-buffs.
09:18:02 syv: He hasn't done any kind of mass buff though.
09:18:09 syv: At most, he's got lots of demon summons.
09:18:13 Devastator: He had a bunch of demon generals under him.
09:18:20 Devastator: so maybe he summons guys with mass buffs.
09:18:31 syv: Maybe some kind of apotheosis warlock, except he's already a demon. :\
09:18:38 syv: Maybe his bodymodding is racial.
09:18:44 Devastator: Hey, you can combine things.
09:18:55 Devastator: I mean, vampire valkyrie.
09:18:59 syv: The others seem pretty focused in nature.
09:19:20 Devastator: Could look him up on the wiki.
09:19:25 syv: Vampire cleric is a totally legit and powerful build.
09:19:28 ER: sounds like a racial power which gets extra options as you level up :P
09:20:06 syv: So what the hell is Albedo? We've seen her in full plate, so martial, and I can't recall her ever casting anything.
09:20:17 syv: Maybe she's the theif? They're missing that.
09:20:29 Devastator: Straight arch-devil, and listed as a 'defensive combat leader.'
09:20:36 Devastator: so he debuffs and wrecks equipment, maybe.
09:21:11 Devastator: From what I've heard, Albedo has extreme-range stuff.
09:21:12 MJ: Albedo doesn't strike me as sneaky
09:21:17 ER: Theif doesn't seem right for the final floor leader
09:22:00 Devastator: She is last, and, theoretically, the most brutal.
09:22:04 syv: They don't have any martial dex units.
09:22:16 syv: Which is really, really weird for D&D.
09:22:59 syv: He's fast because he's the martial
09:23:09 MJ: He might just have natural armor?
09:23:10 syv: He's still a full plate bug built for def.
09:23:44 syv: I.E. ALL of them are fast because they're max level, in a world of mediocre people.
09:23:46 Devastator: reverse trap elf has to be dex based.
09:24:07 syv: Sure, but she's not really a martial fighter; she's clearly based around minions.
09:24:07 ER: does she even have a weapon?
09:24:14 Devastator: and being not-a-caster is probably a melee fighter.
09:24:38 syv: Shalltear has an axe IIRC, which also doesn't fit with dex...
09:24:53 syv: Why the hell don't they have any pure combat dex units?
09:25:23 Devastator: Shalltear had that weird lance thing.
09:25:23 syv: Well yes, but the maids are minors.
09:25:27 ER: again, haven't seen all them fight
09:25:48 Devastator: I don't know. Cocytus could be all natural armour.
09:25:50 Devastator: could be dex based.
09:25:56 Devastator: he said he usually fights with multiple eapons.
09:26:21 syv: Getting the waifus mixed up.
09:26:54 syv: ...Maybe. It would be like this show to do some weird counter-intuitive build, like the biggest guy being the fastest.
09:27:32 ER: he seemed to be going deliberately slow the one time we saw him "fight"
09:27:51 Devastator: and making your dex dodgy character the fastest one..
09:27:57 Devastator: Demiurge is dex-based.
09:28:17 ER: Demiurge seems "being a demon" based
09:28:57 syv: Demiurge is clearly more caster than martial.
09:29:48 syv: Looking at Albedo's wiki page, it says nothing about what her class or fighting style is. Only mentions the armor and battleaxe.
09:29:53 ER: also, not really everything here is a dnd ripoff
09:30:24 syv: There's the summary where it goes through all the spoilers, which I didn't read, but even there generic search terms about spells don't have hits.
09:30:55 ER: maybe most people who watch this are too busy being weebs to be proper nerds
09:31:04 syv: In the trivia it says that she was a char added when the series was published as novels rather than a web series, specifically so that there'd be a leader sort at home while Ainz was out.
09:31:21 syv: So I'm gonna guess she pretty much doesn't have a build.
09:31:45 ER: well, the creepy character was added later?
09:32:26 ER: also, guess I was wrong that Tuare was doomed this season
09:32:40 syv: Yeah, nobody important died.
09:33:49 ER: it really takes me out of a story when characters don't randomly die regardless of their importence to the story~
09:34:37 MJ: hmmmmm, I'm going to bed. night gents
09:34:42 MJ has left #einsteinianroulette
09:35:48 syv: Apparently Albedo has two sisters.
09:36:12 syv: Her older sister is Nanami if Nanami's hair ate her face and anything else nearby, her younger sister is an undescribed Old One.
09:36:24 syv: And is apparently Nazarick's Bigfer Fish.
09:36:36 Devastator: I don't think characters not shown count as characters..
09:37:42 syv: I'm 90% sure they only appear in the novel version.
09:38:11 syv: Where at least one is described, and the other is left undescribed, possibly in a Lovecraftian way.
09:38:35 Devastator: the one shot skullectomy was also worth watching in that surgeon simulator video.
09:39:32 ER: a character who only exists in one adaptation which isn't the original adaptation and isn't described at all
09:48:25 Devastator: bigger fish, really?
09:48:42 Devastator: wouldn't they have an actual bigger fish?
09:49:24 syv: It's the "strongest entity in Nazarick".
09:49:35 syv: And also locked up like a prisoner.
09:50:24 Devastator: Other than Ainz, of course.
09:50:40 syv: Implication is that no, it's stronger than Ainz.
09:51:08 syv: The writer does seem to be aware that the king doesn't *have* to be the most powerful person. Leadership is more than power.
09:51:32 Devastator: Still, I wouldn't expect there to be too many dudes tougher than Ainz.
09:51:41 ER: I mean, yeah, him fighting Shalltear, the first level boss, was a risk.
09:51:41 syv: Even against Shalltear, he only won due to severe P2W and using a whole arsenal of artifacts. Shalltear used one set of equipment only.
09:51:50 ER: He is NOT the most powerful
09:52:20 syv: I really do think that he's just a munchkinned Level 100 build, as are all the floor guardians.
09:52:23 Devastator: Only guy in the world who can P2W, though.
09:52:54 ER: he probably can't p2w ANYMORE
09:52:58 syv: He's arguably stronger than many because he's a wizard, and wizards are the top of the tier list, but they're all munchkin builds and therefore comparable.
09:53:04 ER: no admins or interface in this world
09:53:26 syv: It seems he can P2W because his guild preemptively P2W'd so much they have massive reserves of cash items.
09:53:40 ER: so he just has cash shop items which were stockpiled, and really anyone could use those if they got their hands on them
09:53:47 syv: ...Though, actually, I think it's because the P2W items were generated by a lottery system.
09:54:05 Devastator: Lottery systems is how asian MMOs let people buy stuff.
09:54:21 syv: He mentioned spending an entire summer's earnings or something gambling until he got the ring of wishes, so he'd have gotten A LOT of more mundane items in that time.
09:54:48 syv: Assuming the other members did similar things, and donated all the unwanted junk to the guild, they'd have massive massive amounts of P2W items.
09:55:12 syv: Far more than they'd have reason or desire to use.
09:55:29 Devastator: ..Yeah, but Ainz might live forever.
09:55:58 syv: If he lives forever he'll just become God before running out, and then he won't need the items. :P
09:57:09 ER: he'd better become god by screaming "apotheosis!" in a super overpronounced way
09:57:43 Devastator: Nah, he'll skip the casting time with a crystal hourglass.
10:38:48 Piecewise_ has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
10:41:20 syv: Apparently in the source novel, Pandora's Actor was let out of the treasury and put to use. He's a doppelganger, and as such is a phenomenal spy, along with apparently being a martial character--the missing dex build!
10:43:00 syv: The S2 scene where Ainz confirms Sebas' loyalty apparently originally was Pandora's Actor impersonating Ainz himself, because Ainz was busy elsewhere. He did so near flawlessly. It is now my headcanon that PA was also playing Ainz in that scene in the anime.
10:44:43 ER: Also makes it seem like Ainz wasn't seriously worried about Sebas, which is fitting.
10:45:07 syv: Also, with a bit further thought, I imagine Albedo is a blaster sorcerer build. She likely has full plate and a battle axe by the exact same method as Ainz when playing as Momon.
10:45:54 ER: ...also might explain why Ainz used greatuh teluhportatuhn rather than gate there
10:46:10 ER: because panda can't actually cast gate!
10:46:29 syv: There's no other arcane casters aside from Demiurge, arcane casters are always top tier which fits with her being the stringest, and sorc means high charisma which fits with her appearance.
10:46:39 ER: Isn't Ainz unable to use most of his magic while in that armor?
10:46:56 syv: Aaaand she didn't cast anything while in that armor.
10:48:41 syv: Oh, also, Narberal is also a doppelganger like Pandora's Actor, but she can only transform into one form, the human form we always see. Her true form looks like him, with the three holes in the head.
10:48:54 syv: Though the wiki is ambiguous on whether she can actually return to it.
10:49:29 syv: So amusingly, she's functionally completely human for most purposes.
10:49:47 syv: The one that goes adventuring with him.
10:49:54 ER: yeah that's kinda a cop-out "uhhhh she's human but not?"
10:50:41 ER: Though so is Sebas unless we actually get to see him do something dragony
10:51:04 syv: There is a 100% human, who is magically enchanted to be immortal, who is Nazarick's portal master and technically one od the maids except not. She's also level 100, like the floor guardians, and is a very dangerous commander-class buffee.
10:52:19 ER: confirms that humans can reach max level though
10:55:35 syv: The maids are apparently all around level 80, making it understandable that bug maid got taken out by three of the strongest adventurers around, plus she was also hard countered by redeye's pesticide spell.
10:56:56 ER: makes me wonder why she made a pesticide spell.
10:57:05 ER: ...probably explained in the novel
11:00:09 syv: Probably not, the wiki doesn't mention why she made it.
11:00:25 ER: maybe heroically killing off mosquitos carrying deadly diseases
11:01:08 syv: Evileye is a 250 years old vampire, and is specifically stated to look like a 12 y/o, because trope. Despite the fact that she looks identical to both Tuare and the princess.
11:02:11 syv: Princess is stated to be 16.
11:02:15 ER: oh, so there's *multiple* vampire lolis in this
11:03:47 syv: So we've got a 12 y/o, a 16 y/o, and a 19 y/o, who all look utterly identical.
11:04:09 syv: Except possibly for their heights, since they never stood next to each other that I can recall.
11:04:16 ER: art style isn't detailed enough to distinguish ;p
11:04:47 ER: I didn't even realize that evileye wasn't adult until momon mentioned it
11:05:00 syv: When your art style isn't detailed enough to distinguish between a 12 year old and a 19 year old, your art style is FLAWED.
11:06:05 syv: Yeah, it's anime, they're all super young looking. She could easily have been a short 25 y/o, and would've been drawn and voiced identically.
11:06:52 ER: she was wearing a mask the whole time, she could have been a short 60 year old :|
11:07:49 syv: She was always shown in the end credits, and wasn't she unmasked at the end?
11:08:43 syv: Oh, Tuare is a level 3. Level 2 slave, because apparently "slave" is a class in this universe, and Level 1 maid, after some training in Nazarick.
11:08:57 syv: I must wonder what a level 100 slave is like.
11:09:22 ER: huh, commoners and such aren't just unleveled?
11:09:30 syv: Also, she's romantically interested in Sebas, the kiss wasn't platonic.
11:10:41 syv: Fucking Americans, being right about this shit.
11:13:05 syv: "Genitalia which can be targeted as if it's a limb"
11:13:12 syv: Somehow this is a first for me.
11:14:33 syv: In the ancient legends it is s... ehhh, no.
11:15:49 syv has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
11:44:42 ER: hm. I've downloaded the demo for Fear and Hunger and shall play it later.

15:22:58 Piecewise_: you guys watch some overlord last night I see?
15:25:08 Devastator: Yeah, finished off season 2.
15:25:19 Devastator: End of season fights weren't epic enough.
15:27:19 Piecewise_: no, but Butler did murder the fuck out of people didn't he?
15:27:43 Devastator: I do want to see him do something as a dragon eventually, though.
15:27:54 Piecewise_: Sad, I was hoping to see you guys watch the but maid part
15:29:21 Piecewise_: She shoots bug bullets!
15:30:07 Devastator: We did see that yesterday.
15:31:54 Devastator: Last night was the last two episodes.
15:32:00 Devastator: lots of Yandere Princess.

20:29:16 Devastator: are we screwed in CULT?
20:29:47 Devastator: okay. Got your shopping list.
20:30:52 ER: just wanted to ask what clothing would be appropriate for a bird. Decided that a sash or shawl would be safe enough
20:31:38 Devastator: that would have been a bad time to get caught.
20:31:48 ER: Really hope that we find something to kill, though.
20:31:58 Devastator: Better is probably jewellry.
20:32:09 ER: I worry what happens when I don't excersise my knife power
20:32:28 Devastator: Get a piece of deadwood and start whittling.
20:33:10 Devastator: Headcloths are also good.
20:33:26 ER: should at least be green wood cut from a living tree :P
20:33:31 Devastator: Leg coverings are also fine.
20:33:41 Devastator: What did
PW say about your need to knife things again?
20:33:44 ER: something comfy and distinctive
20:34:37 ER: ideally a human, but anything living works
20:34:55 Devastator: well, maybe you can find a fox or something then.
20:35:33 ER: ...which I'm not sure if
PW really thought through before saying, because there's lots of living things which don't bleed or resist. :P
20:37:18 Devastator: Mind you, it's a base level corruption.
20:38:07 ER: I got madness from it, not corruption.
20:38:51 Devastator: Oh well, time to see what human meat tastes like, and time to test out my firebreath.
20:41:39 Devastator: Also, unless you get fancy, you're probably going to be restricted to bringing back one book.
20:41:49 Devastator: (Carrying capacity limits.)
20:42:27 Devastator: You're not tiny, but the city doesn't have modern paperbacks.
20:43:01 Devastator: They do have books, which are better than the scrolls you guys keep for storing lots of carryable words.
20:43:19 Devastator: I'll be sure to get you excited when you see those.
20:44:24 Devastator: Of course, like a lot of restrictions you might come up with a way to get around that.
20:53:58 Devastator: Proobably going to want to learn a transportation spell.
20:54:40 ER: I didn't mention it, but anything that would let me create magical items would be helpful too
20:56:54 Devastator: Possible.. but that might be a bit trickier.
20:57:13 Devastator: Well, probably going to take a couple turns to resolve things.
20:59:00 Devastator: Learning is also not going to be instantaneous.
21:01:10 Devastator: This isn't Sh, so I'm not going to be going to the level of detail there with XP points and extreme skill ranks, but it isn't going to be quite that quick.
21:54:51 Devastator: Starring Dick Rambo.
22:46:59 ER: so, what kind of magic am I looking at here,
dev?
22:51:38 Devastator: Just a sec, rolling a few dice.
22:55:29 Devastator: Basically, there are two main forms of magic. Magic that uses the power that is within yourself, stuff that is present in everyone and everything to a greater or lesser degree, and magic that uses power stored in your surroundings. The first is quicker and more readily available, and the second is more powerful but slower.
22:56:00 Devastator: Also, you can push yourself to exhaustion, mental stress, or injury with the first one, but the second one can be depleted around you and then simply isn't there to begin with.
22:56:15 Devastator: There are also various hybrid styles that mix the two effects.
22:58:17 Devastator: You do have a couple of choices, though. Do you want to learn how to properly use magic, which will give you some insight and advantages in trying to teach others and study or develop new powers, or do you just want to learn how to quickly use a few basic effects?
22:58:57 ER: Better if I actually learn something, there's only so much I can do just by myself.
23:02:19 Devastator: Yeah. Also, the more you mix and match, the more time and money it'll take to learn things.
23:03:06 Devastator: You'll also be better at specific things if you dedicate yourself. There will be other advantages towards a generalized base, but it won't give your spells more oomph.
23:04:50 ER: If I do it right, I won't be the only mage. Having a wide base of knowledge is good, it means that I can at least try to help anyone who tries to be more specialized.
23:05:17 ER: If I go into just one thing, all other options are basically blocked off.
23:06:03 Devastator: It might not be as yes or no as that. I mean, you might have trouble teaching people how to do things other than throw fireballs, but you're pretty sure you could manage to spread fireball-throwing around.
23:06:12 Devastator: Even if you're pretty specialized.
23:06:32 ER: ...Though really, it might be best if I *specialize* in general theory.
23:07:31 ER: Starting at the bottom and reinventing the wheel isn't fast, but it is flexible if we survive long enough.
23:08:31 Devastator: That probably doesn't lend itself towards immediate fireball throwing, though.
23:10:49 ER: I want at least basic fireball throwing, at the least...
23:11:49 ER: Maybe it's for the best I'd specialize in the personal power type of magic, and general applications for that
23:12:09 Devastator: Well, take your time. I'll post that info and more detailed results of your investigations as your turn.
23:12:19 Devastator: I mean, really, it's a lot to cover for one turn.
23:12:24 ER: Lacking the object based magic isn't too large of a disadvantage
23:19:54 Devastator: Yeah. You didn't find any enchantment or magic item people on your first outing, but maybe that doesn't happen in libraries and dojos.
23:23:31 Devastator: ..I also gotta agree with
PW. K6BD has good setpieces and an uninteresting plot.
