00:36:33 Piecewise: Hey Devastator
00:36:41 Piecewise: You ever heard of Rain World?
00:40:49 Piecewise: Might be a good game to stream
00:40:52 Piecewise: https://youtu.be/kxbQy0U92R4
00:56:56 Devastator: Nope.
00:57:05 Devastator: Was playing Super Smash TV.
00:57:17 Devastator: 'fate of a slugcat.'
00:57:26 Devastator: Oh, that.
00:57:29 Devastator: I have heard of that.
00:58:04 Devastator: looks like hell for the blind.
00:58:06 Devastator: Piecewise.
00:58:51 Piecewise: I mean
00:58:54 Piecewise: wait
00:59:04 Piecewise: what do you mean by line work?
00:59:16 Piecewise: doesn't line work require eyes?
01:00:13 Piecewise: Are we gonna have to get you some trailer park boys Bubble's glasses?
01:00:20 Devastator: generally things are under direct bright lights.
01:00:26 Devastator: You think I don't have those already?
01:00:55 Devastator: Nah, haven't heard of it. Been a lot of exploration 2d platformers around, though.
01:01:07 Devastator: including ones with white characters on black backgrounds.
01:01:07 Piecewise: https://media0.giphy.com/media/5wHAShJBuyure/giphy.gif?cid=3640f6095c4a55f15378637945c49296
01:01:42 Piecewise: I mean, white character on dark background should make seeing it easier, no?
01:02:40 Devastator: Yeah, but then the whole background is dark.
01:02:57 Devastator: so all I see is the little lump and not much else.
01:09:57 Devastator: why that one in particular?
01:13:01 Devastator: https://loweringthebar.net/2017/07/axe-in-the-roof.html
01:28:54 Piecewise: It is pretty tough, no nonsense, and seems the sort of thing you'd like
01:29:11 Piecewise: But it might be hard with bad eyes
01:35:38 Devastator: I also have a serious tendacy to get lost, but that'd probably be more enjoyable for watchers.
01:35:52 Devastator: Did you see the end of DS1?
01:36:10 Devastator: I got the dark lord ending by accident because I wandered out of the room by accident.
01:48:33 Piecewise: Why isn't your channel Named "Mr. Magoo
02:08:02 Devastator: Because I haven't had the ability to change anything regarding that channel for years?
02:11:01 Devastator: (Year-old game) is the first mainstream e-sport!
02:11:34 Devastator: "No, Rocket League, League of Legends or CS-Go are all older!"
02:11:40 Devastator facepalms remembering Starcraft.
02:36:48 Devastator: Piecewise, I think you missed the point of ER's action. Anaconda wants babies.
02:36:52 Devastator: ;-p
02:37:44 Piecewise: No I understood that
02:38:39 Devastator: Ahh. I suppose you gotta wait to see what kind of babies he'll try for this time.
02:43:13 Devastator: The Blood Cult and the Good Mortals enter a sort of pact of non-aggression/ kidnapping for blood rites.
02:43:18 Devastator: More common than you'd think.
02:43:33 Devastator: (Unusually, it's the Good Mortals doing the blood rites.) ;-p
02:59:30 Devastator: Huh, that groper had terrible rolls.
03:00:08 Devastator: 7,4,4,3,5,7,13,9,9,15,14. All d20s.
03:28:04 Piecewise: Why does this groper have so many rolls?
03:28:23 Piecewise: Is this like fist of the north star ATATATATATAT! groping?
03:30:08 Devastator: Awful hospital has a terrible combat system.
03:30:12 Devastator: each point of damage is rolled for.
03:59:18 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
04:10:03 Piecewise: Oh?
04:10:07 Piecewise: It has a combat system?
04:10:34 ER: hey PW
04:12:12 ER: humble has a bundle of a whole fuckload of Numenera books
04:12:40 ER: $15 for the highest tier.
04:29:11 Piecewise: huh
04:29:38 Piecewise: I know nothing of the setting, but I've heard its weird
04:30:17 ER: it's earth 9999999999999999999999 years into the future and everything's magic but actually technology
04:35:40 Devastator: So.. nothing special then?
04:36:22 ER: yup
05:04:53 Piecewise: turn 2 of MOOK; Dev accidently bashes someone's teeth out with a flashlight
05:06:24 ER: can't be me, I have a gas mask where my mouth should be
05:06:58 Devastator: welp
05:07:29 Piecewise: Admittedly, she tempted fate acting like that
05:12:35 ER: Piecewise, when you say the machine is a tube, do you mean it's a big glass tube presumably filled with liquid, or just a blank metal tube?
05:12:55 Piecewise: Big empty glass tube
05:13:01 Piecewise: or clear
05:13:04 Piecewise: probably not glass
05:13:06 Piecewise: Right?
05:13:16 Piecewise: They wouldn't make it out of glass...right?
05:13:27 ER: they'd be idiots to use glass, which means they inevitably did.
05:14:46 ER: ...I'm just going to list my "speech" skill as N/A okay
05:15:42 Piecewise: Body language and miming can count as speech
05:25:53 ER: hhhhh fine
05:27:19 ER: btw what is the official title of OMNITECH® security guards? I went with "OMNITECH® Security Specialists" but I may as well ask for an official answer.
05:33:05 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:33:44 syv: ER, when doee stamina regenerate? Every turn? Also, do grapple attacks require stamina, or only lethal unarmed attacks?
05:34:14 ER: Stamina regenerates outside combat.
05:34:45 ER: Might only regenerate partially if you enter combat again, it takes some time.
05:35:48 ER: Grappling can be accomplished with just a normal Punch attack, the 2 stamina cost only applies an additional lethal/AP3 to the attack.
05:36:36 ER: also, ties between armor and AP go to the armor. AP lists what level of armor you'd need to resist the damage, basically.
05:36:41 syv: Okay, good.
05:37:19 ER: Grappling basically exists as an answer to heavilly armored and pain resistant enemies.
05:37:32 syv: Sheet sent, because I've spent long enough agonizing over it.
05:37:39 ER: alright
05:37:39 syv: Yeaaah.
05:46:27 ER: alright, time for the attack of the 12-part action, Piecewise~
05:47:12 Piecewise: Time for the 11 part ignore
05:47:17 ER: with two more things that I plan to add depending on player feedback, and several more things I wish to do on subesequent turns
05:48:19 syv: Which game?
05:48:26 ER: Divine Fuckery
05:48:42 ER: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=172807.msg7920085#msg7920085 you can see for yourself
05:49:38 syv: Ah yeah, that one.
05:49:53 syv: Logs mentioned something about you having babies? Grats.
05:51:12 ER: I'm moving myself and my [s]minions[/s] chosen people to a different location, making new bodies for half of them, making some of those bodies special, transferring their souls to the new bodies with help from ritual sacrifice of their existing bodies, naming the new race, suggesting that my minions pick a name for their civilization, ripping a part off of space beastie, recovering one of my past bodies, and cooing at someone else
05:51:28 ER: I have unfortunately not yet succeeded at creating babies.
05:52:54 ER: First time because I rolled a 1 and made the subject mortal comatose, second time because I decided to pick a player minor god instead on the logic that he should be powerful enough to not fall to the same fate, the the player in question ended up not posting until the last second and missed my post adressing them.
05:53:46 ER: Though I'm working on giving my current mechanical minions fleshy bodies, which should end up being an option.
05:54:38 ER: (yeah the last mortal went comatose and then I ate him, but I'm sure the risk is worth it for someone out there)
05:55:46 syv: Jeeze. Is Anaconda a spider?
05:59:12 ER: I started as a six-limbed mechanical offshoot of the eldritch abomination of ultimate murder, got a hateful and murderous soul shot into me by the god of souls as a test run, got my body destroyed and replaced a few times, ending up in control of a massive void dreadnaught, Stole power from the minor god of makin' love, then as a minor god gave myself a fleshy snek body and promptly got high on hormones
05:59:15 ER: so yes.
05:59:59 syv: Spiders have eight limbs, not six. So Anaconda is an insect, not a spider.
06:00:20 syv: Luckily, I'm pretty sure some insects also practice sexual cannabalism.
06:01:02 ER: Oh yeah, after that a demigod tried to steal power from a major god and I helped the major god win the contest. as a reward the demigod was reduced to a mortal and sent to me as a concubine
06:01:37 ER: I mean, it's not particularly common for spiders
06:03:49 syv: Relative to most species it is.
06:04:00 ER: Anyway my plans are to grant my half machine half biological followers twin breeds of magic. Biomancy and Technomancy, obviously. Then I'll punch a hole into the barrier protecting the mortal realm and have the serpents build a machine that keeps the hole open, giving them sole control over what can enter the mortal realm
06:04:27 ER: also someone just made humans so I'm going to make them more anime
06:05:21 ER: almost forgot to call him Lord Credst rather than just Credst. The Lord is very important.
06:05:51 syv: You have fun with that.
06:06:22 MidJag has joined #einsteinianroulette
06:06:22 ER: ah, I see that you just died in a car accident. My condolences~
06:06:24 MidJag: lo
06:06:29 ER: hai
06:06:39 MidJag: Who are we digging out of a burning wreck?
06:07:21 ER: I'm certainly not.
06:07:33 ER: digging him out, that is.
06:07:47 ER: I might be dead, never know
06:08:55 syv: Oh, is it me, is it me?? :D
06:09:10 syv: Do I get to go to Hell now?
06:09:31 ER: soon, soon
06:09:50 MidJag: Soon enough.
06:11:41 ER: Oh yeah, you can totally punch/grapple with your free hand when holding a 2-handed weapon, btw. It looks like you guessed that, though.
06:11:45 syv: yay
06:12:01 syv: Wait, I can? I figured I'd have to sling my rifle.
06:12:06 syv: Awesome.
06:12:22 ER: Just can't use the rifle while grappling.
06:12:34 syv: I wouldn't, anyway. :P
06:12:58 MidJag: YOu can't beat someone to death with the butt of your rifle? How decidedly un-American of you ER. :P
06:13:21 ER: >trying to shoot a sniper rifle one-handed while grappling someone. :thinking emoji:
06:14:18 ER: Well, guns aren't lethal weapons when you're holding them like guns. Maybe if you held them by the barrel or something it would count as a club...
06:16:19 ER: syv, do you *actually* own a replica of the Mask of the Child?
06:16:25 syv: Yes.
06:16:30 ER: huh.
06:16:42 syv: I considered uploading an image of myself wearing it, but then decided that was too bothersome.
06:17:19 syv: Also, I can and have used the SVD effectively onehanded, to brutally murder watermelons. The sling helps a lot.
06:17:27 ER: I'd probably give it to you anyway, but that changes what it means that you show up in a hell universe holding a fictional mask. :V
06:19:17 ER: hmm
06:20:01 ER: should weapons like the assault rifle and shotgun have a min range of 1? I'm not clear on how easy they are to use in a melee.
06:22:03 MidJag: hmm, my youtube recomendations have just degernated latelly.
06:22:28 MidJag: It's clickbait as far as the eye can see
06:22:55 ER: tends to be of questionable use due to algorithm magic, but you can mark suggestions as "not interested"
06:23:23 ER: I use it whenever I spot something that particularly disgusts me
06:24:54 syv: What is min range suppose to represent? Difficulty wielding? Difficulty acquiring a target due to optics?
06:24:59 MidJag: I dunno there's something about giving google feedback that annoys me more than getting clickbait.
06:25:12 syv: You sound like Dev.
06:25:55 MidJag: I do occasionally posses a few dev like qualities I'll admit.
06:26:38 syv: I think having recommendeds filled with clickbait means their information on you is old or nonexistent. I've been getting a lot of it, too.
06:27:35 MidJag: weird.
06:27:43 ER: Min range represents difficulty in moving a long or heavy weapon to bear, making it impossible to hit someone who is very close and actively moving.
06:27:51 ER: At least, that's what I figure
06:28:05 MidJag: Either that or someones been using my one of my google acounts to exlucsivelly look at clickbait.
06:28:19 syv: Anyway ER, if it's difficulty wielding, I'd make shotguns/ARs the same, and something short like 2 or 3, with SMGs having and even closer range if any. If it's optics, I'd put shotguns very low (they tend to use bead sights), and ARs somewhere between them and scoped rifles.
06:28:44 syv: oh. I don't log in to Google to watch YT.
06:29:18 ER: Min range affects snap shots as well as aimed shots, and snap shots are supposed to represent firing without using the sights.
06:29:25 syv: Turning in place faster than a person can run in circles around you, even with a very long object, is very easy.
06:30:21 syv: Then yeah, min range should be pretty substantial, especially for scoped weapons. while keeping the gun pointed at them is easy, keeping the sights aligned is not, at all.
06:31:00 ER: Hmm, I gave the sniper a min of 6? I remember giving it a 3.
06:31:18 MidJag: See it's weird, I don't use it to log in it's just occasionally I'll forget to log out
06:31:22 syv: Pistols get nothing, SMGs and shotguns would get like 2 or 3, ARs more around 6-10 depending on what sight they have, Scopes... well, that would be fair anywhere from 10 to 20, really.
06:31:49 MidJag: Also ER random question, but what Carolina are you from? I can never remember which it is.
06:32:06 syv: The better one.
06:32:15 syv: It's better 'cause it has ER in it.
06:32:22 MidJag: Fair point.
06:33:04 ER: Even if it is scoped, wouldn't it still be just as easy to fire without sights? Maybe min range shouldn't apply to snapshots then. Though that seems like it might leave guns too powerful at close range.
06:33:14 ER: North, MidJag
06:33:50 syv: I assume basically everything would be able to make snapshots within min range?
06:34:13 syv: Even in melee, really, a gun is a spear that doesn't need momentum.
06:34:28 ER: True enough.
06:34:35 MidJag: it's a lightsaber spear :P
06:35:39 ER: I'll say that min only applies to aimed shot then, and give it to SMGs, Shotguns, and Rifles then. Using snapshots at point-blank can still be dangerous against melee enemies.
06:36:10 ER: Trying to shoot someone with a spear 2 tiles away can even result in being parried and instakilled.
06:36:34 MidJag: What game are you making ER?
06:36:50 syv: "Tactical Hell"
06:36:57 MidJag: Nice
06:36:58 syv: It's about being tactical in Hell.
06:37:03 MidJag: Sounds fun
06:37:05 ER: yes.
06:37:10 MidJag: Is there fleshorror?
06:37:19 ER: sorta
06:37:37 MidJag: good enough for me! ~
06:37:48 ER: you can glue demon limbs to your stumps using demon glue extracted from demons
06:37:58 syv: ER asked me to make a character, and grappling is a core system, so I just made myself as a character.
06:38:09 MidJag: hah, nice.
06:38:31 ER: Aaaalso might include a (weak, limited) magic system which could result in such shenanigans.
06:39:17 MidJag: Is this a PM game IRC?
06:39:19 MidJag: Forum?
06:39:47 ER: Right now it is not a game, but a bigass rules document.
06:40:05 ER: I am going to do a one on one with syv for a first test, though.
06:40:19 ER: Forum PMs for that
06:42:55 MidJag: cool
06:46:07 MidJag: Could I be CC'd?
06:46:26 syv: Will the first PM be tonight?
06:46:33 ER punched MidJag with inhuman strength
06:46:55 ER: I'll try to work on it tonight.
06:47:15 MidJag has been shot and killed
06:47:36 MidJag: That's the only DF kill ticker that I rember
06:47:57 ER: struck down is for most melee damage
06:48:25 MidJag: Was it struck down? I thought it was something different.
06:48:27 ER: most other deaths are bled to death. I forget the exact wording for that though
06:48:57 ER: oh, and sometimes people randomly die of old age :P
06:49:33 syv: Struck down, yes.
06:49:35 ER: but like fire and stuff results in a bleeding death as the heat causes your fat to melt, leading to blood loss.
06:49:44 syv: You are struck, and then you become down.
06:49:51 syv: You can also "Die in the heat"
06:50:45 ER: if you get hit in the heart or throat and such you get "a major artery was severed by the attack!" and bleed to death soon after.
06:51:15 ER: but things like being bisected or beheaded says Struck Down
06:51:25 MidJag: Oh right
06:51:35 syv: Oh, and drowning.
06:51:47 MidJag: you mean death by carp? :P
06:51:52 syv: Was there a special death term for being strangled?
06:51:56 syv: Heh.
06:52:23 ER: can you suffocate from damage to the throat or lungs? Is that a different message from drowning?
06:52:26 syv: Fireimmune dwarves can drown in lava, and sadly (happily?) there are no lava carp in the base game.
06:52:34 MidJag: I think suffocated was a thing
06:52:40 syv: You can absolutely die by being strangled.
06:52:58 syv: Though the player is the only one who *will* do it, IIRC.
06:53:02 ER: I know that being strangled tends to result in unconciousness so most of the time you'd get KOed and then kicked in the head.
06:53:20 syv: I think NPCs nowadays just coup-de-grace you after you go unconscious, yeah.
06:53:42 MidJag: I rember because one of my dwarves ended up spreading a forgotten beast super virus dust that made everyone suffocate
06:54:21 MidJag: That fortress was a mess, we got the forgotten beast attack and a goblin seige at the same time
06:54:41 syv: Boots and bathing trenches, MJ. Boots and bathing trenches.
06:54:55 MidJag: yeahhhhhhhhhh, I kinda forgot about both of those
06:55:11 syv: Also: Wall off the entire world.
06:55:33 MidJag: But that's boring~
06:55:35 ER: I only play adventurer mode. Maybe because I dislike being in charge of people, so even a game about managing dumb tiny fictional people doesn't really appeal.
06:55:41 syv: Map the caverns via fortifications, lock off segments by collapsing stone walls in.
06:56:05 syv: I don't play the game at all, anymore. ._.
06:56:15 MidJag: yeah, same.
06:56:20 syv: I still think we should do our own little succession fort between the four of us.
06:56:32 MidJag: That would be cool
06:58:12 MidJag: What version though?
06:58:21 syv: Whatever's the latest, I'd think.
06:58:39 syv: Not understanding integral systems is, like, the soul of DF.
06:58:40 MidJag: Are we in a big wait era again?
06:58:54 syv: Towards the end of one, actually.
06:59:05 syv: You don't follow the devlog?
06:59:20 MidJag: Only occasionally and it's been a while since my last binge
06:59:21 ER: Nah, we're in a small arc leading up to *the* big wait
07:00:00 MidJag: We're in the villian arc right?
07:00:06 syv: Yeah.
07:00:07 ER: Toady is right now working on Villians who plot and sceme, after that he's going to start work on :sparkle: MAGIC :sparkle:
07:00:23 MidJag: Okay that sounds damn cool
07:00:53 ER: Magic and myth generation. So each world will have a different creation myth and magic systems stemming from that.
07:00:57 syv: Hmm. I guess the last update was in July, so if we started a succession fort anytime soon, it would almost certainly be dead before the next update.
07:02:03 ER: and of course it's going to take some time. Estimates range in the number of years.
07:03:10 syv: Well, it's DF.
07:03:46 syv: It's less of a game, more a constantly in-progress work of art.
07:04:36 MidJag: True
07:04:47 ER: that's why it's in MOMA
07:04:55 MidJag: MOMA?
07:05:04 syv: Is it still there?
07:05:15 syv: I thought it was only a temporary exhibit.
07:05:15 ER: Pretty sure they never got rid of it
07:06:13 MidJag: https://www.moma.org/collection/works/164920
07:07:57 MidJag: and I think everything in that museum is somewhat temporary, they rotate it but keep everything they display in vaults unless it's on loan or something
07:08:06 syv: "Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects July 24–November 7, 2011"
07:08:31 syv: I still find it a little sad that they chose to make it nonplayable.
07:09:17 syv: I know that nobody ubfamiliar with it would be able to do anything beyond *maybe* figuring out how to look at the list of dead dwarves, but it'd be hilarious to have a DF vet step up and just start fixing the fortress.
07:09:29 MidJag: That would be hilarious.
07:10:12 syv: "Sir, we need to move on. The tour was only supposed to spend ten minutes on this exhibit." "Go on without me! The dwarves are dying, they need my help!"
07:12:02 MidJag: "It's not feasible right now to let somebody live in our museum for four months and play Dwarf Fortress non-stop," Galloway says.
07:12:25 MidJag: https://www.polygon.com/2014/8/6/5973295/dwarf-fortress-is-changing-how-moma-preserves-art
07:12:39 syv: Hahahahaha
07:14:39 syv: "And here, we see the Dwarf Fortress exhibit. This amazing game exists in symbiosis with its users, as Brian here demonstrates."
07:15:57 syv: Midway through the tour, Brian shouts out "A baby was born! Anyone want me to name her after them?" "Yes! Name her Sally!" "Okay, Sally's her name, I hope she survives the dwarves' childcare!"
07:22:08 MidJag: heh, 2 hours later alright Sally well your missing your fat, but look at those stats
07:24:49 syv: I think there's like a 2/3rds chance that Sally would take that entirely as an improvement. Probably a 3/3rds chance she's take it as an insult, as well.
07:25:44 MidJag: heh, true.
07:28:32 MidJag: huh, EVE online is in MOMA
07:28:47 MidJag: ....why?
07:29:01 syv: It's fairly unique.
07:29:54 ER: yeah, it's something quite special in its own way.
07:30:37 MidJag: I was about to say it's all spreadsheets and realized that would be a bit hypocritical coming from someone who plays DF
07:30:40 ER: a game with it's own wars and trade disputes and empires, right down to having its own media people and propagandists
07:31:46 ER: Where DF simulates all that, EVE just creates the conditions under which it can happen with real, non-simulated people
07:32:33 ER: a big part of EVE isn't the game itself, but all the people who play it, what they get out of it
07:32:44 ER: what they *put into* it
07:33:19 MidJag: I dunno EVE just never struck me as fun.
07:33:49 ER: EVE transcends fun
07:33:57 ER: it even transcends Fun
07:34:10 ER: because nobody plays that game to have a nice time~
07:34:34 ER: they play because they like to be in that world, however terrible it may be
07:34:42 MidJag: Except maybe Aigre. I can never tell with him.
07:35:16 ER: it is after all very romantic to be in a virtual world driven almost entirely by other real people.
07:36:00 ER: Aigre's emotions aren't human emotions, I think. I suspect he is some sort of spider.
07:36:05 ER: <3
07:36:28 syv: That's an insult to spiders.
07:36:32 syv: Aigre is an ant.
07:37:33 ER: Aigre does not have a tiny mind, just one that follows no known laws of human phychology~
07:37:53 MidJag makes a mental note to get some pheromones and test this theory
07:38:27 ER: it would take several ants in order to build such needlessly complex tactical battle systems, for example!
07:38:53 syv: Fair point.
07:39:01 syv: Aigre is an ant colony.
07:39:05 ER: Ants can only reach the level of Aigre's madness with teamwork, so he's at least a colony
07:45:03 MidJag: A study in humanoid insect colonies: Case study the Aigresauras by MidnightJaguar
08:01:44 ER: hmm look at me not trying to work on the tactical hell test
08:05:09 MidJag: Hmm, we could watch bojack horseman, I've not seen it but heard good things about it
08:05:54 ER: all I know is that it's pretty damn tragic
08:06:32 syv: No.
08:07:04 MidJag: I must ask why syv?
08:07:36 ER: I have seen a little of it actually. Doesn't interest me much.
08:09:47 syv: The artstyle is pain.
08:10:16 ER: It is... not the best I've seen, certainly.
08:11:05 ER: That's probably because japanese people really know how to draw, though~
08:14:03 MidJag: I dunno, it's not the worst
08:14:35 ER: that's true because the worst is very bad :P
08:16:01 syv: Objectively speaking, most of the anime that has art I hate is still much better than Bojack Horseman's art.
08:16:16 syv: So many western cartoons don't care at all about the visual quality.
08:16:26 syv: Especially adult ones.
08:16:41 ER: yeah, it's kinda sad.
08:17:06 MidJag: Yeah
08:17:20 MidJag: I'm not sure why.
08:17:40 ER: I feel like adult western cartoons just have very little audience overlap with anime, so they can get away with the worst low-effort low-cost shit
08:18:44 ER: like, it's good enough to get chuckles out of people casually watching television, so it's good enough to make a profit
08:20:48 MidJag: There's one or two western animated shows that are quite good
08:20:59 MidJag: Rick and Morty and the other one will come too me
08:21:43 ER: hey looks like we've got an intellectual over here~~~~~
08:22:34 syv: Rick and Morty doesn't look good either.
08:22:49 MidJag: It sorta looks decent.
08:22:52 MidJag: ....ish
08:22:57 syv: The writing is okay, and they clearly do put some effort into the visuals and effects, but it doesn't look *good*.
08:22:59 Piecewise: Well, adult cartoons are often just vehicles for jokes
08:23:01 syv: Good enough, yes.
08:23:18 syv: Yeah, and I don't have a sense of humor, so not my thing.
08:23:36 ER: I'd say it's slightly higher than average effort for a western adult cartoon. Same level as Final Space
08:23:51 MidJag: Writing?
08:24:12 Piecewise: The best cartoon was clearly Xavier: Renegade Angel
08:24:32 MidJag: heh, now that show was painful to watch.
08:24:36 ER: I'd say that writing generally sucks for western cartoons too, but... uhh, that's true for anime too.
08:25:00 syv: `1
08:25:04 Piecewise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiWLMKwhVUc
08:25:19 ER: Both are equivalent to average videogame plot: likely a bad excuse which somehow still manages to waste time.
08:25:43 syv: This is why I often describe things that I like seeing as a primary reason to watch anime. At least I can enjoy looking at guns.
08:26:06 ER: Yes.
08:26:57 syv: Why is it that AMERICAN cartoons have shitty block guns, and JAPANESE cartoons have high quality, perfectly depicted guns?
08:27:13 MidJag: Familiarity breeds contempt? :P
08:27:22 ER: Because japanese cartoons put more effort in in general
08:27:43 Piecewise: The real reason is actually probably that "Standards in Broadcasting" law
08:27:45 ER: also known as "actually making some amount of effort to depict the thing you're drawing"
08:27:51 Piecewise: no overly realistic weapons in a kids show
08:27:58 Piecewise: just pew pews
08:28:21 ER: fuckin americans and their censorship, right?
08:28:48 ER: there oughta be a law against it
08:28:52 Piecewise: Americans blur guns, japs blur genitals
08:29:08 Piecewise: and so it goes
08:29:41 ER: to be fair we are very awkward about sex and very... loving, of violence
08:29:55 syv: Make war, not love.
08:30:01 syv: Love war, no make.
08:30:10 ER: less boobs more intestines
08:30:21 MidJag: Let's just kill things.
08:30:24 MidJag: America
08:30:41 MidJag: and on that note. goodnight
08:30:44 ER: <3
08:30:45 MidJag has left #einsteinianroulette

08:30:54 Piecewise: More intestines
08:32:00 syv: EAT IT.
08:32:06 ER: mmm, can just taste them from that picture
08:32:17 ER: tastes... intestine-y
08:32:32 Piecewise: WHat is this, a pornhub comment section
08:32:54 Piecewise: Anyways
08:32:55 Piecewise: this
08:32:56 Piecewise: https://imgur.com/gallery/X7kBBFn
08:33:34 syv: Oh yay, another humorist who thinks constant cursing is the height of humor.
08:33:48 ER: what a fucking clown~
08:34:10 ER: Also yes, this is secretly a pornhub comments section
08:34:16 ER: the video is your life
08:34:21 Piecewise: Wait
08:34:35 ER: we have cleverly disguised it as an IRC channel as a rudse
08:34:42 Piecewise: sy, there is far less cursing in this than like 5 minutes in my presence
08:35:13 Piecewise: I'm not seeing any actually
08:35:49 Piecewise: Are you fucking high?
08:35:49 ER: oh yeah, not cursing there
08:35:59 ER: just a bunch of insults against cats
08:36:09 ER: which is probably enough to trigger syv
08:36:14 Piecewise: Is sy the new dev?
08:36:21 Piecewise: Is dev the new Oz?
08:36:26 ER: is dev fucking high?
08:36:32 ER: no, also fuck oz
08:36:38 ER: <3
08:37:01 Piecewise: he is most disagreeable for a priest, sometimes
08:37:24 syv: I read one sentence and it came off as being in thst genre, so I stopped reading and complained instead.
08:37:34 syv: Also, cat insults.
08:37:52 Piecewise: Sy is the new Oz!
08:38:05 syv: That explains the emnity.
08:39:34 ER: oz does seem to like cats, which does admittedly put him at least one notch above literal satan
08:39:50 Piecewise: Like...figurative satan then
08:40:38 ER: maybe like a satan allegory, because I don't actually believe in the critter anyways
08:41:03 ER: satan, not oz. I'm around 40% sure that oz is an actual fleshling human person
08:41:38 Piecewise: I think he might be an angry AI
08:41:57 Piecewise: Like the I have no mouth but I must scream AI but like...not so much
08:42:35 ER: heshe is called AM
08:42:59 ER: Hate. HATE.
08:43:37 ER: https://youtu.be/EddX9hnhDS4
08:44:20 syv: Nah.
08:44:27 syv: AM is much more driven and effective.
08:45:32 Piecewise: Yeah
08:45:35 Piecewise: thats why I said not as much
08:49:00 Piecewise: Welp, I'll see you losers in hell!
08:49:05 Piecewise has quit [Quit: Leaving]

08:55:03 ER: I have written... 71 characters
08:55:42 ER: I was actually watching the intro to the game version of I have no mouth and I much scream just now :V
08:55:45 syv: Literally a start.
08:55:54 syv: Now finish.
09:19:52 ER: well, you got a massive success at an extremely easy roll, congratulations.

10:06:41 Devastator: yo syv.
10:06:47 syv: yo dev.
10:06:57 Devastator: 71 characters?
10:07:02 syv: Why no heya?
10:07:07 ER: oh, I'd thought you quit for some reason
10:07:09 syv: It's a start.
10:07:16 Devastator: I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate
10:07:23 syv: My phone D/C'd, and I didn't notice for a bit.
10:07:44 ER: 1171 characters, and a terribly drawn map of a bathroom
10:09:19 syv: In Hell?
10:09:28 syv: I think it would be cruel to draw it *well8.
10:09:31 syv: **
10:10:20 syv: Is it ready yet?
10:10:28 syv: Why are there so many words for a tactics game test?
10:10:39 syv: Should I have made my char Doomguy?
10:12:12 ER: what is the difference between a toilet with the seat up and one with the seat down? brush size of 2 or of 5.
10:12:29 ER: Because one if never truly free from plot
10:32:36 Devastator: What?
10:32:39 Devastator: no pointlessness?
10:32:41 Devastator: ;-p
10:33:39 ER: also I got the idea and was attached to it, of wanting to try to draw a bathroom on a grid. :P
10:35:31 ER: what are the classical colors of anime hair?
10:35:49 ER: red, blue, green, purple, pink. missing anything important?
10:35:57 Devastator: Yellow.
10:36:08 ER: (this is not for tactical hell :P)
10:36:36 ER: Yellow is pretty much representing an existing real world hair color, though
10:36:52 ER: I mean, I guess red is too, but it seems different to me
10:37:29 Devastator: Nah, yellow is definately included.
10:55:18 syv: Call yellow "gold" then.
10:55:33 syv: Blsck is definitely important, it means "generic".
10:55:41 syv: White is important too.
10:55:51 ER: black in less generic than brown
10:55:55 syv: Just throw the whole damn rainbow in there, it's pretty much all used.
10:56:01 syv: It's more generic in Japan.
10:56:08 syv: Virtually everyone has black hair.
10:57:20 ER: anyway, as I'm modifying an already existing human race to have anime hair, I'll exclude black and brown as that's presumably what they already have.
11:00:08 Devastator: Don't forget the spikes.
11:00:33 Devastator: Yay, I hurt someone with my flashlight.
11:00:36 Devastator: Doing good so far.
11:01:46 ER: my first instinct was that you were playing teleglitch and I was very confused how you got a flashlight
11:02:00 Devastator: Nah, in Mook.
11:02:05 Devastator: Spuds is doin' great.
11:03:16 syv: I suggest you straight up give their haie magical levitation abilities.
11:03:29 syv: Or maybe give it the consistency of slight damp clay.
11:03:54 syv: Something that allows it to be modelled however the user pleases, be it in spikes, or spiraling drills.
11:04:33 Devastator: "Find Crate" should work in Mooks.
11:04:35 Devastator: ..
11:04:46 Devastator: I'll go add a line to 'don't find red barrel.'
11:07:07 Devastator: ..If we get between-mission time, the first thing I'm going to do is get two red barrels and lock them in a room, to see if they breed.
11:07:17 ER: MJ asked to be CCed the Tactical Hell test. Is that alright with you, syv?
11:08:23 syv: Of cours.
11:08:48 ER: Alright, Devastator, would you like to have it CCed to you as well?
11:09:15 syv: I'm sure Piecewise will oblige you, Dev. He seems like the sort of person who'd be into barrel sex.
11:09:59 Devastator: Nah, that's fine.
11:10:08 Devastator: I'll read the out-of-context results on here.
11:10:33 ER: that sounds considerably less fun to be honest
11:10:44 Devastator: Okay, sure, then.
11:11:02 ER: k :P
11:11:43 syv: No, no, leave him out.
11:12:07 syv: I'll get to brag about my plans more effectively if he doesn't know what they consist of, or their results.
11:12:12 Devastator: I don't have strong feelings desiring to be excluded from the CC list.
11:12:21 Devastator: I'll try to exercise restraint and shut up.
11:12:25 ER: https://youtu.be/GFQYaoiIFh8?list=PLxj5_BBc8GI250BXTWqGmJHC1eG-ivjy6
11:12:50 ER: well now you've gone and made it up to me
11:18:53 syv: One of my YT recommendeds is Super Mario 64, with every single object turned into coins.
11:19:03 ER: cool
11:19:35 Devastator: ok.
11:19:45 syv: What's with the explosion of Mario coin related challenges?
11:20:14 Devastator: Youtube algorithms controlling what people watch, probably. ;-p
11:20:25 Devastator: but nah, very popular speedrun, and youtube speedrunning has picked up.
11:20:39 ER: Sent.
11:20:51 ER: not to dev
11:22:42 Devastator: aww.
11:22:44 Devastator: ok.
11:24:30 syv: Aww, I don't get my SVD?
11:24:33 syv: :(
11:24:56 syv: Can I use my hoodie as a parry tool, or must I use a knife or something?
11:24:57 ER: Unfortunately not.
11:25:26 ER: You have your hoodie, and the stats you gave for it as a parry tool are fine by me
11:26:08 syv: Hmm. Would I have my folding knife, wallet, phone, etc?
11:26:27 syv: Knife isn't exactly useful as a weapon, but is a cutting edge. Phone... is probably useless.
11:26:40 ER: Just your clothes and the mask.
11:26:47 syv: Okay.
11:32:17 syv: Action sent.
11:34:19 syv: I'd recommend keeping the wordcount down. Or trying to, I know that's hard.
11:35:39 ER: Combat will be pretty heavy on the little notification boxes, as it's pretty mechanical.
11:37:17 syv: This objects-are-coins video is mostly just a showcase of how damn good SimpleFlips is at the game.
11:38:14 syv: There's a ton of exceptions right off which make it clear that no, you can't beat the game if ALL objects are coins, but the number of tricks SimpleFlips does to maximize the coin-object-transformations is very ((impressive.
11:40:32 Devastator: Yeah, I looked at that, and as soon as they said they converted Bowser levels over, I got less interested.
11:40:40 Devastator: (because it meant the answer would be yes.)
11:41:01 syv: Yeah. "No, but we'll change things until we can."
11:43:26 Devastator: Simple is pretty impressive, though.
11:44:04 Devastator: Bowser's sub isn't required, though.
11:44:12 Devastator: Simple can pull off the zero-star route.
11:45:58 syv: Wow. Okay, so Lethal Lava Land is made harder because most of the actual land in the level is objects, and much of the rest of the land is objects that allow invisible land to be seen.
11:46:18 syv: Buuut it's the first level to have 100% star completion despite that.
12:24:06 ER: ...that feel when you draw a whole lot on the wrong layer :P
12:24:52 syv: why must you draw
12:25:39 ER: because it's a grid based game?
12:25:53 ER: this isn't details, just putting up the walls
12:28:03 ER: also, for fun :P
12:30:08 syv: Stop having fun and update faster
12:30:39 ER: it'll be faster once I have the whole map and can just move people around...
12:35:07 syv: Okay.
12:46:27 syv has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
12:48:21 Devastator: Aww, the man who invented Dodecahedrane died.
13:58:47 ER: well MOOK just gained an anceint loli character for some reason
14:08:16 Devastator: Nothing wrong with that.
14:08:26 Devastator: although the PR guy may be meeting a red barrel.
14:10:45 Devastator: That's Tric for ya, though. The guy who I was complaining about in Nak's game.
14:11:05 ER: you were complaining about him?
14:12:22 Devastator: Yeah.
14:12:45 Devastator: "The one skill I took is only giving me two levels worth of stat points. I wanted four levels worth of stats."
14:13:25 Devastator: (You start with four skills, and get several a level. They're much weaker than stats.)
14:14:05 ER: sounds like a lot of inflation to be honest
14:15:17 ER: Oh yeah, syv got a perfect roll
14:15:38 Devastator: Nak's been capping it due to having excess hubris lead to death.
14:16:02 ER: three sixes, plus stat bonus of five, minus difficulty of four
14:16:04 Devastator: As well as loose interpretations and light GM fiat.. the numbers aren't super hard.
14:16:06 Devastator: Yow.
14:16:59 ER: Which was actually enough that I had to go back and add something to the map after I had already saved and uploaded it :P
14:17:39 ER: fuzzy locations of sounds outside his line of sight
14:21:48 Devastator: good rolls, that.
14:22:36 ER: Yeah.
14:33:36 Devastator: Hmm, apparently something happeend.
14:33:55 ER: something?
14:34:16 Devastator: Yeah, I have no idea. I'll find out in a few days.
14:34:37 Devastator: http://youtu.be/mMAnujTYldc
14:34:41 Devastator: I'd rather watch this, anyway.
14:36:58 ER: good sidehopping
14:37:35 Devastator: lotsa rolling.
14:37:38 ER: one of my favorite games too
14:39:40 Devastator: Never played it myself.
14:39:48 ER: twin clawshots is one of the cooler zelda items :P
14:42:06 ER: ha, he just skips the desert boss by glitching through the gate
14:45:39 ER: also the game ends with ganondorf getting a sword shoved through his chest and dying so that's pretty good
14:47:03 Devastator: Was a cutscene skipped by dodging backwards across a bridge there?
14:47:11 Devastator: ..don't they all end that way?
14:47:57 ER: well, all the games with ganon are the SAME ganon. In this one he actually dies.
14:48:54 ER: he also actually dies in wing waker, by having a sword shoved through his forehead. It's actual permanant death in both games though, because they're different timelines.
14:50:26 Devastator: As if anyone knows that.
14:50:41 Devastator: (I am aware of a psychotic community that tries to figure that out.)
14:50:50 ER: ...
14:51:08 ER: They released a timeline with skyward sword
14:52:04 ER: it's actual canon that ocarina of time splits the universe into three timelines at the end thanks to time magic shenanigans
14:52:58 Devastator: Eh.
14:54:23 ER: aw, I hope he doesn't skip every darknut battle
14:55:38 Devastator: I'unno.
14:56:38 Devastator: wolf teleport is a power?
14:59:37 Devastator: Oh, there's a commentated version.
15:05:20 ER: was probably a more fun when I was young though. The bosses are some of the most impressive looking bosses I've ever seen, they're fairly simple to fight. Like, just the dungeon item 3 times.
15:08:36 Devastator: So is anaconda going to get babies this time? ;-p
15:08:48 ER: damn better
15:09:52 Devastator: (1+2) (1)
15:10:08 Devastator: You get a baby. And it's just a snake. Sure, a giant snake, but still just a snake.
15:11:45 ER: what, don't tell me they skip the water temple entirely :(
15:11:49 Devastator: A frog is fought at about 36 minutes.
15:14:14 ER: but where's the brilliant giant underwater underground massive sea serpant fight?
15:15:48 ER: oh, they go and kill shadow bugs in kakriko after that. Yeah there's some massive sequence breaking here
15:22:01 ER: https://youtu.be/mMAnujTYldc?t=1178 this puzzle was annoying as shit though
15:28:06 Piecewise has joined #einsteinianroulette
15:29:48 ER: ah, so he just does some crazy wolfjumps right at the start of the game to get from the regular spooky woods to the even spookier woods so that he can get the master sword which happens to also let him turn into a wolf and into not-a-wolf at will
15:30:52 ER: which presumably opens up some *interesting* options that early in the game
15:31:40 Devastator: Heya PW.
15:32:07 Devastator: Didn't Okami show it's always better to just be a wolf all game? ;-p
15:32:47 ER: being a wolf is pretty rad
15:33:13 Devastator: (Watching a Twilight Princess TAS, PW.)
15:33:47 ER: also twilight princess is pretty much nintendo saying "let's make a zelda game but half of it's okami"
15:33:53 ER: this is totally accurate
15:34:22 ER: I know cause my uncle works in nintendo, you see
15:35:15 Devastator: I think TP came out first, actually.
15:35:24 Devastator: They were both GC, right?
15:35:58 ER: buh... think Okami was on PS2?
15:36:18 Devastator: Multiplatform game.
15:36:30 Devastator: I know Okami had a GC port because that's what I played it on.
15:36:41 ER: TP came out at right about the same time as the wii, I feel like it was the big launch game for the wii
15:36:58 ER: came out on GC too of cource
15:37:17 ER: okami was later ported to the wii... I dunno?
15:37:37 ER: that's what I played both of them on :P
15:37:48 Devastator: Huh..
15:38:02 Devastator: Wiki doesn't list it on the gamecube, but I never had an xbox or a PS2.
15:38:12 Devastator: so what the fuck did I play it on?
15:38:32 ER: it got onto steam just recently :P
15:38:33 Devastator: Must have been a Wii.
15:38:47 Devastator: Stupid brain, misremembering stuff.
15:38:55 ER: yeah
15:39:37 ER: doing the slice brush strokes with the wii remote was pretty fun
15:40:15 ER: had to sweep it fast because the game wouldn't realize you're trying to do a slash if the line's not straight :V
15:40:17 Devastator: Ahh, had a gamecube controller.
15:40:25 ER: makes sense
15:40:35 Devastator: That must be why I didn't remember it. Fuck the remotes. ;-p
15:41:10 ER: ah, they're good fun though! ;P
15:41:11 Devastator: been a long time anyway.
15:41:29 Devastator: don't think I finished it.
15:41:34 Devastator: didn't have that much time to play those days.
15:41:44 ER: flail wildly at the screen to hit the enemies!
15:43:03 Devastator: Was TP first?
15:43:39 ER: you purify all the lands and some messed up time travel shit happens then suddenly you're on a space ship and you're fighting a giant orb? and it steals your power? but then you defeat it with a classic dragonball z style spirit bomb, calling on everyone you met before to believe in you can then the game's over.
15:44:50 Devastator: Ahh, ending #11 then.
15:46:19 Devastator: okay, one hour in, and he's repeatedly dropping bombs into a lake for seemingly no purpose.
15:46:28 ER: yes
15:47:54 Devastator: 28 of them.
15:48:46 Devastator: oh, I do have a question about Mook, Piecewise.
15:49:00 Devastator: Are there going to be inexplicable crates and barrels about? Like a doom level?
15:49:34 Piecewise: explosive or otherwise?
15:50:28 ER: yes.
15:50:40 Piecewise: Also, there might be an inexplicable Crate & Barrel around, but thats for other purposes
15:50:42 Piecewise: https://www.crateandbarrel.com/
15:50:51 Devastator: I'm looking for a non-explosive one, but I'd like to know if there are explosive ones about too.
15:51:44 Devastator: And if so, if shoving two of them in a closet will lead to them breeding. ;-p
15:58:16 Devastator: There's your water dungeon.
15:58:18 Devastator: it's just out of order.
16:05:39 Piecewise: Its a good question
16:05:42 Piecewise: I have no idea
16:06:34 Devastator: sounds like an experiment, then.
16:06:46 Devastator: maybe in the closet of someone I don't like. ;-p
16:07:03 ER: aka anyone?
16:07:29 Devastator: Eh, not too annoyed by anyone, except the PR guy.
16:07:32 Devastator: who happens to be a loli.
16:07:48 Devastator: Always bad to be near PR supervisors. They're good at passing the blame.
16:08:21 Devastator: Game's young, though.
16:08:55 ER: heh.
16:09:30 ER: Clem's attitude is disgust by default, as you might have noticed.
16:09:57 Devastator: No big deal that.
16:15:32 ER: feel like other people take that attitude too
16:16:19 Devastator: Yeah. Worried about 'things that look fatal' right now.
16:17:21 Devastator: A boss giving you a shit job here is fatal.
16:18:27 ER: ...Clem also doesn't care much about dying.
16:18:53 ER: Basically died once already, then decided to stick with the same job...
16:21:06 Devastator: ok.
16:21:11 Devastator: So don't stand next to Clem, then.
16:24:24 ER: probably not a great idea
16:41:59 Devastator: That sky temple or whatever it was was amazing.
16:49:30 Piecewise: which one?
16:51:29 Devastator: in the TAS I'm watching.
16:51:34 Devastator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMAnujTYldc
16:52:33 ER: hmm I was doing something and then I forgot I was doing it
16:58:13 Piecewise: Ah, legend of zelda: Shortstack edition
17:01:16 Devastator: Never played it.
17:01:27 Devastator: So shortstack is the weird tagalong?
17:03:10 ER: the other great thing about TP's ending besides running ganondorf through with a sword is that the tutorial buddy turns into a hot chick right at the end
17:03:32 ER: and link is kinda like "wut"
17:05:03 Devastator: literally or figuratively?
17:05:22 ER: how could that be figurative?
17:06:09 Devastator: They just encountered each other.
17:06:15 Devastator: but didn't run into each other literally.
17:34:33 Devastator: Got to the ending.
17:34:36 Devastator: Yeah, he'll be okay.
17:40:10 Piecewise: Shortstack is midna
17:50:08 Devastator: I don't know any names.
17:54:06 Piecewise: https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/934/823/8a3.png
17:54:07 Piecewise: That one
17:56:17 Devastator: Yeah, that weird tagalong.
18:06:15 ER: https://youtu.be/NEgwxGWgiIg
18:14:05 Devastator: Unfortunately no infinite sword glitch.
18:35:27 ER: unlimited blade works!
18:36:44 Devastator: https://interactive.guim.co.uk/embed/2014/apr/image-opacity-slider-master/index.html?ww2-dday
18:42:43 ER: interested mostly in the architecture really
18:43:12 ER: interestng to see what sort of things change over that amount of time and what things don't
18:43:48 ER: the buildings are the same, but the signs and sidewalks are totally different.
18:45:51 Devastator: Yeah.
18:46:30 ER: that church took quite a bit of battle damage but seems to have been restored seamlessly.
19:15:50 Devastator: I suspect it took some time for the flora to recolonize it. ;-p
19:20:28 Devastator: :D
19:20:31 Devastator: Great xkcd today.
