01:14:33 Devastator: Not that much. Two more days of work and then I'm off.
01:14:48 Devastator:
PW's travelling, and I was going to stream for him tonight if he was available, but he's gone.
01:16:16 Devastator: going with you, sounds like a good suggestion.
01:24:52 ER: congrats, you now have the claws of a wolverine. This might be detremental to any tasks which require fingers.
01:25:59 Devastator: I think the comic character debued at the time of the game.
01:26:26 Devastator: you know, unbreakable bones might be handy.
01:36:11 Devastator: It would stick with you.
01:51:04 Devastator: Oh, I didn't give you an interesting fact.
01:52:33 Devastator: The dock in question is made out of wood and floats on the water. You've seen docks like that, but you generally have rocks under them. Ones that float are for small boats, but you don't see one here.
02:09:55 ER: not particularly interested to learn the real answer, having never watched got
02:11:07 Devastator: "Not great but it gets some stuff right."

02:21:59 syv: I beat Scorchee Contract a little while back.
02:22:16 Devastator: What's that game you were bugging at me to play?
02:22:34 ER: scorchee is a better name for the player than for the mod~
02:22:42 syv: Most recently, the Attack on Titan tribute game. There's been a number though.
02:23:09 syv: Scorched Contract, whatever.
02:23:26 syv: Did you ever get around to beating O&S
02:24:26 ER: nah, Don't even have the mod on this comp. Only started playing again like a week ago
02:29:24 ER: You can go back on any mod if you keep a backup.
02:29:43 ER: And this isn't even the same computer as the one I was playing SC on
02:29:45 Devastator: more personally than practically.
02:31:11 Devastator: What mod was that you were playing that had limited life,
syv?
02:32:08 ER: you mean the one where you're constantly bleeding?
02:32:31 syv: Uhh. What? Limited life? SC halved the player's life three times, and had a Vit-dependant % reduction that was only about 20% for me.
02:33:05 syv: Oh. Bleeder Curse was fun, it constantly drained HP (SC also did this...) but gave you OP heal-on-hit weapons and consumables to cope.
02:33:25 syv: Also, it constantly buffed you rather than constantly debuffing you, the opposite of SC.
02:34:31 syv: Bleeder curse is a great mod, though.
ER would like it, especially the Bloodlust Saw. That was just a stupid fun weapon.
02:36:07 Devastator: Does it sound like a chainsaw?
02:37:24 syv: It's a straight sword which uses the Butcher Knife's strong attacks, and they're *great*, especially when paired with the SS moveset.
02:38:14 syv: I used the Bloodlust Knife as my offhand weapon, and it uses the Gold Tracer moveset, so it paired amazingly well. Just a wonderful setup.
02:44:32 syv: So what are you doing in DaS,
ER?
02:45:54 ER: Uh, I decided to make a new character and be a generic knight/sorcerer noob character.
02:46:24 ER: But when I fought the bernike knight he dropped his chest armor, which was pretty awesome
02:46:49 syv: Ahh. Good ol' relaxed monster smashing.
02:47:14 syv: Stats aren't phenomenal, but it looks so good.
02:48:20 ER: Though the great big collar would kind of block the character's vision.
02:48:44 ER: When you block with a shield it just covers up one of your eyes
02:50:25 syv: For bonus blindness, wear the gold hemmed black hood.
02:50:33 ER: Also took the long way down to blighttown just because I like that eagle shield
02:51:27 ER: I don't think I died once up there. :P
02:52:11 ER: And I always grab all the loot that I can remember the location of.
02:52:37 syv: I died three times in BT on my SC run. Two of them being to falls.
02:52:49 syv: I also grabbed everything.
02:53:39 syv: ...I suddenly want to use a zweihander with the Iaito's moveset.
02:54:22 ER: that sounds dumb and you should do it
02:54:32 syv: Hell, why not give the *greataxe* that moveset?
02:55:40 syv: Bad for a katana, maybe, but it's not a bad moveset in general.
03:04:01 syv: 29 / 89 for Iaito moveset...
03:06:32 syv: Sadly, quickdrawing a zwei looks far too reasonable. It moves stupid fast, but the motion is almost believeable.
03:08:44 syv: Interestingly, neither the zwei nor GS parries when offhanded with the Iato moveset, but both use the fast slash attack.
03:11:45 syv: Swapping the zwei's moveset with the claw makes you hold the zwei in a reverse grip when it's offhanded.
03:12:32 Devastator: You know, I am fairly impressed at the compatability of these animations.
03:13:59 syv: It is a bit strange, yeah.
03:14:40 syv: The hurtboxes are all correct, too. If you do the claw's rolling attack with a greatsword, it's pointed off to your left side, and anything it touches will take damage.
03:15:31 Devastator: I suppose it's how it was built, with actions and animations being paramount.
03:17:27 syv: 30/125 for Gargoyle tail axe
03:18:29 syv: Sadly, the bending is apparently innate to the axe.
03:20:31 syv: It doesn't seem to bend with any other movesets, either. :(
03:21:17 syv: 20/ 73 for Priscilla Dagger.
03:23:28 syv: Apparently swinging a BKH around like a toothpick drains your entire stamina bar in an instant.
03:23:47 syv: It is ridiculously deadly, though.
03:25:10 ER: i am become blender, eater of souls
03:26:07 syv: Painting Guardian Sword is 28/101
03:27:12 syv: Aaaand that murders everything within ten feet.
03:29:51 syv: Greataxe is 32/0, interestingly.
03:32:48 syv: Interestingly, its R2s still pancake regardless of used moveset.
03:34:15 Devastator: So what do the numbers mean?
03:35:46 syv: Every weapon has normal attack animations and special attack animations. First is all R1 animations, second is all R2 animations.
03:36:23 syv: "32" is just the internal number the game uses to keep track of a weapon using the greataxe light attack moveset.
03:37:50 syv: Huh. Swapping the Greast Scythe to use special moveset 0, while still on Iaito, makes it just use the default katana R2s, rather than the Greataxe R2s.
03:38:05 syv: So I guess 0 just means "Whatever the default is"
03:39:06 ER: like, 0 is "default by weapon type"?
03:40:14 syv: Default by light attack moveset, which is essentially weapon type? Or at least the closest thing the game has to actually tracking that.
03:41:17 ER: does it not internally track straight sword vs greatsword, vs ugreatsword?
03:43:18 syv: Nope. It tracks damage type, AR, 1H holding style, 2H holding style, R1 animations, R2 animations, and model I guess.
03:43:45 syv: 't let me screw with the model. Or, the table I'm using doesn't.
03:44:33 ER: do all 1h animations do the same damage for a given AR?
03:45:03 syv: I'll test to be sure once it loads back up, but I'm 99% sure.
03:45:34 syv: Every attack has its own internal damage multiplier, from what I recall.
03:45:49 ER: DS is wonky enough that AR seems kind of like just a guideline for how much damage something does.
03:46:09 ER: if you want to find out how good a weapon is, you really have to try it.
03:46:24 syv: Heh. Yeah. Did you know that different areas have damage multipliers?
03:46:44 ER: you mean like different game areas?
03:46:48 syv: You'll do different damage to the exact same hollow in Undead Burg vs Anor Londo.
03:47:11 syv: Plus, they also have variable levels, which affects it again.
03:47:41 ER: I noticed that enemies with the same model took different amounts of damage from each other, but I assumed they just had different stats
03:47:51 syv: 329/430 for Murakumo default 1H R1/R2 on a bloathead.
03:48:19 Devastator: Those are some high numbers.
03:48:32 Devastator: I wonder if it means you can tell which weapons were implemented early and which ones were added late.
03:48:44 ER: the undead solider next to firelink is weaker than the two by undead parish bonfire
03:49:39 syv: Huh. Swapping it to greataxe moveset (32/0) resulted in 100% identical numbers.
03:50:55 syv: Same results, except I also got some counter damage boosts. Maybe that was default instability.
03:51:42 ER: instability frames: yet another unexplained gameplay mechanic
03:52:33 ER: wait, does the rapier get more counter damage than other thrusting weapons?
03:52:51 syv: I know that there's attack animation mulitipliers, the guy who figured out the damage calculation that the game uses said that it figures in.
03:53:18 syv: No, but it's a thrust weapon, while murakumo is slash.
03:53:29 syv: ...Wait, that only matters with Leo ring, doesn't it?
03:54:13 ER: iirc everything just loses a bunch of thrusting damage resistence while in attack frames.
03:54:26 ER: I assume it would be the same
03:56:05 syv: Okay, swapped the murakumo to the BKH's moveset (38/112), it dealt 370/483 damage for 1H R1 and R2.
03:56:19 syv: BKGA will probably be a reduction.
03:56:44 ER: I really don't know why from felt the need to make such a complex damage calculation.
03:58:22 syv: 32/107 kumo does... 329/430 again.
03:58:42 syv: So the BKH has a damage buff, but the BKGA is merely... normal?
03:58:54 Devastator: Well, it's From software, not To software.
03:59:58 Devastator: Any of you guys play SMAC?
04:03:16 syv: Modding a zwei and washing pole to have 0 scaling and 100AR, they both do 125 on a 1hr1, but r2s vary.
04:04:23 syv: 186 vs 212, in favor of the katana's stab.
04:05:42 syv: Murakumo does 430 with katana stab, still.
04:05:48 ER:
dev confirmed for zerolenny alias
04:07:02 syv: ...And it still does 430 with the zwei's R2 smash.
04:07:47 Devastator: What's the proper name for it?
04:08:43 syv: 23/0, which I'm pretty sure is just standard straight sword.
04:09:26 syv: 107/186 damage at 100 AR with 0 scaling, 1hr1/r2
04:10:03 syv: So the stab R2 is equal to a greatsword smash, inferior to katana stab, slash is worse than greatsword or katana slash.
04:10:33 ER: longsword and broadsword are the same except for the r2 move. Which one of them is /0, being the "default" stright sword r2?
04:11:20 syv: Stab is 0, so stab is default.
04:11:43 syv: The sunlight straight sword, longsword, and one other sword are all identical, so no surprise.
04:12:00 syv: ...Then again, hilt, shortswordsword, and kirksword all use the broadsword attack, so...
04:12:06 ER: okay, what about the stabs on greatsword and ugs then?
04:12:25 syv: Kumo damage is unmodified swapping to SS animations.
04:12:59 ER: claymore/bastard sword, greatsword/zweihander
04:13:31 syv: Will test, also will test BSS since I have that and it's in the same class as the broken SS.
04:13:55 Devastator: I suppose crashes are to be expected from all the hotswapping.
04:14:14 syv: Actually, no, it's just a bug in the CE table.
04:14:46 syv: If I change a value using the wrong method it'll open a unclosable dialog which prevents interaction.
04:15:13 syv: Also, I'm warping to stone dragon so I don't have to worry about instability.
04:17:46 syv: 74/151 on stone dragon from BrSS
04:18:03 syv: 90/162 on him from greatsword.
04:20:36 syv: BaSS is also 23/54, while the BrSS is 23/0
04:21:43 ER: the broke sword has a stab?
04:22:16 syv: The stab is the only good move it has, really.
04:23:06 Devastator: assuming it has any good moves..
04:23:45 syv: It is a genuinely good move.
04:23:58 syv: I've done PvP with it, it's very useful.
04:25:13 syv: Crystal longsword+5 does 90/174.
04:25:24 syv: The 74/151 was with a +15.
04:25:51 syv: Neither has scaling, both have the same power, but crystal does more damage.
04:25:59 ER: I've always been slightly annoyed that From made an unarmed move set, but put the sword hilt in your hand from the very start, with a description that literally says "at least it's better than punching things"
04:26:15 syv: And it does identical damage.
04:26:16 ER: and fists don't even get any form of scaling for some reason
04:26:28 syv: You can give them scaling easily, though!
04:26:35 Devastator: does it have a better moveset than fists?
04:26:49 syv: Fists are treated like any other weapon, so you can give them any movesets.
04:26:50 Devastator: and with no scaling, is the damage identical? I thought the sword hilt had some scaling.
04:26:58 Devastator: oh that sounds interesting.
04:27:02 syv: Yeah, both fist and hilt movesets suck.
04:27:16 syv: The scaling is too low to matter.
04:27:31 syv: Maybe if it's updraded, but I've never bothered.
04:27:35 ER: give your left fist the gold tracer moveset
04:28:49 ER: hell, do a playthrough where your fists have scaling and the claw and gold tracer movesets. :P
04:29:34 Devastator: Can you magic weapon your fists?
04:30:01 syv: Okay, so the shown AR is a derived number, and actually IS useful. The +0 longsword has an AR of 100, the +15 has an AR of 250, and crystal +5 has an AR of 270. Buuut internally, all of these have an identical damage stat of 100.
04:30:21 ER: if you give a weapon the claw moveset, does it turn your kick into a knee?
04:31:11 syv: A longsword and Balder side sword deal identical damage if they're the same upgrade type/level, and are R1ing, but the BSS gets a damage boost with R2s.
04:31:43 syv: You can't magic weapon fists, but you might be able to tumblebuff them.
04:32:20 ER: might be fun to do a run with sorcery and caestus. Magic pugilist!
04:32:58 syv: Oh, all weapons have three slots for on-hit enchants, and three for on-equip enchants. This is stuff like bleed, poison, toxic, HP drain (all on-hit), and health/stam regen, (both on-equip)
04:33:20 Devastator: "I can cast spells, but only ones that let me hit things better with my fists."
04:33:42 syv: IIRC the on-equip effects are shared with rings and armor, so it should also work for rusted iron walking, health reduction/increase, defense buffs, whatever.
04:34:19 syv: When you mod a weapon's moveset, you mod ALL instances of that weapon. So you can't dual wield two murakumos with different movesets... or two fists.
04:34:43 Devastator: Fist/fist sounds like it should be doable.
04:34:46 syv: But if you make the estoc have a greataxe moveset, then lady of the darkling will use that moveset.
04:35:01 syv: You could do caestus/fist.
04:35:35 syv: What was the next thing for me to try?
04:35:42 ER: what's the animation number for "cast a spell"?
04:36:10 syv: That's somewhere online, and I've seen it before, but it's not something I can screw with using the tools I have.
04:36:25 syv: Staves might have a moveset I can read from, though?
04:37:29 Devastator: How about the failed animations for not having sufficient stats for a weapon?
04:37:51 ER: oh, does that mean that catalysts actually do have an R1 move?
04:38:02 syv: It's the straight sword R1.
04:38:27 syv: Which isn't actually the catalyst R1, the game just gives straight sword moves whenever a moveset doesn't actually include anything.
04:38:41 syv: (I knew that already, but just tested and it does SS swings)
04:39:08 Devastator: Will it do something else if you swap the SS default move to something else?
04:39:14 ER: so what is it about a weapon that says you can cast a spell with it?
04:39:36 syv: The failed animations change, I noted that earlier when I was screwing with the BKH, which this char can't wield onehanded. Apparently daggers have a sad little slow stab for their failed animation.
04:40:09 Devastator: I wouldn't mind seeing the sad stab.
04:40:10 ER: when would you ever see that in game?
04:40:17 syv: I can't swap what the SS default animation is,
Dev. I can only change the number that points to a moveset, can't alter the movesets themselves with these tools.
04:40:39 Devastator: okay, so it defaults to, say, Moveset 11, not Moveset Straight Sword.
04:40:41 syv:
ER, I have no idea what says whether you can cast spells. Nothing I have access to.
04:40:44 ER: if you fail dexterity it's just the normal animation, right?
04:41:48 syv: You'd never see the failed dagger animation because you can't have that little strength. I think. Failing dex only makes it bouncy and weak, doesn't change the animation... I think.
04:42:06 syv:
Dev, it defaults to moveset 23 to fill any gaps in the given animation, yes.
04:42:25 ER: wish there was a different animation for failing dex. That could be hilarious.
04:42:48 syv: Oh, my kumo does have the sad little slam R2 of catalysts.
04:43:49 syv: Just tested to be sure, jacked dex req up to 99, same animation, virtually no damage and it bounces.
04:44:00 Devastator: What's a failed catalyst look like?
04:44:30 Devastator: a catalyst requiring too much strength.
04:44:31 ER: there is the animation for being unable to cast the spell
04:45:47 syv: The R2 uses the SS failure animation, the R1 uses the "can't cast this" animation.
04:46:00 syv: ...But this char can't cast anything anyway, and has no attunement, so y'know.
04:46:22 Devastator: sadly, it's a popular enough game that there aren't going to be any secret animations.
04:46:37 syv: There are, but they've all been found.
04:46:44 syv: Priscilla sits down and it's adorable.
04:47:08 ER: if they're secret, how can you know they've all been found? :P:
04:47:18 Devastator: Got a link to that one?
04:47:46 syv: I pumped my char up, he can now cast soul arrow easily, despite his catalyst requiring 99 str and 99 dex to wield.
04:47:56 syv: Not offhand, but I could find it.
04:48:10 Devastator: I'd bet they didn't go to the point of encoding any into the binaries, so I don't think there would be any that were unfindable.
04:48:13 syv: She also has a run animation, which you don't see in normal gameplay.
04:48:24 Devastator: It's what she's in while invisible?
04:48:51 ER: no, she walks while invisible, right?
04:49:20 syv: I saw the run in a boss vs boss video, where they pit a bunch of bosses against Gwyndolin.
04:50:14 ER: could you find a video of the failed dagger animation?
04:50:17 syv: You could probably google "Dark souls unused animations" for the sitting. I think Vaatividya did some good videos on it.
04:50:36 syv: No, I don't think I've seen it before today.
04:51:16 syv: Bare fistd are 42/0, gold tracer is 28/132
04:51:51 syv: Giving fists the tracer moveset makes them trail golden stuff.
04:53:16 syv: The length of the trail scales with the weapon. Murakumo tracer is kinda blinding, and also is capable of blocking.
04:53:29 Devastator: Hmm, big weapons have big trails, then?
04:53:38 Devastator: How about the dragon fang thing?
04:54:14 Devastator: Yeah, it's a bug. It pays you 50 credits.
04:54:47 ER: is it just stacking enough reductions to the amount he wants that it goes negative?
04:54:58 syv: do you mean the dragon fang hammer used by havel, or one of the giant dragon swords?
04:55:35 Devastator: I don't know how it works. That's the first I've ever heard of that bug.
04:55:42 Devastator: reading some playthroughs of it at the moment.
04:56:13 ER: put the tracer on the tooth
04:56:30 syv: Seems to only scale the effect with length.
04:56:53 syv: So the SKS is about as blinding as it'll get. Maybe the demon's spear would be worse...
04:58:37 Devastator: Yeah. Those are on successive turns.
04:58:41 Devastator: He seems to be stuck in a loop.
04:59:05 Devastator: Player acquires a tech through stealing, trading, or research, Morgan offers him a map for that new tech. On each of three successive turns.
04:59:21 syv: I meant the spears, but the pics you linked also look similar.
04:59:33 syv: That... doesn't seem all that broken.
04:59:47 syv: He has maps, you have a thing he wants, he asks toctrade as often as possible.
04:59:55 ER: he just wants that bleedin' tech!
05:00:06 Devastator: It's not broken, it's just amusing seeing it happen every single turn. In game, it pops up immediately upon you acquiring the tech, IIRC.
05:00:18 Devastator: so in the middle of your turn, he dials you up.
05:01:33 Devastator: Yeah. Technically, the player would find out every turn, but not -during- the opponent's turn.
05:01:42 syv: Oh! There's a failed parry animation for the dagger, too!
05:03:22 syv: It does not seem to have any parry frames.
05:04:38 syv: Or... maybe it does. Need to play at 1% speed, I guess. -.-
05:04:58 Devastator: one frame instead of, say, six?
05:05:37 syv: Can't tell. I just know that it does cause sparks on walls, and parry tools only cause sparks during parry frames.
05:05:56 syv: It's just really slow and the soarks happen in the middle, so maybe it's only one or two frames.
05:06:41 ER: so if you're not very dextrious, you have to be frame-perfect. ;P
05:08:10 Devastator: substituting character dex with player dex.
05:10:50 syv: 10% speed isn;t cutting it, so 1% speed.
05:10:57 ER: I think of player skill as being a seperate set of things from character skill.
05:11:11 Devastator: Is a partial additional parry frames?
05:11:23 Devastator: or where you miss by one?
05:12:03 syv: The latter, kinda. I think it's equal in fra,es to the parry timing.
05:12:15 Devastator: Seems to be running into these.
05:12:33 syv: It essentially counts as a block with half stability and damage reduction.
05:12:58 syv: Another partial at 1%, but no parry.
05:14:19 Devastator: ..maybe it only partials.
05:14:59 ER: do partial frames make sparks? :P
05:15:25 syv: They drain all your stamina and make a different noise.
05:16:07 Devastator: How'd you find out for sure?
05:16:35 ER: and daggers don't have a lot of stability or damage reduction
05:16:37 syv: For 99% of the animation, my stamina bar is at full. I'm being hit constantly by three hollows, at a very high rate.
05:17:17 syv: Just at the moment where my chsr starts to draw the dagger to the side--which is where it creates sparks--my stamina starts draining from hits, until empty, and them stays emoty for awhile.
05:17:32 Devastator: Ahh, so multiple frames of partials, but no actual parries.
05:17:34 syv: Then after a few seconds, stamina goes back to full.
05:17:47 syv: It might be one frame. This is 1% speed.
05:17:59 syv: My char STILL isn't done with the animation.
05:18:17 Devastator: Oh, only the character goes at 1% speed.
05:18:54 Devastator: "And the big news out of that encounter was Morgan lending me the majority of his extra starting money. This is ferociously stupid on the AI's part. That's an interest rate of 0.5% per year, which would be terrible in any 4X game but particularly so in SMAC. The return-on-investment for anything good in this game is something like 10% per year, doubling every 8 to 10 or so turns. Morgan just...
05:18:56 Devastator: ...wasted his faction's entire advantage and handed it to me instead."
05:19:23 syv: 1% speed parry with the heater shield us great.
05:20:00 Devastator: bong! bong! bong! bong!
05:20:32 syv: Is 0.5% per year even useful IRL?
05:20:49 Devastator: Not really. It's where you'd put retirement funds if you have enough money for the rest of your life.
05:20:52 syv: Thought that was lower than inflation.
05:22:02 Devastator: So what's the heater shield parry like?
05:22:05 Devastator: everyone just bounces off?
05:25:05 syv: Yrah, until the parry frames run out.
05:25:29 syv: Sound effects go from the fleshy wound sounds to the deep parry sound.
05:25:42 Devastator: What's a frontstab look like at 1% speed?
05:25:50 syv: Interestingly, the wound noises don't return until the animation finishes, implying I'm invulnerable.
05:25:52 Devastator: (except you can't do them.)
05:27:02 syv: It immediately sets my speed to the target's speed, 1%.
05:27:23 syv: Need to edit the global speed, and that;s annoyinf to do.
05:27:36 Devastator: Too bad, a frontstab taking 100 times longer would be hilarious.
05:28:02 syv: I could get a video tomorrow, if you'd like.
05:28:10 syv: Along with the dagger animations, I guess.
05:28:13 Devastator: Maybe, if I remember it.
05:28:51 syv:
ER, any stupid hacks you want to see?
05:29:44 ER: uh, give fists b/b scaling and tracer moveset, and just play the game like that for a bit
05:31:17 syv: Can do, if you're available to watch before, oh, 1500 my time. It's 0033 ATM.
05:31:41 Devastator: Only before that. I've got work tomorrow.
05:31:46 Devastator: and then that's it.
05:32:39 syv has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
05:37:02 Devastator: That's the playthroughs I've been reading, btw.
06:33:33 Devastator: And a special thanks to Jemmysponz’s (now late) Dakota the Golden Retriever for
06:33:34 Devastator: modeling. You know an update has taken too long when a collaborator dies of old age.
06:35:07 Devastator: ..That really was almost two years.
08:59:06 Devastator: I should show that to
syv.
08:59:15 Devastator: I don't think he'll understand, but that's okay.
08:59:48 Devastator: I have no idea if you'll understand or not.
08:59:57 ER: is that like that story where everyone becomes immortal and just plays football on state level scale for fun?
09:00:47 Devastator: It predates that story.
09:00:56 Devastator: this is the origin of that particular degree of madness.
09:01:54 Devastator: Also, nobody in toronto gives a #### about the Argos.

13:00:11 Devastator: I dearly hope you did not click on that earlier link.
13:04:10 Devastator: It's.. weird and a lot longer than I remembered.
13:04:42 Devastator: thought it was maybe an hours reading, instead of several hours.
13:07:05 syv: I read the first chapter, actually.
13:07:16 Devastator: Probably the best idea to stop there.
13:07:20 syv: Took me a sadly long time to realize it was wholly fictional.
13:08:37 Devastator: What tipped you off?
13:09:17 Devastator: Not the seein' tower?
13:09:35 Devastator: There was some talk about Tebow joining the CFL for a time.
13:09:41 syv: Nope. Image looked weird, but I wasn't paying close attention.
13:10:34 Devastator: Well.. the tallest building in Toronto is called the CN tower, and Canadians usually pronounce acronyms as their individual letters.
13:11:29 syv: Yeah, calling a building "Seein" isn't particularly unbelievable.
13:13:12 syv: How long will you be around?
13:13:26 Devastator: Hour or so. Maybe a bit longer. Got some good sleep this weekend.
13:14:29 Devastator: A few of the CFL rules are suprisingly correct, mostly because Bois knew his audience wouldn't know the difference immediately.
13:15:00 syv: Okay. I saw that you meant you'd be available *before* 1500 my time, not after, so I can do a stream today or tomorrow. Or Thursday. Gonna wait for
ER to tell me when though.
13:15:34 syv: Is the thing about getting a point for kicking into the end zone real?
13:19:41 Devastator: It has to go through the end zone, though, or be recovered by the recieving team and downed in the end zone.
13:20:28 Devastator: If they get it out of the end zone, there is no point scored.
13:22:45 Devastator: Bigger changes are the 30 second play clock, the 3-down system, and the free movement of all backfield offensive players before the snap.
13:23:38 syv: I know what virtually none of that even means.
13:24:06 Devastator: american football gives teams ten more seconds between each play, which makes it easier to run the clock down, as well as one more down per series of downs.
13:24:22 Devastator: Also, all their players, save one, have to be fixed in place before the ball is snapped to start the play.
13:24:22 syv: Oh, the other thing that struck me as weird about that story. The guy claims to be a Floridian, but never once complained about the cold.
13:24:41 Devastator: I think it starts during summer.
13:24:46 Devastator: the season starts earlier in the CFL.
13:25:03 syv: How hot does it get during summer?
13:25:29 Devastator: Cooler than the south, but days over 90 degrees aren't rare.
13:26:45 Devastator: Oh, also kickoffs and punts are almost always returned due to rules differences, so that's presented as the opposite of reality.
13:28:15 Devastator: Oh, they cut the clock time from 30 seconds to 20 seconds. That's going to make it fun.
13:34:09 syv: Wow, 50 gigs for the 720p version of Jormungand with this particular torrent. You can get a 65 gig 1080p from a different group...
13:38:14 syv: The group is apparently "ASS SUBS", but their torrents are marked with the initials of the people who actually worked on it.
13:39:05 Devastator: Of course. It's torrented by a group called 'subs' after all.
13:39:09 Devastator: What else would you expect?
13:39:32 syv: Considering the number of times I've gotten the wrong language, I'd expect subs.
13:39:48 syv: It is dual-audio, I guess.
13:44:40 Devastator: use both audio tracks.
13:46:00 syv: I don't know how but I want to/
13:47:07 Devastator: There's some complicated ways, but you can open an instance twice, turn off the video track on one of them, and set them both to each play one audio track.
13:48:33 syv: The English VAs are much louder.
13:49:20 syv: They also just sound better.
13:49:22 Devastator: You can adjust the volume of each individual playback seperately.
13:52:32 syv: Yeah, the Jap VAs just sound... bored.
13:52:35 Devastator: I suppose the episodes are better when you can at least slightly understand them.
13:52:59 Devastator: That could be the usual Japanese practice of never sounding too emotional, unless drunk.
13:53:06 syv: I'm a fast reader, subs don't bug me. I just hate how their voices sound.
13:53:31 syv: If it were Russian I'd probably prefer subs. :P
13:54:28 Devastator: I usually like subs.
13:54:31 Devastator: but dubs can be fine.
