08:32:06 syv: Eh. Good animation, good art, especially the guns, acceptable plot. Gunfights are silly at best, facepalm inducing at worst, most characters are over the top.

08:40:25 syv: Deadpool is a deconstructive insulting parody of superheroes. I hate superheroes. I like Deadpool. OPM is an *affectionate* parody, so I hate OPM.
08:40:45 syv: Plus Deadpool is western, uses guns, and is over the top gory.
08:41:26 Devastator: Nah, I think Deadpool is affectionate too. Just kinda afraid.
08:41:45 Devastator: hides in the gore and 'edgy' offbeatness.

08:45:05 syv: Both are comedic superhero parodies, but one of them has a bunch of stuff I like that's typically absent from superhero stuff, and the other just has "hahaha, he's perfect", which is really already a basic superhero trope.

08:47:18 syv: Maybe I empathise with the protagonists too much. Saitama is always bored, while Deadpool's always having fun, which nicely sums up how I feel about their media.

08:48:55 Devastator: Saitama, well, it felt like they didn't try as hard as they could on it, and things could loosen up. It didn't have to keep up the commentary, and I could relax with it.

08:52:39 Devastator: rapid banter, character having fun, loads of gore, edgy topics.
08:53:01 Devastator: The best part of it is the sometimes genuine creativity, but none of those are particularly new.
08:53:28 Devastator: They're different from many members of the current crop, which is probably the bravest part of the whole thing, but it's old-fashion clown style humor.
08:54:43 Devastator: I like clowns, but I think it's best in small pieces. I haven't been seeing 12 superhero movies a year, for instance.
08:54:51 syv: How is that really different from Hardcore Henry, though? HH is really just violence, and then more violence, with some light humor interspersed. And violence is older than fiction.
