00:00:59 ER: Those might just be what remains of their normal souls
00:01:23 ER: gwyn's soul isn't nessesarially the same thing as the lordsoul of light
00:01:55 syv: For all we know, normal souls could specifically be dragon souls, broken down into many fragments and spread about the whole world, creating all life, aside from life created by the other lord souls. In that case, Gwyn has a bunch of dragon souls because everything does, but he also has his own lord soul which is like a dragon soul but different.
00:02:13 syv: And dragon souls could all derive from one single lord soul, just like the dark soul.
00:02:24 syv: They were just split far more.
00:03:10 ER: Therefore you should be able to get seperate resources of life soul and death soul, right? :P
00:03:27 ER: Killing skeletons should drop death souls with their own usage!
00:03:30 syv: Orrr they could be serpent souls, since the serpents are quite possibly the oldest thing besides dragons, and the serpents in the first game are the only things to give you souls for items.
00:03:55 syv: I like the idea that Frampt gives you tiny bits of souls in exchane for women's clothing.
00:04:05 syv: *tiny bits of his own soul
00:04:49 ER: The serpants aren't the only ones who trade items for souls though, just the only ones who want the PC's useless crap.
00:05:05 ER: Humans sell things in exchange for souls all the time.
00:05:24 syv: Yes. But they've got, like, pockets.
00:05:40 syv: Where the hell does Frampt keep his souls?
00:05:58 ER: crap, that doesn't make it look like humanity and souls are fundementally different
00:06:19 ER: manus's soul is described as a lump of humanity but only gives souls when eaten. :V
00:06:40 syv: Demons are also all born directly from the bed of Chaos, but all give souls when killed.
00:07:41 ER: But then, firekeeper souls give only humanity when eaten.
00:07:45 syv: ...I think Manus also drops like ten humanities.
00:08:07 syv: Maybe the player just doesn't know how to split humanities?
00:08:22 ER: Why would crushing a firekeeper soul unleash the humanity inside while crushing manus's soul converts the mass into souls?
00:09:07 ER: Rite of division: convert humanity into souls at bonfire
00:09:16 syv: Because that's the bit of Manus that's mostly made from glued together little souls, and can be smashed easily. The ten humanities he drops are the real remains of his lord soul, and sorta just fall away when you pick it up.
00:10:29 syv: Normal souls also have to do with personality and memory, according to, uh, well some source that shouldn't be named, so maybe the normal-soul bit of him is his personality, while the humanities are his last few lord soul bits. Which is backed up by the personality bit being used to make his catalyst.
00:11:08 ER: huh
00:11:10 syv: Maybe lord souls have to be tainted by memories and personality to be smashable and usable. Raw humanity is without personality, so it can't be smashed up and changed.
00:11:37 ER: so the souls that we pick up from bosses are not just the remains of their power, but the remains of their *minds*
00:12:06 ER: I feel that makes boss weapons a little more horrific.
00:12:07 syv: Well, obviously. Why else could you make Quelaag's furysword from Quelaag's soul?
00:12:23 syv: It makes selling Quelaag's soul to Frampt even more horrific.
00:12:33 ER: Just trap priscilla eternally in a scythe.
00:12:36 syv: Did you know he pays more for it than its smashing pay?
00:12:41 ER: Yup.
00:13:50 syv: "I love you, and never want you to leave my side!" "Oh that's sweet, but really can you please just leave me alo-" *stab* "Now I'll forge your mind into this scythe, and we can be together forever, mai waifu!"
00:14:09 ER: Hey, it's what I did!
00:14:46 syv: I always just smash her soul if I'm doing a 100%. Her scythe is worse than the base scythe,
00:14:52 ER: Also, putting sif's mind into an imitation of his dead master's sword.
00:15:30 syv: Or his dead master's shield, which his master gave to him to protect him, directly causing his own death, and then hiding behind said shield forever while it gets wailed on.
00:15:42 syv: Hey, it's what I did!
00:16:05 ER: protaganist, thou art a dick
00:16:29 syv: Don't worry, he burns for his sins.
00:17:08 syv: Or she, in your case, I guess.
00:17:26 ER: Nah, she walks away like a smug bastard, plunging the world into eternal darkness.
00:18:13 syv: Only if she has meta knowledge. Basically everyone burns the firdt round, cause "Hey! Bonfire!"
00:20:00 ER: I had metaknowledge first time, but the guy who I watched play it through the first time walked away and was like "huh, why am I getting this ending?"

00:22:56 ER: we were just arguing about dark souls lore
00:23:25 ER: because syv wanted me to start a suggestion game that's dark souls, except you're a cat.
00:23:56 MidJag: cool.
00:24:02 syv: "cool."
00:25:27 MidJag: indeed'
00:27:09 syv: "indeed'"
00:27:14 syv: So it has come to this.

00:29:02 MidJag: It has, it has indeed.
00:41:33 syv: Heh.
00:42:04 syv: Signal to noise apparently shoots to zero the moment MJ starts talking.
00:42:24 ER: oh well
00:42:36 ER: may as well make some noise
00:42:37 MidJag: signal to noise?
00:43:12 syv: Actual new discussion versus meaningless space filler.
00:43:24 MidJag: ah yeah
00:43:54 MidJag: It's my natrual chaoticness it tends to shut down organized discussion :P
00:43:57 syv: Stuff like"cool", "indeed", "yes", "heh", "so it has come to this", etc. Meaningless sayings which only serve to show that you are present and reading.

01:11:53 MidJag: Also, not a bad song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsL8vm4TH3Y
02:02:14 ER: but is it a good song?
02:06:34 MidJag: I would say possiblly. You'll have to see for yourself
02:15:42 ER: have some more mangled eurobeat https://youtu.be/d3x4eHI0jQQ
02:21:12 syv: MJ's song is meh, I dislike the singer's voice.
02:22:12 syv: ER's song is an abomination that sounds far better than it has any right to.
02:22:24 ER: :)
02:22:54 MidJag: heh
02:23:08 ER: now that I've gotten you to see the lesser abomination, here's the greater one: https://youtu.be/j-0oHu6-NHk
02:23:21 MidJag: Huh, listening to ER's song, I could tottally jam to that.
02:23:29 ER: (honestly, it sounds about the same as the original)
02:24:21 MidJag: Heh, one of the top comments is, as a rythem gamer this is terrifying
02:25:46 MidJag: You know, I don't think I've ever heard any Eurobeat, unless biting elbows or kasabian count
02:28:51 ER: unlike some youtube meme things, almost every video I've linked with that theme comes from the same uploader. And it turns out he's pretty talented in general. https://youtu.be/W2QKZDKQWd0
02:29:08 ER: That one is still, er, a little memey
02:29:14 ER: but also genuine.
02:29:33 syv: I would LOVE to have that song in Lanota.
02:29:51 MidJag: Lanota?
02:30:54 MidJag: Also you know what's funny? I did for band from junior high through highschool and I am shit at rythem games
02:31:10 syv: It's a really good rhythm game for Android.
02:36:17 MidJag: Ah
02:38:07 syv: This rifle has two melee attachments, each of them being a...
02:38:23 syv: ...pair of nunchuks, except the sticks habe each been replaced by a...
02:38:32 syv: ...pair of normal nunchuks.
02:38:36 ER: fuck
02:38:52 syv: Working as intended!
02:43:27 MidJag: awesome
02:43:31 ER: do dawg we herd u like nunchucks so we put nunchuckau on your nunchucks so that you can nunchuck while u nunchuck
03:38:16 syv: Should I make optics correlate at all with weapon type, or should I leave it completely random?
03:38:56 syv: I.E, should pistols and SMGs *tend* to get holorgraphics sights rather than scopes, while sniper rifles get telescopic sights, or just have it equally random?
03:42:28 syv: Answer in logs, plox
03:42:30 syv has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
03:44:26 MidJag: Random! it's more tacitcal if you've got a 4x scope on your 1911 so you can count the indivual hairs on the person your shooting at 30ft.
03:44:31 MidJag: :P
03:47:03 MidJag: and who needs a telescopic sights on a sniper rifle? The rifle white death just used a the glorious mosin nagent and iron sights, clearlly telescopic sights are just a liablity~
04:04:46 MidJag: not even kidding this is one of my favorite songs for just general listening. It's like the opposite of most songs I listen to but it's just so damn up beat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U27O98dYUsc
04:11:18 MidJag: Also, night
04:11:20 MidJag has left #einsteinianroulette
04:31:48 ER: ehhhh
04:32:43 ER: Could go either way, but totally random is more *anime*, and I'm pretty sure you have nothing that makes sure that melee weapon attachments are logical.
04:33:12 ER: If melee attachment is totally random, sights should be too.
04:34:19 ER: and who doesn't want an antitank rifle with a tacticool holo sight on it, so that you can massivelt overkill people at close range?
04:35:31 ER: Might even make sense in a future-y robo setting, because you could run into things with absurdly thick armor while indoors.
04:36:08 ER: Putting a great big sight on a pistol I have less justification for, but eh go for it eh?
04:55:00 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
04:55:31 syv: 100% random optics just makes this simpler, so that's 3/3 for random. Coolio.
04:56:05 ER: You should include some type of computerized "sight" for artillery.
04:56:32 ER: Because it would be hilarious to use a pistol with a targetting system larger than the rest of the weapon.
04:56:43 syv: There actually *is* a tendency for melee weapons to be somewhat more sane (the nunchukchuks are <1% chance on the lowest setting), though.
04:57:05 syv: "targeting computer ripped from an artillery piece", got it.
04:57:13 ER: yesss
04:57:57 ER: accurately rain 9mm death in an arc from a kilometer away!
05:00:46 ER: https://www.schlockmercenary.com/2008-10-11
05:03:15 ER: please allow for a small caliber rotery artillery piece that fires micro-grenades
05:04:35 syv: Does a Milkor MGL with a targeting computer count?
05:05:08 ER: an MGL isn't small caliber in this context
05:05:31 ER: we're talking about a minigun that fires smg bullets
05:05:51 syv: It isn't? Most artillery is larger than 40mm. Significantly larger.
05:05:56 syv: Ahh.
05:06:44 syv: Hmm. There's two miniguns on the list, and I was intending to make it possible for them to have custom loaded explosive bullets.
05:07:24 syv: The smaller one is 5.56, and that's the smallest real minigun I know of actually existing to any degree.
05:08:54 ER: ah, he calls it a shortbarrel rotory fifty, so that specific gun isn't actually pistol caliber
05:09:18 ER: at least by modern standards.
05:10:06 ER: So it's not a small caliber minigun, just a short barreled one. my mistake. :P
05:10:12 syv: AE, Beowulf, or BMG? One of those is a handgun caliber.
05:11:23 syv: ...Suppose .500 S&W Magnum is also on this list, so half the fifties are fired from handguns.
05:11:24 ER: "Strohl Munitions Short-barrel handcannon", and "shortbarrel rotary fifty" are the only two descriptions
05:11:47 ER: first in the notes, second is what the character calls it
05:13:01 syv: I'll assume it's .500 S&W, then, since that's fired from a revolver, and is therefore more of a "handcannon" round.
05:13:24 ER: the note also says it can fire between five hundred and five thousand projectiles per minute, with "great accuracy". That seems kinda unlikely with such a short barrel, but it's sci-fi.
05:14:09 syv: And that bullet is FAR more powerful than 5.56, so yes, it definitely possible to roll up a handheld small caliber gatling artillery piece which fires tiny grenades.
05:14:16 ER: It's a comically OP weapon, but still less comically OP than the plasma cannon that he usually uses.
05:14:53 syv: Said gatling weapon will also likely have at least one blade on it, which makes it intrisically better than the comic's gun.
05:15:09 ER: Sure.
05:15:50 ER: I can't remember any guns with blades attached in the comic
05:16:53 ER: There was a chainsaw, a telescoping halberd, and recently a big wrist mounted blade on power armor. That's about it for fancy melee.
05:17:59 syv: Sad!
05:30:28 syv: ...Adding chainsaws to the possible melee weapons. This means chainsawchuks are possible, as well.
05:30:59 ER: you didn't have them before? wow
05:49:18 ER: My sig is now at exactly the character limit.
05:49:31 ER: personal text is one off the limit.
05:57:56 syv: My sig is also at exactly the character limit.
05:59:00 ER: You don't change it much, though, and it's mostly (all?) quotes
05:59:30 syv: All, always.
05:59:46 syv: You planning on running Ocean, again?
06:01:13 ER: No, I had seven characters left and it's the closest thing to a common theme there.
06:01:32 ER: It is, after all, infinite and sometimes contradictory.
06:02:21 ER: Not everything I think about running is set there, but it can accomodate a whole lot of things.
06:02:43 ER: Simply stories set in different sections of the infinite sea.

06:50:41 ER: so... thanks for linking it to me in the first place :I
07:00:10 ER: hmm
07:00:45 syv: Oh, you actually liked it? Cool.
07:00:59 syv: I hope you finish that setting/game. I really hope you do.
07:01:23 syv: Though my hope is also tempered by fear of you finishing it, starting it, and then it dying, never to revive. :(
07:01:32 ER: Heh. Well, it's something I feel the need to treat with a bit more care than I do with most things.
07:03:47 syv: Things like that are the *worst*.
07:04:07 syv: So stressful. Just terrible. A total disaster.
07:04:08 ER: Anyway, here's the setup for an SG with the maximum number of things that are after you: You couldn't pay a debt to the mob, so they kidnapped you. Then a shady corperation stole you can a bunch of other people from the mob and performed horrible experiments on you. Then you escape, but now need to eat souls to survive.
07:04:32 syv: Tasty tasty souls.
07:05:20 syv: Are you possessed by two demons which hate both you and each other, and who each can intermittently gain control of one half of your body, warping and 'improving' it when they do?
07:05:55 ER: So the mob wants you back because you still owe them, the corp wants you back because you contain their secrets, the cops are after you because you need to perform random murders to survive, teh secret government agency wants you because you contain the corp's secrets and pose a threat, and otherworldly forces want you because you hold a fragment of their power.
07:06:59 ER: Eh, that setup assumes that you're mostly in control of yourself, except when demonic instinct takes over. WoD vampires style.
07:07:55 ER: If the MC is possessed by demons, I'd want those demons to be literally the suggestors.
07:09:15 syv: Fair enough.
07:09:44 syv: It does lead to a nice, near-hopeless situation.
07:09:50 ER: Perhaps with the actual human MC having a seperate player who gets different information and perspective on things, though that may be too much.
07:10:46 ER: Near hopeless for a mortal. Just need to gather those souls until you gain disturbing superpowers.
07:12:04 ER: Prototype 2 is a fairly average game, but it does have some nice designs for fleshthings of far too high power level.
07:14:55 syv: That... that's actually a really really neat idea. A public thread, where anyone can post, as one of the demons. They are told they *must* post orders with colors, and that their orders must be enclose in {braces}, [brackets], or <angles>, depending upon which of three characters they're talking to. Those three characters are controlled entirely by their own player, who is playing via PM, and is banned from looking at th
07:15:40 ER: Oh dear. *Three* characters? D:
07:15:47 syv: The demons can vote to affect the characters, based upon whether they acted according to the demons' will. Maybe the demons would also get some benefits for certain goals.
07:16:15 syv: You need multiple so that you don't end up with Dev controlling the single character, and simply not negotiating with the demons.
07:16:49 ER: The thought was actually that normally the demons only have limited communication, but can gather power to manifest directly on reality.
07:17:43 syv: The demons need someone pliable or foolish for them to have fun, and stay interested. Even a Dev player would have more interest if the demons are still paying attention and occasionally talking to them. Both benefit from their being multiple people, so that there's virtually guaranteed to always be one in an interesting situarion.
07:18:21 syv: Plus, it would let the demons direct the players into meeting or interacting with each other. I think the demons would fuck up and not make full use, but they'd have the opportunity.
07:19:29 ER: Anything with collective desision making you have to assume that sometimes they'll pick the worst possible option several times in a row.
07:22:23 ER: Also, if we still have demons hunting down the MC(s), we can have said demons try to negociate with the player-demons.
07:22:56 ER: Hell, have the Foundation beam messages at them.
07:23:40 ER: Hmm.
07:24:27 syv has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
07:24:33 ER: What's the best way to grant the demons power? When they give advise that the MC follows?
07:24:40 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
07:25:22 ER: Maybe hand out power to everyone when the MC consumes a soul.
07:26:27 ER: Only giving specific people power when they guess right what the player wants to do might encourage the player to do anything but what the demons suggest, because if they gain power they can interfere.
07:26:54 ER: If they get power from souls, and the MC dies without souls, interference is inevitable.
07:27:32 ER: perhaps when you gain demon powers, they get tied to a specific demon.
07:28:23 ER: You can lob fireballs, but only if Tricmagic allows it! :P
07:28:38 syv: Maybe certain powers, but some should definitely be community wide.
07:28:59 ER: what kind of powers should be spread out?
07:29:21 ER: Hmm. Possessing the character directly, for sure.
07:29:24 syv: Maybe direct world-affecting stuff, like demon arms or fireballs, get tied to people, and they're also cheaper, while broad powers which merely strengthen things in general get applied to everyone.
07:29:59 syv: Absolute possession should be hard and expensive. Just possessing limited parts, like their mouth or an arm, that's easier.
07:31:22 ER: Yeah, but possession should also remove all the limiters. The character becomes supernaturally strong and skilled, being controlled by a bunch of minds in concordence.
07:31:44 ER: Kinda even green storm style, I guess.
07:31:47 syv: Fireballs, lightning, scary presence, hallucinations (inflicted on the host, or someone near them), calling vermin, causing storms, disabling devices, telekinesis, causing insanity, magically causing mysterious wounds, degrading health gradually.
07:32:33 syv: Shapeshifting and fleshorror, but those are better if the host has some degree of control. Affecting mind of host with intense bloodlust and maybe some other stuff.
07:33:23 syv: Everything is cheaper if the host is willing, and basically understands what's happening. It's harder to force a resistant host to transform, maybe especially if they don't allow much else to happen.
07:33:27 ER: Thinking about kinda two parellel upgrade tracks. Investing your souls in your mind or your body. And a semi-hidden third option of putting it into objects.
07:33:47 syv: Should demons be able to gain boons from the actions of one character, and then apply those boons to another?
07:34:06 ER: yeah, each demon has just one power pool.
07:34:44 ER: Things like possession cost a bunch, but only need for that cost to be paid by everyone.
07:36:04 ER: Okay, this is big enough to write things in notepad I suppose.
07:36:25 ER: What's a good working title?
07:37:06 syv: "Idiots in Idiots"
07:37:13 ER: heh
07:37:16 ER: good enough
07:37:37 syv: ER was "Idiots in Space", and this was conceived of in #einsteinianroulette, so it's a good homage.
07:37:37 ER: calling it nested idiots, though
07:37:58 syv: Aww
07:38:05 ER: less referencial, but sounds better.
07:38:20 ER: So, three characters?
07:38:51 ER: Should they be dramatically different from each other? Made by me or by their players?
07:39:34 ER: All have that same backstory, or different ones? That sounds pretty cool to have them come from different places.
07:40:38 ER: Megacorp experiment / Foundation volentary proceedure gone wrong / randomly possessed.
07:41:54 ER: Three characters from their own perspective plus all three from demon perspective is six turns.
07:42:11 ER: Er, segments/turn?
07:43:18 syv: Characters should be player-made.
07:43:30 ER: Still not sure what sort of setting this is, really? Near future earth? Not-earth but similar? Stange fantasy realm?
07:43:56 syv: Turn length would just be variable. No need to tie oneself down. They don't even need to update at the same rate.
07:44:08 syv: I'd figure near-future. Or contemporary.
07:44:53 ER: Near future lets me do more cheeky stuff with technology. :V
07:46:26 ER: Sure, you could replace that severed arm with a pure demonic one, but you could put a prosthetic on there and empower it with souls. Looks more normal, less tampering from demons.
07:56:32 ER: hmm

07:59:30 syv: Dev are you going to be around tomorrow afternoon/evening?
07:59:33 Devastator: Yeah, can't log in.
07:59:41 syv: in IRC?
07:59:43 Devastator: Tomorrow evening seems likely.
08:00:22 syv: MJ was going to run a mall ninja game. I'm currently working on writing a random gun generator for it.
08:00:25 ER: ah, this is just three lines, I can copy them into here
08:00:26 ER: Alpha: You were a respected leader at the Foundation. When the empowerment procedure was discovered, you volunteered to test it first. You lost control, and now your former allies are tracking you down.
08:00:26 ER: Beta: You were kidnapped, imprisoned, sent to a dark and artificial place. Their sadistic "experiments" were torture, and your existence a living hell, pushing your mind to the breaking point. And when you broke, you found it granted you freedom.
08:00:26 ER: Omega: One night you went to sleep, and, found something in your dreams. You awoke to chaos.
08:00:26 Devastator: Heh.
08:00:54 Devastator: Heh.
08:01:06 Devastator: So are we mall ninjas or fighting mall ninjas?
08:01:06 ER: oops, extranious comma
08:01:54 syv: We play mall ninjas.
08:02:16 syv: But he also said that the aggressors would roll from the same charts, so we may be fighting a rival mall ninja gang.
08:03:00 Devastator: Oh.
08:03:23 Devastator: I thought you suggested defending a mall as an overweight underpaid mall cop against the forces of the Mall Ninjas.
08:05:04 syv: I don't even recall the original suggestion.
08:05:31 syv: In any case, I'm making a generator that comes up with a heavily (and horribly) customized gun.
08:07:27 ER: MJ's idea was mall ninjas vs. equally incompetant armed burglers.
08:07:57 syv has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
08:08:14 ER: I could see them using mall ninja like equipment. Think Florida Man.
08:08:42 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
08:10:27 Devastator: Mall Ninja vs Florida Man.
08:10:36 ER: exactly
08:10:43 Devastator: Although that would really be Florida Man vs The Mall Ninjas.
08:10:58 Devastator: FM clearly being the protagonist-type.
08:11:42 ER: also I PMed you a bit of demonsgame, syv. Same as what I copy-pasted here.
08:12:43 syv: I am absolutely a protagonist. I'm well enough armed, at least.
08:13:08 ER: please never get on the news as a Florida Man, syv.
08:13:15 Devastator: Hmm.
08:13:25 syv: No promises.
08:13:43 Devastator: So do you want cats vs mice or an ogre battle style unit builder game in the new year?
08:13:59 syv: Cats vs Mice, definitely.
08:14:51 ER: Yeah, pretty much.
08:14:58 syv has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
08:15:58 Devastator: syv bouncy tonight.
08:16:06 Devastator: So how's the Tales game?
08:17:45 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
08:18:02 ER: ez
08:18:24 ER: syv canvinced me to turn up the difficulty and STILL EZ
08:19:42 Devastator: Heh.
08:19:50 Devastator: ToP, for the record, is pretty easy too.
08:19:59 Devastator: Outside of maybe three, four tough fights.
08:20:27 Devastator: Stage 2 end boss, Undine, Maxwell, and the arena Wyvern solo battle.
08:20:53 Devastator: Although once in a while you'll fuck up and half the team will be on the floor.
08:22:21 syv: ToB apparently only has a rare few even vaugely hard fights on the hardest difficulty that's available at the start.
08:23:04 syv: Near the end of the game, and in NG+, you unlock difficult levels which make normal fights conceivably difficult... but beyond that, no.
08:23:46 syv: Also, it's really very, very, very easy. You can let the AI control all your characters entirely and youcwill be at no real risk 99% of the time.
08:23:47 ER: Well, I fucked up and 3/4 of the party was on the floor, but then I finished the thing off with the base attacks of the character I'd never controlled before.
08:24:15 syv: The guy that isn't Cowboy Zuko?
08:24:15 ER: Also I could have revived everyone, it's just that beating a boss without using items gives a HUGE bonus. :V
08:24:24 ER: The kid.
08:26:57 Devastator: Also, from your comments earlier apparently she's wearing ridiculous clothing and hair. Any inspiration for Nan?
08:27:15 syv: Nan.
08:27:30 syv: She was somewhat impressive even by anime standards, but not Nan level.
08:27:38 syv: *Nah.
08:28:16 ER: Nan's hair already surpasses Valvet's, and Velvet's clothes are seriously absurd and out of place, no matter what place we're talking about.
08:28:26 syv: But Equitable Rub, you did control the kid at one point! I asked you to suicide him into spider fangs, and you tried for like ten minutes!
08:29:04 syv: ER is entirely right about the hair. I think the clothes might fit in at an adult club, though.
08:29:20 Devastator: I'm a little sad at that because Nan doesn't have all that much hair.
08:29:24 ER: But it's all tattered and has metal bits.
08:29:39 Devastator: That describes lots of club outfits.
08:29:45 syv nods
08:30:16 Devastator: Does she have a more reasonable outfit than the female co-host of that bounty hunter program on Cowboy Bebop?
08:30:20 ER: dammit, reality
08:30:42 ER: I'd say the female co-host is more reasonable
08:30:55 syv: IIRC, Velvet was less reasonable.
08:31:07 Devastator: Hmm.
08:31:34 ER: I did unlock a cowboy hat.
08:31:34 syv: The cowgirl was like three, four pieces of clothing? Velvet had a lot more complexity to her outfit, and possibly covered less.
08:31:46 syv: Which he placed on Zuko, at my request.
08:31:50 ER: Like fourteen belts :P
08:32:09 Devastator: Cowgirl had a buckskin vest with no shirt that was probably attached via adhesive.
08:33:15 ER: an order of magnatude more clothing items and twice the exposed skin, maybe
08:33:29 Devastator: Okay, that is ridiculous.
08:34:22 Devastator: 30 items, all belts.
08:34:32 Devastator: It's 90s Anime Girl.
08:34:39 Devastator: Any pouches?
08:34:59 ER: Hmm. probably?
08:36:30 Devastator: I suppose.
08:36:32 syv: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/aselia/images/6/60/Velvet_Status_%28ToB%29.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160426232700
08:37:44 ER: Jeez, looking at it just makes it look sillier.
08:37:47 Devastator: That's terrible.
08:38:05 Devastator: Can you find one for Mint from ToP?
08:38:13 Devastator: Just for comparison's sake.
08:38:40 ER: Strangely, if you look at her from the back, the cloak covers everything and you can pretend she's just wearing old ragged armor.
08:38:53 syv: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/aselia/images/4/43/Mint_Adenade_%28ToP-NDX%29.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150811053249
08:39:32 ER: maybe they design it like that so that people like me can tolerate running around for hours with that character model. :V
08:39:40 Devastator: Heh.
08:39:57 Devastator: I'd ask for one for the witch, but I think her name is different in the translation I'm playing.
08:40:08 ER: hmm, now that's a good character design.
08:40:56 ER: Though one of the PCs I get later looks only slightly worse than Mint there. :I
08:41:12 ER: And then there's the jester witch.
08:41:38 Devastator: 'Jester witch' is not the title for the main character?
08:41:43 ER: Who is... predictable, but moderately tolerable.
08:41:59 Devastator: That's about what I would expect the profession of a RPG character dressed like that to be.
08:42:00 ER: The main character is a demon.
08:42:22 ER: Nah, the jester witch is an elf loli :V
08:42:48 Devastator: Man..
08:42:58 syv: "Jester", Dev, really? Since when do jesters dress like exotic dancers?
08:43:09 ER: yeah...
08:43:57 syv: Decent rearview: https://gamefaqs.akamaized.net/faqs/02/74502-59.gif
08:44:00 Devastator: Exotic dancers don't dress like that.
08:44:15 syv: Closer to that than jesters do.
08:44:26 Devastator: Yes, but RPG jesters?
08:45:30 Devastator: Yeah, that's a bit more hair than Nan had. She'd probably have that much at the next step.
08:46:03 syv: Female RPG knights dress like that sometimes, if you make it a videogame EVERY female has a fair chance to dress absurdly.
08:47:20 ER: Strangely I played a game once with choice of male or female and three base classes. Inexplicably, the mage was more covered than the fighter.
08:48:05 syv: The mage is a shy bookworm obviously, and doesn't realize that she needs to flaunt her assets.
08:49:14 ER: (I wanna be the hunter, not the hunted. I wanna be the killer, not the prey!)
08:49:34 Devastator: Heh.
08:53:13 syv: Huh. Ashcorp apparently released an acoustic Rules of Nature cover, just yesterday.
08:53:33 ER: neat
08:54:06 syv: Don't care for his singing, though.
08:54:24 ER: Also, grouping player statistics into "primal", "Professional", "Assets", and "Extra"
08:54:53 Devastator: ok.
09:15:31 ER: Pseudonym, strength, domain, physicality, and powers.
09:16:54 syv: Night all.
09:17:02 ER: <3

09:17:22 ER: read my demongame things I sent you when you wake up, k?
09:17:59 ER: This thing is really quite past the realm of "suggestion game" at this point, isn't it.
09:18:09 Devastator: I gotta knock it off too.
09:18:15 ER: alright
09:18:21 Devastator: Also, Velvet has hair down to the ground.
09:19:57 Devastator has quit [Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client]
10:17:29 ER: Hmm.
10:18:07 ER: Paying 10 strength to weaken the barrier, making all powers cost half while in that area.
10:18:21 ER: overpowered? underpowered?
10:18:29 ER: useless?
11:08:53 ER: It seems hard to make things cost more when the host doesn't agree to them or understand what's going on.
11:10:08 ER: Instead, some powers are directly used by the demons while other ones give the host the power to use them. Seizure is a default power that lets you puppet one limb of the host, or control one power that the host usually has control of.
11:11:21 ER: ...hmm. I guess that means a demon can use seizure to activate the host's Reprisal power, taking strength away from another demon.
11:11:30 ER: Er... working as intended.
11:45:59 ER: aaand I've sent a whole bundle of powers
11:46:15 ER: looking for feedback on costs and such.
11:47:11 ER: Strength gain should be something like +1 if a host follows your command, +5 to everyone when a host consumes a soul.
11:48:50 ER: If it seems like a host will eventually be able to just take on the whole world with enough souls and demon cooperation, that's intended. :V
11:50:23 ER: Superspeed up to people, drain their soul instantly, use that strength to stay in fleshhorror form permanantly and toss lightning and hellfire at anything you can't just smash.
11:51:53 ER: Or abuse things like trojan and glimmer to take over the world more subtly.
11:53:13 ER: Or use loose too much and make a bunch of manifest demons show up, ending the world.
12:56:27 ER: (I wanna be the hunter, not the hunted. I wanna live one more day!)
12:57:09 ER: (Can't take much more. Constantly repeating every beat I felt before.)

18:40:18 er: Hmm
18:40:54 er: Yup, don't know if that fits in the forum's title bar.
18:44:52 MidJag: Intresting

23:15:03 ER: If I agreed to be here at a specific time, I forgot. But here i am!~
23:15:25 syv: Nah, no specific time.
23:15:38 MidJag: Just waiting on dev.
23:15:57 MidJag: Well and I also need to go get food, but I'll be back quick.
23:16:08 syv: ...I have four PMs.
23:16:21 ER: I just cut my thing up
23:16:26 syv: All Egan! Neat.
23:16:35 MidJag: heh
23:16:44 ER: was too excited to wait to send things until after I'd made everything.
23:17:25 syv: The three character starts seem nice and interesting. Vauge enough to let the player have some creativity, defined enough to make their place in the world clear, and keep their stories unqiue.
23:17:39 ER: Yup.
23:19:56 ER: Wonder who should play each one. I trust and respect dev and syv. MJ is our other regular here but I doubt he can keep up with it enough. The players really need to be reliable and unlikely to disappear.
23:20:27 syv: Professional skills seem slim. More stuff would be appropriate there, but it might be best to just let the players come up with their own ideas. There's many, many professional skills, after all.
23:20:40 ER: Or, uh, at least as reliable as ER.
23:20:47 syv: Hah.
23:21:09 syv: To be fair to MJ, he *has* managed to keep a game alive longer than any of the rest of us.
23:21:29 ER: Prof stats can be filled out by the players, I just picked the more obvious/powerful ones I could think of.
23:22:02 ER: He has indeed. But he is now infinitely busy. :P
23:23:17 syv: Oh, when I originally suggested the color stuff, I was saying that I think Demons should be able to speak in any color, and that's the only ID the human player would get. So if they disliked the green guy, green guy could change to red, and a player could speak in multiple voices if they wanted to, making things more confusing. Of course, the demons would be *entirely* unaware of this at the start.
23:23:58 ER: I prefer if the demons can't game it like that quite so much.
23:24:09 syv: People naturally like to keep to one color, so they'd only find out by accident about the mechanic.
23:24:15 syv: Well, okay then.
23:24:37 ER: Well, it's an interesting idea, but persistant relationships is also interesting, and gives the host a bit more power.
23:25:55 syv: True. Demons are already pretty powerful in this, and are at zero physical risk from anything. If they could change persona, that removes social risk, too.
23:26:52 ER: Yeah, I think some element of social risk adds another layer.
23:28:17 syv: Are you sure possession should knock the host unconscious? It's horrifying to have your body be controlled by another being, and if the demons took a bunch of turns, the player would just see nothing at all for a long time.
23:28:48 ER: Eh, wasn't attached to it much.
23:29:41 syv: Trojan is awesome.
23:29:49 ER: Hehehe.
23:31:19 ER: just rip your biological lungs out and replace them, speak using a speech synthesiser. Permanantly Trojaned. Working as intended.
23:32:22 syv: How often does morph need to be paid?
23:32:57 ER: ...How long does possession last?
23:34:13 ER: Morph is paid infrequently enough that you could keep it up indefinately with enough murder. Or at least that's the coolest interpritation.
23:34:28 ER: Might be hard to keep it going while you sleep, actually...
23:36:08 syv: MidJag, got any solid ideas on how you'll run the Mall Ninja game?
23:36:48 syv: You might also want to come up with a deadline for how long you're willing to wait for Dev. Or decide whether you want to delay it just for him, I guess.
23:37:05 ER: oh yeah, youtube served me this. have you seen it? https://youtu.be/f52mI1YHp-k
23:37:58 syv: Yes. Never really felt any of Aviators' songs were that good.
23:41:14 syv: Yeah, I don't know what it is, but the electronic distortion on his voice is just distracting. And he's frankly just not that good, at least for this kind of song.
23:41:42 ER: hmm
23:42:06 ER: lyrics seem creative, and it has a rhythm at all, so I like it. :V
23:42:32 syv: Yeah, it's decent. Just not something that I'd listen to regularly, like MoS.
23:43:27 ER: it linked me that from Hunter, which I've had on my head all day after listening to it a bunch last night.
23:43:54 ER: Uh, that might be over-exposure, but I'm not tired of it yet~
23:44:36 syv: Heh. I've listened to it a ton, too. KA is very hit-or-miss, but when he hits, he hits.
23:45:01 ER: (I wanna be the hunter, not the hunted. I wanna be the killer, not the prey!)
23:45:53 syv: That song in specific is probably the biggest reason I have any desire to watch Attack on Titan. Makes me curious, though I doubt the show's good.
23:46:22 ER: ...It's probably the closest I've felt to wanting to watch that, yeah.
23:46:28 syv: Also, I'm honestly wondering if the song is MORE appropriate to Refine than to AoT, since it's really damn fitting for Refine.
23:46:41 ER: Indeed.
23:47:09 ER: hunters are prey, and prey are predators.
23:47:43 ER: Which is fairly bloodbornian, but I can mix my references.
23:47:51 syv: "What's the point in believing if I can't prey?"
23:48:49 syv: Oooh, Aviators' collab with MoS is really nice, at least when Gav is singing.
23:49:07 syv: Aviators might be better at lyric writing than Gav.
23:49:07 ER: let there be fire?
23:49:16 syv: Yes
23:49:25 ER: I'll listen to it, then
23:51:04 syv: Is there such a thing as symphonic rap?
23:51:14 ER: probably
23:53:02 ER: dammit, Let There Be Fire is making me want to link the flame suddenly.
