00:01:16 ER: it's magnetohydrodynamics i don't have to explain shit
00:05:45 Devastator: Heh.
00:06:46 ER: fuck it i'm making that my sig
00:20:25 Devastator: go for it.
00:20:51 Devastator: Hmm, NJW's up late.
01:03:51 ER: "Somebody killed me, and I do *not* have time to be dead."
01:17:19 Devastator: heh.
02:47:44 Devastator: "millions of men are shooting each other, or blowing each other up, lighting each other on fire, and I'm thinking stealing a chicken is barbaric?"
02:48:12 ER: hmm
02:48:17 ER: world war?
02:48:36 ER: guess it could be just about any war, really...
02:49:14 ER: every war involves men doing terrible things to eahc other, and there's chickens... basically everywhere.
02:50:16 Devastator: from The Great War, during Operation Michael.
02:50:57 Devastator: The German spring offensive of 1918, where they achieve a breakthrough.
02:51:20 Devastator: "I cannot get my men out of this cellar without bloodshed."
02:51:24 Devastator: (wine cellar)
02:52:39 ER: well you have booze, and you have moderate protection against shells. What more could a soldier ask for?
02:53:32 ER: ...I hope you don't mind me adding a framework for magic-users in death plane, Dev. :P
02:53:47 ER: You're right that I'm often very pro-magic
02:54:03 Devastator: Hmm? I don't see why we couldn't set up realitites with 'magic' in them in death plane.
02:54:11 Devastator: Just as long as it remains horrible and death-filled, I'm game.
02:54:19 ER: Heh.
02:55:15 ER: Also mention that some beings can do something to protect from the 1-Essence mortal smiting power, so that evil wizards can get big enough to be non-trivial for gods.
02:55:19 Devastator: radiation-eaters, otoh, will be sufficiently weird that I doubt magic will be very relevant to them.
02:56:09 ER: Well, it's made pretty clear that "magic" is just a way to describe supernatural things, usually under the command of a mortal being.
02:56:34 Devastator: Yeah, it's not something I'm that worried about.
02:56:49 ER: Which means that what is or is not magic kinda depends on what you consider to be normal.
02:57:49 Devastator: I'll be a little worried if 'add magic' basically means it's trivial for your life forms to survive and worship you.. that is, ending the death-filled part of death plane.

03:01:08 midnightjaguar: That was quite the update for prequel
03:01:25 Devastator: Yes.
03:01:28 Devastator: Best result ever.
03:01:38 Devastator: Katia saved by being slut-cat. ;-p
03:02:01 Devastator: Actually, in truth I had no idea what would happen next and how the next update would go down.
03:02:02 midnightjaguar: I do wonder if it means that Katia is no longer eligible to be the protag of oblivion.
03:02:22 Devastator: syv said as much. I've always been in the no camp, but I don't think this update guarantees that absolutely.
03:02:55 midnightjaguar: Im still thinking she is, but then again I’m an optimist at heart.
03:03:46 Devastator: I'm not sure if that's the optimistic position.
03:03:58 midnightjaguar: How so?
03:04:37 Devastator: will that be the best thing for her?
03:04:43 Devastator: Will that lead to a better story?
03:06:41 ER: It is POSSIBLE to reach a fairly stable state in death plane, in fact I'm hoping for that eventually. I don't see how having magic users nessesarially is what's making that possible.
03:07:07 Devastator: "I make a worshipper who has the power to flatten vacuum and feed itself."
03:07:29 ER: Yeah, you can't make things that just magically power themselves.
03:07:40 ER: There *has* to be some source.
03:07:50 midnightjaguar: I’ve never actually played Oblivion so I’m not sure. But I feel as though the walkeing up in jail missing everything as a last act of everything going wrong and then becoming the eventually god like adventurer that is an elder scrolls protag would suit the series idea of ups and downs.
03:08:40 Devastator: Is that what they've done to TES lore these days?
03:08:41 ER: Making a world of magic things which stay alive by absorbing a source of mana isn't all too different from creating a world of not-magic things which stay alive by absorbing light.
03:09:54 Devastator: hmm, that boes well for rad eaters, because they're definately eating something with a theoretically limited supply.
03:10:16 ER: Light needs to come from somewhere. Mana has to come from somewhere. Either of those can be ultimately powered by the only constant source here, but they both need that source.
03:10:46 midnightjaguar: In Skyrim at least the player is pretty fucking strong by the end game.
03:11:02 Devastator: Being a TES protag isn't a good end.
03:11:11 ER: Take in the rays, turn essence into more radioactive rocks for your little bees
03:11:13 midnightjaguar: How so?
03:12:24 Devastator: Well, you don't get to retire, everyone who has ever seen you forgets you, and you vanish from the world shortly after you finish your 'job', so to speak. Also, basically nothing you do specifically sticks.
03:14:17 Devastator: bees might be fun too.
03:14:43 Devastator: Wouldn't be too hard to organize actual hive minds with bees to count as worshippers.
03:14:51 midnightjaguar: Interesting point.
03:16:13 Devastator: It's not necessarily a horrible experience, but it is hard to say that it's a great thing long term.
03:16:47 Devastator: Besides, clearly Gro-Upp is the Hero of Kvatch.
03:16:58 midnightjaguar: Which is he again?
03:17:34 Devastator: The orc.
03:17:58 ER: buzz
03:18:10 midnightjaguar: Ah righty
03:18:11 ER: bees on the mind, of course
03:19:04 ER: THAT would be a fun setup to mess with people's creations. :P
03:19:13 Devastator: bees?
03:19:53 ER: filling thier heads with illustrated-adventure-esque nonsense
03:20:24 Devastator: Heh.
03:20:35 Devastator: living comic characters.
03:21:29 ER: suddenly all your minions start attempting to seduce any animate or inanimate object
03:21:51 Devastator: hmm?

03:37:06 MidJag: No prob.
03:38:09 Devastator: I hope NJW updates soon.
03:38:55 Devastator: drunk combat should be fun.
03:39:04 Devastator: I'm not sure what the british equivalent of pabst blue ribbon is.
03:42:27 Devastator: Heh, that's a short-lived state.
03:42:50 Devastator: "The Transcaucasian Federative Republic."
03:43:35 Devastator: lasted.. one month, four days.
03:50:06 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
03:50:24 syv: "Devastator: Is that what they've done to TES lore these days?"
03:50:32 syv: It's been a thing for awhile.
03:50:50 ER: hey syv
03:51:11 ER: don't tell syv that I said this, but I can't believe that worked.
03:52:06 syv: The Agent pretty much had control over Numidium; The Nerevarine killed Dagoth Ur and was capable of killing the Tribunal; The Hero of Kvatch literally *mantles* into a god; and The Dragonborn kills an aspect of Akatosh.
03:52:16 ER: https://youtu.be/JaWT1piemMs
03:52:18 MidJag: ello syv
03:52:25 syv: Hey, Jaggers.
03:52:28 Devastator: hello syv.
03:52:46 Devastator: The hero of kvatch mantles into a god?
03:52:56 Devastator: Did they retcon the end of oblivion when I was not looking?
03:53:14 syv: Yeah. Becomes Sheogorath, after Sheogorath becomes (and remains) Jyggalag.
03:53:18 ER: mandella! mandella! ;D
03:53:24 Devastator: Wow, they did retcon it.
03:53:41 syv: I'm pretty sure you meet Sheogorath in Skyrim, and it essentially confirms this as canon.
03:53:53 Devastator: Wow, that's horseshit.
03:54:05 Devastator: oh well, Skyrim basically shat all over the lore anyway, so not suprised to find that out too.
03:54:34 ER: I rewrote one of the sections of the OP for death plane.
03:54:46 ER: was: 356 characters
03:55:03 ER: now: 6241 characters
03:55:24 ER: wonder if I overdid it...
03:55:47 Devastator: I think the only one of those that I'd agree with is the one about the Nerevarine. He did mostly kill a once-elf demigod, but that wasn't that spectacular.. there were like 11 of them once, remember.
03:55:58 Devastator: (well, six.)
03:56:05 ER: oh yeah, still haven't included my mechanics for godly combat... maybe should be a new section for that, though.
03:56:36 Devastator: And I'm not counting Skyrim as canon. ;-p
03:57:13 Devastator: (I did a LP of it for a bit over a year where I played as if dragons didn't exist. It was a suprisingly defensable position.)
03:59:56 syv: Well, you may not count Skyrim as canon, but it seems pretty clear to me that *Kazerad* does. So if Katia does indeed become the hero of Kvatch, Katia will also go on to become Sheogorath.
04:00:28 Devastator: Which is sad.
04:00:35 syv: For you.
04:00:38 Devastator: God, that makes both positions worse.
04:00:42 syv: Goblin.
04:00:49 Devastator: (Sheogorath and the Hero of Kvatch.)
04:00:59 syv: GOBLIN.
04:01:16 Devastator: You can say that, but it doesn't mean anything.
04:01:24 ER: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0b/19th_Century_goblin_illustration.jpg
04:01:43 MidJag: I could see Katia becoming sheogorath, asssuming he's the madness guy
04:01:49 syv: He is indeed.
04:01:54 Devastator: Well, he was the madness guy.
04:02:06 Devastator: but since he's apparently just some dude, he's a lot less impressive.
04:02:53 Devastator: (I was also dissapointed with his quest in Skyrim, as it had a bed in it, but you aren't allowed to sleep in beds owned by others in Skyrim. I was wanting to get kidnapped by the dark brotherhood from an unreal dimension thingy.)
04:03:26 ER: hmm
04:03:27 Devastator: Ugh, Blades being dragonslayers rather than badass secret agents. That one sucked too.
04:03:36 syv: According to Shivering Isles, Sheogorath was originally the prince of order, Jyggalag, but grew too powerful and aggressive, so the other Princes captured him and cursed him into becoming the Prince of Madness.
04:04:13 syv: The Hero of Kvatch frees him from that and then mantles into the vacant position left by Sheogorath.
04:04:14 ER: I should devise some IRC-runable futuristic tactics game, just so that I can run it with the frozen synapse soundtrack
04:04:19 syv: !
04:04:24 syv: Frozen Synapse 2!
04:04:26 Devastator: Heh.
04:04:27 syv: So EXCITE!
04:05:07 ER: excite? it's out already~
04:05:27 syv: Yes, but this comp doesn't have the POWER for it.
04:05:43 ER: not enough power for FS? huh
04:05:49 syv: So I need to aait until tomorrow. And also finish up Sophia, I guess, though I really don't feel like it ATM.
04:06:17 Devastator: FS2, presumably.
04:06:20 Devastator: aait?
04:06:40 syv: "wait", but typed in a hurry on a phone.
04:07:02 Devastator: Pumsy's is good, though.
04:07:40 Devastator: Let me read the building description again.
04:07:56 MidJag: FS2? I rember I saw a bit for it several years ago around when I first joined bay 12, but I can't rember why it's exciting
04:08:29 syv: Frozen Synapse is the tactics game where you control every little movement of a small group of soldiers, in CQB combat.
04:09:00 syv: It's made notable because you can predict everything perfectly in five second increments before deciding what to do.
04:10:15 syv: The original was entirely set-pieces with no real agency or continuity for the player, beyond the individual tactical engagements, but in the sequel, you actually control an entire faction, and can choose which battles to fight with which units, in an effort to take over an entire procedurally-generated city.
04:11:09 syv: Also, it's got a great cyberpunk soundtrack and looks really pretty, with lots of flashy lights and glowy bits.
04:11:29 MidJag: and how's the sequel difrrerent?
04:11:35 MidJag: Ah.
04:11:39 MidJag: Just saw that
04:12:56 syv: Also, there's a ton more units, which is awesome, though I wonder how they'll be balanced.
04:13:09 ER: Important: it lets you simulate the result of your orders perfectly, but you have to give the ENEMY soldiers their own orders in the simulation, depending on what you THINK they're going to do.
04:13:48 ER: So a lot of the game revolves around coming up with strategies the enemy might employ, and give those orders.
04:14:08 syv: It very frequently turns into a game of "I-think-you-know-that-I-know-that-you-know-that-I-know-that-you-know"
04:14:35 MidJag: ....If this was multiplayer it sounds like it would be hilarious :p
04:14:45 syv: Unless you're fighting AI, in which case once you learn how the AI thinks, you can go rambo with two units and kill twenty, which just feels *so* awesome.
04:14:49 syv: It is multiplayer.
04:14:58 syv: ER and I play on occasion.
04:14:59 ER: And FS2 apparantly has a nightmare mode where the AI spies on your own orders BEFORE coming up with it's own, so you NEED to outplay them to such a degree that there's no way for them to win.
04:15:06 syv: !
04:15:11 syv: AWESOME.
04:15:51 Devastator: You know, maybe we should just wait for the unicorn to walk to the other side of the building.
04:16:20 ER: hmm. FS1 isn't much cheaper than FS2
04:16:30 Devastator: I don't know if the feature for the city-based faction campaign is any better.
04:17:05 ER: x-com apocaplypse though
04:17:08 Devastator: Although that nightmare mode might be interesting, as it means you'll have to play the AI two moves ahead.
04:17:10 syv: ^
04:17:21 Devastator: Apoc wasn't terrible, but wasn't that great.
04:17:31 ER: wasn't *finished*
04:17:41 syv: Real-time, and it was fairly unbalanced.
04:17:52 syv: Frozen Synapse is amazingly balanced, and is the best time.
04:18:20 MidJag: I wish apoc had been finished before it was realsed
04:18:34 MidJag: It could have been really cool
04:19:02 Devastator: you can play Apoc in turn-based, syv.
04:19:28 syv: Thought it only made it worse, due to being largely designed for real-time.
04:19:54 Devastator: It's arguable.
04:20:05 syv: Is anything not?
04:21:35 syv: Point: Made.
04:21:38 ER: You know, I've always kinda wanted a real time strategy game where you play as an AI, and you can pause time the "resource" of your clock speed.
04:21:39 MidJag: Humans contain carbon
04:21:44 Devastator: Yeah, there's stuff that's not arguable.
04:22:00 Devastator: Wasn't there that time-travel game, ER?
04:22:04 Devastator: Did anything ever come of that?
04:22:27 ER: While playing in real time, you have a "cycles" bar which fills up, and you can slow or pause time and the meter goes down.
04:22:34 syv: MJ: Actually, humans are just a simulation in a computer purely made from magnetic waves.
04:22:46 Devastator: "There is stuff that exists."
04:22:52 MidJag: But they would still contain simulated carbon in the simulation
04:22:52 Devastator: "There is stuff that is arguable."
04:23:04 ER: And your units would be drones and you could improve their accuracy and stuff by lending them some of your own cycles.
04:23:16 Devastator: Euclidean Geometry is based on the five postulates of Euclid.
04:23:21 MidJag: Apperentlly gollop is makeing a new game
04:23:23 syv: Dev: Depends on your definitions of stuff, and existence.
04:23:46 Devastator: In order to argue about that, you must have something with which to argue over.
04:23:56 syv: MJ: No, the simulation merely tells us that we're made of simulated carbon when we look, but we're actually made of Helium kittens.
04:24:03 Devastator: If nothing exists, you cannot make an argument, as an argument is something.
04:24:10 syv: Dev: I have proved that wrong many times.
04:24:44 Devastator: So is a proof.
04:25:20 syv: Also, an argument isn't anything, it doesn't actually exist. We talk about it like it exists, but you can't touch an argument.
04:25:36 MidJag: But does it matter if it's actually kittens if they are completelly imperecetable when any human being looks? Therfore suggesting that they are carbon and behaves like carbon
04:25:56 ER: aaaaand you should be able to set your drones threshold for how sure they are they're going to hit before firing. If it's all the way down they'll spray bullets at any enemy they see until they hit, and it's all the way up they'll ONLY fire with a 100% chance.
04:26:34 syv: There may actually be real carbon that isn't kittens, which is almost physically indistinguishable from kittens, but behaves slightly differently.
04:26:49 syv: Huh, that's... different.
04:27:04 syv: I kinda want to set a bunch of gunners to 0% just to watch the lights.
04:27:06 ER: nothing is true, especially this statement
04:27:33 MidJag: But that would just be an isotope of the carbon kittens
04:27:36 Devastator: Can't you just do supressive fire?
04:27:47 syv: I don't think vatforms can be suppressed.
04:27:51 syv: They're sods, basically.
04:28:13 syv: MJ: They're helium, though.
04:28:27 ER: Well, you can make their puppet master decide it's not worth sending them round that corner.
04:28:47 MidJag: Helium carbon kittens
04:28:51 Devastator: Should have a Frozen Synapse with kittens.
04:28:52 MidJag: Point still stands
04:29:08 syv: That your original point wasn't arguable?
04:29:12 syv: I disagree.
04:29:12 ER: And what if you're an AI with drone units, but you're fighting a bunch of humans with their own chatotic and unpredictable emotional states?
04:29:53 ER: https://www.google.com/search?q=arguable+definition&rlz=1C1ASUM_enUS516US518&oq=arguable+&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.4551j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
04:29:57 syv: That is something. I wonder if any of the enemies will be humans. Some of the enemies in the original FS were stated to be humans, only semi-controlled thriugh the shape.
04:30:00 Devastator: You win because you have drones that are better than humans.
04:30:20 MidJag: I would be curious, if you can argue that stuff may or may not exsist
04:31:12 ER: meat glacier does not mean "harmless"
04:32:27 syv: DEV ASKED TO OUT THIS IN COMMON.
04:32:32 syv: (syv) https://www.deviantart.com/yukonix/art/F-L-U-E-R-739531971
04:32:36 syv: *Put
04:33:11 MidJag: .....why are her arms vaginas?
04:33:34 syv: I think those are eyes.
04:33:41 syv: I really don't know, though.
04:33:58 syv: That image only fills me with more questions every time I look at it.
04:34:18 ER: k
04:34:31 Devastator: Gotta show it to PW next.
04:36:09 syv: The real question is what the fiction about that thing looks like. The artist said that they drew that for reference in a story.
04:36:12 ER: ...and of course if you're using drones then elecronic warfare becomes relevent, and you could probably get around that problem by convincing or hiring humans to work for you, but you need to give them verbal instructions and they think slower than you.
04:36:43 syv: There was a lot of hacking in FS1's campaign.
04:36:55 MidJag: I'm fairly sure I would die of alcohol poisoning before I found that to be...cute in the way the author seems to be describing it.
04:36:58 syv: Most of it by Belacqua, an AI.
04:37:03 Devastator: "You can only issue orders on alternate turns."
04:37:06 ER: Hacking is fun, but jamming is also a thing.
04:37:22 syv: Dev, there's a one-turn mode, where you can only issue orders once.
04:37:25 MidJag: ...why does she have two mouths, one of which is on her torso? That doesn't even make sense for any of the animalss
04:37:45 syv: It's like Quelaag!
04:37:54 ER: You must be using some sort of wireless connection to control your minions.
04:37:56 Devastator: They haven't invented words for that yet.
04:38:16 ER: Maybe you could see laser based comms, that would be awesome.
04:38:36 syv: Chop off the bottom half of a human, glue it to the top of a giant spider.
04:38:56 syv: Still a better design.
04:39:22 Devastator: But that wouldn't have decorative wings! Or arm vaginas.
04:39:51 syv: I bet you those wings let her fly like an eagle. Of course they do.
04:40:04 ER: Human enemies set up radio jamming, so you need to make sure that your drones maintain constant line of sight leading back to your core so that you can command them via laser, all while the flesh sacks you're fighting are panicing and trying to hack you and stuff.
04:40:13 Devastator: Nah, my bet is like a hummingbird.
04:40:17 Devastator: I bet she can hover.
04:40:21 syv: I like that idea, ER.
04:40:30 syv: Ugh, you're probably right, Dev.
04:40:38 Devastator: And then it gets foggy and you die. ;-p
04:40:52 ER: Now I just have to learn how to program RTS games, a genre that I hate!
04:41:01 Devastator: Thinking of the Naomi Novik novels where she has giant dragons that can hover.
04:41:04 syv: You're a predictive AI, you knew the weather would be clear.
04:41:15 syv: ...You hate RTS, ER? :(
04:41:37 ER: Well, a lot of them I just don't care enough to learn to play right.
04:41:38 syv: Hovering dragons still makes more sense.
04:41:53 Devastator: It was really big.
04:42:02 Devastator: except for when that was inconvienent for the plot.
04:42:24 ER: I'm pretty much fine with RTS with pausing, but their content often doesn't trill me.
04:42:24 Devastator: ..and yes, it still makes more sense.
04:42:37 MidJag: God the more I look at that the less sense it makes
04:43:05 ER: try eating a madman's knowledge
04:43:12 syv: Oh, in the comments, there's two *other* people who apparently think it's cute.
04:43:25 syv: Nobody insulting it, so good for the artist, I guess.
04:43:34 MidJag: The only way that could be weirder is if the human arms also had vaginas
04:43:41 MidJag: It's well drawn at least.
04:43:42 Devastator: Those comments would be blocked if that happened, syv.
04:43:53 Devastator: ..no, it isn't well drawn. The perspective is terrible.
04:43:56 MidJag: And the design is intresting if bizzare and eyegouging
04:44:00 ER: I've decided not to view it. I'm probably one of the ones who'd find it cute, because everything is cute.
04:44:02 syv: Oh? I didn't know Deviantart had that.
04:44:17 syv: @MJ there's more under the gloves, I'll bet.
04:44:29 Devastator: Nah, you won't find it cute, ER.
04:44:32 syv: Yeah, look at the reflection of the "floor".
04:44:44 syv: They couldn't even line up the legs.
04:44:54 syv: And the pedipalps are different sizes. And shapes.
04:45:05 syv: ...And, gah, everything about the art is bad.
04:45:06 MidJag: probably, for the weirdest handjob in the history of handjobs.
04:45:32 Devastator: There's no way someone hasn't written that fiction already.
04:45:45 syv: There's occasional shading, but every piece of shading manages to have its *own* light source.
04:45:58 syv: I can assure you it exists. Multiple different media, even. :\
04:46:38 MidJag: Huh, I must have very low standards for art.
04:46:50 Devastator: I've seen stuff worse drawn than that.
04:46:52 Devastator: much worse.
04:47:00 Devastator: but I wouldn't call that good.
04:47:10 MidJag: huh, your right, the reflections don't line up
04:47:13 MidJag: at all
04:47:23 syv: ...Yes. I've seen stick figures by toddlers that had very interesting ideas on the human body plan, and number of limbs.
04:47:33 syv: It's better than that. Vaugely.
04:47:49 Devastator: The toddler round body thing?
04:47:58 Devastator: Apparently that's something developmentally related for humans.
04:48:11 syv: I mean more like two arms on one side for no apparent reason.
04:48:15 Devastator: everyone in every culture does that.
04:48:23 syv: Round body, too, but that's different.
04:51:44 syv: Ohhh, the upper arms are supposed to be mantis claws.
04:54:43 MidJag: Huh, you know if you take the the drawing out of the equation a multi insect combo would be good MP beast.
04:55:26 syv: Sure. Insects in general are a good source of alien designs, and hybridizing them can make them more terrifying, if you're careful.
04:55:39 syv: If you're not careful, well. Some hybrids are just silly.
04:56:20 MidJag: Well of course
04:56:34 MidJag: I made a bear that was part saw part flamethrower. :P
04:57:09 syv: Still manages to at least be partly badass.
04:57:34 Devastator: all bear.
04:57:54 ER: "Heat Signature will be one Space Year old next week, which as we all know is an Earth year plus six days. To celebrate, we're launching a big free update we've been working on for five months, and best of all it's not in any way six days late."
04:58:45 MidJag: That flbearsaw was a fun enemy
04:59:01 MidJag: no, that wasn't the name
04:59:03 MidJag: Damn it.
04:59:10 MidJag: I'll have to figure out what it was
04:59:21 Devastator: Firefang.
04:59:32 Devastator: Smoky.
05:00:09 syv: "Flamesaw Bear"
05:00:15 MidJag: Nah it was a bizzare portmentua of flamethrower bear and buzz saw.
05:00:40 syv: "Bezz flamesaw"?
05:00:55 syv: That sounds like a shitty fanfiction self-insert.
05:01:28 MidJag: beor
05:01:31 MidJag: That was it
05:01:33 Devastator: That's okay.
05:01:59 Devastator: shitty fanfic self-insert is sometimes the desired effect.
05:02:34 MidJag: Groo watches as the wall is lifted off his feet screaming YOU CAN’T BREAK THIS WALL....BUT YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO MOVE IT!
05:02:49 Devastator: So what happenes next in Prequel?
05:03:15 MidJag: I fucking loved writing
05:03:17 MidJag: MP
05:04:15 syv: In Prequel? Sigrid points out that Katia is still in a cage, and she's still a powerful mage. Then kills Katia.
05:04:34 Devastator: I don't see that happening.
05:04:34 ER: still an atronach
05:04:39 Devastator: ..yeah.
05:04:41 syv: More likely, she apologizes, gives Katia some free stuff, and boots her out the door while asking her to never tell anyone about this.
05:04:46 Devastator: and not wearing all the magic resistance gear.
05:04:54 Devastator: Katia might actually win that fight.
05:05:06 syv: "I'm an atronach, that gives me a 50% chance of surviving anything you throw at me!"
05:05:07 MidJag: She killed a demon didn't she?
05:05:11 ER: aaaand katia can still fling fire, and sigrid doesn't have magical protection any more
05:05:36 Devastator: She killed an imp.
05:05:38 syv: "I'm not a magical cripple, and you don't healing magic, unliie myself, so I'll just keep throwing lightning at you until you die."
05:05:42 syv: "..."
05:05:49 Devastator: Or, IIRC, a "Greater Impmaster Murderboss."
05:06:03 MidJag: That was it
05:06:10 Devastator: Katia's done lots of throwing fire about.
05:06:22 Devastator: If it comes to that, she could probably set the whole town on fire.
05:06:29 syv: Imps don't get healing spells, and it was still throwing weak little flare spells rather than actually attacking her.
05:06:51 syv: Katia can't oneshot Sigrid, and Sigrid can heal.
05:07:15 syv: Hell, Sigrid can probably silence her. Might take a few tries, but it'll work.
05:07:18 Devastator: I don't know if she can outheal Katia's DPS.'
05:07:22 Devastator: and, silence doesn't work..
05:07:32 ER: ...
05:07:34 syv: Katia's DPS is pretty sad, considering she has no magicka regen.
05:08:02 ER: We couldn't get out of this cage BEFORE sigrid showed up, murder is probably not a top option here
05:08:02 syv: Silence DOES work against flare. It doesn't work against untargeted fires, which won't help, and TK, which also won't help.
05:08:51 syv: Ehh, if she actually managed to kill Sigrid (which she also can't do because Sigrid is alive in Oblivion), she'd be let out by Stephane before starving to death.
05:09:38 syv: Also, like, seriously. Sigrid is ridiculously high level in Oblivion, and from everything we've seen she's no weaker in Prequel.
05:09:42 Devastator: Nah, she won't kill Sigrid, but she might scare sigrid if it came to a fight. I'm sure she could set her on fire.
05:09:58 Devastator: Isn't she at the standard rating for NPCs of Player +5?
05:10:01 syv: Sigrid probably could have gone into Kvatch and killed all the daedra herself, no problem.
05:10:17 syv: No? Ugh. I'll go check.
05:11:02 Devastator: Well, yeah, anyone could because they're levelled opponents..
05:11:40 syv: Oh, no, level 10. I must've confused her with one of the other refugees. Still, that's nine levels on kitty.
05:12:50 Devastator: No way she's level 1.
05:14:44 Devastator: I'd guess she's at about level 4.
05:15:22 syv: Doesn't the hero start at Level 1?
05:15:34 syv: Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Katia is level 0.
05:15:49 syv: Not that level *really* matters for the PC.
05:15:58 Devastator: Yeah, it's better the lower it is. ;-p
05:16:14 Devastator: Actually, Katia could put on Sigrid's clothing.
05:16:25 Devastator: it's right there next to the bars and she does have instant-dressing power.
05:16:37 Devastator: Then order sigrid around.
05:17:02 MidJag: I could see Katia being level 0
05:17:34 syv: Okay, it was Oleta I was thinking of. She's a priest at the chapel, and is level 40. The highest level daedra that can spawn, no matter the players level, are level 22.
05:17:53 Devastator: Nah, she's not level 0. The only absolute oddity is that for some reason she seems to have zero luck, which makes her far more terrible at anything than she is on paper.
05:18:12 syv: She's also a master of restoration.
05:19:00 Devastator: Any thoughts about Irony's new game?
05:19:15 MidJag: I haven't looked into it.
05:19:44 syv: Nor have I.
05:20:37 ER: I in it!
05:20:41 ER: birds!
05:20:50 syv: Birds?
05:20:56 ER: biiiiiirds
05:20:58 syv 's interest sharply declines
05:21:19 ER: well okay
05:21:39 Devastator: It's wizards in straight RTD, but you get a bonus basically related to one word.
05:21:48 syv: Heh, in Oblivion, the levelup message for restoration is: "The secret energies of the human body have not surrendered their mysteries easily to you."
05:22:09 syv: So not that helpful for beastfolk.
05:22:25 syv: Can your word be "magic"?
05:23:13 Devastator: Maybe. I think someone wanted metamagic.
05:26:49 syv: ...Huh, if you start with Conjuration as a major skill, which the witch hunter class does, you also start with the spells "Summon skeleton", and "turn undead".
05:27:01 syv: So Katia might keep that skeleton summoning ability.
05:28:15 syv: Mysticism as a starting skill gets you "minor dispel" and "minor life detection".
05:28:43 ER: Um no, what dev just described is not a mechanic in Irony's latest game at all
05:29:02 syv: Minor dispel only works on self, though.
05:30:38 Devastator: Yeah... pick your type of magic, and it can be basically any one word.
05:38:33 Devastator: It's not exactly the same, but it isn't that different.
05:38:58 ER: It's very different from what you said
05:39:06 syv: Fight! Fight!
05:39:11 Devastator: Describe it, then.
05:39:54 ER: you have one skill at +5 and two skills at +3 and those skills can be basically anything that could reasonably be a skill.
05:40:11 syv: "Casting magic"?
05:40:18 ER: Hopefully magic, because otherwise you'll be left out of everyone exploding.
05:40:35 Devastator: "Indestructability."
05:40:46 syv: Is it straighr RTD like Mainpiston, where +5 meant you would almost always explode?
05:40:52 ER: that's... not a skill you goblin
05:41:03 syv: How does one become skilled at indestructibility, Dev?
05:41:14 Devastator: 100 sit ups.
05:41:16 Devastator: 100 push ups
05:41:19 Devastator: 100 squats
05:41:21 Devastator: and a 10 km run.
05:41:23 ER: no, it's STRIGHT rtd, higher skill lets you DO more things with your actions
05:41:24 Devastator: every single day.
05:41:38 ER: skill does not change chances of success in the slightest.
05:41:57 MidJag: so you explode ER?
05:42:16 ER: straight rtd + magic usually means explosions, yes.
05:43:13 Devastator: 'exploding'
05:43:26 Devastator: 'mad science'
05:43:32 Devastator: 'mad wizardry.'
05:48:46 Devastator: "Tranmutation" "Time Magic" "Abiogenesis."
05:49:53 Devastator: Should be fun.
05:50:22 syv: @ER straight RTD normally has rolls above 6 be increasingly more powerful overshots,
05:50:52 syv: So +5 to "summoning lasers" is grest for blowing up the moon, but bad for performing eye surgery.
05:51:56 Devastator: So what have you gotten up to with crow magic, ER?
05:52:52 ER: Straight RTD meaning no numerical bonuses
05:54:06 ER: +5 isn't "add 5 to your roll", it's "your action involving this can have 5 different aspects"
05:54:41 Devastator: summon crow. Enhance the number of crows x 4.
05:58:02 MidJag: Alright, I'm going to bed.
05:58:05 Devastator: ok.
05:58:10 MidJag: good night
05:58:19 MidJag has left #einsteinianroulette
05:58:38 Devastator: good night.
06:40:09 ER: i would say something clever but I'm pretty tired
06:41:12 syv: I would say something clever but I'm not clever.
06:41:35 ER: are you tired?
06:42:10 syv: That too, yeah.
06:42:53 ER: Then I have a leg up on you, because I'm definately clever!
06:43:07 ER: just, you know, not right now
06:43:18 ER: it's situational, you know how it is
06:43:58 syv: Yeah.
07:17:07 ER: ay
07:17:19 Devastator: lmao
07:17:24 ER: my body hurts some, I'm going to rest it
07:17:57 ER: send me any questions at gaben at valve software dot com

20:44:07 ER: forums down?
20:50:40 Devastator: Seemed to be down earlier.
20:50:52 Devastator: Yeah, look like they're still down.
20:55:03 Devastator: looks.
22:43:34 Devastator: still down, hmm.
22:44:58 ER: still closed! still closed! hmm. hmmmmmmm.
22:48:37 Devastator: I'm late!
22:48:39 Devastator: I'm late!
22:57:02 ER: Heh.
22:58:01 ER: Heat Signature has a special enemy now, where if you step inside a certain radius of them, they'll instantly detect you, teleport to you, and stab you.
22:58:23 Devastator: so.. can you put your back to the wall and stab at the same time you step into range, and win that way?
22:59:03 ER: It specifies that shields won't help you because their blade is already inside you the moment they teleport.
22:59:14 ER: So that's mautual at best.
22:59:20 Devastator: aww.
22:59:32 Devastator: So why teleport the enemy instead of just teleporting knives inside other people?
23:10:24 ER: They're basically doing that, and you can basically do that
23:15:31 Devastator: oh good.
23:40:04 Devastator: Still down. I hope it won't be down for too long.
