05:21:42 Devastator: Hmm, lets see if that character guesser can hit Napoleon III.
05:23:23 Devastator: Heh, guess Lafeyette, which is pretty damn good, but wrong.
05:29:40 Devastator: "Does your character lose in the end?" Most definately, yes.
05:34:30 Devastator: That would be a contender for the shortest way to sum up his life, actually.
05:34:43 Devastator: Here lies Emperor Napoleon III, he lost in the end.
11:13:15 Devastator: Heh, had difficulty guessing DDRJake, mostly because the learning bot doesn't have accurate info about him.
11:14:01 Devastator: "Is he linked to a form of transport" "Yes." (wanted No.) when he does lots of transport sims.
11:14:26 Devastator: "Does he create memes" "Yes" (wanted No). 'X is just a number.'

15:42:20 parisbre56: don't know how you feel about ooc info
15:42:35 syv: I'm already ignoring OOC info for this plan.
15:42:38 parisbre56: it means that it wasn't immediately evident that moku was passed
15:43:11 syv: Ah, Wiellste could be possessed. That could be problematic.
15:44:17 syv: Hmm. Nah. Only way I could see for that be useful is if Nyw threw her possessed body into the guards, but that's something he'd never do for many reasons.
15:45:03 syv: And as far as the danger inherent to it, even if he were aware of the risk (he forgot Moku's possession), he'd pretty much just shrug and say "It is a lesser problem".
15:46:57 parisbre56: ok, just saw you were online and thought I'd give you the info
15:47:09 parisbre56: haven't even read your action, just got the mail notification
15:47:47 parisbre56: anyway, gonna go take a swim, talk to you later
15:47:53 syv: Nyw's just asking Adam to incinerate the relic so he has cover/incapacitation while killing guards.
15:48:02 parisbre56 is now known as parisbre56[Away]
15:51:04 syv: Hrm. It's also notable b/c if Nyw tries to dive, odds are good he'll fail, and if *he* got possessed, that'd be very bad. Possession is less likely than success, I suppose, but would tip the scales further, since far too many things have to go right to win this.

18:32:40 ER: cause i *like* my moth chaarcter dammit :p
18:33:19 syv: Poor Wiellste, she dies so much.
18:33:37 ER: I'm fairly sure that I didn't kill myself with the same artifact twice, though
18:34:05 ER: first time I borrowed adam's second time you handed me the big artifact
18:36:49 syv: I thought she used the relic the first time, but come to think of it that was Kara, yeah.
18:50:24 syv: So... make any progress on Refine lately? Or just Surge?
18:51:28 ER: got my teeth cleaned tho! :V
18:53:17 syv: Are you still interested in running Injury?
18:54:04 ER: I still intend to finish the PM test but I literally forget about it whenever I stop looking at it :V
18:54:43 ER: Sides that, I don't feel like starting it for real right now
18:55:50 ER: It's kinda interesting, but I'm not sure what I'd get out of it, exactly. It would require other people coming up with entertaining ideas, kinda, because rolling dice to fight demons isn't actually that fun.
18:56:26 ER: maybe if it had tactical combat, but dunno how to accomplish that.
18:57:06 ER: And I don't think I can fake tactics very well with a basic RTD system, seeing what happened with P&P.
18:58:52 syv: Could try and run it diceless.
19:00:36 ER: I *really* hope that refine would not result in hiding in the treeline with a rifle, because apparantly I can't handle that.
19:00:55 ER: Come on guys throw spirit bombs at each other!
19:01:10 ER: "But bullets are cheaper! D:"
19:01:45 ER: Run up and hit the beastie with a halberd!
19:01:59 syv: The action takes place in a Labyrinth, there's no treeline if you don't want there to be~
19:02:09 ER: "Nuuu, I'm gonna set up this bear trap in its path!"
19:02:10 syv: Plus, you can make enemies immune to bullets.
19:02:59 ER: There's also no trees in the desert.
19:03:35 syv: And even if they do hide in the treeline, they can just win, since it's not PvP.
19:04:02 syv: Unless you were secretly planning something like that XCOM arms race game, and intended to have
Dev play the witches.
19:04:14 ER: Still. I want to gripe about handing people sweet iron man suits with guns and them deciding the best thing to do is fight the enemy by lighting a forest fire.
19:04:43 ER:
Dev doesn't need to play a witch because he's already one.
19:08:12 syv: Do you have any ideas for witches you'd make in Refine?
19:09:04 ER: Really I have more of a list of witch types
19:10:07 syv: Well, that's what I started with.
19:12:04 ER: lowest being basically random shadows lurking in abandoned places, things without even enough hope to be threatning. Then rogue familiars. Then wandering witches, then those with a labrynth. On top are True witches, which are very powerful and provide a seed that can refine you.
19:13:43 ER: Because witches are the mature form of magical girls and can thus reproduce, except because formally there was only one sex they would only reproduce asexually. Now because hunters exist there are witches of both sexes, so. <.<
19:15:24 parisbre56[Away] is now known as parisbre56
19:17:33 syv: How are hunters different from witches, aside from gender?
19:19:47 ER: Superficially the appearance of humanity. Witches can't communicate very well. On a more functional level, witches generate Life constantly by being miserable, whereas Hunters for the most part need an external source of Life.
19:21:38 parisbre56: oh, just read your turn. very good idea with the artifact, assuming the effects are instantaneous. I'll edit my action to give you my lighter, you could bathe it in oil. if it's not immediate, then I hope someone has the sense to hug the guards so they don't trigger the collar
19:22:54 syv: Hmm. Coating it in oil might work, yeah. I had considered just trying to light it with a flame, but figured it wouldn't catch.
19:23:24 syv: Sacrificing oil might possibly also be helpful, though I'm unsure.
19:23:42 syv: Seems like it would make sense as a reagent, but isn't very valuable.
19:24:58 ER: Witches are the only things that aren't slowly dying, and are ultimately the product of weird cat aliens trying to keep the universe from decaying. Hunters are an adaptation of the collective will of the human race, because humans had grown reliant on magical girls.
19:25:06 syv: Oh, and I thiiink Radio was originally the one who came up with the relic smoke idea, awhile ago. Not sure if it was him in particular, but I didn't come up with it.
19:27:41 parisbre56: why do hunters need an external source? are girls more emotional, as per puela lore
19:29:42 ER: Because the most efficent way to violate thermodynamics and create energy from whole cloth is suffering, and rampant suffering causes a hunter to transform themselves into a witch
19:30:16 syv: Ohh, so they aren't males. They're just a different type.
19:30:43 ER: There's not much difference between males and females here
19:31:11 ER: other than the fact that alien dickcats selected females
19:38:10 ER: Or maybe there were practical reasons to pick only one sex, and he lied.
19:38:44 ER: Or they didn't really look very hard at humans before coming up with a plan.
19:42:35 syv: Are hunters like feral NPC Magical Kids?
19:43:38 syv: Ohh. Duh. That's a much better name than "Magical Kids". :P
19:43:48 syv: What are Psuedohunters, then?
19:44:42 ER: They're the offspring of two witches, and... basically feral NPC magical kids.
19:45:18 ER: My thought was something like the demon child in digger
19:45:18 syv: Do witches have to originally have been of different genders to create psuedohunters?
19:45:41 syv: Or was the demon child something else?
19:46:02 ER: Yeah, witches retain their sex from when they were human. Though it would be hard to tell just from looking at one.

21:23:23 Devastator: Just read Twinwolf's action in Pumsy's.
21:24:24 syv: Neither Twin nor Mina has initiative, and her char is being magically calmed on top of that.
21:24:37 Devastator: Yeah, but it's almost like reading a parody.
21:24:52 syv: But yeah, she's prolly gonna have to get pushed by Alida before she does anything, aside from maybe following Alida.
21:25:14 Devastator: I don't think Twin is going to do anything.
21:25:21 syv: Parodies are supposed to be funnt.
21:26:00 syv: Probably not, yeah. I'm expecting Alida to chew her out eventually, assuming her idleness doesn't get her killed.
21:30:13 syv: I may not have thought out this particular debuff very well.
21:30:16 Devastator: Yeah. I'll post stuff to actually do in a day or so.
21:30:28 Devastator: Well, Alida, as far as I can tell, didn't see anything.
21:30:58 syv: Nope. Heard a scream, then the scream stopped, no more noise.
21:31:14 Devastator: I think she'll figure it out if Twin says that was Sasha.
21:31:31 Devastator: But I'm amazed that straight up asking what happened doesn't lead to an answer.
21:31:38 Devastator: That's where the parody bit shows up.
21:36:11 Devastator: I'm tempted to just play it out and let Sasha die or nearly die.
21:36:40 Devastator: But I don't know if that would be punishing the wrong person.
21:38:03 Devastator: Oh, been playing with a machine learning 20 questions thing.
21:39:33 Devastator: Yeah. Trying to pick out things it knows about but can't guess is pretty tricky. Just stumping it is easy.
21:40:19 syv: Also, Aleksandra pretty much won't die. Asha will get a warning before she does, and Soothe is... literally magic.
21:40:58 Devastator: I can't be certain Asha would actually do so successfully.
21:41:29 syv: There's tons of things that it can't get, yeah. It's very limited by who is a popular choice to play, and by characters and people having many, many, many similar traits to other specific people.
21:42:06 Devastator: Yeah. It's also enjoyable trying to get it to guess someone with the minumum number of plays. Had someone with 101 plays, which was fun.
21:43:07 Devastator: I think I'll see if it'll guess Selan from Lufia II.
21:43:12 syv: Don't think I've ever seen that.
21:43:36 syv: Everything I've ever gotten it to recognize had many, many plays.
21:45:17 Devastator: Well, you gotta let it be wrong on first guess.
21:45:23 Devastator: everyone it guesses first time is pretty common.
21:45:44 Devastator: Hmm, that's a tricky question.
21:45:51 Devastator: "Is your character from a Nintendo game?"
21:46:53 syv: I would Wikipedia it and just go with whatever that says, but since you're bringing it up I bet you have a story about the intricacies of the development and ownership of the franchise.
21:47:39 Devastator: Acutally, I don't know that much offhand about Lufia II, but it was released on the SNES, but not a first-party title.
21:48:13 Devastator: Looking it up, yeah, that's the case.
21:48:19 Devastator: so I don't know if it counts or not.
21:49:10 Devastator: Nah, I'll say no. It isn't on the NES, nor is it made by Nintendo, so it'll be no.
21:49:45 Devastator: First guess: Aqua, from on of the KH games.
21:49:51 Devastator: Amusingly she has the same hair colour.
21:51:11 Devastator: Okay, I think it'll get it on second guess. It asked some relevant questions.
21:51:25 Devastator: Yup, there it goes.

21:53:54 Devastator: Let me check what the 'right' answer was to that question.
21:54:26 Devastator: It never asked anyone playing Selan that Nintendo Game question.
21:55:19 Devastator: Huh, looks like some bad info or a misclick. Someone said Yes to "Is your character from the Three Kingdoms Period of China?" (which is certainly a no.)
21:57:48 syv: Is there othee info about that run? Could've been someone throwing junk into the system.
22:01:43 Devastator: Nah, it just lists the questions you answered and what answer it expected.
22:01:55 Devastator: which is what someone previously playing that character said.
22:02:12 Devastator: I mostly find it amusing for when it asks questions that are accidently relevant.
22:02:27 Devastator: 'Does your character lose in the end' for Napoleon III, for instance.
22:02:39 Devastator: That's disappointing.
22:02:56 Devastator: Nobody's played the AC from "The Final Question."
22:04:03 Devastator: yeah, "The Last Question", sorry.
22:04:15 Devastator: I think it tripped up because it only asks about novels, and not literature.
22:04:40 Devastator: (I figured it would whiff on short stories, but that's one of the most famous short stories of them all.)
22:06:06 syv: Nhhnn... "AC"? Was this the one with the computer that calculates a stupid question forever even as the stars go out and the intrastellar mindbeings that humanity has become are absorbed into it?
22:06:58 Devastator: I'm amazed it whiffed despite asking the question "Is your character famous for creating ths universe?"
22:09:49 syv: Yeah, that's... that's pretty specific.
22:09:55 Devastator: "Then, too, it has had the strangest effect on my readers. Frequently someone writes to ask me if I can give them the name of a story, which they think I may have written, and tell them where to find it. They don't remember the title but when they describe the story it is invariably 'The Last Question'. This has reached the point where I recently received a long-distance phone call from a...
22:09:57 Devastator: ...desperate man who began, "Dr. Asimov, there's a story I think you wrote, whose title I can't remember—" at which point I interrupted to tell him it was 'The Last Question' and when I described the plot it proved to be indeed the story he was after. I left him convinced I could read minds at a distance of a thousand miles. "
22:14:06 syv: Also, I forgot Akinator has limits for mobile. Was up to question 25 for "Undead Prince Ricard", when it said I have to download their stupid app to do more.
22:14:56 Devastator: Might have to do it through proxy.
22:16:15 syv: I can just run it again with "Request Desktop Site" checked (I think--interface might not work), prolly just lost the progress.
22:16:51 Devastator: The desktop site isn't complicated.
22:17:32 syv: Though maybe that's good, my first character was Jayfeather (16k guesses, stupid choice), and then the third question next try is "Does your character stand on two legs?". Jayfeather's a cat, and I haven't seen that question before, so...
22:17:49 Devastator: It's big because of Getting Over it.
22:17:57 Devastator: useful for lots of stuff, actually.
22:18:48 Devastator: That game about the guy in the pot with the hammer.
22:19:30 syv: I remembered, just before you said it. Then it still took me a minute to understand why leg count matters.
22:19:45 syv: Wonder what Armok's image is, nowadays. Maybe it hasn't changed.
22:21:00 Devastator: I don't think I could play Armok, don't know enough about him.
22:21:10 Devastator: Although I do wonder what would happen if I play Cacame.
22:22:15 syv: Heh, under last ten games, "A guy who plays randomly".
22:23:07 Devastator: Can't, anyway, the description images are gone.
22:24:22 syv: ...Does a full-face plate helmet count as a hat?
22:24:42 syv: Ehh, he wears a crown in DaS III, that counts.
22:25:02 Devastator: I mean for being able to answer questions, such as hair colour.
22:25:35 syv: Ohh, image rot from the Cacame thread.
22:26:02 syv: I'd think there's still some fanart floating around.
22:26:29 Devastator: yeah, but hair colour seems to alter.
22:28:37 syv: Toady should unban the wayback machine. He makes enough, should be affordable now. :(
22:29:32 Devastator: I don't think I've followed the monthly donations since I donated around 2008.
22:29:38 Devastator: How is Toady doing?
22:31:30 Devastator: Although, for the record, that's about twice was Toad was getting in 2008.
22:31:53 Devastator: back then Toady was getting from 2k to about 4k.
22:32:36 syv: Though IIRC that's shared with Zach, so not stellar. Still, I'd think server costs for B12 wouldn't be too significant, and the wayback machine wouldn't be a problem now.
22:33:38 Devastator: It might be, actually. I think the server probably costs about 1k a month.
22:34:01 Devastator: 6k split two ways is a good salary, but Toady might live in one of the expensive cities.
22:36:18 syv: "Does your character have human skin?"
22:37:05 syv: He lives in Silverdale, which isn't a populous city I don't think. Honestly don't know though, never heard of it otherwise.
22:37:20 syv: Just, an entertaining way to phrase it.
22:37:53 Devastator: Ahh, that's fine then.
22:38:48 Devastator: "Please come up with a definition of good character that Donald Trump can clear."
22:39:15 syv: "Entertaining and fun to write."
22:40:39 Devastator: You have answered an unanswerable question.

22:55:30 syv: ...Why were you reading Twitter?
22:56:44 syv: "Is your character made by humans." For a fictional character. -.-
22:57:17 syv: ...Hell, even real humans were made by humans.
23:01:46 syv: Damn it, I finally got through all the questions he'd try asking (>70), and he asked me if the char was in a list. Ricard was the FIRST ONE, but when I click, technical problems. So I can't see how many plays he's got.
23:02:41 syv: Akinator guessed both Solaire and Black Iron Tarkus first, and was clearly going for Artorias with the questions, but then got off track and asked a bunch of stuff that was essentially already answered.
23:18:51 Devastator: sometimes it intentionally asks random questions.
23:18:51 Devastator: Not necessarily,
syv.
23:18:51 Devastator: Lets say you picked a famous animal.
23:19:21 syv: Repeatedly asking about wolves and blue clothing right after I said no to Solaire?
23:19:42 Devastator: Solaire wears blue clothing?
23:20:24 syv: The random stuff that was already answered was like "Is your char from a video game?" after I already said they were from Dark Souls.
23:20:42 syv: Also sports jerseys and a couple shows I've never heard of.
23:21:18 syv: Completely different things which are often mutually exclusive.
23:23:09 Devastator: But yeah, some questions are intentionally random.
23:23:18 Devastator: Heh, playing TES Arena.
23:23:42 Devastator: "What is neither fish nor flesh, feathers nor bone, but still has fingers and thumbs of its own?"
23:23:56 Devastator: (I've re-gotten to the furthest point I have gotten in the game, which is past this room.)
23:24:53 syv: Mountain? Also, you haven't beaten it?
23:25:46 Devastator: I've cleared the first main dungeon, of which this is the final bit of, but I've never made it to the second province and either of its related dungeons.
23:27:20 Devastator: Had my save go corrupt.
23:27:20 Devastator: So what's the riddle answer?
23:27:56 syv: I guessed mountain as my first thought, but then I've never heard of a mountain range with thumbs, so.
23:28:06 syv: I'm not in the mood to be thinky.
23:28:39 syv: Clever. Though gloves can totally be flesh.
23:31:30 Devastator: and marmalized by the hellhounds behind the door.
23:32:00 Devastator: got them after a quick reload, though, had a crystal of shielding that grants twenty seconds of invulnerability. Also, they're much less danagerous in melee than at ranged, where they breathe fire.
23:34:35 syv shivers, remembering the hell that is the hotdog-guarded fire keeper soul
23:34:42 Devastator: There we go, Jagar Tharn just spoke to me.
23:34:44 Devastator: Now I can play him.
23:37:23 Devastator: Heh, 272 times, for the record.
23:37:54 syv: Wow. I'd have expected more.
23:38:05 Devastator: He's the kind of character easy to narrow down, but obscure so there won't be many plays.
23:38:16 Devastator: Oh come on, like you know who the villain of TES I was. ;-p
23:38:51 Devastator: "Is your character from the Elder Scrolls series", while being a villain? There's not many options.
23:39:04 syv: I didn't know he was the villain of TES I, but he's mentioned in Oblivion, I think. I recognized the name.
23:41:14 Devastator: I think in Oblivion he only happened like twenty years ago.
23:42:32 Devastator: basically he couped the emperor via magic and took his place by illusioning up his minions as the imperial guard, while creating a fake emperor to rule through.
23:43:34 Devastator: You know, I'm going to submit a better picture.
