04:00:32 Devastator: no anime at this time, need nap badly.
04:00:49 Devastator:
Dev needs sleep badly.
04:01:18 Devastator: also, good to see
syv managed to wreck mook. ;-p
04:01:28 MidJag: Well get some sleep
dev
04:02:58 Devastator: thinking 2 hour nap.
04:04:27 Devastator: oh, also, added something to extinction.
04:04:41 Devastator: sorry for hurring it, but want to keep it moving.

04:05:39 syv: I REALLY need to find a less crashy IRC app
04:35:30 syv: Also how is computer going? :3
04:41:27 ER: monitor I've got here doesn't show anything. but also it doesn't have a connection on it new enough to plug into the graphics card
06:13:35 ER: this is the dark souls of anime
06:18:20 ER: I believe it's been 5 minutes now
MidJag
06:23:29 syv: What's the next episode of Cells, anyway?
06:24:14 Devastator: either S2 or Black.
06:26:01 ER: well, I don't think I have either of those!
06:26:13 MidJag: Didn't the download for S1 come with both?
06:32:55 syv: I'm fine with whatever, but did we really finish the first season?
06:32:55 MidJag: I could watch that time travel show thing
06:34:29 syv: We didn't watch the last episode of Cells S1
06:34:57 syv: Apparently Hemorrhagic Shock was too dark to end on.
06:37:35 MidJag: Real tone whiplash there
06:37:35 MidJag: And yeah I mean they ended up being fine
06:37:35 syv: Hemorrhagic shock was pretty dark for this show
06:37:35 syv: Lots of red blood cells died.
06:37:35 MidJag: Hey I mean all bleeding stops eventually
06:37:35 Devastator: all I know about S2 is that it's lighter than S1, and Black is darker.
06:37:35 MidJag: Also RBC got to show she's good in a crises.
06:37:35 syv: I never sent code black's torrent, did I?
06:37:35 Devastator: well if 2 is to saccharine, we can shift to that one.
06:38:08 MidJag: I want to see the total mood shift.
06:38:44 Devastator: It does have a (sp), so it might be like an OVA.
06:38:53 syv: Waiting on
MJ to ready E14
06:39:04 syv: It's still 23 mins, so *shrug*
06:39:12 syv: OVA would just mean more production value.
06:40:42 MidJag: I wonder if it's going to freeze again
06:41:24 syv: Your tech curse only feeds upon your need for computers.
06:41:40 syv: You know, it's odd that this show has an English OP.
06:42:01 MidJag: I guess I got a magical ability to guess and in exchange the dark god took my ability to interact with computers
06:42:46 MidJag: But in a differnt place this time
06:42:46 MidJag: Why is it a different place
06:42:46 Devastator: pause at end of OP then.
06:43:28 MidJag: This dark god really screwed me over
06:43:42 MidJag: It did even specify I had to be drunk to be able to guess things
06:43:51 syv: Yeah, you really lost out.
06:45:46 Devastator: ...that's gotta be a pretty weird process.
06:45:51 MidJag: Heh, I like the idea of incredibly complex biochemistry just being a normal workday to cells, because thats what it is.
06:45:57 MidJag: Just a normal day to them.
06:48:26 MidJag: I just realized that the cold cell virus is a joker because cold cell viruses don't do much but fuck with you.
06:48:37 MidJag: and piss the fuck out of your immune system
06:48:58 ER: time for collatoral damage?
06:49:28 MidJag: I mean sure some do more, but your generic one is pretty well constrained if you aren't massively immunocomprimised.
06:49:40 Devastator: doesn't reproduce much?
06:50:18 MidJag: Uhh it's mostly that your immune systems quite good at dealing with it normally.
06:51:01 MidJag: I think it's showing your immune system attacking healthy cells as it gets confused?
06:51:54 ER: random tissue cell learns the value of trolling
06:52:27 MidJag: Oh I see, RBC doesn't have to care because she odesn't have a nucleus.
06:52:41 Devastator: we're way back at the basics.
06:53:17 MidJag: IIRC I think this is also how clamidia works as well, most of the dmaage comes from your immune system trying to kill the fuck out of it.
06:53:40 MidJag: But it's a bacteria, so it's pretty different
06:54:06 Devastator: well it is her job, after all. ;-p
06:54:46 syv: Fucking with a lot of people who are terrible to piss ff
06:55:08 MidJag: I mean it is a virus, it's about as close to immortal as you can get.
06:55:28 MidJag: I've got no idea what that guy is.
06:55:44 Devastator: some kinda immune cell starting with a b.
06:55:47 ER: "you cannot kill me in any way that matters"
06:56:01 MidJag: Ah right, I have no idea what they do.
06:56:08 Devastator: apparently nobody does.
06:56:10 MidJag: Nor does I think anyone else
06:56:16 Devastator: so that's why the character acts so confusing.
06:57:32 MidJag: Oh fuck I know what this is supposed to be
06:57:45 MidJag: That's what all that fucking around was.
06:58:12 MidJag: So a lysogenic cycle virus is where it hides in cells until certain stresses happen.
06:58:30 MidJag: Lytic is what happens when the virus gets activated.
06:58:34 MidJag: I'm explaining this poorly
06:58:54 Devastator: fucking about is it lying low to activate later.
07:00:26 ER: no overactive immune system in this?
07:01:04 MidJag: Essentially normally viruses show up, infect a cell and then burst out of it. Thats a lytic cycle. Lysogenic is where the virus shows up and infects something but then it doesn't do anything and hangs around in the cells being replicated, then when certain stresses happen the lytic cycle is activated..I think sometimes en masse? I'm nots sure about that one, no one ever really explains that.
07:01:07 syv: EVERYONE got really active for a pretty insignificant threat
07:01:34 Devastator: when just one stabby boy coulda solved it?
07:01:56 Devastator: I do like how the better armed Killer T cells don't have weapons.
07:02:15 Devastator: that's the B cell guy.
07:02:17 MidJag: Lysogenic cycles are fun.
07:03:38 ER: rbc kinda sat that one out, huh?
07:04:11 MidJag: Yeah I mean RBC's don't really have nucleuses or get infected with viruses...typically
07:04:24 MidJag: They're kinda dead ends for viruses
07:04:42 Devastator: yeah, since their job is 'move around a lot.'
07:05:06 MidJag: Yup, I don't think they even have ribosomes.
07:05:18 MidJag: Or any kind of repair mechanism.
07:05:42 Devastator: that is pretty stripped down.
07:05:51 MidJag: They're kinda just bags of protien.
07:06:15 MidJag: I might be wrong on that last part, but that's my understanding of it.
07:06:29 syv: I think I mentioned it before, but I googled this and read about an antiviral treatment which gave people a blood infusion with treated RBCs that have some kinda receptor viruses target, to basically catch and neutralize most of them.
07:06:32 ER: like a super stripped down racing car, any extra weight is grinded off :p
07:07:09 MidJag: Oh yeah you told me about this
syv. That did sound neat
07:07:30 syv: I think they were trying to develop it to treat HIV.
07:07:46 ER: in the context of show that would be... syringe in the sky handing out thousands of knives to rbcs?
07:07:49 MidJag: I think you would need a lot of blood for that.
07:08:11 MidJag: But honestly might work when I think about it.
07:08:29 syv: No, it'd be syringe in the sky airdropping tons of RBCs who are totally normal, but also have knives and REALLY hate certain viruses.
07:08:47 syv: And yeah, I think it WAS effective, the problem was just the expense.
07:08:49 MidJag: ....Well actually I don't know the life span of WBC's you'd need enough RBC's to act as control rodds.
07:08:52 Devastator: it'd be ones that the pathogens just bounce off of.
07:09:02 syv: Lots of specially treated RBCs.
07:09:08 syv: Nah, it's the opposite,
Dev
07:09:18 Devastator: they lose their arms and such inside them?
07:09:19 MidJag: And then give them a fuck ton of antivirals to keep the ones it doesn't get caught in the rBCs
07:09:28 MidJag: God that would be intresting
07:09:30 syv: The viruses target the RBCs preferentially, and then are neutralized because they're trapped inside.
07:09:59 syv: And eventually just get eaten with the RBCs at the end of the lifecycle.
07:11:03 syv: Most accurate would be RBCs with huge mouths that just swallow viruses, I guesa, but I think this show bowdlerized WBCs eating things into having him spray them with acid.
07:11:07 MidJag: hmm, you'd need to get the virus to leave the WBC's somehow and sure it does that.
07:11:22 MidJag: This get's conceptually confusing
07:17:10 MidJag: Awww, the xenotraplant guy died. That's a fucking shame.
07:17:32 ER has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
07:20:49 Devastator: oh, just trying to keep things moving in Extinction,
syv.
07:20:58 Devastator: added a tactical question.
07:21:13 Devastator: also, I'm going to say 'hitall' doesn't hit stuff on top of the wall and on the ground below it.
07:21:24 Devastator: that's why I kinda did plan B too.
07:26:47 Devastator: ahh, buffed jello-beam.
07:27:52 Devastator: yeah, that should do some pretty serious damage.
07:29:07 Devastator: heavy + weakness, with Meditation.
07:29:19 Devastator: Sessha doing throws on anyone still up, I'm assuming.
07:35:42 Devastator: my local museum was (and is) about trees and a native village.
07:35:47 Devastator: ..and the other one is about trains.
07:36:19 syv: I think Sessha's probably best off hitting ladders.
07:36:48 Devastator: There's another one that's sort of a tourist trap related to early farmers from the area, and a bigger tourist trap about an hour and a half away about the gold rush.
07:38:43 syv: ...You know, it's odd that Isle Perilous sent poison-weak soldiers when going to war to kill the poison dragon.
07:39:14 Devastator: Refitting their entire army is a little costly.
07:39:14 MidJag: The air and space museum in huntsville had a bunch of pretty child friendlly things and my dad was willing to drive pretty long distances to see planes and rockets so I saw this thing a lot, it was in this little room that was like about teh future of warfare and had this simulator. Either that or it was in the main like family friendly museum in birmingham.
07:39:27 Devastator: their jungle forces aren't poison weak, and not every soldier is.
07:39:38 Devastator: the mass produced armour their infantry has is, though.
07:40:13 Devastator: I'm also not going to rig the world so that you never meet a poison weak enemy.
07:40:19 Devastator: you may well have never discovered this weakness.
07:40:45 MidJag: But yeah it was always kinda weird because most of the museum is super child friendlly excpet for that small room where you got to shoot down helicopters in an avenger.
07:41:03 MidJag: I can't rember if it was the mcwain center or the air and space museum is the problem.
07:41:28 syv: Aside from the fact that Sessha poisons her daggers in, like, every serious combat encounter
07:41:45 Devastator: but you might have fought at lowertown.
07:42:29 Devastator: which has lower tulian infantry, Concordat paladins, and Perilous Rangers.
07:44:02 Devastator: uppertown has upper tulian horse archers, Perilous infantry, and the normal concordat special forces.
07:44:18 syv: Still, just feels odd that the first time we meet a large group of enemies vulnerable to poison, they're fielded by the people with the most knowledge of our poison-heavy party.
07:44:44 syv: ...The term "special forces" is also odd in a fantasy setting
07:44:52 Devastator: I haven't come up with a name for them.
07:45:39 MidJag: Fancy name and it's sorta accruate?
07:46:18 syv: "Concordat Praetorians" sound badass
07:46:20 Devastator: I think the only two you've met were the bandit leader horseman and the dude in the inn. The one who Trence blabbed to.
07:47:26 syv: Be even better if they're actually Perilous aligned ;P
07:49:48 Devastator: Yeah, I think those are the only two Pratorians you've met.
07:49:58 syv: Actuallt seems *really* appropriate
07:50:27 syv: The two we met were basically acting as intelligence agents
07:51:56 Devastator: Yeah. Don't have uniforms on this kind of campaign, although there will be some identifier back at home.
07:53:02 Devastator: Also you haven't killed any of them yet, heh.
07:54:12 syv: "In year 41, it was disgust and hostility of a praetorian tribune, named Cassius Chaerea – whom Caligula teased without mercy due to his squeaky voice – which led to the assassination of the emperor by officers of the guard."
07:54:45 syv: No citation, but I want to believe
07:56:26 MidJag: There's a cool Keith Thompson art work of like future praetorians that refrences that I think
07:56:58 Devastator: also special forces make more sense in a setting where some people simply have more levels available to them.
07:59:40 syv: I still think Farflame should've chosen a dragon with a higher level. :P
08:00:09 Devastator: mind you, the one he picked ended up being the last survivor.
08:00:31 syv: I thought that was partly because it WAS the one he picked.
08:00:52 Devastator: wouldn't have survived two thousand years a statue without that.
08:01:12 Devastator: and Trence's level cap is 12, which isn't low.
08:03:37 Devastator: any questions or details?
08:03:46 Devastator: There's a lot of stuff I've talked about that hasn't hit the logs.
08:03:55 Devastator: wouldn't mind getting a bit more out in the open at this time.
08:04:38 syv: Nothing in particular, offhand.
08:05:30 syv: Do we get bonus Alicepoints for downing so much infantry?
08:05:43 Devastator: ..One of them, yeah.
08:13:50 MidJag: Alright I'm going to bed
08:14:09 syv: Nice watxhing anime with ya
