01:18:45 Devastator: that's fine, we're not really paying poker.
01:30:06 ER: completed that game. checked a walkthrough and there seems more stuff I didn't see, but maybe I'll give it a replay down the line.

syv, care to jump on here?
02:27:13 Devastator: (
syv reads the logs sometimes.)
02:31:56 piecewise: Most of his current issues are with things like how armor degradation is handled and the number of points to allocate at the start.

02:41:25 piecewise: Bear in mind that to keep things from being similar to the actual COE setting, I created an entirely different setting for this test. Which is fun, I enjoy creating settings.
02:48:57 Devastator: just.. it is new, right?
02:49:40 ER:
dev's obliged to still be locked up in prision in anything

02:53:11 piecewise: Is MIA technically scifi?
02:53:23 Devastator: It's all 'speculative fiction', so.. yeah.
02:57:26 piecewise: Sometimes sci-fi and fantasy are difficult to separate
02:57:40 piecewise: I'm gonna go check if there are any good anime this season
02:58:04 piecewise: New demon slayer, alright not bad
02:58:36 piecewise: Oh, Sono Bisque Doll got adapted.
02:59:33 Devastator: waiting on the next season of PM3..
03:00:11 piecewise: Dolls Frontline appears to be handling the "Girls suffering" quota this season

03:10:00 piecewise: Still pretty wholesome but not what I imagined
03:10:05 Devastator: Is there sexposition? ;-p
03:10:25 Devastator: but nah, assassination plots and demon rituals are G-rated anime.

03:20:05 Devastator: looks a lot uglier than I hoped, too. Mmm.
03:20:31 Devastator: well, bugfixes might make it worth it, but thousand-planet giant galaxies aren't a good feature.

03:33:07 piecewise: Its an interesting idea, if nothing else
03:36:14 Devastator: oh, we watched Men In Black last month.
03:37:51 Devastator: also, I've been playing Master of Orion III, one of the worst space strategy games ever made.
03:38:20 Devastator: It's a tour of feature creep combined with bad implementations.. there's a hundred features, none of which actually work.
03:40:38 piecewise: Also, the men in black cartoon was surprisingly good
03:40:49 Devastator: Oh yes, I had good memories of that.
03:41:04 Devastator: when it was new I actually had a schedule that was compatible with seeing the new episodes.
03:41:10 Devastator: so I watched the whole series.
03:41:33 piecewise: certainly better than any of the movies post 1
03:41:45 piecewise: maybe even better than the first one
03:42:25 Devastator: first one was good.
03:42:38 Devastator: there were some dud episodes.
03:43:03 piecewise: You gotta expect some duds in a series
03:43:17 Devastator: Didn't make me stop watching. ;-p
03:43:38 piecewise: Its got an interesting style to it.
03:44:50 Devastator: someone who doesn't get enough credit.
03:45:01 piecewise: Its got three creators
03:45:31 piecewise: All of them seem like heavy hitters
03:46:13 piecewise: Including one of the main producers of the simpsons
03:46:42 piecewise: Also apparently all of them worked on the starship troopers cartoon
03:47:09 Devastator: I think the only real thing that didn't work in it, and it was a really good series, was they never sold any of the attempts at a main villain.
03:47:22 Devastator: Not sure if they should have even tried.
03:47:28 piecewise: Yeah, it was always better just being episodic
03:47:39 piecewise: MIB never really had a "Big Bad"
03:47:53 piecewise: It was all just individual cases
03:48:22 Devastator: Yeah. Made for a good tone.
03:48:22 piecewise: At least thats how I pictured it
03:48:30 Devastator: I mean, it's serious shit, but at the same time, it's Tuesday.
03:50:33 Devastator: "You remember when they misplaced the whole concept of heads? No? How about when air and mucus switched roles? The Egghead harvests? Fisheye storms? The time the sun went perceptive and thought planets were trying to steal its soul? It's always something, and it almost always sorts out. I guess I'm "lucky" Bologna got sick and made me miss the bullcrap this time."
03:51:27 piecewise: Yeah. Saving the world every weekday
03:52:24 Devastator: Well, not really, just someone sitting the whole thing out.
03:52:27 Devastator: "Either mom takes the dog home to her kids after all this or a flesh pillar takes her jelly ball home to her red slugs. Maybe a jelly ball won't crap on my couch anymore."
03:53:54 Devastator: Not a good person, but it's a perspective.
03:58:26 Devastator: odd though, I think all the humans in that setting are similarly jaded. Except for Jay, who kinda went the wrong way.
03:58:36 Devastator: ..mind you, it's a sample size of 3.
03:59:49 Devastator: ..I'm also not counting Dr. Mann.
03:59:56 Devastator: ..which seems defensible.
04:00:40 Devastator: "Oh god, is that a big, sopping bag of medical waste? Are those needles? What kind of hospital throws away sharps in a plastic bag? What kind of hospital goes on to hire it as a nurse!?"
04:02:36 piecewise: Most people were pretty unflappable in that series
04:02:47 piecewise: At least most of the time
04:05:40 Devastator: could maybe stream something for you if you'd like.
04:08:28 piecewise: Hmmm. Not tonight. I think I'll be turning in early. Had a rough few days this week and wanna catch the zzzz I can
04:08:41 piecewise: Gonna leave this up, hopefully it doesn't disconnect
04:08:49 Devastator: I'll time it for you. ;-p

05:06:09 Devastator: how'd the hole game talk go with
PW?
05:06:52 syv: Basically I think he has a really good and smooth system, but it's doing stuff I haven't seen before, so I dunno how well it'll work.
05:07:26 syv: It looks like it'll be great, but it's hard to say without gameplay testing.
05:13:15 Devastator: Found a couple new ways to get shafted in MoO 3.
05:14:44 Devastator: I can't terraform a planet in favor of a minority race, even if I really want to do so. I picked up a couple of colonies with like six regions belonging to some minority race from the Ithkul, but they were almost exterminated before I took over the planet.
05:15:51 Devastator: so.. after recolonizing them, the extremely small numbers of those species make up a small minority of the planet's population because the one region controlled by one of my native races recieved 5.4 billion immigrants in one turn.
05:16:46 Devastator: which, since they're in the minority, means I can't terraform the planet towards them to improve their population growth rates and such.
05:18:13 Devastator: There's one planet with what I thought was the extinct protoplasmic species that fills 5/4 regions on their homeworld, which will likely never flip unless I get extremely creative with the regional population cap boosters.
05:20:41 Devastator: The other one should be fixable over the long term, because the race I want to keep fills all-but-one region.
05:24:00 Devastator: but yeah, the game has like 11 menus, there totally could be one more saying 'select species to terraform this planet towards.'
05:24:52 Devastator: Anyway, it isn't actually important, but it's something I should be able to do.
06:08:14 syv: There should really be a lot more control over populations
06:08:28 syv: You can play a species that eats people and conquers planets for more food
06:08:35 syv: But you can't ban immigration...
06:09:05 Devastator: well, you get a button you can push that makes more people move there.
