02:38:46 MidJag: I finished that book btw
02:40:21 MidJag: Yeah, I liked it, certainlly had some intresting plots and I defeintly want to see how it shakes out. My money is the rest of the world is quite advacned like probably 50's tech outside of the quarentine?
02:42:30 Devastator: There's few indicators.
02:42:53 MidJag: yeah, the docs were probably the strongest
02:43:05 MidJag: And I guess their dad is an artificer?
02:43:58 Devastator: He's the one and only Lantor Hinjuman.
02:44:10 Devastator: And he keeps waaay too many secrets.
02:45:01 Devastator: it's about two brothers who have the worst day in history.
02:45:07 MidJag: He is definetly in like top 30 of secret keeping characters I've read.
02:45:12 Devastator: okay. What happened to bird?
02:45:59 Devastator: in extinction you're doing a fine job of botching things. ;-p
02:47:31 MidJag: I mean I've read a lot of books.
02:47:37 MidJag: But he is definetly up there.
02:47:53 MidJag: Just in sheer lack of informaiton he gives people
02:48:09 Devastator: Hi, here's your brother.
02:48:11 Devastator: give him your shoes.
02:48:30 MidJag: Here's an orphan, give him your shoes
02:49:40 Devastator: it's big news when someone knows his name.
02:50:28 Devastator: and that's like all they know about him.
02:50:51 MidJag: That was a very intresting scene
02:51:01 Devastator: see my point about them being far and away the most intimidating threat?
02:51:24 MidJag: 2 bandits with good tactics.
02:51:35 Devastator: And the brothers could kill them.. easily!
02:51:42 Devastator: if they had a chance.
02:53:41 MidJag: I feel like it never really explained why the insanse girl went even more insanse when she fell in the pool
02:54:07 MidJag: Really my only criticism of that scene.
02:54:20 Devastator: They didn't explain much about Trouble in general.
02:54:45 MidJag: So is the second book any good?
02:55:01 MidJag: Or worth reading just to find out more about the story at least?
02:55:15 Devastator: It's not awful, but it's significantly worse.
02:55:38 Devastator: It also does a singularly bad plot point.
02:56:40 MidJag: Well I might still read it, I do like the world.
02:56:55 Devastator: In general it's just worse. There are some good scenes, some decent lines, but other stuff is off. Pacing isn't great.
02:57:15 Devastator: And it's really a lot more 'random shit happens' than the main characters getting themselves out of trouble.
02:58:00 Devastator: some secrets are also revealed that would have been better kept secret.
02:59:22 Devastator: Yeah, like you find out what a Yatra is.
02:59:53 Devastator: and why the MacGuffin is so sealed away.
03:00:24 MidJag: Ah. That's a shame, I liked the mystery of if he's actually possed or if he's just losing his mind.
03:00:54 Devastator: Mektu is questionable at best, really.
03:01:21 Devastator: he is good at the old twisted stuff, though.
03:01:23 MidJag: Mektu is approximetly 50% sane at any given moment in time.
03:01:44 Devastator: the stuff he's good for is stuff nobody else could do.
03:01:57 Devastator: but every other time he's a horrible bit of dead weight. ;-p
03:01:59 MidJag: yeah, like the bandit scene
03:02:25 MidJag: Which genuinely made me wonder if he was actually possesed.

03:03:58 Devastator: oh, also, did I ever tell you,
MJ, how my dog was stolen by an animal rescue society once?
03:04:14 Devastator: Apparently they also kidnap coyotes sometimes.
03:04:17 MidJag: This sounds like quite the story
03:04:25 Devastator: we have rosebushes.
03:04:30 Devastator: it rained the previous day.
03:04:36 Devastator: he was a sheltie who went digging.
03:04:54 Devastator: was basically covered in dirt and stray thorn branches, perfectly happy.
03:05:27 Devastator: Yeah, got dognapped. Was a pain to get them to return him.
03:05:38 MidJag: heh, so they thought he was a stray or something?
03:05:49 Devastator: "He's got a heart condition"
03:06:09 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
03:06:14 Devastator: "Yeah. And he was supposedx to be dead several years ago."
03:07:26 Devastator: it's unsurprising that zealots like that will occasionally kidnap coyotes.
03:07:33 MidJag: Did he have a collar or something?
03:08:02 MidJag: Yeah I could see someone like that accidently grabbign a coyote
03:08:05 Devastator: although he did look like a tubular bag of fluff, covered in dirt and rosebushes.
03:08:32 Devastator: of course, the bushes simply didn't bother him, being so fluffy. Was a sheltie.
03:09:05 Devastator: also liked to sleep out on the porch where he could get direct sun. And he was too old to go on adventures, so we let him out fairly often.
03:09:12 Devastator: I mean, it wasn't like he could get cold.
03:10:00 Devastator: the other dog had to be tethered when he was out.
03:10:10 MidJag: what was the other one?
03:10:38 MidJag: When I was a kid my family had a golden retriver/lab mut.
03:12:16 MidJag: Great dog, but god she loved digging, my main memory of her is her looking like some swamp monster that had just come in from a very satisfying adventure and me and my twin brother also being just covered in mud, because we were like 6 and had decided the dog had the right idea
03:13:12 Devastator: lab loved to swim, actually.
03:13:28 Devastator: one of the big reasons to tether him was so he didn't jump in the sewage lagoon.
03:13:41 MidJag: That is an important thing not jump into
03:14:08 Devastator: There is a pond on the properly that was probably deep enough for him to swim in, but it was far enough away you can see why he'd want the closer one.
03:15:58 Devastator: well, gonna wait until the hour.
03:16:04 Devastator: then I think I'll get the stream
started.
03:20:39 MidJag: What do you think of the Red Knight?
04:29:17 MidJag: i also got a response from a medical school
05:23:22 MidJag: Welp, I should go to bed.
05:46:26 ER: I guess we'll see if anybody cares about boring girl
05:48:06 ER: yes not sure how I pulled that one off
05:48:19 ER: written 7 months ago btw lol
05:49:00 ER: we will also see if the one person who's into this premise immediately falls off when I fail to recapture that magic now
06:44:53 Devastator: ooh, emergency drachinifel video about a two-destroyer action.
06:45:06 Devastator: the destroyers in question are named "Swift" and "Broke"
06:45:11 Devastator: so the Swift and the Broke.
07:47:27 ER: how many saveloads is that now?
07:48:41 Devastator: None. That one doesn't count.
07:48:52 Devastator: I knew that first roll was important, and rolled the 10 naturally.
07:49:16 Devastator: was curious to see how it'd work out with the same rolls, assuming you fumbled the smoke bomb.
07:49:35 Devastator: so the alt universe is me riggint the fumble, not what actually happened.
07:50:25 ER: aww, so this one won't be "behold an unthinkable present"? :p
07:50:42 Devastator: Save loads total is.. 2, I think. One from Carina of the Starry Skies, one from the alchemy puzzle.
07:51:16 Devastator: Nha, if I include near failures, there's those two, and there's one where you screw up a bit while fighting Dorren and get swamped by the pile of summons.
07:52:01 Devastator: Maybe a fourth where Arngrim the Mountain Hammer has another day of reinforcements, so after running out of MP and supplies, a couple knights jump in the fight at the end.
07:52:08 Devastator: well, probably two days.
07:52:20 Devastator: you'd just dorp him and smoke bomb if it's only a few more people.
07:53:10 Devastator: That one was because Sessha coulda had Crack Shot Willis throw the bomb, ignoring the fumble chance.
