03:32:19 Devastator: posted in Revenant.
03:32:27 ER: k
03:32:29 Devastator: bird is too curious to do nothign.
03:32:48 Devastator: hopefully curiosity helps here, although I have no idea, really.
03:44:31 ER: burn it all
03:47:29 Devastator: to be honest, I'd rather get control over it, or feed it to the snakegod to get free of it.
03:47:36 Devastator: but if that fails, eh, maybe burning is the one true path.
03:47:49 Devastator: and it's too good to not try out at least once.
03:50:29 ER: not sure if the path of fire is compatable with snakegod's path
03:50:38 ER: or the rending light's path, for that matter
03:50:58 ER: sure is a lot of destruction, devouring...
03:51:06 Devastator: yeah, but snakegod eats things.
03:51:28 Devastator: and is probably a biiit stronger than whatever kid mage is, at least at this current time.
03:52:00 Devastator: so maybe snakegod will just chow down on the power. Getting something in return would be sweet, but being freed is a reward in itself.
03:57:14 Devastator: plus hey, braineating, so adding more eating power to it might even synergize.
03:59:25 ER: murder eat kill burn
03:59:35 Devastator: eh, first three.
03:59:40 Devastator: and add 'read everything' ;-p
04:00:04 ER: no, no read
04:00:06 ER: only burn
04:01:32 Devastator: aww.
04:01:35 Devastator: but bird want read.
04:01:48 ER: those aren't your orders
04:02:55 Devastator: Nope.
04:03:02 Devastator: later, hopefully.
04:03:23 Devastator: but if I end up giving it up, might as well learn what I've lost.

05:15:26 syv: Important question: is the big hat clown *good?*
05:23:22 Devastator: no
05:23:42 Devastator: i'ts not bad, but it's a stupid high-power mod game, so not really.
05:39:04 Devastator: also the clown mod maker doesn't seem to like circuses.
05:39:38 Devastator: clown descriptions are amusing and the heroes are hilarious, but some might not be enough time..
05:40:54 ER: CLOWN
05:40:58 Devastator: yeah.
05:43:18 ER: was the concept of clown themed succubi something I invented myself, or did I base it on something? I don't recall
05:43:28 ER: I find it amusing, though
05:45:53 Devastator: mmm.
05:45:59 Devastator: cly crow succubi.
05:46:02 Devastator: not birdgirl
05:46:03 Devastator: just bird.
05:46:06 Devastator: ;-p
05:46:13 ER: just bird!
05:47:02 ER: A demonic bird alights upon a nearby fencepost and attempts to seduce you. What do you do?
05:47:23 Devastator: agh.
05:47:32 Devastator: nah, I'll leave the seduction to snakelady.
05:48:27 ER: will snakelady seduce the bird, though?
05:48:33 Devastator: dunno.
05:48:44 Devastator: I will admit being on fire probably will reduce the odds of that.
05:51:11 Devastator: although there's an odd thing with Dominions mod nations.
05:51:15 Devastator: There are many super OP nations.
05:51:19 Devastator: many moderately OP nations.
05:51:24 Devastator: but many utter trash nations.
05:51:45 Devastator: outside of a few extremely common themes, such as disease healers, it's a wide range.
05:52:49 syv: Clown succubi *almost* makes sense.
05:53:11 syv: Both are things entirely built around attracting attention to themselves.
05:53:44 syv: A ninja clown or ninja succubus would clash with itself.
05:53:58 syv: ...Which I guess means a pirate clown would work?
05:54:04 syv: ...It totally would. Hrm.
05:54:09 ER: a ninja clown could work
05:54:18 ER: the stealth just helps them position
05:54:23 Devastator: the ninja clown would be unstoppable.
05:54:25 Devastator: but be extremely hard.
05:54:29 Devastator: pirate clown would be easy.
05:54:43 ER: didn't I send you the video with the clown airpirates?
05:54:48 syv: Now you've just got a clown that's very stealthy, basically turning off their clown-ness until the most opportune time.
05:54:49 ER: versus vampires?
05:54:50 syv: No?
05:55:19 ER: https://youtu.be/kGj_HkKhhSE
05:56:02 Devastator: oh god.
05:56:03 Devastator: https://lparchive.org/Dominions-5-(by-gonadic-io)/Update%2045/5-dnPD8UK.png
05:56:33 Devastator: yeah, mod nation bullshit. Those are cheap summonable units, which would be top-tier research summons AND have useful battlefield options at the same time.
05:59:32 Devastator: the player running them has a Str + 10 bless, which means the fist-mages hit for a perfectly accurate 31 damage a turn, for no fatigue cost, forever.
05:59:35 syv: Muscle wizard specialized in fist magic.
05:59:39 syv: Amazing.
05:59:56 Devastator: put a dozen of them behind a horde of freespawn chaff, and punch punch punch punch..
06:05:13 Devastator: "It's a custom low-fatigue soul slay, that only affects sacred units. That requires holy 3 but only air 1 and is available at zero research. What? What is going on? They also get custom versions of charm at H2A1 that doesn't have the sacred limitation, and then an AOE 15 charm at holy 5. This seems insanely good to me given that they have recruitable H3s."
06:05:21 Devastator: Ahh, mod bullshit runs into other mod bullshit.
06:06:31 Devastator: "It's a spell that is ok because normally only super-rare summons and your pretender can cast it. And this nation, which has them mass-recruitable."
07:09:25 Devastator: How's Zeldagame?
08:17:51 syv: We've been debating weird RAW stuff for awhile.
08:18:08 Devastator: mmm
08:19:00 syv: Irony matched us against enemies about twice as strong as they should be to be "fair", by rules. Plus they're outnumbering us 6 to 5, and we just had one of our weaker people get oneshot, with our second mage going down to critical health.
08:19:12 Devastator: whoopsies.
08:19:15 syv: And we dealt a grand total of 1 damage.
08:19:17 Devastator: sounds like Irony's playing hardball.
08:19:23 Devastator: or wants someone to BDH you.
08:19:25 Devastator: or you to run.
08:20:00 syv: Kiting is effective here, I have an amazing kite spell, and we're all about 50% faster than the monsters.
08:20:12 syv: We're mostly debating the precise nature of how to kite.
08:20:58 syv: Worst comes to worst, I can just have my char break her disguise (she's a secret demon) and fly, then just laugh as all the enemies are bombarded by ranged attacks from above.
08:21:07 syv: But in that scenario everyone else probably dies...
08:22:06 syv: We also do have a very tough knight who plinks every enemy hit, but he would definitely get swamped and killed before winning, in a straight fight.
08:22:17 syv: Plus crits could murder him/
08:23:37 syv: My first turn was wasted on a mostly useless delay action. But I learned something! Namely that swarms counter my best spell, rather than being hard countered by my best spell.
08:24:55 Devastator: ouch.
08:25:47 ER: irony probably should have let those little crabs just idiotically die to thorns
08:26:01 syv: Yeaaah.
08:26:21 syv: They're zombie crabs! Why are they *smart?*
08:26:54 ER: literally both zombie and crab
08:27:16 syv: OTOH, if it weren't for that, my action would be "everyone, retreat! I will cast thorns behind us, and we basically just win then."
08:27:26 Devastator: "They're zombies, why are they smart?"
08:27:35 Devastator is now known as Moldbin
08:27:39 Moldbin: "Caw"
08:27:42 Moldbin is now known as Devastator
08:27:48 syv: Good point, bird.
08:27:57 ER: revenants are definately smart
08:28:07 ER: these are husks, technically
08:28:10 syv: They do seem to be kinda revenant crabs.
08:28:15 ER: motivated purely by bloodlust
08:28:24 syv: They're so angry and hungry they refuse to stay dead.
08:29:27 syv: As we go and I reread rules, I'm learning a lot about how different strategies are optimal or not.
08:29:29 Devastator: That does seem comparable to revenants.
08:29:40 Devastator: can you seduce them?
08:29:49 syv: I very much want to try!
08:29:59 syv: But it would be a really bad idea right now.
08:30:58 syv: For instance, feats are amazing.
08:31:20 syv: Most techniques and spells are priced similarly, but are basically "once a fight" things.
08:32:02 syv: For instance, there's a 9 cost spell which costs... 20 MP. Which is well over my max, and half the theoretical max. So you get it once ever, *and* can't use many more spells after.
08:32:57 syv: Or I could take a feat to give me natural flier (which lets me stay out of range of almost any attacks, forever, in addition to lots of out of combat uses) for the same cost.
08:34:01 syv: There's a gem enchant which gives +X to both the main combat stats, which are normally exclusive, but my char is able to use both at the same time to power up attacks.
08:34:31 syv: Small damage increases are outsizely valuable, because armor mitigates most damage. Most of our people are unable to deal more than 1 HP of damage without a crit.
08:35:20 syv: For the same reason, penetrating attacks are awesome, which makes my functionally infinite-use thorns terrain completely ridiculous. Unless we fight swarms. Which we're doing.
08:36:38 syv: Move speed buffs are also *amazing*, but unfortunately they're understandably extremely expensive.
08:38:29 syv: For the most part, there's three. A huge cost feat, and two armor enchants. One that buffs your mount's speed (my char is big enough to be used as a mount), and one that buffs your own move speed, conflicting with the damage buff.
08:39:11 syv: That's actually good enough that it'd be worthwhile to take feats for fighting while someone is riding me, *just* so they can use enchants that buff my speed, without getting in the way of my damage.
08:40:05 syv: Though it has antisynergy with almost everyone else.
08:41:53 ER: there is synergy for fenil being ridden by isha
08:42:08 ER: said synergy is that we get to make dirty jokes
08:43:10 syv: Yes.
08:43:19 syv: Get a bow and it
08:43:24 syv: 'd work great.
08:43:32 ER: yes
08:43:35 syv: ...Or actually, just sing.
08:43:47 ER: need to save solun or else we're never getting good weapons :p
08:43:55 syv: Yes. :(
08:44:05 syv: Songs tend to be an AoE centered on you, so a mounted bard is actually probably pretty great?
08:44:40 Devastator: a pair can be enough teamwork.
08:44:56 ER: yeah, would be good with the shadow song
08:45:13 Devastator: also I'd get to make jokes about Twilight Princess.
08:45:17 ER: which fucks up every enemy in the area but makes you slow while you play
08:46:10 ER: I was thinking that TP Link could be represented as a demon in this system :p
08:46:41 ER: though who knows how the wolf form can fly
08:47:26 Devastator: it just has mobility 3.
08:48:12 syv: Hum, shadow song blocks all standard actions.
08:48:42 syv: So you'd be amazing support, but also be largely unable to do anything during combat except channel your AoE.
08:49:22 ER: though, my ability to actually get new songs is at the whims of our killer GM~
08:49:34 syv: "Every enemy has -2 to-hit except for the ridiculously fast flier optimized for kiting" is seriously great, though.
08:49:49 ER: can't get them as normal rewards, they don't even have a cost
08:49:52 syv: *to-hit anyone aside from the flier
08:50:12 syv: Yeah. But that one seems likely, with how this whole area is infested by fucking undead crabs.
08:50:21 ER: mhm
08:51:17 ER: though, that song doesn't hurt undead...
08:52:08 syv: Sadly.
08:52:47 syv: " All Magical Songs take 5 minutes to play,
08:52:47 syv: and can only be played when there are not
08:52:47 syv: significant distractions – thus, they cannot be
08:52:47 syv: played during battle, nor can they be played
08:52:47 syv: while moving."
08:52:48 ER: and is largely only useful with the chance to *prepare*, because the effects only come in after five minutes of playing
08:52:53 syv: Wait wait wait
08:52:58 syv: They can't be played while moving
08:53:06 syv: But the song specifies you're slowed while playing?
08:53:21 ER: shrug
08:53:26 ER: specific beats general
08:54:31 ER: but it certainly seems like a great song to play whilst riding into the enemy fortress on the back of a demon~
08:55:31 syv: *shoulders*
08:55:48 syv: Hilariously, Fenil's only nine foot when demon, not even double Isha's 5'2"
08:56:50 Devastator: what other mount buffs are there?
08:57:03 ER: what does fenil look like in demon form, anyways?
08:57:16 Devastator: it sounds like a rich vein of badly-balanced abilities.
08:59:31 syv: That's for you to find out, Egan~
09:00:28 syv: Nothing much, really.
09:00:35 ER: oh well, resumably everyone else will get owned by crabs and fenil will have to transform to save isha~
09:01:05 syv: There's a few feats for mounted combat, but they're mostly just "you no longer take penalties for mounted combat"
09:01:27 syv: Which are cheap, at leasy.
09:01:44 syv: There ARE some techniques that can be used, but they're meh and way too expensive.
09:02:01 syv: Oh wait, hell
09:02:05 syv: HAHAHAHAHAHA
09:02:24 syv: "Effect: You gain +2 to resist any attempts to
09:02:24 syv: dismount you (such as being Pushed or
09:02:24 syv: Knocked Prone). In addition, you may
09:02:24 syv: choose whether to use your Traits or your
09:02:24 syv: mount's Traits to resolve Combat Maneuvers
09:02:25 syv: while mounted."
09:02:28 syv: That is AMAZING
09:02:42 syv: Just straight up "you can use your mount's stats for combat actions"
09:04:05 syv: Aside from that there's a charge ability, which deals a trivially useless amount of damage (it should be penetrating, mistake on the author's part) and giving you a +1 to hit.
09:04:23 syv: And a defensive ability which uses 4 stamina from you, and 8 from your mount.
09:04:38 syv: Decent, if your mount is a horse with a pile of stamina and nothing to spend it on.
09:04:38 Devastator: oh man.
09:04:47 syv: Uselessly expensive otherwise.
09:05:11 Devastator: "You can use someone else's traits to resolve combat"?
09:05:16 Devastator: That sounds amazing.
09:05:28 Devastator: Also why characters generally aren't allowed to ride each other in most games. ;-p
09:05:38 ER: eh, it doesn't seem super great?
09:06:03 ER: manuevers are specific things, which if you do you're not doing damage
09:06:26 ER: and if your mount is also a player, they'll have about as good stats for those as you do
09:07:40 syv: Unless your mount is much better at them!
09:10:20 syv: Disarm is acc + combat, so not one that's good here, but is very strong.
09:10:38 syv: Sand attack is acc + guile, and definitely strong.
09:11:08 syv: But yeah. You'd have to build for it.
09:11:25 syv: It'd be a neat way to turn a noncombatant rider into a very useful force.
09:11:35 syv: Just a pity you can't do it for social maunevers.
09:11:52 syv: "I'm riding a giant demon lady! This makes me super good at flirting!"
09:12:58 syv: Grapple would be very exploitable.
09:13:16 syv: Have a flying mount sweep down, you grapple the enemy, flying mount flies up.
09:13:20 syv: You drop enemy.
09:13:48 syv: Deals a solid chunk of penetrating damage, and with Fenil you could do a double dose of thorns damage.
09:15:17 Devastator: can Fenil fly?
09:16:32 ER: can fly and glide, but isn't very good at it
09:20:03 syv: Have to buy a feat to get good at flying. Very expensive feat, too.
09:21:06 syv: How it works is that my char has two forms. A normal person form, which gives me a bonus to will saves, a bonus against will saves, and bonuses for social stuff.
09:21:46 syv: And then a demon form, which is big, mountable, buffs damage, gives me bonuses for and against fort saves, and bonuses for intimidating social stuff (which can be used in combat).
09:21:54 ER: including combat flirting in human form :p
09:21:58 syv: Also locks some of my expendable resources.
09:22:28 ER: I told oz about combat flirting in this system one time and he started complaining about one piece
09:22:29 syv: Yeah, there's a cheap feat called "wingman", which lets me apply social manuever bonuses to allies instead.
09:22:43 syv: And human-form demons can flirt twice per round...
09:22:51 syv: Flirting makes an enemy unable to attack you.
09:23:16 syv: So with wingman, I can make two allies immune to being attacked by a specific enemy. Or myself and one other ally.
09:23:52 syv: Honestly, it's decently balanced, since bosses should be hard to flirt-disable, but it's too funny not to go for.
09:24:31 syv: Oh, and demon also gives flight.
09:25:28 ER: and half will to combat based things and half combat to will based things
09:27:55 syv: That's what I meant by "buffs damage".
09:28:13 syv: It's not even all that great, except for mighty enchantments.
09:34:46 syv: I like this game. It's deliciously cracked.
09:35:38 ER: irony seems to allow sprinting while carrying items in general
09:35:52 ER: how shall we brutally exploit this and make him regret his mercy?
09:38:46 syv: That's hard to exploit, due to belt mechanics.
09:40:45 syv: Maybe, like, dropping bombs.
09:41:20 syv: I think dropping is a free action, so you can sprint with two bombs, drop both, and basically get two attacks while moving at max speed.
09:43:35 syv: Huh. Bombs deal 8 fixed damage, which is crap.
09:44:09 syv: Otherwise, this would work fine. Fight normally, but light two belt-bombs as your free actions.
09:44:42 syv: Next turn, sprint around and drop both in clusters of enemies, they'll immediately explode and deal nice AoE damage at the end of your turn.
09:45:13 syv: Should try to get Irony to let bombs deal penetrating damage first, so they're actually, like... usable.
09:48:17 syv: Oh wait it does ignore defense.
09:48:33 syv: They just say that later, rather than next to the damage number, like everything else. -.-
09:48:53 syv: So yeah, that's actually really nice. You get 16 guaranteed AoE damage.
09:50:21 ER: damn
09:51:06 ER: i was thinking that making a light damage weapon would be nice if we're gonna keep running into zombies, but light needs diamonds, which are probably hard to come by :9
09:58:36 ER: there's a cheap light spell, but it's melee range and isha doesn't have great Will, so I'd worry a bit about trying to use it
09:59:24 syv: I was thinking I'd take that for Fenil. It's a very nice status effect, and leads to Hylia's Light Arrow, which is perhaps the best triple will spell.
09:59:59 syv: Cursed is a *great* status effect.
10:00:17 ER: light arrows are traditionally final boss killers, so that checks out~
10:00:35 syv: Usually not used by demons, though~
10:01:05 syv: ...Bombs may indeed be just OP.
10:02:17 ER: when in doubt, blow the shit outta them?
10:02:19 syv: If Isha rides Fenil, and they both light tons and tons of bombs while dropping them from the sky, they could probably get ~60 damage AoEs every round.
10:02:39 syv: *Penetrating* AoEs, with +8 to hit.
10:03:48 syv: Bombs are also relatively cheap to make. Cloth + monster bits
10:11:16 syv: ...Oh, they're guaranteed to hit, too. I'm dumb.
10:11:21 syv: Yeah, bombs are awesome.
10:35:58 ER has quit [Ping timeout: 268 seconds]
11:01:38 Devastator: bombs are op.
11:01:41 Devastator: it's zelda.
13:33:53 syv has quit [Quit: FuckAT&T]
