00:54:28 Devastator_ is now known as Devastator
03:15:54 Devastator: back.
03:15:57 Devastator: and yay!
03:16:08 ER: yey
03:17:16 Devastator: I'll go read that.
03:18:26 Devastator: well that's interesting.
03:22:11 Devastator: robe spell!
03:22:20 Devastator: also a cold catgirl is a sad catgirl.
03:22:38 Devastator: I'll post something in a bit. Gotta eat dinner and do extinction first.
03:22:57 ER: I figured that creating clothing would be a reasonable power for this setting's wizards
04:04:15 Piecewise: Pants beam!
04:04:48 Piecewise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsL82F-SdTE
04:05:02 ER: hey, it's useful when you wake up in a pitch black dungeon, naked
04:06:03 Devastator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6cpa-TvKn8
04:06:49 Devastator: It's the sword that stands out.
04:06:54 Devastator: do you like have a beam that makes swords?
04:07:07 ER: yes
04:07:15 Devastator: I mean, Saeko could do that..
04:07:33 ER: would be useful for that dude whose magic uses and annihilates the sword he's holding
04:07:50 Devastator: yes
04:08:24 Devastator: although I think that was because the sword was kinda shit.
04:08:57 Devastator: anyway, summoning salt video done, on to Extinction.
04:09:02 ER: Well, I'd say it was a fine sword, just a mundane one
04:09:10 Devastator: mmm.
04:09:12 Devastator: Sure.
04:09:19 Devastator: although dragonsword should be fun.
04:10:29 Devastator: Also, lemme know if these battles are getting tedious in Extinction. You're most of the way through.
04:13:03 Devastator: uh oh.
04:14:29 Devastator: Willis got hit bad.
04:15:04 ER: he didn't seem too far into the danger zone, and we have heals
04:15:58 Devastator: He took 30 damage.
04:16:18 Devastator: Yeah, you do have heals, but uh oh.
04:16:35 Devastator: Fortunately, the caster is hitting Trence.
04:21:32 Devastator: Turn up.
04:25:14 Devastator: and sent.
04:28:47 Devastator: actually, going to change that.
04:32:07 Devastator: There.
04:33:10 ER: what did you change
04:34:11 Devastator: this one features her hugging merelyn longer.
04:34:18 Devastator: unless they're literally stuck together.
04:34:35 ER: Note that the door into the torture room was metal.
04:34:52 Devastator: Yeah, and you said dormatory.
04:34:55 Devastator: so maybe we moved back?
04:34:56 Devastator: dunno.
04:35:04 Devastator: we can figure that out in a minute.
04:35:09 ER: syv already got it, so I'll just tell you
04:35:39 ER: same as alida effigy shenanigans, you're inhabiting two bodies right now.
04:38:07 Devastator: mmm.
04:38:10 Devastator: other body is still sleeping?
04:44:33 ER: that's the extent of the free information!
04:44:50 Devastator: ok.
04:44:52 Devastator: well, we'll find out.
04:45:05 ER: I just told you what syv told me he figured out, because I expect you two to discuss this! :P
04:46:26 Devastator: well, he's not here.
04:46:32 Devastator: nor do I see his orders.
04:47:37 ER: I think he went to sleep!
04:53:06 Devastator: well, if that's the case and the rat thing wants to enter the dorm, the orders are to continue hugging and invite it in, with both bodies.
05:09:32 Devastator: note that isn't 'hug the rat-thing.' ;-p
05:09:46 ER: probably a bad idea
05:11:52 Devastator: Yeah, probably.
05:13:39 Devastator: mmm.
06:03:58 Devastator: Hmm.
06:04:07 Devastator: what was the name of the scientist guy from the original Jurassic Park?
06:04:55 ER: chaos theory dude!
06:06:13 Devastator: looking at roll to multitask.
06:06:20 Devastator: considering running John Hammond.
06:06:22 MidJag has joined #einsteinianroulette
06:06:27 MidJag: Jeff goldblum?
06:06:35 Devastator: No, not the mathmatics guy.
06:06:38 Devastator: the guy who built the park.
06:06:47 MidJag: Oh...I have no idea.
06:07:01 Devastator: character's name is John Hammond.
06:07:05 MidJag: I see.
06:07:29 ER: that cyberpunk grunts knockoff in RTD looked fun enough, but rather than join it I just reported the OP for seemingly being an alt account <.<
06:07:48 Devastator: heh.
06:08:04 ER: let toad sort em out
06:08:56 ER: no idea who they could be, or why they'd think making both their username and personal text say "I'm an alt" was a good idea
06:09:08 Devastator: Are alts banned?
06:09:35 ER: wether they're a noob just joking around, or someone who wants to play RTD without connecting it to their main, or someone who was banned
06:09:51 ER: pretty sure. worth pointing it out anyways, I think
06:09:52 Devastator: Mmm.
06:10:08 Devastator: well, bantime then.
06:11:08 MidJag: Have I told you mine and my brothers plan for the election dev?
06:11:17 Devastator: get drunk?
06:11:19 Devastator: and no.
06:11:26 Devastator: I thought you hadn't voted yet, due to 'bama.
06:11:27 MidJag: Get incrediblly drunk.
06:11:33 MidJag: and I have not.
06:11:38 ER: VOTE FUCKER
06:11:39 MidJag: This is the plan for after voting
06:11:40 Devastator: go do that, and then get drunk.
06:11:41 ER: <3
06:11:42 Devastator: ok.
06:11:55 Devastator: I voted! Just not in your election.
06:11:57 Devastator: ;-p
06:13:03 MidJag: Oh yeah, you know what's weird? Canada is the only country where medical degrees are considered perfectly equivalent to american medical degrees.
06:14:36 Devastator: mmm
06:15:28 MidJag: Apperently there's a lot of interelation between the two countries medical education systems. I'm not entierlly sure why, but fun little factoid.
06:17:49 Devastator: hmm.
06:41:41 Devastator: what is a factoid anyway?
06:41:56 ER: it's like a fact, but boring and bad
06:48:00 MidJag: Your not wrong ER
06:52:23 Devastator: usually.
07:00:43 ER has quit [Quit: HydraIRC -> http://www.hydrairc.com <- Po-ta-to, boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew.]

10:15:53 Devastator: aww.
10:15:55 Devastator: sorry, RC.
10:15:57 Devastator: missed you.

10:17:15 Devastator: heya.
10:17:17 Devastator: sorry RC.
10:17:22 Radio_Controlled: Great connection there, wifi, sheesh.
10:17:23 Devastator: Was on another tab.
10:17:25 Radio_Controlled: Hello!
10:17:29 Radio_Controlled: No worries.
10:17:33 Devastator: Oh, phew, thought you went.
10:17:34 Devastator: what's up?
10:17:41 Radio_Controlled: How are things?
10:17:46 Devastator: Pretty good.
10:17:50 Devastator: work's been relatively quiet.
10:18:06 Radio_Controlled: Things are ok on my end, got a free day today but doing some light administration right now.
10:18:18 Devastator: ..although, it's kinda a Covid thing, as I'm supposed to help install another large machine, but it's being made in the upper midwest, so..
10:18:25 Radio_Controlled: Covid-related downturn?
10:18:30 Devastator: everyone's sick with Covid, so it'll arrive here whenever.
10:18:40 Radio_Controlled: Ninja! :o
10:18:42 Devastator: Nah, not really.
10:18:51 Devastator: not a downturn, we've got enough business to need it, it just isn't there.
10:19:15 Devastator: we'll get it in a month. Or two. Or three.
10:19:18 Devastator: who knows really.
10:20:23 Radio_Controlled: How are the infection rates in your area? Not too bad I guess since it's the boonies?
10:20:35 Devastator: Pretty good.
10:20:40 Radio_Controlled: Over here it's, ah, pretty bad.
10:20:50 Devastator: I'm in british columbia, which has done relatively well.
10:20:55 Devastator: Yeah, heard.
10:21:16 Radio_Controlled: And of course idiots who insist on holding parties to, I dunno, celebrate the measures getting more strict? What?
10:21:46 Devastator: Good job, morons.
10:22:06 Devastator: You don't defeat a virus with morale.
10:22:09 Devastator: it doesn't get bored.
10:23:22 Radio_Controlled: "Aww man, these humans are still partying despite a global pandemic. Welp, guess they won, back to harassing bats and pangolins."
10:24:45 Devastator: Yeah.
10:24:50 Devastator: sometimes..
10:24:51 Devastator: sigh.
10:24:53 Radio_Controlled: Reminds me of a point made in the world war Z. How the US military used traditional shock-and-awe style tactics against the Z's, which of course didn't actually do anything.
10:25:11 Devastator: I haven't read that..
10:25:19 Devastator: but I'd expect they'd handle zombies just fine, really.
10:25:38 Devastator: there's someone in the army who isn't that dumb and they'd go with the plan of 'just blow them up' or 'set them on fire'
10:26:04 Devastator: Or just fly in some helicopters and mow them down to thin them out.
10:26:55 Radio_Controlled: It's an ok book, kinda infuriating to read at some points though.
10:27:23 Devastator: mmm.
10:27:24 Radio_Controlled: Honestly, a combine harvester could do it.
10:27:26 Devastator: dumbness?
10:27:34 Devastator: nah, I wouldn't count on one of those. ;-p
10:27:47 Devastator: it'd get clogged.
10:28:15 Radio_Controlled: Yeah, some cool scenes but on the whole too many people and institutions need to get the idiot ball for the plot to work.
10:28:35 Radio_Controlled: Would it though? I mean, tractors are made to plow through mud and crap, no?
10:29:11 Radio_Controlled: So just take of the metal around the blades and just let 'er rip I'd think.
10:29:32 Devastator: mmm, not sure.
10:29:44 Devastator: The tractor could move, but I don't think they'd be able to sort meat like wheat.
10:29:52 Devastator: so it'd stop spinning.
10:29:55 Radio_Controlled: Hell, even if the blades don't spin, just running them over should thin them out I'd think.
10:30:25 Radio_Controlled: There might be other farming machines that are better for it though, yeah.
10:31:56 Devastator: yay, idiot ball.
10:32:57 Radio_Controlled: Are there machines made for something like clearing thick underbrush in a forest or something? Hmm.
10:33:25 Devastator: mmm..
10:33:34 Devastator: Not realllly.
10:33:40 Devastator: logging machinery is a bit different.
10:33:46 Radio_Controlled: In the end the genius method for fighting the Z's in standing in an open field in a square formation and just shooting the Z's for days on end basically.
10:34:38 Radio_Controlled: The big setpiece battle where the US military funneled them into a chokepoint on a big highway and used tons of explosives on them, however, didn't.
10:35:14 Devastator: There's stuff like this.
10:35:16 Devastator: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feller_buncher
10:36:41 Devastator: I'm still not sure why blowing them up wouldn't work.
10:36:41 Radio_Controlled: Ooh, what could be cool is to have an old-timey Sherman Crocodile with a pusher blade in the front!
10:37:05 Radio_Controlled: Shove shove shove, back down, FLAMMENWERFER, repeat.
10:37:24 Devastator: ...wasn't the Crocodile flame tank based off a Churchill, not a Sherman?
10:37:36 Radio_Controlled: The author tried to give some sort of justification about the type of damage not killing them but I found it rather weak.
10:37:47 Radio_Controlled: Maybe I'm misremembering, lemme check.
10:38:04 Devastator: but yeah, a chokepoint, some explosives, and a line of machine guns should get stuff done.
10:38:21 Devastator: or a line of AFVs with heavy MGs so they can retreat if things go bad.
10:38:37 Radio_Controlled: Both existed apparently: https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/US/sherman-crocodile
10:39:52 Radio_Controlled: Note that the author did that thing where he wanted to portray the Z's as stemming from a 'virus' to give it an air of believability but in practice they're still pretty much magical.
10:40:33 Radio_Controlled: So he claimed that MGs didn't do much cause they didn't cause headshots all the time because people have differing heights.
10:40:58 Devastator: Oy.
10:41:20 Devastator: Yeah, that's pretty dumb.
10:42:58 Radio_Controlled: So yeah, those parts where dumb. But the part where a Japanese otaku/hikkikomori is so sheltered he only learns about the Z apocalypse from the internet while outside Tokyo burns was kinda fun.
10:43:09 Devastator: you solve that problem by shooting more.
10:43:12 Devastator: like a lot more.
10:43:37 Radio_Controlled: So it's a mixed bag. The movie has basically nothing in common with the book though, in case you ever saw that one.
10:44:00 Devastator: heh
10:44:03 Devastator: which is better?
10:44:13 Devastator: or are either worth it?
10:45:01 Radio_Controlled: Honestly? I think book fans would crucify me for it, and the movie wasn't brilliant (and the 'solution'/cure was incredibly dumb), but the movie did have some pretty cool scenes.
10:45:24 Radio_Controlled: So neither is a must see/read, but not so terrible you'd want to avoid it like the plague.
10:47:37 Radio_Controlled: Saw blade runner yesterday, but the 'final cut' this time instead of the shorter version I saw before.
10:47:53 Devastator: heh.
10:47:58 Devastator: probably won't see it, then.
10:48:18 Radio_Controlled: I kinda think the shorter version was better though, some of the scenes they cut out or shortened didn't add that much.
10:48:23 Radio_Controlled: Keep it snappy!
10:49:22 Devastator: Hah.
10:49:42 Radio_Controlled: Never ever watch the version with the narration added though.
10:49:51 Devastator: Oh?
10:50:01 Radio_Controlled: The studios demanded it because they thought the audience would be too stupid to get it otherwise.
10:51:04 Devastator: hah
10:51:22 Radio_Controlled: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versions_of_Blade_Runner#US_theatrical_release_(1982)
10:51:49 Radio_Controlled: So they had Ford narrate parts of it but neither he nor Ridley Scott liked it.
10:52:49 Radio_Controlled: They even had them include a 'happy ending' for the US release.
10:53:53 Radio_Controlled: Welp, almost lunchtime here, gotta run.
10:54:20 Radio_Controlled: See ya, have a good one.
10:54:23 Devastator: ok
10:54:46 Radio_Controlled: Was fun hanging out again though!

16:39:52 syv: I read... like a third of WWZ.
16:40:26 syv: Some parts were extremely irritating, like the military being useless. Until they lost, and regrouped with melee weapons.
16:41:46 syv: Though they did at least use justifications like soldiers using full NBC gears hindering them, and IIRC political grandstanding. The classic "General Celebrity has a bunch of people die in a stupid way because he wants to look awesome". Which is still dumb, but slightly less than "military can't hurt zambos hurrr"
16:42:13 syv: They still wound up being useless for no good reason.
17:22:06 Devastator: hey
17:22:18 Devastator: nbc tanks, then..
17:50:50 syv: Hello~
17:50:59 syv: I watched that speedrun vid
17:52:01 Devastator: oh?
17:57:13 Devastator: anything, syv?
18:01:52 syv: Makes me think of spiderman racing.
18:02:23 syv: If you're asking if I have anything to talk about, nah, just here 'cause I might as well/
18:02:54 Devastator: heh.
18:03:00 Devastator: I did like the trap.
18:03:03 Devastator: that's a hell of a trap.
18:03:21 Devastator: alsok, imagine if one of the hunters broke it.
18:03:36 Devastator: it'd be an instant win.
18:05:51 syv: Hah, I didn't mean the Minecraft one. That one would've been better. >.>

18:48:40 ER: are you talking behind my back
