03:42:37 syv: This newscaster keeps pronouncing "rainfall" with a p.
03:42:47 syv: "Raipfall"
04:04:36 Devastator: hey syv.
04:04:45 syv: hey dev.

04:05:02 Devastator: \
04:05:54 Devastator: spilled some soda on my keyboard.
04:07:05 syv: Strange. That sounds seem like the voice of energized syrup.
04:07:23 syv: ...
04:07:33 syv: "That doesn't seem like"
04:07:55 Devastator: it's the sound of me wiping it down to clean up, because with you here meant throwing caution to the wind and just wiping it.
04:10:51 Devastator: how's the hurricane?
04:11:22 syv: Hurricane?
04:11:31 syv: Damn, is there another one?
04:12:10 Devastator: I thought there were two.
04:12:18 Devastator: you'd know better than I would.
04:13:46 syv: Checked the NHC site, there's one. Nana, hitting Central America instead. Also Omar, tropical depression faaar to the northeast. But Omar is actually heading east, deeper into the ocean.
04:14:26 syv: We had a little hurricane awhile ago, but it didn't do much of anything. Just rainy.
04:15:43 Devastator: It's been raining up here for some of each day for over a week now.
04:16:17 syv: I think we just recently began having some not-rainy days.
04:16:26 syv: Not 100% sure because I'm usually asleep.
04:16:35 Devastator: Summer is the wet season down there, right?
04:16:42 syv: Almost every day for a few weeks there had an evening thunderstorm, all in a row.
04:16:43 syv: Yeah.
04:39:10 Devastator: well, more extinction.
04:40:07 Devastator: I'm liking how it's going.
04:45:03 er has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
04:47:13 Devastator: I hope I'm not overloading players with too many words there.
04:53:02 syv: I find it amusing that ER suggested Hilde as a name.
04:53:11 syv: Even moreso considering who it got applied to.
04:55:32 Devastator: What's the reference?
04:56:09 Devastator: That the first witch Sophie ran into?
04:56:15 syv: Dunno if he meant it because the name's longer, but Hildegaard (I think; I named her once then haven't brought it up again) is a very important historic magical girl in PS.
04:56:30 syv: Who has been mentioned obliquely *once* in a secret PM a year ago.
04:56:37 syv: Years ago?
04:58:43 Devastator: Well, sounds about right then.
04:59:27 syv: Heh. Let the poisonkid drink anything he likes, might as well.
05:00:58 Devastator: pretty much.
05:01:09 Devastator: only downside if it is poisoned she doesn't find out.
05:01:57 syv: I'd assume it's not, they have strong incentives not to kill us.
05:02:05 syv: And seem a bit overconfident and incompetent.
05:02:14 Devastator: he's not quite immune, but in order to get him poisoned they'd need to serve him something that's dangerous to themselves.
05:02:30 Devastator: Good, that's more or less what I wanted to get across.
05:02:41 Devastator: didn't want it to seem impossible if you'd tried to break out Uncle.
05:02:50 Devastator: It wasn't, you'd just have to think about it.
05:06:33 syv: Posted.
05:07:25 syv: Honestly, all three options sound fairly equal. I actually lean a little more towards triangulation, but I don't feel like doing this faster is of much value, and not accidentally falling off a cliff is probably good.
05:10:23 Devastator: It's mostly the kind of encounters you can run into, and a little bit of variability.
05:10:42 Devastator: also wanted a little more time here before the temple.
05:14:38 Devastator: Felt like I ran a little bit earlier.
05:26:17 Devastator: oh god, someone's running The Ultimate Showdown, the RTD.
05:26:17 Devastator: I have to play this.
05:45:33 syv: Naturegirl's latest action in Wizard School is to head into town and "assist with anything that needs assisting with"
05:46:03 syv: Luckily it isn't her *magical* action, so the fact that she's a wild mage hopefully won't come into play, but still. Quite worrying.
05:49:44 Devastator: That's naturegirl.
06:00:37 Devastator: "Do stuff" the player.
06:01:24 Devastator: Also have to play some kinda limbo with King Zultan's kangaroo.
06:01:33 Devastator: well, sort of quantum superposition.
06:02:01 Devastator: do one version where I follow his orders, and do one version where I follow the other interpretation of his orders, until I find out what he really wants next turn.
06:03:01 syv: Hum.
06:03:21 syv: I'd just say "Okay I don't understand, X or Y? I'll give you double progess next turn."
06:04:35 Devastator: oh for you guys, absolutely.
06:04:50 Devastator: but with mad scientists they can make a lot of progress in one turn, and he might give it to someone.
06:05:29 syv: I meant like a double update, not *literally* giving him 200% progress speed for that turn.
06:07:44 Devastator: oh.
06:07:52 Devastator: well, with you guys I'd do double progress.
06:10:40 Devastator: Also, there's the whole risk of escape thing.
06:12:45 Devastator: so I kinda have to do something for each turn of research.
06:13:01 syv: Ah.
06:13:05 syv: Oh well.
06:15:59 Devastator: It's fine, like another 3-ish minutes.
06:16:05 Devastator: and someone else I don't have to explain weapon slots to.
06:16:41 Devastator: I mean.. yeah, it'd be nice to have more open rules for some things, but some of these concepts are complicated. And I'm not good at explaining them.
06:17:09 Devastator: Better to just have me interpret some wild ramblings.
06:17:19 Devastator: more mad sciency.
06:17:39 syv: True
06:20:37 Devastator: I did have a good talk about slots for the [small] infantry exoskeleton thing.
06:21:46 Devastator: also got frightfully nervous I'd misinterpreted the goals for the jaeger project six months ago.
06:21:51 Devastator: but we're okay with that.
06:35:05 syv: This guy's videos are just happy.
06:35:05 syv: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-B4dB7asn2w
06:36:46 Devastator: hah
06:47:25 Devastator: "That's a 500 dollar mike, you're a youtuber."
06:47:29 Devastator: bing.
06:50:21 syv: Yeah.
06:50:51 syv: Going on how many people recognize him in the videos, versus how many subscribers he has, I think he was doing a LOT of takes for only a few good results.
06:51:03 syv: Still, they're entertaining and happy.
06:53:36 Devastator: worth doing.
07:46:25 Devastator: Naturegirl is trying to jump into the forum game about Aurora.
07:56:57 Devastator: that.. seems unwise.
07:57:09 Devastator: otoh, you need low wisdom to get into that game in the first place.
07:58:00 syv: I enjoy reading about Aurora's mechanics faaar more than playing it.
07:58:36 Devastator: I've played it more than a few times, but in general I can only play it while I'm keeping all the balls in the air.
07:58:52 Devastator: so I can play it for one stretch where it's the only game I'm playing until it gets too complex to keep in my head.
08:00:54 Devastator: and then, whoops, all the progress to nothing. I consider it an accomplishment if I can get to the point where I win a fight.
08:05:24 Devastator: because as you know, there's a huge amount of stuff that's decided years in game that determines if you win or lose.
08:18:12 syv: Yeah.
08:18:22 syv: Or you can just turn off the NPC aliens and turtle forever.
08:18:59 Devastator: aye.
08:19:07 Devastator: tbh, there's so many different ways to play aurora.
08:24:43 syv: I wanted to see if it was possible to do a pirate playthrough. Max tech, but you're only allowed to build boarding ships. Everything else has to be stolen.
08:25:00 Devastator: That sounds possible, but challenging.
08:25:22 Devastator: Yeah, I think you can do it.

09:30:14 er: Dream was going spooky, so I looked up some nice soothing dubstep in the dream to calm mysf down
09:30:38 er: Every search result for dubstep was minecraft
09:44:58 syv: I've had a lot of minecraft in my recommended lately.
09:45:00 syv: It annoys me.
09:45:26 syv: I watched a few "speedrunner being hunted" videos, and now Youtube thinks I'm twelve.
09:45:57 Devastator: sorry syv.
09:46:05 Devastator: I saw one of those and it was impressive so I linked it.
09:46:26 syv: Oh, the videos were great.
09:46:56 syv: The one you linked was second best, he did a later one where they set a trap for him in the end, and that one was even better.
09:48:19 Devastator: Yes, I saw that one too.
09:48:37 Devastator: apparently he took his hands off his controls for a drink.
09:48:42 Devastator: AAAAAHHH!
09:49:06 Devastator: there were two where he got trapped in the end. One where he got caught, and one where he got through.
09:49:13 Devastator: TNT through the portal.
09:49:28 syv: Yeah, I had no idea that could happen.
09:50:16 Devastator: Same here.
09:50:21 Devastator: then again, I've never finished minecraft.
09:53:36 Devastator: Used to play it early on, hung out in beta version .11 for various stupid reasons, never picked it back up later.
09:53:41 Devastator: looks too complicated these days.
09:54:07 syv: Of course you'd say that.
09:56:28 Devastator: what? Just so many features I don't want to deal with..
09:57:00 Devastator: I also liked the you are alone feeling of it.
09:57:06 Devastator: too much built stuff to have that anymore.
09:59:41 Devastator: I think I played it since when it was on a website as creative mode.
10:00:22 Devastator: That was too simple.
10:00:28 Devastator: I'm not sure where the sweet spot was, IMO.
10:06:00 syv: I played back in late 2011 and through to 2012 I think. Maybe a little into 2013.

23:48:57 ER: gun gun gun
23:49:14 ER: neat mixture of physical and insubstantial
23:49:46 ER: you can't fly, you can't move through matter or though small holes, but you can infinitely create or destroy matter
23:50:10 ER: meanwhile, fluids are able to propogate infinitely in every direction except upwards
23:50:45 ER: but are destroyed by matter being placed inside of it and by sponges
23:51:19 Devastator: I heard there is no more infinite fluids.
23:51:32 ER: not for a long time
23:51:36 ER: sad!
23:53:51 Devastator: Yes. I'm not sure how I'll ever make smooth lakes again.
