03:00:14 Devastator: sorry, was fixing comp.
03:00:19 Devastator: and then had to do something.
03:01:35 Devastator: Is prediction supposed to be a primary?
03:49:25 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
03:49:53 syv: YES, prediction is supposed to be a primary.
03:50:08 syv: It'd be insanely OP if it was a secondary.
03:50:47 Devastator: mmm.
03:53:03 syv: Haven't we had that exact confusion multiple times before?
03:53:15 syv: Prediction is a primary, and a pretty good one.
03:54:42 Devastator: It seems so, but I'm not sure if I'd ever use it, even if I had it at level 3.
03:57:06 syv: You also play a Brave, so you already have primary overload.
03:57:32 Devastator: fair point, yeah.
03:57:32 syv: Look at the innocent powerset--the only two other primaries are Refuge and Time Stop, which are high cost and very significant.
03:57:40 Devastator: yeah, makes sense.
03:57:50 Devastator: and it can substitute for CC3, if defensively.
03:57:58 syv: So it's a choice between prediction and CC/MB most of the time.
03:58:24 syv: It's much more efficient than the latter, while being much more versatile than the former.
03:59:02 syv: I wouldn't call it better than CC IV, but I could absolutely see building for it while ignoring CC, and with careful setup it can do quite a lot more.
04:00:05 Devastator: oh well.
04:00:11 Devastator: changed my mind to activate painless.
04:00:13 syv: ...It's also pretty much just better than CC, defensively. CC allows you to block more effectively, but still requires a roll. Pred usually doesn't.
04:00:16 syv: I saw, yeah.
04:00:18 Devastator: gonna jump in. Hopefully tooru can survive a round.
04:00:39 syv: Was gonna comment before that you normally need to describe what you want the song to accomplish.
04:00:43 Devastator: Probably can't hurt the witch, but keeping her busy for a few turns might be possible.
04:01:06 syv: Maaan, if Alida can't hurt this witch, y'all are fuuuucked.
04:01:29 Devastator: big mbs might do more damage.
04:01:45 Devastator: Should have said 'killed'
04:01:53 Devastator: 'kill'
04:01:54 syv: Fair 'nuff.
04:02:13 Devastator: hell, if berzerk/painless is a thing, kill might not be possible.
04:02:46 Devastator: well, will try to do damage, maybe the others can cut off her magic and do some MBs. And try not to get pummeled.
04:03:00 syv: To steal a KCom term from you, if everything short of big MBs tinks here, you're not scoring a kill.
04:03:01 Devastator: well, pummled beyond the ability of painless to compensate.
04:03:14 Devastator: mmm, ok.
04:03:42 syv: Alida can hurt the witch, and absolutely would be able to kill her 1v1, it would just be very difficult.
04:04:02 Devastator: tink is a fire emblem term anyway.
04:04:30 syv: Unless Alida had CC IV and Pred III active at the same time, in which case she could probably handle this witch solo without much real difficulty.
04:05:15 syv: Yeah, throw in effigies, she could totally do that.
04:05:48 Devastator: Pred III?
04:05:52 Devastator: ahh, yeah, prediction.
04:05:54 Devastator: nah, can't do it.
04:06:02 Devastator: one primary per character, I think you said.
04:06:05 syv: Yep.
04:06:13 syv: That's why pred's a primary~
04:06:19 Devastator: and I don't know if someone with prediction could mind control a body.
04:06:38 syv: Could do some worrying stuff with an Innocent/Creative, or an Innocent/Pure.
04:09:37 Devastator: mmm?
04:10:18 Devastator: you know, someone nega-prattling the witch while it duels the werewolf might be really effective.
04:10:20 Devastator: if that works.
04:10:41 syv: Creatives can give themselves very powerful fleshorror bodies, pures can mind control and puppet powerful individuals.
04:11:03 Devastator: yeah, but both of those work fine seperately. What would together give you?
04:11:40 syv: So both have a pretty good route to giving themselves a lot of power while a primary isn't active, which means they can use prediction along with it.
04:12:02 Devastator: ahh, yeah.
04:13:14 syv: Loves, shades are independant, so can't benefit really. Braves, effigies are still just normals and their other passives don't help that much. Joys... maybe bombs, but that's not much better than C4. Mercies could do some stuff with Rel Pli, but that's not OP.
04:14:07 syv: Creatives OP.
04:14:26 Devastator: What would the soul cost be to semblance 2 alida's wolf form?
04:14:32 Devastator: ie, into another one.
04:15:50 syv: I don't have a semblance scale set up. Probably major or massive, would have to work on it to be sure.
04:18:24 syv: Might be major. That allows +2 significant upgrades over wolf, which seems reasonable, since a giant wolf is an entirely possible living physical creature.
04:19:01 syv: Not sure though, since it is a permanent buff and wolf is a fairly bad choice for something so significant.
04:20:34 syv: Yeaaaah, massive, because finale's gotta have some limits on a permanent cast like that.
04:21:21 syv: Variable cost stuff gets pretty crazy when you pump a finale into it, but semblance has no maintenance.
04:23:06 Devastator: yeah, that seems to be about right.
04:23:29 Devastator: could probably do better than that with a massive, but it's too much for major.
04:23:48 syv: It does mean you can't just turn into a literal tank with one finale cast of semblance. :(
04:26:00 Devastator: why not? You'd be stuck as one.
04:26:08 Devastator: and a tank is vulernable to a lot of stuff.
04:26:28 Devastator: not very, but angel-witch could probably blow one up.
04:26:36 Devastator: and this one could probably score damage.
04:28:02 syv: Oh, even this one's familiars could probably score a tank kill with a bit of luck.
04:28:18 syv: The witch herself would be done in twenty seconds, easy.
04:29:34 syv: It'd be impossible because it's multiple substantial upgrades over "car-sized organic mundane animal"
04:29:39 Devastator: I'm assuming that the semblance MG would at least have say, mobility 1.
04:29:53 Devastator: and be able to run away from a familiar easily enough.
04:30:04 syv: Yes. A tank which is also a magical girl would do much better.
04:30:23 Devastator: an olympic-class tank would be quick enough to do that. And be able to not worry about normal obstacles.
04:30:45 syv: "A tank with double jump"
04:30:55 syv: I'm sure I've seen that.
04:31:02 Devastator: I don't know if a mob-3 tank could jump off flat ground.
04:31:05 Devastator: Metal Slug?
04:31:26 syv: Maybe. Did Metal Slug have jumpy tanks?
04:31:44 syv: I've only played a couple and don't remember them very well.
04:33:07 Devastator: Yes, the tanks in metal slug could jump.
04:33:12 Devastator: but they also aren't real things.
04:33:20 Devastator: unless someone wished "I wish tanks could jump" or something.
04:34:19 syv: I googled "vertical wolf", and the first two image results are the left and right halves of a wolf picture, properly aligned.
04:34:40 syv: I am impressed. Probably someone toying with a botnet or something, but still.
04:34:45 Devastator: I think the only tank wish I thought of was "I wish intermural tank combat was a real sport." ;-p
04:35:14 syv: Yeah, you've joked about that one for coming on three years now.
04:35:51 Devastator: sorry.
04:36:26 syv: Sorry?
04:36:44 syv: I was just commenting on it being a long runner, it's still amusing.
04:37:05 syv: I think you had a second tank wish, for the briefcase tank in the webcomic with the long name.
04:37:41 syv: Somebody's walkthrough for the universe's finale or something like that.
04:37:49 Devastator: oh yes, forgot that.
04:37:59 Devastator: yeah, it was from ABG.
04:38:26 Devastator: sorry for lack of creativity.
04:38:51 Devastator: It'd probably be useful here..
04:38:53 syv: Stop apologizing for nonexistent shortcomings.
04:39:02 Devastator: there aren't too many situations where it wouldn't be useful.
04:39:13 Devastator: and I'm Canadian, it's practically genetic.
04:39:19 syv: You're playing a werewolf magical girl, you have displayed enough creativity.
04:39:32 syv: Speaking of:
04:39:35 syv: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3010/3013164084_d4e2f232ce_z.jpg
04:39:39 syv: Vertical woof
04:39:46 Devastator: heh.
04:40:26 syv: https://40.media.tumblr.com/88027f89236235bb822364e17a192a70/tumblr_inline_nnxr7tTlKs1rpk3gm_400.png
04:42:25 syv: "Hello, artfriend, could you draw a standing wolf wearing a magical girl outfit?"
04:42:34 syv: "...Are you a furry?"
04:42:41 syv: "No, but my friend might be."
04:42:55 Devastator: Hah.
04:43:57 Devastator: Ahh, next couple games I need to get back to playing normal humans.
04:44:18 syv: Yes, classic mundane dev.
04:44:46 syv: Though Alida *is* pretty mundane, aside from cloning herself and having an alt form.
04:44:49 Devastator: Normal humans are good!
04:44:55 syv: Her main powerset is really just hitting people with a stick.
04:44:57 Devastator: big asides there.
04:45:57 syv: Compared to what Magical Girls *can* be...
04:46:07 Devastator: Yeah, so much.
04:46:12 Devastator: but someone's got to do the stick hitting.
04:47:58 Devastator: hell, even if she wasn't a werewolf I'd be working on ways to do it better or more creatively. Baseball ammo, surprise attacks, supports..
04:48:36 Devastator: effigy slingshots..
04:49:04 syv: Can still do that one.
04:49:14 syv: Alida could totally throw wolves at monsters.
04:49:29 syv: Wolves with clubs gripped in their teeth.
04:50:01 Devastator: Nah, no more slingshot ribbons.
04:50:04 Devastator: Mina's gone.
04:50:16 syv: *Asha
04:50:26 Devastator: Right.
04:50:29 Devastator: Asha's gone too.
04:50:38 Devastator: have to come up with something else.
04:50:47 Devastator: riding herself is something else, so..
04:51:07 Devastator: I'll get something else ready for next time, maybe.
04:53:54 Devastator: launching is launching, but I don't see much mechanical advantage from just throwing over having the wolf jump itself. I might have it wrong, I'm not an acrobat, but I'd like something that's clearly more than that.
04:54:12 Devastator: mmm, maybe like a hammer throw.
04:56:11 Devastator: a handle, steel cable and something for the other wolf to hang on to, mayb.e
04:56:15 syv: It's better because you'd be *throwing wolves at people*
04:56:39 Devastator: oh come on, wouldn't a wolf spinning around hammer-throwing another alida be even better? ;-p
04:56:42 syv: I mean yes, mechanically it's inferior to those wolves just jumping on those people.
04:56:49 syv: But *throwing wolves!*
04:57:00 Devastator: Heh.
04:57:02 Devastator: Fine, then.
04:57:18 syv: Same way throwing axes is badass, even if it's pretty solidly inferior to just hitting things with the axe in your hand.
04:59:19 Devastator: it might not be mechanically inferior if the wolf jumps AND she throws. ;-p
05:01:03 syv: True.
05:01:13 syv: ...And you can do that, since you can doublejump.
05:01:17 syv: Huh.
05:01:30 syv: I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to doublepounce.
05:01:47 syv: Pounce once, then add a bunch of extra speed by pouncing again midair.
05:02:09 Devastator: combine with hammer throws and jump repeatedly to build up speed.
05:02:13 Devastator: supersonic wolf.
05:03:21 syv: Supersonic woof
05:03:28 Devastator: well, until the cord breaks or the anchored woof can't remain in place.
05:04:36 syv: Hum
05:04:44 syv: You should've taken resounding echoes from Lucy
05:04:53 Devastator: Yes, it would have been nice.
05:04:55 syv: Throw monsters around by barking at them.
05:05:04 Devastator: That would have been fun, yes.
05:05:05 syv: The dream of *every* canine.
05:05:16 Devastator: Yeah.
05:05:44 Devastator: For a woof, woof powers would be the dream, yes.
05:06:24 syv: Instead you doubled down on bravery and took another maintained buff.
05:06:38 Devastator: yeah.
05:06:44 Devastator: although the shared aspect of it appealed to me.
05:06:46 syv: Ah well, hope that works out better in the future. It does give you an actual combat buff option.
05:07:00 Devastator: maybe a mistake, but it's also more variety, because it can do things other than fight.
05:07:07 Devastator: hmm.
05:07:25 Devastator: could alida have used resounding echos to shout her family down? I mean, probably, but..
05:07:47 syv: In a literal sense, yeah.
05:08:20 syv: But maybe hitting your family members to knock them to the floor is not an ideal method of de-escalation.
05:08:32 syv: DwR lullaby works way better.
05:08:49 Devastator: yeah.
05:08:52 Devastator: hence the but..
05:09:02 Devastator: she loves them too much to do that.
05:09:20 Devastator: maybe someone else would be ok with that.
05:09:22 syv: Hum.
05:09:38 syv: Yeah, DwR gives you an option for screwing with the masquerade effect.
05:10:02 syv: Pity it's minor only, but that's still plenty for messing with humans.
05:10:32 Devastator: sadly, can't use it when woof.
05:10:58 Devastator: it'd be lovely for freaking out knocker when he's stuck in a van with the giant wolf.
05:11:17 Devastator: too expensive, but sometimes it's just for fun.
05:15:37 Devastator: dunno, not too many ideas come to mind.
08:06:57 er: BORK BORK
08:07:22 Devastator: bork bork.
08:07:25 Devastator: rolling for Sh right now.
08:08:07 er: <3
08:08:27 syv: BIG BORK
08:08:42 Devastator: have to figure out who you're attacking.
08:12:33 er: Toady: "I'm all for happy dogs with jobs."
08:14:33 Devastator: do dogs have jobs now in DF?
08:16:22 syv: Haven't they had jobs for a long time?
08:16:35 syv: Hunting dogs have special behavior just for them.
08:16:49 syv: I forget if war dogs do, I think they just get stat buffs.
08:16:49 Devastator: Don't know, I don't usually do pets.
08:17:02 er: Referring to herding dogs
08:17:06 Devastator: ahh.
08:17:16 syv: I know hunting dogs at some point did stealth with the hunter, and had special AI to assist.
08:17:17 Devastator: Also, Kennels go waaaaaaay back.
08:17:29 Devastator: They might have been around when I started.
08:17:33 syv: They get a bonus to ambusher too.
08:17:38 Devastator: it's why they're so weird.
08:17:55 syv: Though I've not used them since the stealth changes. Dunno if those even really affected fort mode?
08:26:11 Devastator: stealth changes?
08:30:19 syv: Happened with the movement speed split, I believe?
08:30:41 syv: In adventure mode, characters now have facings and viewcones.
08:31:00 syv: Lighting, cover, and gait now all matter much more than skill.
08:31:35 Devastator: ahh
08:31:38 Devastator: and aww.
08:31:40 syv: You can hide really easily in a bush at night, while even a master is bad at hiding in an open field in broad daylight.
08:31:41 Devastator: :-(
08:31:58 Devastator: tile-based madness.
08:32:00 Devastator: but yes.
08:32:03 Devastator: better
08:32:19 syv: I dunno if those changes affected fort mode though. Fort mode's system has always been kinda weird and different.
09:03:52 er: Mmm
09:05:23 er: So, what would the societal ramifications be if you had certain people with inherent magical powers, and the trait is often heritable but only from the mother
09:09:48 syv: I imagine it would be negative for women.
09:10:04 syv: More cultural view that men are expendable while women must have children.
09:10:20 syv: Which leads to more freedom and social mobility for men.
09:11:05 er: I suppose so.

11:31:19 syv: Societies are pretty fluid and can evolve in different ways for a lot of reasons.
11:32:26 syv: P&P society might very well be matriarchal. Physical power is pretty unimportant when mages are flying around, and that's a big thing driving historical male dominance.

18:08:18 Devastator: ie, the one where he has to make fake seats.
18:08:54 ER: I mean, you don't NEED more seats than that because it's a full server though :P
18:12:40 Devastator: he can't raise the server limit?
18:12:51 ER: probably not

18:32:46 Devastator: ffs.
18:32:55 ER: :P ?

18:36:31 ER: how about we go around instead
19:19:45 Devastator: but loooots.
19:19:51 Devastator: that armour is probably worth more than your pay.
19:20:08 ER: yeah but... armor
19:21:03 ER: there is a fundemental problem with murdering a fool to pry the armor off their corpse, and that is that they're currently wearing armor, which happens to protect them from being murdered
19:21:47 ER: might be able to bypass it if we wrestle him into submission first, but that would require doing that
