00:00:13 IronyOwl: I see I see
00:00:51 Devastator: I might answer a specific question, but I'd like you to ask a specific one.
00:01:31 IronyOwl: where or what do they seem to be most concerned about protecting?
00:03:09 Devastator: The council is pretty egalitarian, but they care more about big cities.
00:03:28 Devastator: small cities and such are less. Sometimes they just care extra about a particular place for reasons unknown.
00:03:52 IronyOwl: suspicious reasons unknown or "some senator's uncle vacations there" reasons unknown?
00:05:51 Devastator: that sort of thing, yeah.
00:05:59 Devastator: not really suspicious.
00:06:15 IronyOwl: do they seem at all concerned with landlocked areas/assets?
00:06:27 Devastator: Yes, but they haven't been attacked by Kaiju.
00:06:38 Devastator: although Kaiju have hit slightly inland targets before.
00:06:50 Devastator: by walking a distance, or swimming up a big river.
00:07:09 IronyOwl: Does it seem like they think super inland areas *might* be attacked by kaiju, or just that they value not having interior oil refineries blown up on general principle?
00:08:24 Devastator: Nobody's 100% sure what's going to happen.
00:08:42 Devastator: but no, they don't seem like anyone particularly expects it, but Kaiju being impossible creatures, well..
00:09:11 Devastator: They do seem pretty clear on knowing they come from the sea, and you know they have some method of seeing them coming.
00:09:20 ER has quit [Read error: Operation timed out]
00:11:16 IronyOwl: oh, another question I meant to ask earlier: does reverse engineering a modded unit basically turn it into what that unit would look like if it were designed from the ground up?
00:11:27 IronyOwl: eg Catgirl 1: EMP Launcher, Armored Skirt
00:11:44 IronyOwl: Catgirl 2: EMP Launcher Mod, Armored Skirt Mod
00:11:51 IronyOwl: Catgirl 3: Reverse Engineer Catgirl 2
00:12:05 IronyOwl: Is Catgirl 1 = Catgirl 3, or no?
00:12:22 Devastator: More or less, although it won't end up better than catgirl 1. Expect minor differences, like you might end up baking in a little extra cost.
00:12:31 IronyOwl: hm hm
00:12:43 IronyOwl: so probably better to build it from scratch if it's possible to do so
00:12:58 IronyOwl: how does mad science factor into this?
00:14:11 Devastator: Maaaad science!
00:14:53 Devastator: too vague.
00:15:31 IronyOwl: Let's say a mad scientist makes a giant gatling wasp with laser eyes and advanced dodging capabilities
00:15:39 IronyOwl: We'll call this Wasp 1
00:15:50 IronyOwl: Another mad scientist makes a giant gatling wasp, Wasp 2
00:16:05 IronyOwl: Wasp 2 is then passed to a third mad scientist who adds laser eyes and advanced dodging capabilities
00:16:15 IronyOwl: Is Wasp 1 = Wasp 2, assuming similar rolls?
00:16:41 IronyOwl: And if an org were to reverse engineer both Wasp 1 and Wasp 2, would the resulting products be similar? Wasp 1a = Wasp 2a?
00:16:44 Devastator: in theory.
00:16:56 Devastator: but mad science projects are far more variable than non mad-science.
00:17:06 IronyOwl: that's what I figured
00:17:07 Devastator: theoretically they could be the same.
00:17:12 IronyOwl: cool, cool
00:24:49 IronyOwl: what about mad science components or mod, like Happerry's delayed attempts to build me a sub engine?
00:25:08 IronyOwl: does that more resemble the commutative results of mad science or the rounding error results of mod work?
00:26:56 Devastator: mad science, but the MS will be notified when it's good enough to do the job.
00:31:47 Devastator: Although in eternal mad science terminology, will never be described as 'satisfying'
00:49:45 Devastator: oh, you might want to ask PW about the logistics of the wasps, IronyOwl.
00:50:41 IronyOwl: uh oh
00:50:48 IronyOwl: are there THINGS he isn't telling me?
00:57:49 Devastator: depends.
00:57:59 Devastator: I don't know what PW told you.
01:16:08 Piecewise: If there are things I'm not telling you, its things I don't know either
01:16:32 Piecewise: I posted an action sometime back in the late 1980's I think and I'm still waiting for my wasps
01:16:40 Devastator: You have your wasps.
01:17:51 Devastator: you can deploy them yourself. You can also build something for someone else, or for you so that you can start another project in their place, or to give them to someone else.
01:19:56 Piecewise: I can't just hand the wasps to irony
01:22:10 Devastator: No, because you have basically hand-reared insects.
01:22:24 Devastator: but irony can pay you to deploy them, or you can build them with someone else's flesh at their place.
01:38:16 Devastator: but yes, you have wasps and you can use them in the upcoming battle.
01:41:29 IronyOwl: hrm, so he's just got a barrel of angry wasps that only respond to him personally?
01:43:29 Devastator: basically. He can build you a hive, or build himself a hive so he doesn't have to rear them, but needs more flesh.
01:44:24 IronyOwl: would the hive produce an infinite supply of wasps?
01:44:38 IronyOwl: bah, always more flesh with this guy
01:45:04 IronyOwl: like all skeletons, acting all friendly at first but then it's all "I need more flesh Irony" and "what are you using yours for anyway meatbag"
01:45:29 Devastator: It'll produce one batch of wasps at a time, for free.
01:45:39 Devastator: you don't know what upkeep is, but don't expect a small numbe.r
01:46:08 IronyOwl: hrm, don't suppose I have any estimates on their relative power/stats?
01:47:00 Devastator: not without seeing them.
01:47:09 IronyOwl: does pw have any estimates on that?
01:47:30 IronyOwl: also, does Naturegirl's wasp require storage, and if so what size?
01:47:39 IronyOwl: she may be trying to sell it to me
01:48:45 Devastator: It's a mad science project, and it's a small.
01:51:11 IronyOwl: so does it need a hangar or what?
01:51:33 Devastator: No it doesn't need a hangar.
01:51:40 Devastator: It's a small.
01:52:02 IronyOwl: oh right, right
02:20:04 Devastator: indeeeed.
03:09:59 Devastator pokes IronyOwl

05:42:04 Devastator: how be ye tonight?
05:44:13 MidJag: not bad, Trying to force myself to study.
05:44:25 MidJag: It's going...okayish.
05:46:22 Devastator: mmm
05:47:55 MidJag: Yeah, it's weird, it's easier to study in a frat house than at home.Yeah, it's weird, it's easier to study in a frat house than at home.
05:48:25 Devastator: yes.
05:48:28 Devastator: you can say that again.
05:48:35 MidJag: heh
07:31:15 MidJag: night

22:59:35 Devastator: around now.
23:03:35 Devastator: dammit, missed by one minute.

23:13:50 IronyOwl has joined #einsteinianroulette
23:14:11 IronyOwl: eeeeey Dev
23:14:19 IronyOwl: how much specifically does city damage matter
23:14:44 IronyOwl: and what's the difference between K-COM killing a kaiju, the military finishing off a kaiju, and the kaiju getting away cleanly?
23:16:43 Devastator: city damage matters significantly.
23:32:26 Devastator: that all?
23:32:51 IronyOwl: I thiiiiiink so
23:33:10 IronyOwl: unless you can tell me whether pw's wasp-flesh needs to be muscle specifically or if guts would work
23:33:51 Devastator: muscle bits specifically.
23:33:55 Devastator: 6 of them.
23:37:07 IronyOwl: yeesh
23:37:28 IronyOwl: these better be some amazing wasps, although I guess self-replacing themselves is worth a lot
23:37:55 Piecewise: Yeah I see
23:38:22 Piecewise: Hey dev, can we just put this on auto pilot till irony gets wasps because I'm checking out over here
23:43:30 Devastator: yeah sure
23:43:47 Devastator: I'll take no orders until irony gets the goods, and then have you auto deliver them.
23:44:25 IronyOwl: you gonna recruit another mad scientist to fill his slot, then?
23:44:28 Devastator: no problem Piecewise.
23:44:30 Devastator: maybe.
23:44:45 Devastator: I'll decide then.
