02:19:49 Devastator: ayy.
02:19:53 Devastator: heya PW.
02:22:15 Devastator pokes Piecewise
02:23:03 Piecewise: hello
02:23:17 Piecewise: I see the prion launcher was...ok
02:23:23 Piecewise: Melted a leg
02:24:33 er has joined #einsteinianroulette
02:24:37 Devastator: Yeah, it did gud.
02:25:28 er: Hullo
02:26:19 er: Need to mount that shut on something which won't get infra
02:26:27 er: Instagibbed
02:26:55 Devastator: yeah.
02:27:32 Devastator: there are certain attacks that armour with no toughness is good against.
02:27:38 Devastator: there are others where it isn't much use.
02:32:00 Devastator: ugh.
02:32:05 Devastator: I need to jazz up the battle descriptions.
02:32:08 Devastator: make them less plain.
02:38:46 Piecewise: You can always use overuse metaphors like I do
02:39:41 Devastator: hmm.
02:39:59 Devastator: http://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/simile
02:42:59 Devastator: Also..
02:43:00 Devastator: http://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/prayer
02:46:11 er: Honestly, I have no idea how to make descriptions nice
02:46:37 er: I think sometimes I accomplish them, but they tend to be strange moods
02:46:55 Devastator: mmm.
02:47:12 Devastator: so what's your opinion on the battles?
02:47:18 er has quit [Quit: AndroIRC - Android IRC Client ( http://www.androirc.com )]
02:47:31 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
02:47:49 ER: mm
02:48:48 ER: almost would prefer if it were more technical. X attacks Y failing to do damage etc
02:49:10 ER: but mostly because that would make getting strategic data from them easier :V
02:49:36 Devastator: heh.
02:49:39 Devastator: not going to be quite that plain.
02:49:48 ER: also, the special grenades weren't mentioned. Did you remember them?
02:50:08 Devastator: Yes.
02:50:32 Piecewise: I mean, you could write it out purely technically and then go back and write it out using that as an outline of sorts
02:50:46 Devastator: That's what I did with the first one.
03:04:41 Piecewise: I'd just try to imagine what it looks like and then say that
03:05:03 Piecewise: there's a ton of description in such things if you think about it
03:05:17 Piecewise: smell, sound, feeling on top of visuals
03:05:42 Devastator: yeah.
03:05:46 Devastator: ..yeah.
03:05:49 Devastator: good advice that.
03:05:56 ER: lots and lots of feelings
03:07:12 Piecewise: Vibration, shaking, heat, cold, dust in your lungs and eyes, etc
03:07:47 ER: whispers from the eyes inside your skull
03:08:01 ER: pain and fear
03:08:53 Devastator: the cries of the damned that went into your catgirl machine.
03:09:19 ER: i have a catgirl machine?
03:09:47 Devastator: presumably.
03:13:45 ER: hmm, good point to feed the anomalies into
03:20:42 Devastator: nom nom.
03:20:57 Devastator: but yes, the special grenades weren't forgotten.
03:21:27 ER: if they weren't described, should I take that to mean they didn't do much noticable?
03:21:34 Devastator: Yeah.
03:42:55 Devastator: mmm.
05:25:43 Yotta has joined #einsteinianroulette
05:26:17 Devastator: Heya Yotta.
05:26:30 Devastator: feel free to do your char sheet. i'm tired today, so I'll do the update tomorrow.
05:26:40 ER: yotta? I haven't heard that name... in a long time...
05:26:40 Yotta: Neato, was about to ask.
05:26:53 Yotta: We are literally talking on discord right this second.
05:27:02 ER: prove it
05:27:09 Piecewise: Shhh discord doesn't exist on IRC
05:27:56 Devastator: I can believe that, but not with me..
05:52:59 Devastator: ..I'm glad you guys are enjoying the game.
05:53:04 Devastator: nice to put something back.

05:56:25 ER: hi hi
05:56:35 Devastator: Also, might watch a movie tomorrow.
05:56:46 MidJag: oh ah new face
05:57:00 MidJag: ^a
05:57:05 MidJag: And cool
05:57:06 ER: yotta?
05:57:23 ER: yeah yotta is some random person who I've never met or talked to~
05:57:52 Devastator: some rando.
05:59:01 Yotta: I don't even know how I got here.
05:59:36 MidJag: No one does
05:59:47 Devastator: you ok for tomorrow, MJ?
05:59:48 Devastator: I do.
05:59:58 MidJag: Also I just realized Yotta is your name supposed to be a refrence to a yottawatt?
06:00:34 Yotta: Yep
06:00:45 MidJag: Cool
06:00:56 MidJag: And maybe Dev.
06:01:08 MidJag: I probably am.
06:01:51 MidJag: My thursday schedule can be a little suspect. But it should work out.
06:02:01 Devastator: yay.
06:02:07 Devastator: ok, so evil dead III.
06:02:46 MidJag: Hail to the king baby
06:03:11 MidJag: I literally just know that line and that's it.
06:03:20 Devastator: That's from Duke Nukem.
06:03:24 Devastator: ;-p
06:03:55 MidJag: Damnit
06:04:04 MidJag: I knew it was one of the two.
06:04:27 ER: didn't duke steal all his quotes
06:05:15 Devastator: a good number.
06:05:19 Devastator: had a number of new ones, though.
06:06:07 Devastator: (hail to the king, baby is Evil Dead III.)
06:06:12 Devastator: ;-p
06:08:11 MidJag_ has joined #einsteinianroulette
06:08:26 MidJag_: Bouncy
06:08:45 ER: boing owo
06:10:25 MidJag_: So what've people been up to?
06:11:08 MidJag has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
06:11:14 Yotta: Feeling out my- oh okay.
06:11:22 Devastator: been working.
06:12:11 MidJag_: Still here
06:13:36 Yotta: Aw, different MidJag.
06:13:58 Yotta: Just filling out my sheet for Dev's Kajiu game.
06:14:17 MidJag_: Cool
06:14:50 ER: I have been... working and idly pondering starting a DnD game
06:15:51 Devastator: thx.
06:16:07 MidJag_: Sounds fun ER. An online one or in person?
06:16:15 ER: in person
06:16:33 MidJag_: Cool
06:16:49 MidJag_: 5e I'm assuming?
06:17:04 Devastator: 8e.
06:17:11 Devastator: ER's from the future, after all.
06:18:05 MidJag_: 8e is simply two rules on a large pdf. Have fun and nat 20'a crit.
06:19:15 ER: yeah, 5e
06:20:15 MidJag_: Cool, any idea of the setting and all that?
06:20:34 Devastator: the setting is a planet-sized regenerating rope ladder.
06:20:45 Devastator: directons are up, down, left and right.
06:23:06 MidJag_: Also Dev, apperentlly people are making a discworld city watch TV show.
06:23:18 Devastator: sounds unsurprising.
06:23:21 Devastator: what era?
06:24:06 MidJag_: Dunno.
06:24:21 MidJag_: Seemingly after Angua joins.
06:24:42 Devastator: Hmm.
06:24:45 MidJag_: Also weirdlly they made Vetinari a lady.
06:24:53 Devastator: It's 2019.
06:25:21 Devastator: lets see.. Angua joins in the first batch after Carrot.
06:26:13 Devastator: so it's Vimes, Carrot, Colon, Nobby, Angua, Cheri, and Detritus.
06:28:18 Devastator: lets see, which book was that again..
06:28:32 MidJag_: Feet of Clay maybe?
06:28:40 MidJag_: Either that or Men at arms.
06:29:07 Devastator: Men at Arms.
06:29:16 Devastator: Feet of Clay is a good bit later, it's about Golems.
06:29:27 Devastator: a little bad, Guards, Guards may be the best novel of the entire series.
06:29:36 Devastator: well, other than Reaper Man.
06:30:09 MidJag_: Reaper man is excellent.
06:30:26 Devastator: Dorfl, that was it.
06:30:30 Devastator: the golem watchman.
06:30:35 MidJag_: And Honestlly I still think feet of clay is one of my favorites.
06:30:44 Devastator: It's been some time since I read it.
06:30:49 Devastator: I remember it being pretty good.
06:31:24 Devastator: I think the decline phase started at or around Thud!
06:31:37 MidJag_: See, I quite liked Thud honestlly.
06:31:39 Devastator: that was I think the second new one I read after starting to read them.
06:31:47 Devastator: it was good, but a bit too.. forced.
06:31:58 MidJag_: It was also one of the first ones I read.
06:32:28 Devastator: didn't cover much new ground, either.
06:32:53 Devastator: so it's either the last good one or the first one that started getting a bit weaker, IMO.
06:34:04 MidJag_: I would say it's a little beyond that. But eh, to each their own.
06:35:00 Devastator: Yeah. Thud wasn't bad.
06:35:18 Devastator: It felt a bit too long, though, and repeated the themes a bit too frequently.
06:35:24 Devastator: but that's just my opinion.
06:36:14 Yotta: Dev, want me to include an action with my character sheet?
06:36:39 Devastator: No.
06:36:42 Devastator: you can action next turn.
06:36:48 Devastator: Plus Night Watch was really good.
06:37:03 MidJag_: I actually have never read Night watch all the way through.
06:37:03 Devastator: and a better treatment of what is, imo, the same theme.
06:37:11 MidJag_: I need to though.
06:37:38 Yotta: yeet my sheet
06:38:33 Devastator: Also, snuff was just awful.
06:39:06 ER: I lost track of this conversation
06:39:16 Devastator: Snuff. one of the last Discworld novels.
06:39:21 Devastator: it was Thud, but way worse.
06:39:54 Devastator: Looks good, Yotta.
06:40:00 Devastator has to put more flavor into the MS turns.
06:40:19 Devastator: hmm.
06:40:20 MidJag_: Okay, so full confession, snuff was the very first Discworld book I read back in like Junior high and I quite liked it when I read it.
06:40:28 Devastator: Heh.
06:40:35 Devastator: no wonder you liked Thud, then.
06:40:46 Devastator: "Hey, a better version of what I just read!" ;-p
06:41:14 Devastator: Nah, where you start is always special.
06:41:56 ER: the one I started with I didn't bother with reading through before returning~
06:42:12 MidJag_: But I have to say when I read the very last Discworld book Raising Steam it just made me sad.
06:42:57 Devastator: Oh?
06:43:04 Devastator: I didn't read that one, actually.
06:43:12 Devastator: was worried about that sort of thing.
06:43:18 MidJag_: Yeah, the alzhermiers was pretty clearlly affecting the story.
06:43:27 Devastator: UA had that, too.
06:43:32 MidJag_: Though it does have some breif flashes that are great.
06:43:32 Devastator: and Snuff, IMO.
06:43:36 Devastator: yeah.
06:43:56 Devastator: Ahh well.
06:44:00 MidJag_: Yeah.
06:44:04 Devastator: I should drink one to Sir Pratchett sometime.
06:44:10 MidJag_: Same.
06:44:29 Devastator: Which one's best?
06:44:49 MidJag_: Hmmmm.
06:45:59 MidJag_: Reaper man is probably one of the best written ones. But I'm having a hard time deciding.
06:46:50 Devastator: Heh.
06:46:55 Devastator: Yeah, there's lots of good ones.
06:47:09 Devastator: I'd put the first two as.. different.
06:47:17 MidJag_: Yeah.
06:47:23 Devastator: and probably equal rites, Mort, and sourcery as him not yet finding his feet.
06:47:36 Devastator: although they're certainly better.
06:47:49 MidJag_: I thought Mort was intresting, but agreed.
06:47:49 Devastator: after that, he's off and running.
06:47:53 Devastator: Yeah.
06:47:59 Devastator: Mort was interesting.
06:48:02 Devastator: but Death is a better character.
06:48:11 Devastator: like how Vimes is a better character than Carrot.
06:48:17 MidJag_: Yeah.
06:49:07 MidJag_: You ever read good omens?
06:49:22 Devastator: Not in entirity.
06:49:32 Devastator: I seemingly have ran into many of the pieces.
06:50:31 Devastator: Mmm.
06:50:52 Devastator: that's probably another point away from Snuff. Seemed to have stepped a bit away from Vimes the person into Vimes the superhero.
06:51:15 Devastator: but that's all point of view.
06:51:28 MidJag_: Yeah.
06:53:13 Devastator: "It's not dwarves with tools, it's not clowns without noses. It's worse than that."
06:53:16 Devastator: what am I talking about?
06:53:25 Devastator: (with makeup, sorry.)
06:54:10 MidJag_: Heh
06:54:24 MidJag_: Damnit, I laughed and forgot what it was.
06:54:40 Devastator: Assassins killing without getting paid.
06:54:46 MidJag_: Damnit.
06:54:50 MidJag_: That was it.
06:54:56 Devastator: it isn't actually said.
06:55:39 Devastator: a page or two later.
06:55:46 Devastator: but it fits.
06:56:05 MidJag_: indeed.
07:06:40 ER: hmm
07:06:46 Devastator: indeeeeed.
07:06:54 Devastator: </flob>
07:06:58 ER: reminds me of that idea I had for gun priests
07:07:46 ER: who are forbidden from using any weapons of their own, and carry sanctified ammo to fire using gun magic
07:08:07 ER: because they like, borrow the firearms of the gods
07:08:17 ER: kinda gun monks, I guess
07:08:48 Yotta: Huh
07:09:15 ER: GUN MONK
07:09:25 Devastator: Literal gun fu, that.
07:10:12 ER: https://youtu.be/_FYsFxxgnoA
07:11:17 Yotta: Instead of hymns, they take out their guns and shoot them with the beat.
07:22:46 MidJag_: night
