01:43:55 Piecewise_: I am trying to find the best way to play a game with my favorite robots in it
01:44:21 Piecewise_: I may just have to make one
01:48:42 Devastator: that's unexpected behavior.
01:48:59 Devastator: any crotch chainsaws?
01:50:03 Piecewise_: PBP games are an interesting medium to try and think about
01:50:32 Piecewise_: its inherently limiting because you cannot do things you could in standard games
01:50:40 Piecewise_: least not if you want things to go any kind of fast

02:02:48 Devastator: we shoulda gotten him in the aparment. Nothing we care about there.
02:02:55 er: All you had to do was not mess with people the Overmind cares about.
02:03:03 Devastator: we can now go murder someone.
02:03:17 er: Now we've settled on killing him too late!
02:03:48 Devastator: eh, not too bad, she's alive and no patients died.
02:03:49 er: Not too late to successfully take him out, mind.
02:04:10 er: But too late to avoid the consequences of letting him live.
02:06:05 er: Doctor dragon rules through both fear and love!
02:07:08 Devastator: now.. do we eat Graad?
02:07:18 er: Doctor dragon either takes care of you or utterly destroys you, nothing in the middle!
02:09:46 Devastator: would take care of the body.
02:10:13 er: Not sure if we can eat that whole thing quick enough.
02:14:02 Devastator: I don't think we ever really tried to see how much we can eat.
02:15:19 Devastator: I think multiple bodies are out.

02:23:14 Devastator: what is draggie's food capacity?
02:23:24 Devastator: and thanks for the update.
02:24:14 Devastator: welp, operation eat all the bodies is a go.
02:24:44 parisbre56: a few steaks are enough to satisfy you but you can eat way more
02:25:41 Devastator: does draggie benefit from doing so?
02:25:49 er: Fuck it, bite all their throats then load up on nutritious people-meat.
02:26:15 er: Gonna go up a size category from this~
02:26:28 parisbre56: don't think I'd let you eat more than an entire body though, if only because it might lead to you eating everything
02:26:56 er: Eat the tough guy, gain his tough guy abilities.
02:27:16 parisbre56: and yeah, you benefit
02:27:24 er: How about one humanoid a day? :)
02:27:46 er: Find a nice cold place rp store 'em.
02:27:59 parisbre56: well, I'd say every half-day
02:28:01 Devastator: yeah, we could store them in their own tanks
02:28:07 Devastator: wow, two bodies a day.
02:28:21 Devastator: I think draggie only is the size of a person.
02:29:51 parisbre56: my answer is "magic"
02:31:44 Devastator: yeah, I'm fine with that.
02:31:55 parisbre56: some of the dragon lore I read has them being able to eat and digest rocks, gems, metals, etc.
02:31:58 Devastator: although, damn, two bodies a day is astonishing.
02:32:14 Devastator: was pushing for 'try to eat anything that smells yummy.'
02:32:26 Devastator: if we get sick, don't eat it again.
02:33:21 Devastator: well, lets go attempt to murder some crooks.
02:35:01 Devastator: yeah, more than twice our bodyweight a day probably would lead to eating everything.
02:35:13 Devastator: especially since it'd probably increase bodyweight as it goes on.
02:35:18 er: That's why we shoulda eaten the sonic rifle.
02:36:05 Devastator: and these guys probably have more guns.
02:36:12 er: HOPEFULLY this time the rest of the overmind assents to us murderizing Graad.
02:37:16 Devastator: Nature voted in favor, so..
02:37:44 parisbre56: nature votes in favor of anything
02:37:49 parisbre56: almost anything, I guess
02:38:35 er: Nature votes in favor of dumb stuff, then instantly takes it back when other options present themselves...
02:38:53 Devastator: but she's extremely big on pacifism.
02:39:07 Devastator: we do also have another rando in favor, so it should help.
02:39:11 er: She didn't support me punching
PW though. :(
02:40:02 parisbre56: anyway, I should try to get some sleep instead of staring at my phone, I gotta go to work in a couple of hours. Later

02:40:22 Piecewise_: I wonder if a d20 roll under or a d20 roll over certain number determined by difficulty is best...
02:41:27 er: They're just different ways of accounting for the same thing,
PW ;P
02:44:04 Piecewise_: True, but the DC's allow for a more...I guess realistic might be the right word
02:44:18 Piecewise_: ie you can more handily control actual challenge
03:02:28 er: But the rtd way of just ignoring the possibility of some things being easier than others leads to hilarity.
03:03:11 er: And you can always just make the consequences of failure be more dire in more challenging scenarios.
03:14:55 Devastator:
Piecewise, do you run any non-forum games?
03:22:19 Piecewise_: That would involve leaving my bunker

03:25:27 ER: Considering coming up with some more concrete rules for a Death Plane rerun
03:25:57 Devastator: Getting my backpack made.
03:26:07 Devastator: Really nice job doing quick cleanup for that mission.
03:26:22 ER: how large of a stabile society should a god need in order to stay alive forever in order to keep with the "entropy always wins" theme?
03:26:43 ER: assuming I also have a system for random events to knock down empires, of course
03:27:23 ER: I guess it doesn't have to be TOO brutal
03:27:37 Devastator: Five hundred is the quick-and-dirty level for the survival of a species.
03:27:50 Devastator: Also, I never got my rad-eating bees.
03:28:34 ER: not survival of the species, survival of the god :P
03:28:52 ER: enough worship to give them more power than they lose each cycle
03:29:33 Devastator: I'd probably say fifty then.
03:29:36 Devastator: enough for a village.
03:30:42 Devastator: well, yes, but making a society of fifty creatures isn't trivial.
03:30:57 Devastator: it's also not permanently sustainable, you'd have to step it up from there to continue to tread water.
03:32:26 Devastator: go with whatever feels good.
03:32:41 Devastator: I'm pretty sure five hundred bees wouldn't be worth more than five hundred humans.
03:33:35 ER: ideally, by the time they become sustainable, they've been treading water long enough to do desperate things which have made the world messed up. :P
03:35:28 ER: I mean, we wouldn't want things to be /easy/~
03:37:05 Devastator: although I doubt success would happen with them.
03:37:13 Devastator: they're too cool but too different.
03:37:59 ER: probably have to build my metaphysics such that things need a more constant source than some hot rocks ;P
03:39:48 ER: it didn't really go the way I'd planned when they made a bloody plastic space station with god-summoned batteries powering the ecosystem, but I didn't explicitly forird that sort of thing. :P
03:40:19 Devastator: I do want my rad-bees, though.
03:40:24 Devastator: and they might be doable before death.
03:41:31 ER: nobody went with "I make some space, then I make intelligent creatures which can survive on nothing in vacuum."
03:42:03 Devastator: yeah, that sounded too broken.
03:42:17 Devastator: would have been weird for someone to do that.
03:46:26 Devastator: bees are more right in my wheelhouse.
03:49:11 ER: I'm not quite sure how that would work.
03:49:25 Devastator: vacuum eaters or bees?
03:50:09 ER: do they have some kind of genuine hivemind? Because if not insects are probably in the category where you get nothing for them existing.
03:51:00 ER: you could always use them to accompish something indirectly, bolster the biodiversity, teraform.
03:51:46 Devastator: probably a hivemind.
03:52:45 Devastator: I'd be already pressed for biodiversity with the starting bit, having maybe enough for one or two other species before running dry.
04:05:02 Piecewise_: Hrm...now I just need to make some test suits...
04:33:29 Devastator: There might be another 80s movie we should watch.
04:34:15 Devastator: so default action B.
05:00:51 Piecewise_: If I did a full mech game it wouldn't be this. This is more just me....satisfying my desire to make something that is as I want. I may test it 1v1 but that would be it.
05:01:13 Piecewise_: Also, the warriors is pretty good
05:01:17 ER throws a glove at Dev right now
05:01:29 Devastator: should we watch that or Taxi Driver?
05:02:22 Piecewise_: They're pretty different. The warriors is basically a gangland magical realism retelling of jason and the argonauts. Taxi driver is the story of a loner with a deathwish obsessed with saving an underaged prostitute.
05:02:56 Piecewise_: If you're looking for something a bit lighter and more fun, Warriors
05:06:44 Devastator: hmm, probably the warriors then.
05:20:12 ER: really tho, I'm hungry for mech action
05:22:18 Devastator: got any mech anime,
PW?
05:26:18 Piecewise_: what kind you feel for?
05:27:21 Piecewise_: Mech stuff is highly varied in tone and ideas, after all
05:30:26 Piecewise_: I'll give you some ideas
05:32:16 Piecewise_: First is The Big O: Mostly episodic, Noir influenced, batman the animated series sort of character designs, pretty unique almost art deco robot designs. Great soundtrack. Considered a classic by many.
05:34:05 Piecewise_: Gundam 8th MS team: Basically giant robot Vietnam war. Lots of great hand drawn animation, moral gray area, big clunky robot fights, etc. Does have a love story in there between a girl and guy on opposing sides and ends with a giant silly super weapon but overall, one of my favorites of the gundam universe
05:36:08 Piecewise_: Blue Gender: This one is almost starship troopers styled. The mechs are much smaller, almost hardsuits, and the battle is vs big ol' bugs. I have fond memories of this and think its pretty good but its also somewhat obscure and does drag a bit here and there. Still, fun.
05:37:41 Piecewise_: G Gundam: Its basically a hyper silly kung fu tournament with giant robots. I mean...thats all it is. It has very silly designs like school girl gundams and chinese devil gundams. Campy as all hell, in a good way.
05:41:00 Piecewise_: Gunbuster: An interesting mech series that is...weirdly grounded in some ways and completely over the top in others. The eponymous gunbuster is absurdly powerful to the point of being almost magic, but they still handle things like time dilation as the pilots see their friends and civilization age and advance between their deep space missions. By they end everyone they knew has died of old age and the world is very
05:41:00 Piecewise_: advanced. Its not unlike Forever War in a way. Quite short series and I think they actually even made a movie of it that compresses the entire series into a few hours. Recommend the episodes though.
05:42:49 Piecewise_: The giant robo movies are great too
05:44:18 Piecewise_: And thats of course ignoring things like Evangelion
05:44:50 Piecewise_: metal skin panic maddox
05:45:14 Piecewise_: stuff that is either really short or too long
05:45:35 Piecewise_: Maddox is a single movie, patlabor is multiple series
05:45:42 Piecewise_: though
sy might like patlabor
05:46:18 Piecewise_: some gun porn in there
05:50:48 Devastator: sounds like some options.
05:50:56 Devastator: have to put something on the list before too long.
05:51:21 Piecewise_: Here's a recommendation list by the way
05:52:04 Devastator: There are totally bad tastes. ;-p
05:54:37 Piecewise_: I'm gonna link an AMV
05:55:05 Devastator: PMMM is really good.
05:55:22 Devastator: Ahh, yes, seen that.
05:56:41 Piecewise_: Nah, just remarking on the nature of linking AMVs
05:56:57 Piecewise_: Like its 2008 again or something
05:57:42 Devastator: It's still next-gen to me.
05:58:21 Piecewise_:
Dev is watching all his anime on laser disk
05:58:47 Piecewise_: I'm out for the night. Later taters
05:59:48 Devastator: laserdisk is too new. ;-p
06:00:52 Piecewise_: 8mm film with 8trac audio then
06:01:15 Devastator: I did have a 8mm projector once upon a time.
06:19:22 Devastator: ran into a name for a kid character in a shitty movie that's the same name as my best friend.
06:28:56 ER: well, K6BD is being interesting, for K6BD
06:29:22 Devastator: I kinda was hoping for more fighting in the fighting arc.
06:35:15 Devastator: also, does that mean coke's unbound atm?
06:36:40 ER: I dunno. I guess a devil's identity is something seperate from their soul, so she's unbinding her soul while attaching her identity to alison.
06:38:14 ER: oh yeah, you see parts of her body dissolving
06:42:22 Devastator: Also wondering if this is setting up for a threesome.
06:42:37 Devastator: (Of course not, because A will never reach Z.)
06:48:31 Devastator: I wonder what happens if an angel wears a demon's mask.
06:51:47 Devastator: Yeah, hence why it's a good combo.
06:51:51 Devastator: remove one mask, put on another.
06:59:20 Devastator: yeah, was trying to call it.
07:00:38 ER: "It's the north pole. follow the compass, and if it suddenly flips around, you went too far."
07:04:20 ER: he's usually here earlier if he's here at all
07:15:31 ER: right, can't stay up all night
07:15:44 Devastator: have to watch something another time.
