00:00:18 ER: in Peace Walker they kinda explain why it makes sense to attach an ICBM to a walking mech, but in MGS1 it's just because mechs are cool
00:00:43 Devastator: It still doesn't make sense.
00:00:48 Devastator: It's because giant robots.
00:00:59 ER: anyway, my theory is that they had to put it on a giant robot due to some magical property of giant robots in MGS universe
00:01:19 ER: because giant robots are Just Better according to god
00:02:00 ER: ...but in MGS4 they take the railgun and stick it to a boat so that doesn't actually work!
00:07:15 Devastator: Railguns! Clearly not ICBMs!
00:07:52 ER: no no,
PW is set during the cold war, so they didn't have railguns yet~
00:10:09 ER: Peace Walker is a four legged AI controlled mech that's supposed to automatically trigger all of the USA's nucular arsenal in the case of nuclear war, made in the belief that humans wouldn't be willing to pull the trigger so you need AI for true deterrence.
00:10:25 ER: It also has an ICBM attached to it because of course.
00:10:53 ER: It has legs so that it can go innawoods and be hard to preemptively destroy
00:12:33 Devastator: as opposed to a silo or a truck..
00:13:19 ER: nobody said they were clever games~

02:53:33 syv: Heeey so
MJ sent me a message saying that he wants to play games tonight, but he sent it three hours ago and might be asleep now. That works out for *me* if he wakes up anytime soon, cause I work for eight hours tonight starting in like forty mins, but I'unno what's happening on his end.
02:53:56 syv: Just popping on real quick to mention this, will be back later after the drive. Cya.
03:42:27 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
03:42:27 syv: Mm. Still no Jaggers? Ah well.
03:43:17 ER: Beaglerush playing an excellently suspenseful xcom2 mission
03:45:27 ER: his very own cluster of mods that he adjusts as he plays
03:46:02 syv: Actual gameplay mods or just the assortment of QoL mods that XCOM 2 more or less needs?
03:46:37 syv:
Devastator, you around tonight?
03:46:51 ER: it's called "operators vs aliens" and the only non-hero soldier class is Operator
03:47:26 ER: who can equip any primary weapon, with some skills being tied to the weapons themselves
03:47:41 syv: I mean the fact that there's still heroes is a little ugh, but I like classless!
03:47:42 ER: of course it has the wotc classes
03:48:18 ER: but the majority of it is classless
03:49:41 ER: I guess because that's the magic + melee + aggro class :V
03:49:54 syv: And I like the edgy snipers with the SVD-esque rifle, of course. Still! Hero classes in XCOM. -.-
03:51:05 ER: ah yes, the "even more stealthy than stealthy troops" class
03:51:28 ER: yeah, wotc adds propaganda posters that you can shoot
03:51:43 ER: he has a lot of mods for soldier poses
03:53:35 ER: though the balance changes as he plays because he's making the mod set :P
03:53:53 ER: so sometimes things too easy, sometimes things get rough
03:53:59 syv: Is he gonna share it after?
03:54:24 syv: His people do look awesome
03:54:54 ER: lot of soldier cosmetic mods
03:55:11 ER: he likes his people to look "tactical" :P
03:55:18 syv: Yeah, but most cosmetic mods are bad.
03:55:34 ER: knows how to pick em, I guess
03:55:53 syv: Yeah, I like the same look, except early on when I want them to look realistic.
03:56:07 syv: But... lots of mods, most adding tons and tons of bad options.
03:56:29 syv: He's got a good set. Or just scrolls through hundreds and hundreds of options, I guess.
03:56:48 ER: might be a little of the latter :P
03:56:57 syv: Fatigue was the worst mechanic of LW.
03:57:15 syv: Does he have the uniform mod?
03:57:37 syv: Ugh, and the bonding mechanic. I just hate the concept of that, even more micro.
03:57:41 ER: not sure exaclty whay that means
03:57:50 syv: Oh wow I like that tree though
03:58:40 syv: There's an XCOM 2 mod which lets you save a character's entire appearance, every piece of the uniform, and apply it to other soldiers as desired.
03:58:56 ER: I also really like this music that was added with the tactical legacy pack DLC
03:59:03 syv: It is glorious, because I like my militaries to look consistent, and I only need to make the actual uniform once.
03:59:14 ER: yeah, you uses something like that
03:59:32 ER: gives everyone the same basic uniform
04:00:29 syv: He's also using the prosthetic... mods, plural, I think. Which is cool because when your troops get seriously injured, they'll get randomly genned prosthethics.
04:00:59 syv: Which I think stack too, so if one of your troops *keeps* getting nesrly killed over and over again, they'll run out of limbs.
04:01:06 ER: think he's going to add that for next time because Wilson lost his legs
04:01:24 syv: Oh, the guy didn't actually have prosthetics? Huh.
04:01:25 ER: ie his legs mysteriously disappeared while he was down and everyone rn with it
04:02:37 syv: ...Is that Spartan armor? From Halo?
04:03:18 syv: I know there's mods that port all the Halo armors from the games, but he actually made it look reasonable.
04:03:30 syv: Also, it took me awhile to notice. :\
04:03:53 ER: just colors everything black and you don't know where it's from :P
04:04:16 ER: looks like something out of reach or something though, yeah
04:04:32 syv: I give my troops gray camo, because urban.
04:04:57 syv: I wish there were a mod to change the armor colors based on the map, though I suppose thatcwouldn't make sense lore-wise.
04:06:04 ER: just pretend that the gurrela xcom are a bunch of mall ninjas who want to look cool rather than be comoflaged
04:06:41 syv: These are people who run into battle against giant snakes with guns, using SWORDS AND AXES
04:06:53 syv: They're canonically mall ninjas.
04:07:04 syv: Also, their recruitment blurbs are hilariously stupid.
04:07:20 ER: giant snakes in POWER ARMOR
04:07:42 syv: "This guy is some complete shmuck, but hecrashed a truck into an Advent communications tower. We like his spirit, let's give him a gun!"
04:07:56 ER: though I think this mod, they don't use swords
04:08:07 syv: Vipers in power armor? FULL power armor? Or are you just referring to their standard breastplates?
04:08:27 ER: it's a mod, this mission was the first time I've seen it
04:08:36 ER: but it seems to be vipers in full power armor
04:10:08 ER: he's referring to a mission on the sewer tileset where basically the entire map was crammed with advent troopers
04:10:44 syv: Was it actually subterranean?
04:11:28 syv: Oh god power armor vipers look SO BADASS
04:11:39 syv: But it's a WotC-only mod. ;-;

04:13:42 syv: Sadly they're dudes, but still awesome.
04:14:59 syv: Apparently. If I wrote it I'd have just left that ambiguous and allowed people to pretend the tits were just hidden by armor, but oh well.
04:15:16 syv: That looks like multiple soldier classes.
04:15:49 syv: Where the stream paused for me. :P
04:16:06 syv: It listed assassins, assaults, grenadiers, and another.
04:16:28 syv: Along the left actually. Training a rookie I think.
04:16:35 ER: I think the LW classes are listed, and they all say (0) next to them
04:17:01 ER: he doesn't have any of those anyways
04:19:10 syv: Hum, I like whatever this dark event/retaliation progression is
04:19:35 syv: LW2 feels a lot more "real", but also pretty arbitrary and unfair.
04:20:04 ER: wotc goes pretty opposite to LW2 I guess :P
04:20:57 ER: orcs who appear in missions and beat you up
04:21:45 syv: That's not even a question!
04:21:57 ER: you know he can't hear you over here, right...? ;p
04:22:46 syv: Oh god he has only one pip left for the avatar project.
04:23:31 syv: What the hell is he doing, switching between multiple resource piles?
04:23:56 syv: Is there some new mechanic to encourage that?
04:24:45 ER: I don't own vanilla, and I pay more attention to combat because it's exciting :P
04:29:03 syv: Dodge stacking is fun, especiallt in games where there's no cap.
04:29:36 ER: yup, that's cool looking armor
04:30:13 ER: would take way too damn long without it
04:30:27 syv: And yet the base game has NOTHING.
04:30:46 syv: I hope if he posts the modpack, he also posts his uniforms.
04:33:15 ER: some cosmetic stuff taken from CoD games I think
04:34:25 ER: he only likes guns that make good gun sounds, which is a laudable stance as far as I'm concerned
04:35:13 syv: Don't see an obvious real guns mod, but I found a Cannon -> M249 mod, which is plenty great.
04:43:32 syv:
MJ sent me a message before I woke up asking to play SWAT 4, and I was wondering if you'd want to join us. But he seems to be asleep, so not terribly likely.
04:43:45 Devastator: where would I have gotten that?
04:44:00 syv: From my Dropbox like two weeks ago.
04:44:11 Devastator: although I got it via torrent.
04:44:30 syv: Ah yeah, I think I dropboxed the mod stuff.
04:46:21 syv: Well, if you're not busy at all, I'd kinda like to test to make sure it can connect to a multiplayer server, but it's not a high priority.
04:50:24 syv: Do you have the SWAT 4 stuff folder/file?
04:50:33 Devastator: I have the Gold Edition download.
04:50:37 Devastator: ..don't know about the mod stuff.
04:51:34 syComp has joined #einsteinianroulette
04:51:54 syComp: ^Mod files + stupid controller stuff.
05:00:58 Devastator: downloading mod stuff.
05:01:01 syv: Not one in currently, but he'd like one. And I'd love one.
05:01:05 Devastator: have game but not mod stuff.
05:01:50 syv: ...Yeah, mostly just 'cause SEF is big.
05:03:53 syComp has left #einsteinianroulette
05:04:10 syv: It's an overhaul mod for SWAT 4.
05:04:32 syv: The base game is good, but has a lot of bugs and inadequancies. The mod... just adds a lot. A LOT.
05:04:55 syv: Makes the game better, and fixes many bugs, while introducing relatively few. And gives many more options, which is nice.
05:13:01 Devastator: reading your controller stuff.
05:14:06 syv: I use the controller because the base binds are bad IMO, and the controller is just nice.
05:14:19 Devastator: lets see how it goes.
05:14:34 syv: You'll probably prefer the keyboard, but I highly recommend rebinding things, and I won't be able to say what keys do what things.
05:15:41 syv: Run the SEF mod by clicking launchSEF.bat in the /SEF/ folder
05:16:13 syv: Then... multiplayer, and if servers pop up, join one that says SEF 6.4 in green. In a moment I'll have it up myself.
05:18:12 syv: Yeah, as soon as I click "Join game" a bunch pop up.
05:18:27 syv: Did you swap in the two engine.dll ?
05:18:52 Devastator: incorrectly, apparently.
05:20:24 syv: Checked my instructions, they're correct. Both dlls must be copied, both must be named engine.dll, and they need to be in two different folders.
05:20:43 syv: content/system/ and contentExpansion/system
05:21:02 syv: They're replacing the original game's engine.dll, which is defunct.
05:22:04 syv: ...Hmm. I might be able to just copy the MP server's IP #, and you could type it in manually.
05:23:08 syv: Click mod to sort, click "Official NA", just to see if it connects?
05:24:02 syv: Yeah, think you're connected, cool.
05:27:23 syv: Oh, playable vipers is possible. I have that mod (enables all aliens actually) in my LW2 game, because I'm a scrub who enjoys winning.
05:28:23 syv: Not u=even using alternate skins, like the base game neophytes, or that mod's AWESOME power armor.
05:28:46 ER: I want a mod where I have a bunch of vipers with different cosmetics and skills and I fly around in a UFO and beat up the resistance >_>
05:28:56 syv: It'd be awesome if he added ayys in and actually balanced them, while adding cosmetics. Would be reasonable in a modpack.
05:29:28 ER: he probably wouldn't, being a human supremacist~
05:29:47 syv: I imagine that should be quite possible. Just nobody would do it because it'd require a complete scrubbing or rewrite of the strategic and avenger views.
05:30:01 syv: Might be reasonable as a modified multiplayer mode though.
05:30:41 ER: honestly just vipers with different types of plasma gun and sunglasses
05:31:17 ER: my edgy OC is a viper in aviators
05:32:59 Devastator: If it's just you
syv, vs squads we should stick together at first.
05:35:09 Devastator: damn, forgot about that computer.
05:35:22 Devastator: also to close my torrent client.
05:35:25 syv: Huh, my adblocker is no longer working on surviv
05:38:49 ER: y'all having fun surviving over there?
05:38:57 ER: planning on dying any time soon?
05:39:10 syv: He should die soon but won't because he's dead.
05:39:56 Devastator: won't because he's dead?
05:44:26 syv: Ah, yeah, that'd explain your shots.
05:44:31 ER: because fuck reasonable choices, it was a mosin
05:44:41 Devastator: damn, didn't think he had a sniper as a backup.
05:44:53 Devastator: and I got 50% of the damage.

06:00:35 Devastator: You did the murdering there.
06:00:42 Devastator: those last guys were pretty good, though. I was too agressive.
06:00:45 Devastator: should have naded them.
06:00:52 Devastator: and you passed on that garand..
06:01:59 Devastator: ahh, the curse of x15.
06:08:40 Devastator: good! You very nearly nailed him with that barrel.
06:09:04 Devastator: Always. But you made it.
06:12:41 Devastator: ugh, didn't get my shotty out.
06:12:48 Devastator: and damn, that guy had l3 armour and hat.
06:18:01 syv: And it returns, I'm already dead.
06:19:00 syv: >Charging a guy who has a sawnoff, with an axe
06:19:13 syv: Aside from that, well done.
06:19:14 Devastator: I was going to switch to the mac-10 and duck back when he finished reloading, but mistimed it.
06:19:19 Devastator: or dive into the red.
06:19:24 Devastator: people don't expect you to dive into the red.
06:23:26 Devastator: and fucked that up terribly, dammit.
06:23:30 Devastator: blew the grenade in my face.
06:23:41 Devastator: but yeah, next time like that go for the fist.
06:27:44 Devastator: and those two had damn well better win.
06:27:57 Devastator: M4A1-s AND a saiga.
06:31:32 syv: Run away from the big pile of loot, yes.
06:31:49 syv: Try and curb your bloodthirst a bit, yeah? :P
06:33:20 Devastator: told ya you can kill sawn-off guys with axes.
06:36:47 Devastator: ..I thought that was you in that building.
06:36:57 Devastator: otherwise I think I'd have had them both.
06:40:32 ER: I feel like an IRC game, somewhat
06:40:33 Devastator: Ok, no more revolver.
06:41:34 ER: not much more specific than that...
06:45:01 syv: Should've ran to the connex container.
06:45:14 Devastator: good move against that healing guy, though.
06:45:17 Devastator: that was a nice shot.
06:45:30 Devastator: got tricked by the guy with the sawn-off you beat.
06:45:36 Devastator: I did hurt him a bit, but he had some slick moves.
06:51:52 syv: It froze right as I saw the guy
07:16:57 syv: Oh hey Hunt is up to date.
07:17:32 ER: just have to poke at an ocean system simple enough to IRC for a bit and now I'm tired and never want to look at this again
07:17:59 ER: whereas before I really wanted to do an IRC game but wasn't currently doing so!
07:19:33 syv: I could run something, if you'd like.
07:20:36 ER: may as well show you what I made so you can tell me how terrible it really is
07:22:25 ER: say, 5 points spread across skills, max 3, if something goes up to 3 you have to lower something else to -1
07:22:52 ER: each kind of magic is a skill, there's also a skill for each kind of hybrid magic
07:23:11 syv: Why the reductive color system?
07:23:29 ER: casting hybrid magic requires either being skilled in every kind or being skilled in the hybrid style
07:23:43 ER: but hybrid skill doesnt let you cast pure color
07:25:18 syv: What do Determination and Thought do?
07:27:18 ER: determination for continuing to move after doing so would result in farther injuring yourself, thought for letting us both be lazy and me just tell you the answer
07:27:55 ER: uh, determination is physical and mental endurence, thought is intelegence and perception
07:28:23 syv: So crows are for bad players, cuttle for powergamers, cats for munchkins.
07:28:42 syv: I find it amusing that birds are smarter than humans.
07:29:00 ER: and humans are for good little mooks who like to hold their rifles
07:29:24 Devastator: Day off tomorrow, so will do at least
MJ's birbgame.
07:30:37 ER: Corvae are the nearest empire to the humans, they have crap resources and still use a lot of wood and windpower
07:31:08 ER: Cuttle were discovered as a single tribe by the humans, so they're pretty much human culturally
07:32:02 ER: humans had a civil war that split them in two. evil empire is racist, rebels are sexist specifically against human females
07:32:26 ER: ursun are isolationist and like swords
07:33:13 ER: cats are similar to cuttle, but antisocial and used almost like weapons by the empire
07:33:28 syv: So... I'd assume the cuttle aren't really among the racist humans, so are cuttle females therefore prized...?
07:33:49 syv: ...Do cuttlefish even have binary genders?
07:34:11 ER: cuttle home is to the east with the rebels, cat home is to the west with the empire
07:34:50 syv: Yes they do, and they have a massive gender imbalance of more males than females.
07:35:03 ER: all these are native to one cluster, nearest cluster is to the north, home to dolphins and weirder things
07:35:38 syv: "smaller cuttlefish use their camouflage abilities to disguise themselves as a female cuttlefish. Changing their body color, and even pretending to be holding an egg sack, disguised males are able to swim past the larger guard male and mate with the female."
07:36:07 Devastator: it's not really unusual in the animal kingdom, that.
07:36:21 Devastator: Baboons do that sort of thing, too.
07:36:47 ER: male cuttle pretending to be female to impress their human officers
07:37:50 syv: On baboons: "However, males will also take infants during fights to protect themselves from harm."
07:38:20 syv: I'm not certain what that's supposed to mean, but the only thing I can imagine is a baboon adult grabbing a baby and using it as a shield from the angry father.
07:40:38 syv: Honestly, seems like a kinda poor plan. I thought baboons were smart enough that the father could hold a grudge, and making him accidentally punch his own kid is a really really good way to seriously piss him off.
07:40:54 Devastator: He can get more kids.
07:41:06 Devastator: ..and hey, one fewer kid for the primary is good for your genes.
07:41:27 syv: Oh hey, Egan, update Tactihell.
07:41:51 syv: You've only got two real actions, arguably only one. Should be easy.
07:42:13 ER: also the capitals of both the empire and rebels are a couple blocks away in the same city, on an island that's independant from both
07:43:01 syv: Where is Ocean in Hell's cosmology?
07:43:02 Devastator: well, barring mutations related to demon consumption.
07:43:18 syv: Are there [kittens] in Ocean?
07:44:02 syv: Uhm. That capital situation would be awfully violent.
07:44:17 syv: Is this like, a Sigil faction deal?
07:44:32 ER: Ocean is on the same level as that entire metaphysical map of the timeless void, except it's all physical space
07:44:49 syv: That island/city is way more important in the grand scheme of things, but tolerates them?
07:46:24 ER: The city is just very economically and culturally important, and the war was long ago enough that the two sides and sort of tolerate each other.
07:47:24 ER: having their capitals there gives them legitimacy because people see that as the de facto capital of the human world anyway
07:47:30 Devastator: Could be low-intensity warfare.
07:47:54 Devastator: ceasefire on the main island, war elsewhere.
07:50:57 syv: But... then why is it the capital? Is it purely a show capital that neither of them actually have much investment in? But then it wouldn't be economically important. And you said it was independent, meaning neither faction is in control, so who *is* in control? Does the city have its own government and military to keep the factions in check? Why does it tolerate them both having their capitals there, then?
07:52:01 syv: Plus, if it's important enough that both the factions really want to own it, then isn't it essentially being half *occupied* by the enemy, in both factions' views?
07:52:18 ER: because the most plausable thing is neither interesting nor always what happens in history :P
07:52:59 syv: Most plausible isn't the problem, plausible at all is. There's gotta be some kind of stabilizing force, because there's a lot of destabilizing forces here.
07:54:46 Devastator: Probably a unifying city government, then.
07:56:44 ER: well, they certainly would be armed
07:57:25 syv: I think the only unarmed beings in this universe are cats, and cats just detonate your head with their mind.
07:57:35 ER: both sides are democracies, and starting a fight there would obviously be unpopular
07:57:59 ER: it's less important to own it when they have access to it
07:58:22 Devastator: There's armed and there's armed.
07:59:20 Devastator: Like the difference between militia with rifles and rocket launchers and militia with light artillery and SAM batteries.
07:59:31 ER: and when I say their capitals are there, I mean their seats of government, many other important things are elsewhere
08:01:30 syv: I think cats might be the light artillery and the SAM batteries.
08:02:08 ER: there are also ships. with guns. gunships.
08:02:51 ER: not all settings with magicucastas also lack artillery that isn't some guy in a robe~
08:04:50 Devastator remembers a forum game where I wanted to make a battleship powered via magical girl inside giant turret-staff.
08:05:30 ER: in this world battleships are powered by magical cats
08:06:46 Devastator: ...of course, I also wanted to make a pirate aircraft carrier in one of the illustrator D&D games I played via evil idol that turned creatures into monstrous versions of themselves.
08:07:46 syv: ...Why is that on Wikipedia?
08:12:18 ER has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
08:26:23 Devastator: PS still nothing but pain?
08:47:54 syv: Hmm. Found a Dark Souls video set to a Japanese song, apparently produced by a Japanese person. Which makes me wonder why I haven't seen much of any Japanese Dark Souls fan works, compared to the massive amount of Western stuff.
08:48:20 Devastator: because youtube knows you aren't japanese?
08:49:56 syv: I've watched plenty of Italian DaS videos.
08:51:34 syv: Also, sure, YT wouldn't show me original Jap stuff, but I've also seen very lttle Jap fan art, or videos beig used by other people. I know the PvPers keep track of what the Japs do, and sometimes learn stuff from them, but to my knowledge the vast majority of the information there flows east.
08:52:17 syv: Plus, subs are easy and there's certainly a community for those, enough of an overlap between anime fans and DaS fans.

10:19:05 syv: You actually slept a reasonable amount of time, how strange!
10:19:39 syv: ...Also waking up at seven. That's strange too, and not justified by jet lag. Be a normal student and sleep until noon or something!
10:20:31 midnightjaguar: In this case it is actually, I fell asleep at like 8 and woke up at 5 it’s a weird feeling.
10:20:55 syv: ...Oh yeah, you're -1 from me, not +1.
10:22:06 midnightjaguar: Must be what being the unicorn on that trip is like.
10:24:29 syv: Mm. Yeah, waking up at a reasonable hour, sleeping a full night, pure craziness.
10:25:23 syv: Well, I'll be available to do stuff that needs an internet connection for about an hour, then I'm heading home. Doubt you want to do any online stuff in the morning, but there you go.
10:25:54 syv: I'll prolly also be falling asleep pretty soon after going home, due to my sched shifting backwards by like five hours a couple days ago.
10:27:06 midnightjaguar: Honestly I’m kinda down to do some SWAT 4 stuff for an hour if that works
10:28:35 syv: Do you have it downloaded, and do you have the mod stuff?
10:28:59 midnightjaguar: Uhh downloaded yes. I’m not sure about the mod stuff
10:29:04 syv: If you don't have the mod stuff
10:29:25 syv: If you only finished the torrent, you'll need to install the game as well.
10:29:46 midnightjaguar: Nah it’s installed and run so that’s not an issue
10:30:43 syv: Well, download the mod stuff, unzip it, there's instructions in the folders. I can clarify if anything's unclear.
10:39:18 midnightjaguar: Unzipping it is taking forever for unclear reasons
10:39:56 syv: Uh. Well, it is a pretty massive compression. Are you using 7zip?
10:41:26 midnightjaguar: Nah, lemme grab that real quick and try that
10:42:16 syv: Ah. Apologies for using 7z, I just default to it in general.
10:45:25 midnightjaguar: Up. There we go
10:46:08 midnightjaguar: If I’m not using a controller Is that a problem?
10:46:24 syv: Just means I can't tell you whay keys do what.
10:47:20 syv: Opening mine now. When you open swat (usig the LaunchSEF batch file in /SEF/), does it say v6.4 (Release) in the lower right?
10:47:49 midnightjaguar: One sec I’m getting that set up.
10:48:03 syv: Ah, kay. Ping me when done.
10:53:33 midnightjaguar: I think that done
Syv
10:53:54 midnightjaguar: I can’t seem to find LaunchSEF batch in the SEF folder though
10:53:54 syv: Cool. Run the LaunchSEF.bat, and let it open.
10:57:55 midnightjaguar: Alright. I’m gonna see if I have any non rotten food in my fridge while it extracts again.
11:05:41 midnightjaguar: Damn. Unless beer and soda counts as food that’s a strong nope.
11:07:37 syv: Both have digestable calories, so I guess they do?
11:10:59 syv: All of their voices are terrible, though I presume that's intentional.
11:12:25 midnightjaguar: It is indeed. And it’s hilarious.

22:58:49 Devastator: Been watching some interesting vids lately.
22:59:31 MidJag: How have you guys been?
22:59:32 Devastator: The AGP guy also did another AAR, this time featuring blowing up the world.
23:00:00 MidJag: Oh? I thought All gaurdsmens party was all written
23:00:23 Devastator: Nah, didn't finish things off last posting.
23:00:30 Devastator: although the parts of it are on the webpage now.
23:00:45 Devastator: and the AARs are him breaking warhammer total war, basically.
23:02:00 Devastator: This one has videos and screenshots. All the previous ones are all screenshot.
23:02:14 Devastator: "Most notable event from Chaos Invasion 2: due to the increasingly erratic event log bug, the records show that our newest recruit defeated the Chaos Sorcerer "Cat Dew" in glorious battle."
23:02:46 MidJag: how about you
ER how're you?
23:08:13 Devastator: If you don't care about anything else.
23:09:48 MidJag: is he playing as the Skaven or something?
23:10:27 ER: I could complain about my life to you, but I literally have a therapist for that
23:10:41 Devastator: The run is called "Dr. Strange-Claw."
23:10:46 ER: and I just got back from that so I'd rather not?
23:12:18 MidJag: And that looks very entertainig
dev.
23:12:26 MidJag: How does he make things blow up?
23:12:57 Devastator: Skaven can build very expensive things underneath cities called 'doomspheres'. They're basically magic nukes.
23:13:21 Devastator: So.. he had his skaven infest every single settlement on the map, and build a nuke under each and every one.
23:13:45 MidJag: This it total war warhammer game right?
23:14:42 Devastator: I think it's TW Warhammer 2.
23:15:21 ER: eh, the second one is basically an expansion pack to the first one
23:16:03 Devastator: Dunno, don't really play it.
23:16:17 Devastator: I played them up to Empire 1, and then gave up.
23:18:16 MidJag: I've never actualy played Total wae
23:18:32 Devastator: Well, if you start I recommend going with the recent ones.
23:19:12 Devastator: The old ones are in a lot of ways better, but you wouldn't want to give up things like 'not completely incompetent strategic AI' going forward.
23:19:44 Devastator: Yeah. Was a mistake to abandon provinces..
23:20:52 Devastator: Back in the day, instead of using a fine grid system you simply moved armies from one province to another.
23:21:10 Devastator: You then built things inside those provinces.
23:21:16 MidJag: And the AI could handle it better?
23:22:28 Devastator: Tactically it was only marginally better, but it was so much easier for the AI, when you could defend whole provinces, say.
23:22:46 MidJag: And the modern games can't deal with a grid?
23:23:20 Devastator: Well.. no, not really.
23:23:44 Devastator: particularly with all the stuff they tacked on it. But no, movement ranges are much harder to work with than just connections.
23:25:52 Devastator: It still wasn't great, but it was simpler.
23:33:46 Devastator: gimmie a sec,
MidJag.
23:33:52 Devastator: I'll do your birdgame turn in about 90 minutes, ok?
23:58:11 Devastator: ..I did the others last week, so I'll need orders again soonish..
