01:16:16 ER: amazing, I missed a whole day of IRC
01:16:27 ER: a log file that doesn't have me in it at all
02:37:34 Devastator: The important thing about Moral Dilemmas, though, is that they only apply to people who are moral.
02:53:34 Devastator: "Aw, c'mon. It's just an imaginary friend. How can threatening an imaginary friend be Evil?"
03:27:37 Devastator: so how's Magnus boy going to explain those wings?
03:28:25 ER: mostly the emperor is just going to make a lot of bird puns
03:28:44 ER: and also claim that he planned everything
03:33:16 Devastator: Love the washing machine in the office.
03:35:27 Devastator: I don't think the emperor is going to run out of bird puns.
03:35:33 Devastator: someone else, mayb.e
03:36:43 Devastator: But bro-peror could probably keep it up for centuries.
03:39:27 Devastator: Are they going to actually build an army?
03:41:00 Devastator: and there have to be bikes.
03:41:05 Devastator: even if it's superfluous.
03:41:15 Devastator: it's like sponson weapons on a Lehman Russ.
03:41:37 Devastator: Even if you don't need them, nay Especially if you don't need them, take them anyway.
03:42:55 Devastator: "Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes."
03:43:06 Devastator: "The Crimson Tiger Shield-Host."
03:46:33 Devastator: Oh god, Custodes-level Dreadnaught.
03:46:37 Devastator: That's going to be something.
03:48:11 Devastator: Fabulous Dreadnaught.
03:49:56 Devastator: Kitten needs a fancier costume.
03:50:06 Devastator: It runs, such as it does, on fancy costumes.
04:00:17 Devastator: Magnus, why the fuck are you suprised at the Empra knowing stuff?
04:12:27 Devastator: not enough bird puns.
04:17:22 Devastator: god, I hope we get more updates.
04:17:30 Devastator: There are better things, but it's always satisfying.
04:52:07 Devastator: Sadly, I think it'll take years again, due to the story requiring an actual 40k battle to continue.
05:03:45 ER: Yuni is having a spot of trouble though.
05:04:32 Devastator:
PW, what should someone coughing up blood after breaking a rib do?
05:05:02 ER: While surrounded by enemies and a long way from any allies as well.
05:05:26 Piecewise_: I am neck deep in fumes here
05:05:37 Piecewise_: coughting up blood after a broken rib?
05:05:41 Devastator: happy fumes or bad fumes.
05:05:46 Piecewise_: Punctured lung usually
05:06:05 Piecewise_: is this what you are doing?
05:06:11 Devastator: Assume the character will magically survive if the next half hour or so survived.
05:06:14 Devastator: Nah, nothing to do with me.
05:06:29 Piecewise_: Paint thinner fumes
05:06:32 Piecewise_: working on that zoid
05:06:39 Devastator: Not making some TATP?
05:08:15 Devastator: triacetone triperoxide.
05:10:27 Devastator: So what should punctured-lung person do?
05:10:50 ER: try not having such a terrible life~
05:19:13 Devastator: dangit, I was hoping for the skeleton to be our saviour in our time of need.
05:19:44 ER: you summon him for a specific purpose and he still doesn't help :P
05:26:01 Devastator: maybe you can go knife-fishing.
05:26:18 Devastator: it'd be a real test to see if you're just incredibly skilled with knives or if you're truly supernaturally skilled with them.
05:33:32 Piecewise_: well punctured lungs generally need medical attention
05:33:39 Piecewise_: surgical intervention
05:34:01 Piecewise_: They can sometimes just heal themselves, depending on the severity
05:34:04 Devastator: It might be possible if she doesn't die that quickly.
05:34:19 ER: we do have two mad scientists.
05:34:24 Piecewise_: She shouldn't die THAT quickly so long as her lung doesn't collapse
05:34:34 Devastator: so how to avoid that?
05:35:13 ER: The Vampire is ALSO currently dying, and is actually in worse shape so I wouldn't count on that kind of help...
05:35:32 Devastator: Also, she's an avianthrope.
05:36:45 ER: Yuni might also not want to become slightly more of an abomination by getting vamped.
05:37:29 Piecewise_: "A punctured lung is never an enjoyable experience"
05:37:43 Devastator: At this point we're mostly measuring it in abomination scores, really.
05:37:45 Piecewise_: "Yeah thanks dude, I could guess that
05:38:24 ER: Is susy actually the lowest scoring abomination of the group?
05:38:26 Devastator: The MC, for instance, is a double-vampire with a Resident Evil style zombie arm.
05:39:18 Devastator: In the running against the drider mad scientist with the self-inflicted massive sex drive.
05:39:29 Devastator: After that was the guy turning into a dullahan.
05:39:45 ER: Other than that he's fine! ;P
05:39:53 Devastator: Hey, he might be fine.
05:40:00 Devastator: He could have actually fixed his problem.
05:40:26 Devastator: After that lot is Yuni.
05:40:33 ER: yeah if he fixes the curse he might actually be the token normal person ;P
05:40:50 Devastator: I am slightly disappointed at all the chains, though. I thought she had it somewhat under control.
05:41:09 Devastator: I wrote a whole pep talk about how to make measured progress with such things! I mean, it was bullshit, but I tried. ;-p
05:57:26 Devastator: "I don't think you can take down helicopters with a few anti-tank rifles."
05:57:30 Devastator: .well, maybe, actually.
06:44:56 Piecewise_ has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
07:05:10 Devastator: What are Ally's minions going to look like?
07:06:44 ER: Her followers are the band of idiot mercenaries who follow her around and get into a massive fight once per book.
07:07:33 Devastator: I'm assuming they'll just start appearing out of the woodwork in another year or so.
07:07:53 ER: In the grand dragon book their big fight was kinda overshadowed by two frikkin armies showing up to kill each other, but they were there :P
07:08:19 Devastator: Also, I do hope she gets to look more impressive than that guy in this update.
07:08:38 Devastator: whoever that guy is.
07:08:44 ER: Also they have auntie maya with them, who is... one of the most powerful people.
07:09:16 Devastator: They're kinda all the most powerful people.
07:09:20 Devastator: except the big forge guy.
07:10:13 ER: Maya was the one who owned the throne that Incubus has now
07:10:41 Devastator: Ahh, and Incubus is that douche training her in her sleep.
07:10:55 ER: yeah, and the guy in the last panel this time
07:12:40 ER: oh, looks like Mammon's emmisary survived her fight with mottom
07:14:18 Devastator: Sounds like fan-designed characters to me.
07:14:23 Devastator: Always immortal, never allowed to do anything.
07:14:40 ER: I like how, as one of the seven gods of the universe, he walked in here barefoot through the mud.
07:15:00 Devastator: gotta show off that walk on water power somehow.
07:15:45 ER: ah, but he *could* have avoided getting his feet dirty, he just didn't want to.
07:16:48 Devastator: That'd be less impressive.
07:16:54 Devastator: I mean, in this world anyone can wear shoes..
07:17:12 Devastator: It's like nobles being usless to show off wealth and power. ;-p
07:17:51 ER: He's showing off just how much he doesn't give a shit to look good in front of hir peers.
07:18:20 ER: It would take him pretty much no effort at all to show up in nice clean clothes with shoes.
07:18:35 Devastator: I'm kidding, but I think that's the reason.
07:18:39 Devastator: same reason he didn't bring goons.
07:18:47 ER: Instead he track mud into the meeting room at the center of the universe. showing off.
07:19:17 ER: Though Solomon showed up looking as cool as possible with NO goons. :P
07:19:32 Devastator: Eh, I think he's there as Mediator.
07:19:38 Devastator: and probably required to go no-mook.
07:19:56 ER: He could probably beat them up anyway ;P
07:21:33 Devastator: I do hope Ally starts having real mooks show up.
07:21:49 Devastator: They'd come looking like her defining actions, so we'd have drunken brawlers.
07:22:24 Devastator: drunken brawlers wearing workout clothes.
07:22:58 ER: I'd say most likely no real mooks till she takes over some territory. Which would probably be enough to restart universal war.
07:23:36 ER: Though maybe some people would show up to help her out in a fight in throne, thanks to sidequests :P
07:23:47 Devastator: Yeah. That's basically what I'd expect.
07:24:04 Devastator: some kid she saved to show up on her doorstep, dressed vaguely like her, practicing boxing and drinking.
07:24:15 Devastator: And then some others see that and it starts being a thing.
07:26:09 Devastator: I can totally see that happening.
07:26:20 Devastator: Stuff like that would explain all kinds of weird things.
07:41:05 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
07:41:53 syv: You absolutely *can* take down helicopters with only one anti-materiel rifle. And that's 50 BMG. Anti tank would certainly be capable of it. Especially with multiple.
07:42:29 ER: won't it depend where you hit?
07:42:59 syv: The question of how armored it is comes in; military helicopters are gonna take bullets FAAAR better than civvie copters, and then full on attack helicopters which are actually kinda meant to be in situations where they'll be shot will definitely have decent armor.
07:43:20 syv:
ER, whether or not you kill a human with a 20mm depends on where you hit.
07:43:44 syv: Bigger caliber just means there's fewer possible survivable wounds.
07:44:40 ER: Anti materiel does kinda mean it's supposed to do something when you shoot a grounded heli with it
07:44:44 syv: And pretty much no copter is going to be able to armor the rear rotor effectively. IIRC "shoot the rear rotor" is advice more for shoulder-fired stuff, but hey, same argument. It's close to a kill and will be vulnerable.
07:45:45 Devastator: I think the issue there was the missiles.
07:45:52 Devastator: IE, they were missile-attack copters.
07:46:00 Devastator: so hard to get in range.
07:46:01 ER: it means "shoot at their stuff in order to inconvenience them!"
07:46:42 syv: Ah. Yeah, I'm gonna say that if ANY armed attack helicopter is trying to kill you, anti-tank rifles are still a bit small to be practical.
07:47:03 syv: Honestly just about any weaponry is gonna be insufficient. Attack helicopters are kinda... killy.
07:47:18 Devastator: killy but relatively easy to kill.
07:47:39 syv: Very mobile, too, which means they usually get to shoot you first.
07:47:46 syv: It's kinda their purpose, really.
07:49:35 ER: Yes, attack helicopters are designed to be totally unfair from the perspective on someone on foot. :P
07:49:49 ER: Something they have in common with Tanks, I guess.
07:51:13 syv: Yes. At least with helis you at least have a *chance* if all you've got is an anti-tank rifle. Modern tanks don't give a fuck about anti-tank rifles.
07:52:09 Devastator: Is there nothing you could do to a modern tank with an AT rifle? Assuming the tank is idle and unoccupied?
07:53:38 syv: Uhh. You can destroy a lot of exterior stuff. Sensors, cameras, the mounted MG. Maybe more, I know the radiator was vulnerable to bullets in historical tanks, but I'unno about modern ones.
07:54:05 syv: The book I have on military sniping stops at shooting radar equipment on tanks.
07:54:47 Devastator: aren't most modern tanks turbine-driven anyway?
07:54:50 ER: shooting the radar equipment sounds very annoying for the crew to deal with, yes. :P
07:55:02 Devastator: Yeah, it probably would hurt performance.
07:55:18 syv: Probably,
Dev. This is a hard edge to my knowledge, I just don't know.
07:55:29 ER: Shooting their MGs would make it a bunch harder for them to kill YOU, I guess.
07:56:17 syv: That one's not advice from the book, FYI. That's just knowledge of LMGs not being so absurdly tough you can shoot them and expect them to continue working.
07:57:11 Devastator: I remember in that book about the Soviet Sherman driver.
07:57:18 syv: ...Even then, a lot of a gun isn't actually required. I think shooting to disable the MG could be surprisigly difficult.
07:57:25 ER: yeah, unless they up-armor the ones they put on tanks?
07:57:35 syv: "Why is there so much room innthis tank?"
07:58:47 Devastator: They shipped scads of spare parts, but some looting always happened.
07:59:17 Devastator: The annoying part was that stuff got damaged and packed back up, so they had to check many of their spares after they got to the unit.
07:59:40 syv: Also, I mean the top, turret-mounted one. Coaxial MGs are basically only a barrel from outside. Though, I do wonder how good the armor is right around the slot.
08:00:17 ER: Oh yeah, Space Engineers got a big 1.0 update recently.
08:00:42 syv:
Dev, was this an entire group of stolen Shermans?
08:00:47 syv: I have that game, for some reason.
08:00:59 syv: Barely played it and never liked it.
08:01:06 Devastator: No, it was a unit that operated foreign equipment.
08:01:47 Devastator: they had a thing where people who got to operate lend lease gear were only allowed to operate such for the duration of their careers.
08:02:01 Devastator: I think they didn't want people comparing the stuff.
08:03:00 ER: because comparing equipment would be actually useful and they can't have that in the military?
08:03:02 Devastator: Part of the looting trouble was often because the American workers sometimes put gifts in the shipment. Booze was common.
08:03:57 Devastator: Sometimes it was better, sometimes there were issues, but I think they just wanted to avoid dick-measuring.
08:04:41 Devastator: Plus sometimes there were operational differences.
08:04:55 Devastator: I mean, the red army was enormous.
08:05:11 Devastator: why mix things up when you have enough gear you can keep people in stuff they're familiar with?
08:11:02 Devastator: I'm sure there was political stuff too.
08:11:43 Devastator: His unit was shipped to the far east after the German surrender, where he says he basically didn't see combat, and his unit was deliberately stopped from taking some of the cities in Manchuria, because the soviets didn't want the locals there to see american-built tanks.
08:19:04 ER: what should I do right now?
08:21:34 syv: Uh. Lemme check Tactihell.
08:22:00 syv: Update Tactihell, that's what you should do.
08:23:42 Devastator: are you enjoying tactihell,
syv?
08:24:13 syv: I've stated before that it's very much my kind of game, and I stand by that.
08:25:05 Devastator: now get with the murder!
08:27:21 Devastator: what do you like in particular?
08:29:05 syv: Moderate complexity grid based tactical system, interesting and universally flawed characters with high conflict, minimum understanding of their environment, and the fact that they're (probably) in a lot of danger.
08:32:14 ER:
syv you bolded the "above" in your boldtext :P
08:33:05 Devastator: I just want to see PvP murder.
08:33:57 ER: I do have to remind myself that I can't use italics for emphasis when writing speech for Ailn. Because she says EVERYTHING in italics!
08:35:14 syv: What were you commenting on with the "above" being bolded?
08:35:32 Devastator: I do wonder just how far your knife skill wish goes, though.
08:35:39 ER: I like the idea that she says everything super ominiously with emphasis on every word. :P
08:35:42 Devastator: as best as the best humans? Better than that?
08:36:52 ER: You tried to bold for emphasis a word which was already bolded due to being part of an action,
syv
08:36:57 Devastator: I don't think anyone can spearfish with a knife, so that'd probably answer that.
08:37:05 Devastator: he really wants Above to matter.
08:38:45 ER: 6+6+5+3+2 okay I guess alex is invincible.
08:40:13 syv: I thought it'd end on the [/b], but apparently BBcode tracks multiples of identical tags. That gives me ideas. Useful knowledge.
08:41:21 syv: Don't post the actual result, please; Dem wouldn't know precisely how impossible it is to hit this guy in front of him.
08:41:31 ER: Parries might be OP with the large bonuses that many weapons give it
08:42:07 Devastator: Might tactics counter that?
08:42:08 syv: New rule: If you roll above 20 on a parry, the overflow is applied as an accuracy penalty because you can parry bullets.
08:42:33 syv: Not really, only ranged attacks counter parries.
08:43:15 syv: Really a thrown knife *should* be parriable.
08:43:23 Devastator: multiple attacks in the same round might help.
08:43:30 Devastator: at least from multiple directions.
08:43:39 syv: But you're right, they should.
08:43:42 Devastator: The rules, I know them not.
08:43:47 Devastator: Or maybe just ranged attacks.
08:44:01 ER: Two people hit you during parry frames, two people get parried. :P
08:44:58 Devastator: ALL frames are parry frames.
08:47:33 ER: Could make it so that rather than proactively parrying you can basically use your AoO to deflect the attack.
08:47:41 syv: Though it's notable that you autoriposte, and can simultaneously autoriposte a theoretically infinite number of people. Or just eight, I guess.
08:47:53 syv: Even if you're out of movement, and can't actually attack any more.
08:48:25 syv: ...I wonder what happens in DaS if two people fight an invader, and simulatenously one backstabs them while the other ripostes them.
08:48:29 ER: yeah it just says "you can kill them if you want" :P
08:50:06 syv: Going on how simultaneous backstabs work, both the critical attackers probably see themselves landing their respective criticals, while the invader sees themself being hit by whichever they received last.
08:51:06 syv: Though maybe one of them would see their attack start, and then an instant later their victim would teleport to the other attacker.
08:51:43 syv: If not the latter, I wonder how the damage would work. Prooobably the invader would only take damage from whoever they see.
08:53:53 ER: (sorry
syv, I'm not hiding die rolls in this game)
08:54:23 Devastator: So.. is scribe going to wake up before or after the two bugs in the same room as him?
08:54:33 Devastator: I'm also wondering if there will be wandering encounters..
08:54:56 ER: The two bugs were merely stunned, and they are NOT going to wake up. Ever.
08:55:25 Devastator: stunned means they will never wake up?
08:55:59 Devastator: so what's that 9 pay attention good for on the macedonian?
08:56:44 syv: Alexander has 7 because it's used to tank pain; pain is only really relevant if you wear armor.
08:57:00 ER: would be good with armor. Probably real good for exploration, maybe sneaking and getting the drop on people.
08:57:24 syv: It's only good for making him win initiative, and for spotting/hearing things. The latter isn't relevant because literally EVERYONE in this group has phenomenal pay-attention.
08:57:35 ER: dunno, not *fully* happy with the Focus mechanic
08:57:49 syv: Which is weird since it's not really a great stat or anything.
08:58:14 ER: yeah they'd be better off dropping a lot into corruption~
08:59:43 syv: Yeah, Alex has 6 in keep-hold specifically because I'm gambling on demon transformations being stat boosts of some kind.
08:59:51 syv: Otherwise those points would be in speed.
09:00:31 syv: I *really* hope that the transformations don't fully preserve weaknesses, else Alexander will be quite unable to counter certain enemies.
09:01:16 Devastator: You turn into a demon, but it makes you weaker. ;-p
09:01:42 Devastator remembers the failed cyborg from Cataclysm.
09:02:07 ER: literally why would you take Keep-Hold if corruption made you weaker,
dev?
09:02:18 ER: You'd be better off dying and making a new character
09:02:58 Devastator: I don't remember if ill-health can actually kill someone in Cata.
09:03:04 Devastator: (from leaky bionics.)
09:06:24 syv: I don't think it could, but you would die suddenly from minor sickness.
09:06:46 syv: I'm pretty sure taking a lot of health-lowering drugs could mean your character just dies suddenly with zero warning.
09:07:02 syv: No clue as far as leaky bionics though.
09:08:01 Devastator: I should fire up Katia again, and see just how high I can get that booze addiction counter.
10:53:08 syv has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
10:57:02 ER: Yeah launched Space Engineers and worked on a big cargo ship. It's about the same as it's always been undero those cinditions :P
12:35:12 ER: that game's been around for ages as a fairly closed access thing but it got on steam now

18:08:47 Devastator: If we can get resources from terrain, I need to come up with a simple way to do it in Arcane Fuckery. Nothing complicated, just easy stuff.
18:11:07 Devastator: no stockpile, just produced and consumed, maybe. So one building gets me +1, and another brings it to +0.
18:17:57 Devastator: "Hello everyone, I've been lurking this forum for around five years and I finally decided to join a glorious
piecewise game."
18:42:15 Piecewise_: Don't worry, I'm sure I can find a closet to stick him in~
18:45:13 Devastator: Shades of the past, though.
19:24:48 Piecewise_: then Arcane Fuckery
19:24:52 Piecewise_: thats gonna take a while
19:25:09 Devastator: Yeah, that's the issue with large scale global map games.
19:25:25 Devastator: I'm not sure how to fix that.
20:33:53 Devastator: well, that was the most overpowered weapon combo I've ever had.
20:34:00 Devastator: I had a M4A1s and a Saiga-12.
20:34:07 Devastator: both from unattended airdrops.
20:34:33 Devastator: on the plus side, I murdered a youtuber while playing solo in squads.
20:36:16 Piecewise_: how do you know they were a youtuber?
20:37:27 Devastator: The guy's name was listed on the ongoing streams.
20:37:33 Devastator: Most times I'm just guessing.
20:37:51 Devastator: the name is XXXX_YT or something like that.
20:38:24 Devastator: sadly I didn't do so with bad weapons. Anyone can do so with such broken weapons.
21:52:26 Devastator: was fun, though. I was sitting in place like an idler, and he walked up to me to line up his shot properly.
21:52:33 Devastator: I then started moving at the same time he opened fire.
21:52:44 Devastator: so he missed and I murdered him for no damage or difficulty.
21:55:38 Devastator: kills like that are why I play the game.
23:58:38 Devastator: "But I don't want my soul devoured."
