00:02:17 Devastator: That is also an odd thing.
00:02:30 Devastator: The evil guy can talk to you in your dreams, but can't send some goons to murder you.
00:06:55 syv: Maybe it's some magic. He can find the dreams of his enemy, since dreams are uncontrolled and mystical, but he can't find their physical location.
00:07:33 Devastator: That said, this is -very- early TES.
00:07:41 Devastator: For one thing, Khajiit are humans.
00:07:56 Devastator: There are two moons, though.
00:08:23 Devastator: I moved onto the next screen of text.
00:09:05 Devastator: "I will use the same dream bridge she uses, sending my minions across time and space. Already they arrive, ones worthy of destroying you."
00:20:27 ER has joined #einsteinianroulette
00:20:53 Devastator: well, made it out alive.
00:21:10 Devastator: Did you hear that Jagar Tharn has made a fake emperor so he can rule through his simulacrum?
00:21:24 syv:
Dev got me to waste a ridiculous amount of time plugging characters into Akinator.
00:22:42 Devastator: annoyed that I can find multiple characters with fewer plays than any you can come up with? ;-p
00:23:22 ER: ...the firedog guarded firekeeper soul isn't too bad.
00:23:44 ER: die on it like once at most per run, and usually because of falling damage :V
00:23:47 syv: I can come up with plenty of characters that stump it, I just can't find anything in the sweetspot.
00:24:13 syv: I mostly hate it because I spent multiple hours there the first time I played.
00:24:21 ER: I tried a character from some flash adventure game and it couldn't find it.
00:24:43 syv: And hotdogs are by far the hardest enemy in the area, worse than even blowdart snipers.
00:25:07 ER: I find the big fellows hardest.
00:25:57 ER: ...and trying to fight the gargoyle with bugs constantly spawning :P
00:26:50 ER: The blowdart dudes in that area are easy, because darts don't actually do damage or stagger you.
00:27:24 ER: so you can just ignore the darts and stab them once you're already toxic
00:27:37 ER: and then use a single moss when you're done
00:28:12 Devastator: Well, if you just want a relatively low number, Emperor Augustus got about 1700 plays and was picked in 12 questions.
00:28:16 syv: Big guys are simple, they attack slow, can be parried, blocked, backstabbed, have big hitboxes...
00:28:33 syv: Mild-Mannered Pate had 646.
00:28:39 ER: And yet I run into their attacks like an idiot
00:28:42 syv: I've gotten a couple at 1000.
00:28:57 ER: while sensably staying back from firedogs ;P
00:38:50 syv: Three of those were probably me.
00:39:44 syv: Redrick Schuharts mutated daughter in Roadside Picnic.
00:40:45 syv: Roadside Picnic is a really really good book, I'd highly recommend it as one to start on.
00:40:53 syv: I could send you a link. :3
00:43:51 syv: Oh, yes, "Last player 17/08/2018". So yeah, the three tries I made before were counted as plays, and Monkey therefore was already played 19 times when I came up with her.
00:59:39 syv: And I'm also curious what happens when MKs reproduce normally, since apparently witches reproduce normally.
01:00:56 ER: well you can be curious about it but I'm gonna not consider it.
01:02:08 syv: Is there any reason they wouldn't just have completely normal human children?
01:02:22 syv: Would the child be mostly nonmagical but have a rough, unrefined soul gem?
01:02:40 ER: Hmm. Okay I'll consider it then.
01:03:13 syv: Hunters are the protectors of settlements, ans things have been going long enough for multiple generations to go by to my understanding. If Hunters can breed, their descendents would have some distinguishment; if they can't, that would be notable.
01:03:20 ER: Hunters are close to liches, and their bodies are similar to human but not really alive in the same way.
01:03:42 syv: Do they grow up and become adults?
01:04:17 ER: Also hunters are kids and not sexually mature, and will remain the same... or at least their bodies change with the character on their mind, and not what biology would do with a human body.
01:06:16 syv: Many twelve year olds are physiologically capable of having children, despite not being mature, you realize. Pretty much all 16 year olds are capable of reproduction.
01:06:50 ER: k liches aren't alive and don't reproduce k
01:06:55 syv: And I guarantee you, if you stuck a bunch of sixteen year olds together, and gave them immortality, there'd be some smashin' going on.
01:08:08 syv: I'm not asking for it, I'm just curious.
01:08:41 syv: Though srsly you're gonna get players being all sappy and whining and having poorly-written romances, I guarantee it.
01:12:44 ER: But yeah the way it works is that hunters/witches are essentially a different kind of creature from humans, and witches are the mature form, which can either reproduce asexually through familiars or sexually through pseudohunters. And there's a force among humans that randomly transforms children into hunters.
01:13:11 ER: Which makes... 3 different ways that these things can be born, really.
01:14:11 syv: So they'd be infertile while still physically and mentally human, regardless of their shape?
01:15:11 ER: They are a different, magical, form of life.
01:16:23 ER: There's probably also machine life somewhere out there, because civilization was up to some crazy shit that's poorly documented before failing completely. ;P
01:27:44 syv: Hey,
ER, do you have any mechanics for the towns the Hunters live in?
01:28:16 ER: Mechanics? No, but I have some mental notes.
01:28:45 syv: A long while back,
Piecewise sent me a couple systems to review for use in Oroboropolis.
01:29:32 syv: Apocolypse World (The eRP system), and No Country For Old Kobolds, which used the same town system but was otherwise far better and streamlined. It's a good system IMO, simple and effective.
01:31:32 syv: I could prolly find a copy of the latter, if you're interested, or just write it out myself.
01:31:59 ER: what would this town system involve?
01:34:36 syv: IIRC it was basically a system of timers ticking down, with bonuses for keeping them high, and penalties for letting them get low. Each timer was a specific need, like water, food, money for the mercenaries that protect the town, fuel for the nightly energy shield, etc.
01:35:53 syv: It struck me as a great way of incentivising PCs to actually think of things to go out and do for the town, while also mechanically rewarding them for it, and punishing them if they drug their feet.
01:37:18 syv: Ah, and it also had mechanics for impending threats, warnings for the players that trouble was on the horizon, with systemized ways to work towards delaying those and balancing them.
01:37:30 syv: Been awhile since I read any of it, though.
01:38:16 ER: welp, that sounds pertainant and like something I cannot write myself.
01:38:34 ER: Maybe if I embellish it with fireballs... nah.
01:42:37 syv: Well, if you want me to dig up the files, say so. Otherwise, Dark Souls...

02:29:33 ER: also, disengage your capslock drive, silly
02:29:51 syv: THIS IS A PHONE IT DOESN'T HAVE CAPSLOCK
02:31:49 syv: I forget what the other new stat names are.
02:32:02 syv: Defiance, Ingenuity, Love, uhh?
02:32:33 curiosi-sy: wait no that looks like sissy
02:34:54 syv: I PM'd the powersets to
MJ.
02:35:10 ER: well there's what you need again
02:35:12 syv: And also stuck them in a spoiler, which makes everything like 5% more efficient.
02:36:00 syv: What do fury and defiance do?
02:36:18 ER: grab 1 +5, 2 +3, 2 +2, and 1 +1 for those six stats.
02:36:19 syv: Is that joy and bravery, or butcher and cleave?
02:36:39 ER: grab like 5 powers from your class and neutral powers
02:37:15 ER: Fury is dex, Defiance is str
02:38:39 MJ: so like the powersets do what exactlly?
02:39:10 ER: blame
syv for making me do a test when they don't have descriptions! ;p
02:40:27 MJ: ...So this works like syvs game right?
02:40:32 ER: do *I* know what all these do!? Fuck it, full speed ahead.
02:40:35 MJ: in terms of char creation right>?
02:40:57 syv:
MJ MAKE A CHAR FOR ME TO KILL
02:45:59 syv: Because it's still open in my tabs
02:46:14 ER: it's still open in MY tabs, so doesn't count
02:47:08 MJ: Or same guy as anger crystals
02:49:40 syv: Can we kill each other yetttt?
02:50:00 ER: depends. are we all ready for this travesty?
02:51:05 syv: I'mma rip yor fookin 'ead off
02:53:27 ER: Okay. You be in the desert. It is very hot, but the sun casts only a dim light. Nothing but white dunes can be seen in the distance. There are a few pieces of a wrecked car here. Across from you is bengal tiger with an eyepatch/a mostly normal boy in plain clothing. Using your sixth sight, you can tell that the other person is a hunter. You are hungry.
02:55:36 syv: Wait shit you're a time freezer aren't you
02:56:25 MJ: heh. I can remake chars if you want a better fight.
02:57:00 ER: The tiger turns and strafes its prey, and its jaws shift and grow into an exaggerated gator's jaw.
02:58:26 ER: You reach out to the wrecked car with your technopathy, getting a feel for what remains.
02:58:59 ER: ...mostly ruins. Not much still works, other than the headlights.
02:59:56 FloridaCat: TURN MY TAIL AND BACK LEGS INTO FLAMETHROWER-POWERED JET ENGINES AND OVERDRIVE A LEAP INTO HIM, RIP 'IS FOOKIN 'EAD OFF!
03:01:01 ER: ooh, looks like the cat is more FURIOUS
03:01:24 FloridaCat: RAWR RAWR IMA TIGERSAWR
03:03:18 ER: The tiger becomes a bundle of hateful military hardware and pounces suddenly, coating the boy in burning fuel. Then stops.
03:03:39 ER: The fire goes out, without time to fuel it~
03:04:25 Randodude: >physicality to rip the frozen tigers "fookin" head off
03:06:44 ER: You lunge forwards and... punch the tiger in the jaw. Upon contact with your bolstered fist, the cat becomes reanimated, as if the kinetic energy from your punch was converted into chronological energy. The gator jaws snap down on your hand.
03:07:27 ER: To your vision, this is a simple hunter, with a dead, humanlike body. Rough gem on the collar.
03:07:56 ER: what actions would you like to fork?~
03:09:40 Randodude: I guess like punching?
03:10:28 Randodude: I have no idea how this works
03:12:01 ER: time crumples and a wedge of magic drives your actions into two distinct halves. In one, you punch the gator and then it crushes your gem. In the other, you Extrude a sword into its jaw.
03:13:01 ER: The one in which you die dissolves before your eyes, and you are left with a shimmering blade jammed through the creature's mouth, and out the other end. It barely seems to care, though it's hindered.
03:13:56 FloridaCat: >Chomp down on the arm and rip it off, while mimicing a paw into a rifle and headshotting him
03:14:29 Randodude: >technopathy his flamethrower legs and make them explode
03:15:27 ER: Light seethes from behind its eyepatch and takes the form of etherial muscle fibers, weaving through its jaw. With impossible strength it bites down and shatters your blade, and takes your hand with it.
03:15:48 Randodude: >technopathy his flamethrower legs and make them explode
03:15:58 ER: can't ignore half my player's order just cause there's a split on :P
03:16:21 FloridaCat: >Mimic flamethrower legs into MORE TIGERS, while fleeing
03:18:21 ER: The tiger's front legs make a crunching sound, then the air tanks implode and they catch fire. He yelps and falls over while turning them back into paws.
03:19:34 ER: [cheerful music in the background]
03:19:54 FloridaCat: >HAHA I WAS JUST KIDDING LEGS BACK INTO FLAMETHROWERS AND ROAST THAT JOKER
03:20:37 Randodude: >extrude into the face
03:21:57 ER: You extrude a blade into the cat's face again. This does literally nothing to prevent his attack. You are now melting.

MJ's body doesn't stop, though. And you can both feel it. Your very own body.
03:24:16 ER: The tiger is frozen, that but is now irrelevent to the battle.
03:24:35 FloridaCat: >ADAPT HIS BODY INTO A TIGER KITTEN
03:25:28 Randodude: >Extrude away from weird ass tiger
03:27:29 ER: You turn into a kitten, hop away, and then are yourselves again.
Syv cannot move, due to time being frozen.
03:27:45 FloridaCat: Is he still a kitten?
03:28:24 FloridaCat: That synergy is amazing.
03:29:15 ER: A kitten. Normal body plan, you instinctually placed his gem in the eye socket. Of course you already knew all that, because you're the one who did it.
03:30:23 FloridaCat: >Adapt the eyepatch into steel armor plating, and wait for freeze to run out.
03:31:11 FloridaCat: >Wait for freeze to run out.
03:31:29 Randodude: >Fork Extrude and stab in brain, Extrude and stab in chest.
03:32:02 ER: all that pretty stuff I said about time again.
03:32:43 ER: You stab him in the chest. Not like you need to roll for this, it's a still target.
03:33:01 ER: Also the contact removes freeze.
03:33:22 FloridaCat: >Overdrive and crunch munch the cute little homicidal kitten
03:33:38 Randodude: what happens with the brain?
03:33:54 FloridaCat: It's 100% unnecessary...
03:34:17 FloridaCat: I'm a shapeshifting tiger lich, the brain is cosmetic
03:34:20 ER: in that case, you stab him in the brain. I picked chest because it's a little more immobilizing.
03:34:55 Randodude: And man I really should have taken analyze
03:36:23 Randodude: oh no you took curiosity
03:36:57 ER: what we learned here: curiosity is p. good

03:38:05 Randodude: >Fucking like physicality to dodge
03:39:03 Randodude: I'm not super sure I can even beat you, since you can heal and I don't know where to stab you.
03:39:29 ER: Ah. The flamergator cat catches you and shakes, ripping your bady apart.
03:39:30 FloridaCat: (
FloridaCat) >Adapt the eyepatch into steel armor plating, and wait for freeze to run out.
03:39:44 FloridaCat: The eyepatch hid the soul gem.
03:40:02 Randodude: But
randodude doesn't know that
03:40:13 ER: There was still a hint IC :P
03:40:22 Randodude: But it didn't happen
03:40:27 FloridaCat: ...Ah. Fair point. Eyepatch is still a justified guess.
03:40:41 FloridaCat: OMNOMNOM DELICIOUS KITTENXUB
03:41:07 ER: gator jaws aren't ideal for crushing such a thing.
03:41:51 FloridaCat: Talk it into being my adorable little cub and be mothered and fathered and loved and raised to be a big strong munching machine?
03:42:33 ER: ...it died in your stomach the end
03:42:50 FloridaCat: Aww, poor widdle cubsoul
03:43:16 FloridaCat: But yeah, prolly should've grabbed stasis and taken like FIFTY FUCKING MINIMIS!
03:43:24 ER: and then you starved in the desert because the only way out of that was lifesteal which you didn't take~
03:43:51 FloridaCat: Finish refine it is good
03:43:57 FloridaCat falls over and goes to sleep
03:44:02 FloridaCat has quit [Quit: Definitely a psyv.]
03:45:03 Randodude: Eyepatch would've been a justified guess I suppose, but I knew that it would've been a justified guess and casting freeze and then eyestabbing felt like kinda a cheap shot
03:45:11 ER: I didn't even bother counting soul costs past the first few turns because it seemed unlikely that you'd run out in that fight.
