00:23:51 Devastator: Just had a pretty clean run through MoO. Won a diplo victory with about 40% total pop. Would have lost it, but I managed to sign an important non-agression pact with the at-the-time leaders.
00:24:42 Devastator: Should be good for that now.
00:25:05 Devastator: I was annoyed at the last couple of losses and suprisingly close games.
00:25:25 Devastator: Would have been tricky to attack, though, no autorepair in my tech tree for the usual gunship model. Would have had to use missile boats.
00:28:56 Devastator: This one wasn't easy, but I made some good decisions, grabbed a good chunk of land, and mostly held off the other races. Except for the Psilon leaders, whom I signed the major NAP with, which as it turned out, happened the same turn they sent their doomstack to take one of my biggest planets.
00:29:07 Devastator: The ease with which they smashed that planet told me it was a good idea.
00:29:54 Devastator: But they went for the invasion, and I managed to nick just enough ground combat techs to hold on to the planet, and they were left with their doomstack trying to police a planet they couldn't invade properly. I've only seen that happen to the AI three or four times.
00:31:04 Devastator: Usually they smash a big target flat, but I guess they thought they could win the invasion due to them having a big ground tech advantage. I managed to move that 10 points which changed the math a lot.
01:47:36 Devastator: (You'd better be careful, ER, your painter might go the way of Crablante.
01:47:38 Devastator: )

02:50:42 ER: tfw you're walking through the woods and suddenly you start feeling it
02:51:00 ER: I guess (?)
02:51:59 MidJag: I have no idea. All I know is it's glorious
02:55:03 MidJag: And assuming it's not some mod or admin spawn or something. The amount of time it would have taken to aggro all of those animals is amazing

04:16:49 Devastator: heya.
04:17:05 Devastator: won another game. Had a fairly straightforward run, only had to make a few dozen strategy decision.
04:17:07 Devastator: decisions.
04:23:38 MidJag: nice
04:23:51 MidJag: I'm assuming this was MOO?
04:28:32 Devastator: Yeah.
04:28:58 Devastator: was annoyed. Had a couple of losses and very tough games, so it was nice to get a solid win.
04:29:45 MidJag: ah cool
04:30:44 Devastator: It's such a good game, though, there really isn't anything else like it.
04:32:59 MidJag: how so?
04:33:51 Devastator: The tech holes really drive the game around, as does the diplomacy. As does the single victory condition.
04:34:15 Devastator: Also, if you get a good lead up, the game just ends. There's no mopup, very little micromanagement, and you generally win by making the right decisions.
04:37:25 MidJag: tech holes?
04:37:29 Devastator: Yeah.
04:37:36 Devastator: Master of Orion doesn't have a conventional tech tree.
04:37:42 Devastator: It has six trees.
04:37:48 Devastator: although they're more like ladders.
04:38:00 Devastator: You reaserch something at a rung, that unlocks the next rung.
04:38:05 Devastator: half of all techs are missing.
04:38:16 MidJag: intresting
04:38:29 Devastator: In a given game, you don't know what sorts of holes you'll have, what problems you'll need to work around.
04:38:50 Devastator: This one I had no engines below grade 4, and I really focused on getting class IV engines fast when they finally showed up.
04:39:21 Devastator: I also had no missiles after the six damage second level, which meant I had to heavily overpay for better missiles from another race.
04:39:53 Devastator: ..and the trade mechanics meant I had to both give up something very big, and had a very brief moment where it was available.
04:40:16 Devastator: basically, the AI decides what it'll be willing to trade you, and after you pick what you want, it picks what it wants from your tech list.
04:40:28 Devastator: No negotiation.
04:41:05 Devastator: Those also were very helpful, but there still was one enemy faction that could stomp me like a bug, which meant I had to play around the doomstack.
04:43:44 MidJag: Neat
04:44:01 Devastator: Yeah. If you'd like I'll play a start out for you, if you'll give me a bit.
04:45:55 MidJag: cool, Just mention me when you do
04:46:20 Devastator: tech support scammer.
04:46:24 Devastator: just a minute.
04:47:32 Devastator: Aww, dude hung up.
04:47:35 Devastator: I think he smelled a rat.
04:53:31 Devastator: okay, game's up.
04:53:33 Devastator: need a link?
04:53:43 Devastator: MidJag
04:53:58 MidJag: I would apperciate one
04:54:15 Devastator: twitch.tv/kofiman19
04:55:46 MidJag: looks cool
04:55:55 MidJag: Title looks kinda like XCOM
04:56:17 MidJag: neat
04:58:22 MidJag: Looks like Katia
05:03:08 MidJag: heh, space bears sounds like a 90's thing
05:06:29 MidJag: I think the darloks sound fun. Essentially jawas
05:07:20 MidJag: nah
05:08:30 MidJag: alright
05:18:24 MidJag: Heh, I like how the JAwas look super evil.
05:18:44 MidJag: heh
05:19:43 MidJag: So better tech is better for the economy?
05:24:38 MidJag: heh
05:25:05 MidJag: That sounds like the ultimate silicoid spot
05:38:52 MidJag: I keep thinking this is like an intro to XCOM in some way :P
05:40:21 MidJag: Huh, was that an old anti piracy thing?
05:42:09 MidJag: heh, moving dots around, 4X games in a nutshell
05:43:36 MidJag: I see
05:44:54 MidJag: So your good at spying right?
05:45:02 MidJag: How does that manifest in the game?
05:46:30 MidJag: cool
05:49:00 MidJag: ah
05:49:56 MidJag: heh, that's a nice laser
05:52:19 MidJag: I think I missed something, what can you do?
05:52:47 MidJag: ah
05:55:11 MidJag: Jenga! Be sure not to make the tower you built there collapse
05:55:13 MidJag: :P
05:57:51 MidJag: Missilies seem pretty weak
05:59:37 MidJag: Ah.
06:00:35 MidJag: Nice
06:01:05 MidJag: Does the AI try to steal tech?
06:01:43 MidJag: Nice
06:03:41 MidJag: why are hand lasers good?
06:22:43 MidJag: Ah
06:26:19 MidJag: Alright Dev, I need to go bed pretty soon. Thanks for playing, was pretty intresting
06:27:21 MidJag: alright
06:27:24 MidJag: night

13:30:53 Devastator: Ahh, love that argument.
13:31:19 Devastator: Arguing that it's okay to eat meat, because it naturally leads from my support of pro-choice policy.
13:32:03 Devastator: Very good for getting people off-script to see if they're willing to ask questions.

20:57:03 Devastator: k6bd update.
20:57:12 Devastator: Not sure where all that hair came from.
20:58:05 ER: Well, she trained in magic bullshit kung fu with an angel with a huge mass of hair.
20:58:17 ER: Also time passing.
21:00:30 Devastator: Not much time passing.
21:00:34 Devastator: sill visible wounds, after all.
21:01:42 Devastator: but yeah, presumably more time passes.
21:03:24 ER: Well, the plant witch wounds are healed well enough, because she's standing. :P
21:03:42 ER: And I think the scars from the claw-to-the-face are pretty permanant.
21:06:36 Devastator: maybe.
21:06:46 Devastator: Or maybe the hair is just for the cover.
21:52:13 Devastator: place your bets.
23:45:49 syv has joined #einsteinianroulette
23:45:58 syv: Baep?
23:46:13 ER: boop
23:46:27 syv: bop
23:46:31 syv: How's The Surge?
23:46:47 ER: there's a big annoying robot
23:47:59 syv: I heard the boss fights were poor. Is it the first boss?
23:48:26 ER: second
23:48:56 syv: What was the first one? What makes it annoying?
23:50:02 ER: The first boss was a big chickenwalker thing. You just have to run under its legs and whack it till it falls over, and then hit the weak spot for massive damage.
23:50:31 syv: If only you could summon Tarkus.
23:51:04 ER: It also tries to boost away and shoot rockets at you, but if you run under its legs real quick it will hit itself and fall over.
23:51:19 syv: Hah.
23:51:50 ER: But if you stay at range in general it hits you with big fucking melee weapons that have too much range and knock you over >:|
23:52:31 ER: The second boss is a big disk with six legs and two rocket engines on top.
23:52:47 syv: That sounds... different.
23:52:51 ER: It kinda hovers around on the legs with help from the rockets
23:53:40 syv: Was it the thing that was visible through the windows while you were killing Liquidators?
23:54:01 ER: if you stay close, it'll try to whack you with the closest leg, which you can easilly sidestep and use to hit that leg. If it hit one leg enough it'll get stunned, and then a couple more hits will destroy that leg.
23:54:29 ER: If you smash three legs it starts flying around properly, but also exposes its head.
23:54:45 ER: Yeah, window thing.
23:55:07 ER: You also see it flying around two seperate times earlier in the game.
23:55:34 syv: That actually sounds pretty neat, honestly. Kinda surprised that reviewers said the bosses were bad.
23:56:30 ER: They're fun, but kinda heavy on the gimmicks. Kinda like Iji, I think.
23:56:52 syv: Dark Souls should have more giant robots to kill. I don't care if they're inappropriate for a fantasy setting, I just want to kill Numidium with a falchion. :I
23:57:19 ER: Though that's kinda true of the robot enemies in general. The welder bots take very little damage unless you hit them in the back.
23:57:41 ER: Which you usually have to do by stunning it with a duck/hop dodge
23:57:59 syv: I guess I just don't dislike gimmick bosses as much as most people. I haven't found Bed of Chaos annoying since... my first playthough, I don't think.
23:58:23 syv: Yeah, the welder bots seemed pretty annoying, being forced to essentially parry an attack to hurt them.
23:58:44 ER: Though I have been able to get shots in other ways.
23:59:11 syv: Like?
23:59:25 ER: Dodge to the side while it's doing the hoppable sweep, or just strafe while it's lighting shit on fire.
