02:40:00 syv: Huh, okay. I've never felt that DIG was a good system. :\
02:40:30 ER: it was a terrible system, which is why the system needed to be changed~
02:41:59 syv: I was really hoping he'd make forum mechwarrior, though.
02:42:10 ER: also, diving system changed to the matacancer spheres, which is awesome
02:44:33 ER: It's workable. Probably not something I'd do, because I like less building-sized mechs and more magic bullshit.
02:46:44 syv: I should've just made Shadow of the Mechalopolis instead of Particularly Stressful.
02:47:26 ER: but then you wouldn't get to have magical girls, which would be a shame
02:48:54 syv: If there's a page of one-line roleplay posts, I could tell the players "You're murderbots, stop talking and start ACTING!"
02:49:22 ER: ...they're roleplaying because you're not updating
02:49:39 syv: I have one actionable action.
02:49:57 syv: Not even
Dev's posted an actual thing.
02:50:28 ER: they've obviously adapted to your non-posting ways~
02:51:36 syv: Should I post "I would totally update tonight if I had more than just Asha's action"?
02:52:12 syv: ...Is it good to take your advice?
02:53:02 ER: maybe even "I swear to god if you don't post actions I'm going to murder you and replace you with Egan, who has a mcuh better character and is also handsome"
02:53:59 syv: But then I'd be lying, except maybe for the handsome part. :(
02:54:39 ER: I need to find better ways to bribe you
02:56:57 syv: There aren't many things that I want, and don't already have...
02:57:19 syv: Money would work, but you'd need a lot of it.
02:57:28 ER: damn you and your incorruptible ways
03:04:04 syv: Wanna play Hunt after I find something to eat?
03:04:34 ER: let's see if we can not die

03:14:44 ER: the kind of update that you download
03:15:12 ER: welp, mine downloaded without me noticing, have fun
03:17:57 ER: also I noticed that PM3 + Bloodborne crossover fanfiction could actually work.
03:19:51 syv: Sad nobody's tried for trick weapons in PS.
03:20:25 ER: Red would be right at home, really.
03:20:40 syv: The weapons were pretty much the one thing RWBY did right.
03:23:15 Devastator: Sorry, I wanted to be simple.
03:23:43 syv: Hunt's DL has frozen at 340 MB twice now. :\
03:26:44 Devastator: Eh, I voted for BBBB in the mech poll. ;-p
03:26:59 Devastator: mini-mecha are only good when it involves the president of the United States.
03:27:48 syv: I just like Mechwarrior Elementals.
03:29:21 Devastator: the ones that get stomped? ;-p
03:31:00 Devastator: Well, can't blame you.
03:34:52 syv: And now it's downloading again. Apparently Steam does this thing of copying virtually the entire game's filesystem if most of the game's files have been changed even slightly, which takes a little while, but it doesn't actually *tell* you that this is happening.
03:35:22 syv: So it just looks frozen, despite actually still working on the update.
03:35:43 Devastator: Of course not, it isn't for you to know what's occuring inside your filesystem.
03:36:30 Devastator: It's not a good system, it is just the one we're forced to use.
03:36:56 syv: The system they use makes sense, it just isn't very transparent unless you go searching for the log files.
03:37:52 syv: It *does* say that it's using disk, but it gives no further explanation, and until I googled it I hadn't even realized why it would need to use so much disk time.
03:38:49 Devastator: It's extra annoying because disks still fail at random intervals, influenced by heavy use..
03:39:57 syv: At least in my case, disk is way quicker and easier than more download, and the system heavily prioritizing minimizing download. Really, that's more for Steam's benefit, but it's quite preferable for me as well.
03:41:02 syv:
Dev, where does Alida think the Labyrinth is?
03:41:21 Devastator: Near that guy sitting down there.
03:41:25 Devastator: or inside that guy.
03:41:30 Devastator: I figure the others will find it better.
03:42:09 Devastator: I just want to move on, since you seem to want some move forward turns.
03:44:20 syv: Honestly, I'm fine with RP, though I think the play-by-play information exchange is silly. I just don't want people to think I'm not updating for some other reason, and therefore *not* post actions.
03:45:58 Devastator: eh, it's okay, everyone is up and knows where to go.
03:46:15 Devastator: so get them together and get things started.
03:47:13 syv: I'm reading Hunt's patch notes, and I rather like what I see. A lot of it deals with firearms acoustics.
03:48:32 syv: "Fixed a bug that would cause the holster sound of the spyglass to be heard everywhere in the map."
04:05:02 Devastator: I think the only two modern cities I can believe someone to be hugely lost in are São Paulo and Mexico City.
04:06:09 Devastator: São Paulo because of the building elevation restrictions leading to a truly ridiculous sprawl of apartments, and Mexico City due to the large slum areas.
04:34:16 syv: Woo! We banished a butcher and survived!
04:34:38 syv: I think it's easier for a 12 y/o to get lost.
04:35:06 syv: Though virtually all the chars have smartphones, so they should REALLY know how to use a map app.
04:37:58 Devastator: Oh, understandable.
04:38:11 Devastator: buy there's map apps and you damn well should teach kids your own address.
05:04:47 Devastator: Can't type, dammit.
05:21:05 syv: Hey
Dev, my app doesn't show timestamps. When did Episodic Rhapsody say "Soundsgood
05:22:44 syv: So about an hour and a half of hunting, or 45 minutes per hunt.
05:24:22 ER: We got to be the suckers on the classic multiplayer setpiece of "don't dig for gold, cave in the head of the guy who did. with a shovel"
05:24:41 ER: We killed a boss both times, though.
05:25:14 syv: Mostly through abuse of cheese and
ER being good at games.
05:25:36 syv: I helped a little though, I shot the spider at least twice!
05:25:58 ER: Hey, if they won't program their bosses to go outside of the arena, it's not our fault we cheese it~
05:26:17 ER: I hit that spider with at least one firebomb.
05:26:28 syv: You also set me on fire...
05:26:48 syv: It worked out in the end though, so hey.
05:27:45 ER: I think either killing or banishing the boss fully *fully* restores your health, because I lost a small section to fire while fighting the spider, and later I had it back.
05:28:57 Devastator: just after you posted holster.
05:29:05 Devastator: Gimme a sec and I've give you an exact time.
05:29:25 syv: I think the guys who ambushed us did get a big hit to their pay, because they didn't actually kill the boss, and might not've found the lair or even all clues. And they still did risk fighting players.
05:29:53 ER: Yeah, we earned like $300 DESPITE dying
05:29:55 syv: So camping extraction isn't necessarily the most efficient choice.
05:30:28 ER: Think you should certainly go after clues. It's fairly safe and gives you like $25 a pop.
05:30:44 ER: Plus however much ex for killing stuff.
05:30:57 syv: It's really stupid that you need to level up before being able to buy real trait upgrades, though.
05:31:21 syv: My one survived guy has like twelve upgrade points, and can't spend them on anything.
05:32:34 ER: Should be able to buy determination at least.
05:34:02 syv: I did, but he has so much potential to grow, I don't want to use him again.
05:34:30 syv: And now my two best weapons are small and medium, so his flaw of having no large item slot is irrelevant.
05:37:38 syv: Some hunters have one large, one medium, some have 2x medium. The latter can't have a repeater, but CAN have a stocked pistol and sawnoff.
05:38:27 syv: Also, there's the healthbar system, so 3x large or 6x small or some combination could be the best or worst, and having the wrong combination is a flaw.
05:39:12 syv: My pistolman has 1x large 4x small, which seems pretty good. A lot of revives, and he revives with a big bar. But he's also vulnerable to fire.
05:40:15 ER: also having smalls on the end makes you more vulnerable to sqirmishing with trash, as weaker hits are more likely to put you under the point that you can regen
05:44:41 syv: I have two vitality shots in inventory, if I ever use that guy I'll be kitting him out as well as I can.
05:45:03 syv: So I don't mind a lack of autoregen so much
05:47:21 ER: ...you know, when we started taking fire from the treeline down at the end of the road, we probably should have broke left into the vegetation instead of right into an open field.
05:49:37 syv: For some reason I thought extraction was on the other side of the fence.
05:50:01 ER: ...and I was following you. oops.
05:50:20 ER: the fence was KINDA like cover
05:55:19 syv: They hit me at least once trough it, though they missed a bunch otherwise.
05:56:27 ER: I fired a bunch of shots in their general direction when I didn't have a direct target.
05:57:03 ER: They actually got a small swarm of zombies rushing them after they started shooting.
05:57:18 syv: Oh, gah, why didn't I think of that?
05:57:50 syv: They open fire, they have to deal with zombs. If I'd turned around I probably could've shot through the fence slats while they dealt with them! >.<
05:58:50 ER: I was suprised how after I went down there was a long period of no shooting.
05:59:07 ER: In fact I think the only shot after that was probably you dying.
06:00:24 syv: There were at least five shots when I died, two from me, three from them.
06:01:21 ER: I'm sayin ya need more AGRESSION than that! >:O
06:01:36 ER: go shoots them heads right off

06:14:41 Devastator: failed in Cult Simulator.
06:14:50 Devastator: damn visions killed me.
06:14:55 syv: Did you run out of people to eat?
06:16:24 Devastator: Yeah, visions killed me. Started seeing things, and had some bad luck drawing three fascinations at the wrong time, and fucked up stuff that could have saved me.
06:18:22 Devastator: Yeah, it's tricky getting dreads after ascension when the auto-desire need doesn't create restlessness.
06:18:53 syv: Ohhh, wow. The full-auto gun in Hunt costs $1800! When a repeater costs $19, and both players finding, killing, and surviving a contract pays ~$500.
06:22:49 syv: It's also, apparently, a Canadian design. They call it the Avtomat, but it's actually a Huot rifle, a full-auto coversion of the Ross bolt action.
06:23:22 Devastator: Wow, what a bad gun.
06:23:47 syv: Ironically, its primary advantage was that it was a relatively cheap automatic to manufacture.
06:23:50 Devastator: The Ross was itself terrible, unless you were sniping.
06:25:11 syv: Supposedly itwas actually pretty reliable, but looking at it, I have my doubts. Drum-fed mag, and an auto coversion that looks like a massive box bolted to the top of the stock?
06:25:59 Devastator: That might actually be more reliable than the original feed system.
06:27:09 syv: Yeah, they're mostly comparing it to the Lewis Gun.
06:29:02 Devastator: Really, the Ross was a dog and a half.
06:29:12 syv: Hah, they only cost fifty Canadian dollars to manufacture.
06:29:56 syv: Hunters are fools, they could make a ton more money just gunrunning "Avtomats" from Canada.
06:33:26 Devastator: Wasn't one of the early Russian MGs similar to that?
06:35:04 syv: I don't know, I'm not good with historic guns. Something to ask
MJ, if he's ever around.

06:56:02 Devastator: does it really blow up?
06:59:58 syv: Swampland does burn really, really well when it gets dry, though. Literally, the land burns, a big fire can lower the ground level by several feet.
07:10:49 Devastator: okay, finished the initial stat-grinding, then the game can begin.
07:11:09 Devastator: which I'll do later.
07:11:35 syv: Stat grinding? Just getting a job and learning about stuff like the bookstore, I guess?
07:12:29 Devastator: basically. And getting a few points of health, a second point of reason, and some stats for better paintings.
07:13:48 Devastator: I'll see if I can get a few lore fragments from the bookstore and decide what to found the cult on.
07:15:05 syv: Does the founding principle actually even matter?
07:16:37 Devastator: Well, it's the only principle I can use to promote followers, and I can only get seers, that is, fully upgraded cult members who have that principle as a stat.
07:20:29 Devastator: I think I'll want either Grail or Edge, which will let me get 10-stat people who can kidnap or seduce people at random.
07:23:23 syv: In other words, recruiters?
07:51:05 Devastator: no, not recruiters.
07:51:12 Devastator: people who get prisoners.
07:52:48 Devastator: and I'll need a steady supply when that happens.
07:53:00 Devastator: I can shove followers into prison, too.

23:17:36 Devastator: having just terrible luck in this Cult Simulator run.
23:17:43 Devastator: won't go into details, but damn, I have shitty luck.
23:24:03 ER: Strangely, seems like almost everyone is failing the RNG actions.
23:24:26 ER: I wonder if it's broken in some subtle way.
23:27:27 Devastator: It doesn't seem rigged or anything, but it just isn't seeming to be the best of luck. Lotsa failures.
23:27:39 Devastator: Maybe people are used to games that rig it in the player's favor.
23:27:46 Devastator: Last run was very lucky for the most part.
23:28:00 ER: lot of people report repeated failures, even when the text says "very likely to succeed" or such
23:28:19 Devastator: Yeah, but very likely to succeed seems to be, as far as I can tell, 50% or better.
23:28:28 Devastator: with different numbers for different situations.
23:28:34 ER: the rolls aren't very transparant, that's for sure.
23:28:47 Devastator: Eh, I think I've figured out a few things.
23:29:25 ER: in XCOM, if you play on easy mode your chance of hitting is higher than what's shown on the UI by some amount. :p
23:29:34 Devastator: Had some really bad luck with timing earlier. Damn guy started an investigation at just the right moment to hit a 10 second window where I'm not dealing with the one point of notoriety on the board.
23:29:42 Devastator: Same with Fire Emblem, and a lot of other games.
23:31:12 Devastator: I've had some good luck, it's just been mostly bad.
23:31:16 Devastator: like the last game was mostly good.
23:31:56 ER: in XCOM 2, the hacking interface lies to you in a stranger way. The percentage chance it shows you is totally accurate, but IF you fail the roll, it then rolls a second time and shows you the higher result. It doesn't actually change the chance of success, it just makes things look closer than they really are, for "drama"
23:33:01 Devastator: To make it worse, even if I'd failed to deal with the notoriety, his evidence would have evaporated before he could get it back from the guy failing to deal with it.
23:33:22 Devastator: instead that 10 second gap will mean a trial and possible death.
23:34:57 Devastator: but yeah, I think the RNG is fair, it is just that 'odds are good' may mean odds are like 60-40 or 70-30 or something like that, which means lots of failures.
